As Election Day nears, a new InsiderAdvantage/FOX 29 poll shows Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz has gained ground on Democratic nominee John Fetterman in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race. The race is now a dead heat, according to the poll of 550 likely voters conducted three weeks before Election Day on Nov. 8. The poll has a margin of error of 4.2% Fetterman and Oz are now tied in the polling at 46%, with 5% of those polled remaining undecided. Libertarian candidate Erik Gerhardt came in at about 2%.
InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt Towery says Fetterman's shrinking lead was a result of self-described independent voters breaking for Oz by twenty points. "Oz is also picking an unusually high 14% of the African American vote and Asians and Hispanics prefer Oz say they are voting for Oz by a wide margin. Fetterman continues to enjoy a ten-point lead among female voters, while men prefer Oz at that same rate," Towery explained.
At least Oz hasn't personally helped get 10 first degree murderers get out of jail.
Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. and Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman has helped release at least 10 convicts serving life sentences for first-degree murder. Fetterman, who chairs the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons, often talks about wanting to put an end to state law that requires mandatory life sentences without parole for those convicted of second-degree murder, but his voting record on the board shows he has successfully supported the release of at least 10 people who were convicted of taking a life. In April, Fetterman voted along with the rest of the board to release Felix Rosado, fulfilling the unanimous vote requirement to recommend clemency to the governor. Rosado was serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to shooting a man to death in 1995. On July 14, Democratic Gov. As Twitchy reported earlier, reporter Dave Weigel recently interviewed Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman (over Google Meet, of course) and the subject of the black jogger he chased down with his truck and held at gunpoint came up. Fetterman, without pushback, said it was "a split-second decision in the face of gunfire" -- except there was no gunfire. Fetterman has been criticized as soft on crime and wanting to release murderers onto the streets, so Weigel asked him when someone convicted of first-degree murder deserved clemency. Fetterman then described "The Morgan Freeman Test":
It's really a very simple choice. I believe the perfect metaphor is "The Shawshank Redemption." That's a touchstone that virtually everybody has seen, everybody understands. I've asked people, would you want Morgan Freeman to die in prison or not? And I've never met anybody that says, "Yeah, he should die in prison. I would have voted to have him die in prison."

I really don't know why anyone ever believes that Life In Prison really means life in prison. Someone should do a study on how many of these people actually serve these sentences.
It doesn't give me a lot of faith in a government that won't administer the death penalty to guilty people, yet blithely consign innocent babies to death all the time. Oh, and at the same time they aren't permitting anyone to be executed, they tell the grieving victims of said criminals 'that's ok, they'll get life without parole', knowing that is a cruel lie.

I liked it. Never read the book, though, so it's nice to know who Red really was. Agree about Clancy Brown. He's a great actor, and it's nice to see him get lots of work at his advanced age (Punisher, Billions, etc.) He's good in everything he does.

Andy wasn't framed. He just had a lifetime's worth of bad luck hit in one day. IIRC, his wife was cheating and wanted a divorce, he said he'd see her in Hell before he saw her in Reno, he bought a gun, went to where she was staying, sat in the car, chickened out, and threw the gun away. Meanwhile, a thief/murderer just happened to be passing thru town and randomly picked her. The only reason the jury was out so long is they wanted the court to pay for their lunch.
Red was in prison for cutting the brake line on his wife's car to get a cheap divorce plus insurance money. Unfortunately for him, his wife gave their neighbor+child a lift that day.

Green Mile the novel, another prison story, is more the sort of thing King is known for: There's a supernatural or "weird" element to it. But it is riveting, as his work usually is. I haven't seen the whole film, though the casting looks spot-on.

Exactly. King wanted to tell a serial story, one part to be released each month the way Dickens's novels once appeared in magazines, or the way pulp SF novels used to do. So each section has a good hook to keep you ready to buy the next installment.
The same director, Frank Darabont, did both Green Mile and Shawshank -- along with Rob Reiner, one of the few directors who've actually captured the spirit of a King story.

According to one of the featurettes on the DVD, Stephen King called this film the single most faithful adaptation of his work.
The reason Stephen King serialized "The Green Mile" was a deliberate response to fans who flipped to the end of his books, something his mother used to do. Publishing it in installments meant that fans would have to wait for the last installment to find out the ending. King wrote each one with its own miniature climax, but even he admitted he did not have a clue how the story would end.
Fifteen mice were used in the movie. Each spent months being trained to do different tricks.

People underestimate the damage Obama did to the party. Those thousand seats across all levels that were lost during his administration represent a lot of rising democrats who were pushed out of politics. What you're left with are the Old Guard (Pelosi, Schumer, etc.) who are in safe blue seats, and the young activist class.

He's a John Wayne kind of actor, not a huge amount of range, but effective and interesting on screen every time. He's not a great actor but he is very entertaining. At this point Samuel Jackson is the same way. He used to have a lot more range and acted but how he basically plays the same guy in every role, but with a different look.

Fetterman was way ahead and now the race is tied if not Oz with a small lead. He's a first time candidate who had a tough primary that was extremely close but over the last month or so he's clearly gaining momentum and Fetterman is being exposed.
And Biden won the state in 2020 not Trump even if it was largely done by cheating. The other Senator is a Democrat and so is the Governor.

I could understand Trump getting involved if say he was trying to avoid a RINO candidate getting the nom. But it accomplished the opposite.
Still, one would think a squishy Republican type would do well in a state like PA.
