Virginia Democrat Who Proposed Prosecuting Parents As Child Abusers for Not "Affirming" a Transitory Trans "Identity" Tries to Backtrack, But Republicans Are Seizing and Pouncing Anyway

Elizabeth Guzman, a Stunning and Brave Latinx who represents parts of blue Northern Virginia, is re-introducing a bill first introduced by Democrats in 2020 which will amend the law against child abuse to include, and also treat as a possible felony, the refusal of parents to "affirm" a gender identity.

The Stunning and Brave Latinx is now crying foul that when she told a TV news station that she would be charging parents with a misdemeanor or even a felony for Failure to Use Pronouns With Malice Aforethought, that TV news station dared to air her statement. Tan soplado!

In case you missed her Stunning and Brave threat to put parents in jail for not cutting off their children's genitals:

Ian Prior
@iandprior

Oct 13

@NickMinock is reporting that @guzman4virginia is leading the charge to "expand the definition of child abuse to include parents that do not affirm their child's gender identity." /2 [Link to story.]

@guzman4virginia said that there would be a CPS investigation and "it could be a felony, it could be a misdemeanor, but we know that a CPS charge could harm your employment." /3

Guzman claims not to be criminalizing parents but to be "educating them" and that "we haven't seen any parents come against it."

Oh, you will be seeing that @guzman4virginia. /4

They love going after your employment, and they love telling you that they're making you unemployable to "educate you."

The day is coming when we're going to start "educating" them back.

But that part about "no parents coming forward to object"? Well, turns out, parents are objecting, and Democrats are panicking, telling WUSA9, "That stanky biotch don't know which way is up."

Those who supported this same bill in 2020 are now saying there's no support for it and they won't support it, so don't worry about it! Just kidding, we're not going to send parents to jail! (Until we get the political strength to send them to jail...)

The offices of the several patrons of the 2020 bill told WUSA9 that the bill does not have the support to pass it and that the Republican House Speaker will never put it up for a vote. Delegate Guzman still stands by the original purpose of the legislation.

The office of multiple patrons involved in the 2020 legislation told WUSA9 that they have not been in conversations with Guzman's office and that they do not plan to push the plan forward in the next general session.

Stunning and Brave Latinx Elizabeth Guzman claimed her clear words which cannot be mischaracterized, referring to a bill whose language is easily accessible and states plainly that parents who do not affirm their children's gender transition may be prosecuted for the crime of child abuse, were in fact mischaracterized by an evil right-wing tv station.

Elizabeth Guzman
@guzman4virginia

As a social worker & mom of 4, I will always fight to protect LGBTQ children from abuse. to set the record straight on a misleading news piece from a Sinclair-owned affiliate that mischaracterized a pro-safety, anti-abuse bill I introduced in 2020 to protect LGBTQ youth. 1/

What's misleading? She just keeps calling this an "anti-abuse bill" -- yes, we know that's your intent. You intend to make it the law that not "affirming" gender transitions constitutes child abuse, and then you intend to prosecute that. That's your idea of "anti-abuse."

This is not a rebuttal or clarification -- this is a restatement and a doubling-down which is dressed up as a rebuttal or clarification.

While the Democrats are saying "Don't worry, that bill will never even come to the floor," the Republican Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates says, "Oh yeah it's definitely coming to the floor, because I'm going to bring it to the floor, and make every Democrat vote on it."

Very well then: It is time for another lesson.

This one more painful. So that you won't forget again.

How fucking dare they.

Republicans should just let Democrats say whatever they want without consequence. It's the only good thing to do in the middle of an election year.

Your job is their weapon. We see it all the time, and not just recently with COVID. California has for many years now punished people who don't make their child support payments but taking away their drivers licenses. The punishment has nothing to do with the crime, and will make earning money much, much harder because you really need a car in most of California. The implication - unstated but obvious - is "pay up or lose your job" and then you'll go to jail.

there's a point in a progression of events like this - whether it's in a company that's going bankrupt, or when you're in a car on black ice with all the tires locked up and you're not slowing down even the tiniest bit - where those in the middle of it just say "oh fuck it, time to ride it out and see what happens." No, it ain't gonna be anything good, but the time when good outcomes were possible is long since past.

88 Two comments.

How degraded and pathetic the electorate is - that this kind of toxic insanity is not greeted with instant political oblivion for the perps - continues to amaze and sicken. Introducing such an absurd and evil bill would have in prior times resulted in the end of Guzman's career, overnight.

The GOP leader here has stumbled upon part of the appropriate approach. Put every bit of toxic, hateful, illiterate, racist garbage that now constitutes the Dems' approach to public policy up for votes - constantly. Make them walk the plank.

