18 No fire in the hearth. They have a cat and a bell -- could there be a satanist in the closet? Appears to be a Cavalier at the Roundheads' table. Is that coffee, or chocolate? Seems a little frivolous for Puritans.

39 Wonderful painting. Great choice, CBD.

I like the narrative Mosler manifests on several levels: generations coming together, the value of appreciation even in lean times, making a home as best one can, cherishing what you have. Mosler's pose of the models is so effective and the way he captures the wood grain of the background and gleam of the furniture lends a mood to the situation. The care taken with the cloth, table cloth and clothing, adds to the importance of the moments for the family. Even the cat in the lower right shows that this is a home, not just a place.

Wonderfully effective as an image and as a story.

That is a terrible prayer. It was Adam's sin that brought the Creation under the Curse. The Scriptures teach that Earth was made to be inhabited by man. God placed man into the Garden to subdue it and tend to it. Those are commands not to keep the Earth "pristine" but to further the Creation by using the wisdom and creativity that God gave us to subdue and make the land produce. God put minerals into the Earth with the full intention that we would extract them and make things out of them.

Indeed, while Jesus Christ was on Earth, he converted living trees into dead wooden objects that were useful for man's comfort and flourishing.

Jettison that anti-God, anti-Human Climate Change garbage from your thinking and use the time God gave you to flourish.

107 Until a few years ago, the traditional spread was at Mom's (RIP at 101, August before last). Always siblings and cousins and neffews and neeses unto several generations, and friends. A festive familial feast. So many bodies laid out afterward in front of the Big Game on the teevee. Nevermore. Mom's gone. The families are disintegrated.

Today, as with last year, MiladyJo and I will be over at Daughter & SiL's house, with our SonM, and dear cousinS. (Five dogs among us, but some of them may not get to attend.)

I'm thankful for the memories. And the ones to be made.

Thanky Hapsgivings to all ye Hordelings & yer friends and relations!

127 50 years ago today within a couple of hours, my father threw some suitcases in the Buick, backed out of the driveway, and disappeared forever. Thus ending 10 years of my personal journey of rape abuse beatings, and my mother's god how many years of worse.

Thanksgiving Day dinner was not very good that year. Hated T-day for decades, irrationally, when should have been celebrating it I suppose.

Anyway, fast forward through decades of broken relationships fucked up behaviors and poor decisions, typical child abuse behavior.

A few years ago, I was overseas after doing a contract job and wandered into small but very nice church, just intending a visit, and found a small side chapel, lit a candle and sat down... ended up on the floor crying like a baby repenting every shitty thing I had ever done in my life.

2 weeks later, I came home, met the angelic, literally touched by God, woman who is now my wife, got my shit together, and today am infinitely grateful and giving thanks for her, my friends, my colleagues, and sincerely, you. I've been here since 2007 and y'all got me through some very rough spots.

Last year the not yet wife made a big deal out of cranberry sauce for her daughters, who would spend the bulk of the day with their dad. She was always making promises about what she could make, but no, she poured it out of a can. When I observed this, she was offended, said how much hard work it was to do everything else.

I wasn't really complaining, just observing, because I could have sworn she was going to make it herself (I don't even know how it's made, really).

It was a sign of things to come.

Particularly on Thanksgiving or as it is also know the day the untaxed casino owners whine about the white man during their annual protest by Plymouth Rock.

White clouds with gray centers hang over the mesa, with lots of blue covering most of the rest of the sky. The clouds look like they want to lift off the mesa and blow away, but the mesa won't let them.

289 I asked about this on the ONT and I have further info this morning. PAYPAL has locked me out. I have no access to my money on there. When I called the bot asked if I was calling about the "limitation" on my account. At first I said yes but then I could not speak with anyone. The second time I called I said no and was able to speak with someone. He said I had to provide my professional license (I am a licensed therapist in my state). Then he wanted my business model and who I did business with and alll sorts of invasive questions. He then told me it would be reviewed and in 3-5 days I might get my account back--with access to my money. This is really scary for me. Are they the start of the 87000 who are monitoring us? If I ever get access to my money, do any of you have a recommendation for a company that has credit card services (my client pay often by credit card)?

Us too. I always considered it an indignity. I wanted to be at the grown up table. That way when the fistfight broke out I'd know its cause and who's side to take if it progressed to a general melee that year. (I'm kidding. To an extent.)

304 289. Is your PayPal personal or business? Any transactions over $600 are flagged based on the current president for taxes on a personal account, and for a business account you need to provide proof it is business, they will in turn report all earnings to the IRS and provide to you tax documents. PayPal is invasive and I stopped using them when I consulted.

My credit card processing is done through the system that operates my entire business, booking, etc. but quickbooks has an option if you use quicken.

Sadly this is now the second year not using it. One newcomer to the family has never sat at it. When my dad passed the center of our galaxy went with him. Between that and the pandemic we just don't get together like we used to. I would always sit at the kids table and tell them it was funner there.
