Blake Masters Is In a Dead Heat With Mark Kelly For Arizona Senate.
So Why Is Mitch McConnell Pulling $8 Million Out of the Arizona Race?

The latest Emmerson poll -- and Emmerson is a leftwing college in Boston -- has the Arizona race at 47% for the incumbent Democrat Mark Kelly, 45% for the challenger Republican Blake Masters. An incumbent who is just barely ahead -- within the margin of error, actually, so that's a statistical tie -- is in trouble.

Spencer Kimball, Executive Director of Emerson College Polling said, "A stark gender divide exists in the Arizona Senate Election; men break for Masters by a 10-point margin whereas women voters break for Kelly by 13. Additionally, Independent voters favor Kelly over Masters, 46% to 37%."

Meanwhile, Democrat Katie Hobbs and the supposedly "unelectable" Ultra-MAGA Republican Extremist Semi-Fascist Election Denier Insurrectionist Kari Lake are tied at 46%, with a majority expecting Lake to win. Which is often a sign that more people are actually supporting her than are admitting it to pollsters. (That is, they'll say they're undecided about their vote, but then when asked who they believe other people will vote for, they'll say the candidate they know is socially disfavored by the establishment media.)

In the gubernatorial election, Democratic nominee Katie Hobbs and Republican nominee Kari Lake are dead even, with 46% support each. Six percent are undecided and 2% plan to support someone else. A majority of voters (54%) expect Lake to win, while 46% expect Hobbs to win the election for Governor.

Despite Masters being in a statistical tie with the incumbent, the Senate Leadership Fund -- a creature of McConnell and his corporate sponsors -- nixed a planned $8 million ad buy there. Instead, he attempted to badger Thiel into spending his money in the race. (Thiel refused.)

Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC associated with McConnell, nixed around $8 million in advertising reservations in Arizona last month. After that, multiple outlets reported that McConnell was in talks with Peter Thiel, who put more than $13 million behind Masters through the Saving Arizona PAC in the primary, to provide financial support in the general election as well.

Why is McConnell refusing to spend money in a winnable race? Because, of course, he is a petty and vindictive Establishment Corporate Cvck, and like all Establishment Corporate Cvcks, he destroys any Republican who defeats an Establishment Cvck in a primary.

McConnell would rather have a minority caucus of Establishment corporate China-lackey cvcks than a majority that includes some America First patriots that might buck his "leadership" and question his commitment to a China First agenda.

Update: Is Mitch McConnell feeling pressured to at least pretend he has some interest in winning an election?

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has reportedly changed his mind on Republican chances of retaking control of the Senate in the midterm elections.

Previously in doubt that Sen. Rick Scott's (R-FL) plan at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) would yield positive results, McConnell was cautiously optimistic Republicans will gain the majority, the Chamber of Commerce told Axios.

Mitch McConnell has been feuding with Rick Scott, who has sensibly proposed, get this, spending money in these races to define Democrats.

...

With less money in the bank after the financial investment, McConnell suggested Scott should use his personal resources to further aid Republican candidates. McConnell and his wife were worth about $60 million in 2018.

Scott's early investment to define Democrats seems to be paying off. Polling across the board, swing state races have improved in recent weeks. Races in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada have tightened within the margin of error. In Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Republican candidates still hold leads.

Breitbart notes that McConnell is most likely attacking Thiel, telling Thiel to spend money on Masters so that he doesn't have to himself, as a proxy attack on Rick Scott, for daring to challenge him.

But McConnell will supposedly now fundraise with Masters. I'm not sure what Mitch McConnell's presence does to increase fundraising. I guess it brings in some corporate donors.

The James Madison thinks that McConnell is not showing a change in heart, just a change in tactics.

He just doesn't want to get blamed for the defeat he is actively attempting to engineer:

Mitch's public statements are not reflections of what he actually believes. His public statements reflect public, media polls, which are all about shaping narratives. He's part of that machine that, during the summer, was trying to force feed America a diet of more Democratic control.

He worked to make that happen with his control over RNC and RSCC funds. It didn't work. He's one of the most powerful men in the country, in the Republican Party, and he couldn't actually change reality to fit his preferred outcome.

Now, he's just playing catchup.

Because Mitch McConnell is a c***y c**t, and has no desire to be majority leader if it means having to share the senate with MAGA senators.

12 I tend to think that if Republicans and Democrats with no star power are that close in AZ in this environment, then AZ is a lost cause. I'd be more swayed by arguments that these polls were wrong and significantly understate GOP support than the argument that a statistical tie in a state Trump lost (by chicanery or not) in a poor economy is a reason to invest in TV ads.

Exceptions can be made if the gap is massive, but usually incumbents are known, and the undecideds break for the challenger.

30 You've got to look at the crosstabs of these polls too. All the national ones, which honestly don't mean shit when it comes to state and local elections, are over sampling 2020 Biden voters, sometimes at double thre rate he won in 2020, which was an outlier year. And even then they only have Biden and Democrats up by the margin of error.

Pretty much every other metric they use is also horribly skewed towards Dems.

40 ace, you should check out the premise that Robert Cahaly, the head of Trafalgar polling, posted over the weekend while you were goofing off.

He claims that because of Democrat tactics including calling Trump supporters fascists, racists and ever other ist under the sun they have created what he calls the "submerged voter". This is similar to the "shy Trump" voter that occurred in 2016 where Trump and his supporters were so thoroughly trashed in the media that remained silent and wouldn't speak with pollsters, did put up yard signs, wear t-shirts or hats and generally hid their support for Trump.

He claims this is happening to a greater extent now and America First candidates like Masters and Lake are likely to be a bit ahead of where current polling, even his, shows.

I disagree. The hardcore abortion folks are already baked into the vote. 15 weeks is pretty much universally accepted as a cutoff, so it's not going to upset a whole lot of undecided voters for the GOP to support that. It will, however, undermine any Dem who votes against it. It'll open them to an attack that they want unlimited abortion, and if they push back, they risk pissing off the Karens who make up the dem base.

Mitch's power comes from his leadership position, if he loses that, he loses everything. Every MAGA senator is a direct threat to his power (and Miss Lindsey's) hence, he's playing as hard as he can for the other team. Today's statement was for appearance and a nod to reality. Scott is at open war with him and will challenge. He may even kick in some bucks to Masters to get him over the line and gain another vote.

There are enough readily swayable moderate woman who may like Republican policies, but don't want a man telling her what to do with her body. Grahams comment gets more of them to vote for Democrats than it does getting women to vote Republican.

I am of the belief that his plan is to retire after the 24 gov election in KY provided his preferred establishment man gets the win over someone like say AG Daniel Cameron. This would allow him to get his handpicked replacement for the final 2 years of his term. If a person becomes gov that is america first then all options are on the table including him dying in office.