Only problem on the federal level - the GOP is a big part of the problem, and feels comfortable voting for some absurd stuff (like the "gun control" legislation during this Congress).

In another separate incident, two obviously abused kids beat the crap out of their older step brother. In the latter (after CPS intervened), the guardians told the oldest girl that she should have lied to the school person who asked how the older step brother got his bruises.

I shudder to think what those kids go through.

DeSantis would be great, but the reality on the ground is that Trump is going to have the right side of the party's donors locked up within a week of the end of the midterms.

The left side of the party isn't going to be throwing money at DeSantis. Never mind the fact that Trump is going to walk away with IA, NH, and SC without even trying.

Then, unless they adopted kids to prostitute them, they realized raising kids is hard work. Plus their numbers are too small to effect the change they want this way.

So now to expand their woke numbers and continue to destroy society they want to castrate our kids bodies and minds. They've come for our children.

152 Right which is why they were reelected and are steering GOP policy

I mean, he over stated it for effect, but he's not entirely wrong. McCain died in office. The GOP leadership is made up entirely of what people erroneously call "RINOS". Reagan was a RINO. Trump is a RINO. The Republican Party is just boilerplate GOPe.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at October 17, 2022 12:45 PM (Ivdso)

153 I mean, maybe? But it's not going to stop Trump from calling all the donors in mid-November and securing enough money to laugh his way to the nomination in 2024.

154 136 My opinion (worth what you pay for it) is that DeSantis is making sure he's ready if Trump flames out for some reason; but I really doubt that he'll go head to head and run a contested race against Trump. He doesn't need to; we often forget that at only 44 years old, he is currently the youngest Governor in the entre country. He doesn't need to be in a hurry to run for the Presidency, he's got decades to play with.
Posted by: Tom Servo at October 17, 2022 12:42 PM (trdmm)

========

Another factor is that DeSantis isn't accidentally getting media attention that leads to his sudden popularity. It's been sustained because he has decided to take the fight to the left in the most public of ways.

He's operating like he doesn't think he's a flash in the pan. He's operating like he understands the game and is going to play it for a long time.

He won't need to take advantage now of his popularity because he thinks he can keep this up.

The left side of the party isn't going to be throwing money at DeSantis. Never mind the fact that Trump is going to walk away with IA, NH, and SC without even trying.

After the win in a couple of weeks, he's Governor until 2026. It wouldn't hurt him at all politically to stay Governor til '26 and then devote 2 years to campaigning for the 2028 elections, when it looks like there won't be any incumbent running.

200 What ShainS said @114.

And remember almost all actual Dem voters don't think they got away with election fraud. They mindlessly swallow and repeat the "election denial" idiocy, if they give it any thought at all.

There were some survey results that were kinda shocking, showing what % of Dems suspected a fraudulent election process in 2020, but those perceptions are too weak or too easily smothered by the standard tribal mindless impulses that they do not appear to have had any lasting impact.

And a key but uncomfortable point that remains despite all this - if indeed the 2020 presidential was stolen, it wasn't stolen by millions, it was stolen by a few 10s of thousands (the actual margins that turned the electoral outcome). If a GOP candidate as comically absurd as Biden were ever to run, he/she would win about 7 states. By a small margin.

There was a really good article posted the other day, probably in JJ's thread. I'll see if I can find it.

Essentially sexuality is pretty much fixed and known, but taboos - and shame - are required to reinforce it. When those taboos/shame go away, you get 30% of college kids pretending they're gay instead of the standard 1% that was sexually or mentally abused.

During a congressional debate on Sunday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) alleged the Democratic Party “represents grooming children and sexualizing them in school” while questioning her opponent, Marcus Flowers.

In response, Flowers only said that he’d pray for Greene:

He'll Pray For Her? CALL HER A FUCKING MORON!! Don't say you'll pray for her. It hardly matters since it's like an 80% repub District. But we need to ATTACK these PIECES OF SHIT, not use mamby pamby language like "I'll Pray For Her."

He should also demand that she show actual proof of all that BS she's spouting. And he should've kept demanding proof everytime she opened her lying, republican talking points spewing mouth.

Oohh...the left should be careful with this angle. When normies see the horrors of gender surgery, and traumatized, mutilated children that regret their decision, it doesn't end well...

Forgetting How To Be A Civilization

"...What we have now challenges a presupposition that I long held: that sexual desire was fairly fixed. I think we now see that it is more fluid than we once thought, and that heterosexuality is partly something innate, but also something that must be achieved... Taboos play a meaningful role in telling people what they should desire, and therefore guiding them to maturity.

I think back to the all-male dorm I lived in during my last two years of high school. Think of a dorm full of 100 high school juniors and seniors, in the early 1980s. Imagine the pent-up sexual desire..."

No, I had it wrong... it was a different wretched cunt... Amy Cannava, talking about snatching kids from their parents and farming them out to pederasts so they can get the good, solid buggering every child deserves:

"Guzman, a social worker, went public with her plans to introduce the bill a week after The Daily Wire reported that a National Association Of School Psychologists official named Amy Cannava boasted that she was working with an unnamed state delegate matching Guzman's description to craft such legislation.

'I want to see a kid in a home with food and shelter and insurance and support, but I also don't want to lose kids to death,' Cannava said, adding that 'I will not deny the fact that I have put parents in their place in my office or at school.'

Cannava is also affiliated with a group called the Pride Liberation Project that said it would pick up trans and gay teens who didn't like their parents, and 'work with other supportive adult organizations in the region to find you someone who can provide you a kind and affirming home.'"

306 MAE, not exactly, and that's why I reco "Japan's Longest Day". The Big Six imperial conference was already in the works, Kido had moved the pieces into place, and Hirohito was almost certainly game, before Nagasaki news or information was being processed.

No dithering. The war party was unmoved by what (not entirely incorrectly) they perceived as just another bombing. After all, most of Japan's cities like in ruins and ashes already. The Army announced it had developed counter-measures to reduce casualties.

The bombings didn't change the positions of any of the few people who mattered (we will never truly know Hirohito's views but his statements up to that point and his tolerance of Kido's actions strongly suggest he was looking for a way out). They did provide a hook for Hirohito to pull the plug (his statement to the Big Six to accept the Potsdam Declaration, and his radio address, share a key common theme: "my people have suffered enough".

But both books are good - and the story they tell is pretty wild. Japan was plunged into war and ruined by inadequate people working within a system that was totally dysfunctional, for cultural and historic reasons.

So even while the Holy Spirit was refining the heart to be more attuned to the misfortune of blunt instruments (like the Law itself), all through this process, order was still kept by harsher secular law.

354 A third bomb, a Fatman, was promised for availability by October. After that, a monthly production delivery was promised (3 per month?). Don't recall what the target list would have been. Probably Kokura again ("the luckiest city in Japan", second mission had it as the primary, but had to divert to the secondary, Nagasaki, after smoke prevented the required visual aiming).

Tokyo I don't think would ever have been on the list, for 2 reasons. Nobody left to negotiate with, and importantly to impose surrender on Japanese forces strung across east Asian and the western Pacific (a big concern up until it happened). And a desire to avoid cultural destruction that would tremendously alienate/radicalize a post-surrender populace (reason Kyoto was removed from all target lists).

Marshall and Army planners sought 3 nukes per Olympic landing area, so 9 total. Was never a choice "between" invasion or nukes. Both courses involved nukes. And that was just Olympic. Coronet in March '46 may well have called for more nukes to support landings.

407 You sure about the production schedule MAE?

The Nagasaki mission was a giant CF that just barely came off.

Sweeney got out of Bock's Car and went to talk with Tibbetts on the deck, after his engineer reported they couldn't access their reserve fuel tank (which made the mission a close-run thing, logistically). Tibbetts ordered them to proceed.

There was strategery behind this. We wanted the Japanese to believe that we had plenty of these things, and they could have as many as they wanted dropped on them. The quick 1-2 punch was intended to convey this. Weather was a second concern, as a big system was moving in - and the nuke missions were strictly visual-bombing*.

Don't believe serial production was promised till October.

* I think there's a decent chance the bomb commander and bombardier for Nagasaki fibbed a bit when they claimed they had visual through a break in the clouds - Sweeney had made it clear they were getting rid of the bomb, and as it was they landed on fumes at their bingo airfield in Okinawa

They were given all the toys they ever wanted and allowed to experiment and come up with wonderful new things. I mean, a lot of it ended up as weapons (Werner Von Braun was famously upset at this, he just wanted to make a rocket to get into space) but their country was a war, not exactly shocking.

None of their tech was used to torture Jews or anything like that, it was weapons for soldiers to use against soldiers, in theory at least. I am guessing it was pretty easy for them to rationalize the buzz bombs hitting civilians, regular bombing wasn't that much more accurate anyway.

426 Concept of nuclear explosives was known to Japanese scientists, yes Germans were key in getting to that point but it was known throughout the physics community world-wide.

Ensuring orderly surrender of Japanese forces was a very very big concern - reasonably so - and affected lots of decisions. It was the primary worry once Potsdam had been accepted.

And it wasn't just a worry on the Allied side. Hirohito himself offered to tour major deployment areas and deliver the surrender order personally. This was partly a rejoinder to counter some Army protests that the forces would never accept surrender, but it was clearly also a serious proposal.

Sweeney decided to go ahead with mission before take off when it was found one wing tank would not feed. This cost him 600 gallons of fuel.

He had to wait 40 minutes at the rendezvous point for second observer plane to appear. It never did so he pressed on to Kokura.

After three runs over the AP in Kokura the weather never cleared for a visual bombing. So the plane went to Nagasaki.

Nagasaki was also socked in until Sweeney's bombardier spotted a break in the clouds. The bomb landed wide of target and the B-29 was forced to land on Okinawa with almost no fuel.

442 In theory, Russia's huge arsenal of howitzers and multiple-launch rocket systems should be able to destroy HIMARS by using counter-battery radar to track the trajectory of the rockets it fires back to their launch point.

Ah, but those clever Americans have a trick, according to Avia's unsigned blog post: They designed HIMARS so its rockets would change trajectory and fool counter-battery radars.

"This can be seen from the missile's flight path, which, in fact, shifts the coordinates set by counterbattery means of combat by hundreds of meters, making it impossible to deliver accurate strikes," the post says, pointing to videos of Ukraine firing the rockets.

443 I think most likely the two party system exists to allow the facade of representative government and is also easiest for the State to control. Posted by: MAGA_Ken
------------------
Look up Duverget's Law. If you have first past the post, you will get a two major party system because people hate wasted votes. You can also read Anthony Downs on the subject. You have proportional representation, you will get 3 plus parties depending on whether there is a cutoff or not. Germany's for example at least used to be 5 percent or below were wasted votes. At the other extreme is Brazil and Israel where sometimes a party is just one candidate or so. You used ranked choice voting, then Cordocet's Theorem predicts that political minority candidates will win more frequently that do not reflect the majority of voters political preferences due to cycling issues. Every single system allows for backstabbing, double dealing, and lying.

All systems ultimately fail because humans are sinful and selfish. Eventually no matter how well designed, they fall apart and corrupt, it is absolutely inevitable.

That's why capitalism is so brilliant: because it weaponizes human greed and corruption to the greatest benefit to the largest number of people.

514 Mayorkas swiped at Republicans during a call with The Dallas Morning News. Their rhetoric is causing problems at the border, not the Biden administration:

“I’ve got a lot of work to do, and I intend to continue to do it. That’s my response,” he said, during a meeting with The Dallas Morning News editorial board.

He added that “the political cry that the border is open” — a common refrain from GOP critics — “is music to the smugglers’ ears, because they take that political rhetoric and they market it” to desperate migrants from Venezuela and other countries.

It is a thing. People often accept what they feel is injustice in their own lives but become oh so virtuous proclaiming about injustice to others. Part of the reason that the idea of a rational voter is often heavily criticized because quite often that vote is not congruent with their own actions in personal life.

530 From what I've read of the early Soviet space program, the Russians didn't really put "their" Germans to much use, due to their usual paranoia. They kept them separated from the Russians doing the actual work. Some of the Germans who had volunteered to go over to the Soviets got pretty depressed at doing nothing but paper studies unrelated to the real hardware development.

Interesting. Pretty much checked out of the game scene in the 90's but history tends to vary a bit on the latter two stages. Part of the reason is far too much popular history focuses on Rome rather than other examples. Italy, for example during the Middle Ages through the Renaissance had about every form of government in existence and Greece nearly did so.

549 Off Topic: Now that Ukraine seems to be winning, the Neocons seem to be upping the ante?

The US is supposedly putting together another Billion Dollar arms give-away. Ukraine wants longer range ATACMS Ballistic Missiles along with more HIMARS missiles, and others are pushing to give Ukraine modern Main Battle Tanks and modern Fighter Jets. Sure seems they want to push Russia into a corner.

Posted by: rd at October 17, 2022 12:51 PM (Z32m1)

In fact, the well has pretty much dried up. In the last go round of arms for Ukraine, the money was for an order for our builders to make a HIMARS, not to ship one out there. That will obviously take quite a while to get on the field. Even worse is the ammo situation. Everything shipped out the last 6 months has not been replaced and stocks for the main army are very low.

I don't see MBTs getting sent - it isn't like anyone in the EU has plenty of spares and it would be an instant provocation. There's a reason that NATO keeps turning down Ukraine as a member - they don't want all out war with Russia.
