Grateful Bear Cub Cafe

toledospain.jpg
Toledo, Spain.

Next-level hide-and-seek. See if you can spot him.

This armadillo.

That's not a sneeze. Now that's a sneeze.

Sassy cat.

Swaying booby.

You never had a chance to keep your hamster inside its hamster cage. They're just too good.

Oh my goodness -- a slobber-hound has been trained to wipe off his slobber! What an advancement in dog-human relations!

Damp beavers.

Blowing bubbles.

Scaredy-cat.

A tempestuous relationship.

Cuteness blitz attack.

Happy dog.

F*ck, it's Monday?!

The forbidden, passionate love between a dog and a duck.

Does this dog have the hyperspace button from Defender?

Slidin' into Tuesday like...

Stanley loves ice cubes. Our puppies love ice cubes. They're teething and ice is nice and cold.

Her Majesty put Ruthie on a leash for the first time and she did very well. They're all smart cookies.

22 I work at a supermarket and my only real rule about food is that, I'll eat it if it doesn't eat me first. And, we get piles of markdown Organic whatevers.
Story to continue.
So, I bought these markdown/expired date 'vegan Italian Sausages' for a dollar for five. I'm like, 'How bad could they be and/will they kill me.' Well, they were not great, it was like a bean burrito in sausage form and not appealing, but I bought them, so I ate them... except.
I left one in the pan and The Cat waited for me to depart and stole one! They are spicy, actually, and then she rumbled around the house drooling and yowling, like it was All My Fault.

27 I've got a couple of armadillos that nest under a shed, and periodically dig holes in my (poorly maintained) yard to get at the grubs.

I welcome them, and have never bugged 'em. The holes close up pretty quick.

My friend, however, takes a darker view of their antics. He asks me one day if shooting them with a .22 is a good idea...

The ex had a kubaton on her keyring; after 9/11 she went thru DHS security and they seized it. It's a solid metal cylinder about 1/2" by 6 inches long (there are many varieties) with a flat end and some grooves to help with gripping it. She got it as part of a self defense class taught by... the police.

I guess she was going to overpower the entire crew, the passengers, the pilots and make them fly her to the North Pole. Or something.

92 There was one Russian Blue, a rescue cat, who could talk and was the nicest guy ever. He knew words: 'Mom', 'Where'. I found him boring until he started sleeping all the time on badly torn cartilage in my left knee. I thrash in my sleep, move around. He rode that knee like a surfer.
He did it for about two years.
It was like having a healing hot pack on that knee. Incredible. My knee actually healed up. Weight and heat.
He went out with style, too: (had a brain aneurysm, found out later) made a 'click' sound, and fell over at 14.
Out like a light.

113 That Sheriff in Texas is unBexarably stoopid.

I lived in San Antonio, 1976 through 1999. It *used* to be a rather conservative, pro-military town. Four USAF bases and Ft. Sam Houston, a major Army medical facility.

When BRAC shut down 90% of Kelly AFB, killed the Kelly name and gave adjoining Lackland AFB the former Kelly ops on "that side" of the runway, they cut the beating heart out of the pro-military civilian population surrounding those bases. Kelly was an Air Logistics Command base, rebuilding B-52s, C-5s and T-38s. *poof*, and just like that, +20k jobs were gone.

I moved out barely in time, as office by office, the libs slowly slipped in and grabbed power. SO happy I don't live there now, it's liberal rot-ville.

Even an average cat can be quite the bundle of purr. But when we're really lucky, one of those "gifted" cats comes into our lives. Some are more like dogs, some are hard to tell apart from a petulant child. But the smarts crackle off of them like lightning (sorry, Salty!), and you look into their eyes, and they look back into yours. And you know you're in touch with an intelligent soul. No mistaking it. Takes a special dog to that that same buzz, too. There's dogs, and then there's DOGS!

I've never seen the effects of a lightning strike on a house but I've seen a coupe boats that were hit by lightning. My buddy got the contract to repair a 50 foot catamaran that was hit by lightning and it took over 2 years to repair it.

The rig was toast, entire electrical system and all the electronics had to be replaced, lots of the interior cabinets and furniture was destroyed and there was widespread structural damage to the hull as well. His team did a great job but no way I'd go offshore in that boat.

Right after I bought my house in Denver, I put in a lightning rod.

All you need is a TALL steel Pole, taller than your house, and either plant it at least 6 feet in the soil, OR, have it wired to a metal stake at least 6 feet down. Keep it a couple of feet away from your home... attaching it to your home is asking for problems.

I actually made mine into a big Flagpole... stuck about 20 feet above the roof of my 2 story house (but if you have an HOA, check rules... I was lucky enough to check and get a waiver).

Yes, the feeling I get in San Antonio is more eerie. Maybe it's because I live near Dallas and it's familiar I'm not able to see it any more here. I don't know. Houston is so damn huge and Austin is full of drunks and college twits. They all have a different vibe but are equally governed by idiots and populated by ever-more idiots. 200 The closest that San Antonio ever came to (post Alamo) "greatness", was Hemis-Fair '68. First class job in a second class city.

Good example of how San Antonio was, is and always shall be the Queen of Grift in Texas? The Alamaodome. Mayor Henry Cisneros PROMISED the voters that he'd land San Antonio an NFL team. If you'll build it, they will come? Yeah, and that NFL team is known as the Houston Texans. NFL didn't even so much as fart in San Antonio's direction.

The Alamadome gets used for a few big college games, and miscellaneous, minor other events that few other than the participants even know of, much less care about. And the taxpayers will be paying off that bond issue for another generation or two.

Riverwalk? Yeah, it's just an overly landscaped ditch with restaurants, and damn few places or benches to sit down and take a load off. And the sprawl will soon make Austin, San Marcos & San Antonio a pseudo Los Angeles, a mess of Metro Hell, far beyond what the eye can see.

Why don't they contribute a small fraction of their wealth to assist seriously disabled veterans and the families of KIA troops?

If 20 of them each deposited a Billion Dollars in some of the top-notch investment funds they control or have access to, it seems the money wouldn't run out unless we get into a shooting war with China. To put some numbers on it, building or buying a $500K home for 2,000 disabled vets or the families of dead soldiers and first responders is $1 Billion.

I suppose the cost per year will be larger than I expect unless the criteria for assistance are pretty narrow. But still....

Was walking outside in Ohio and saw thunderstorm coming and lightning striking ahead. Turned to go back and was near the back of some houses in our development when it caught up. First the downpour, then it hit a metal shed 20 foot in front and it rang like a gong, we turned and it hit a tree along the tree line behind us and set it on fire despite the rain. We then ran to the back door of the house and it struck the TV antenna on the house as we crossed the yard and it glowed yellow hot for a few seconds.

It may not strike in the same place but it can come darn close.

We reject the Platforms’ efforts to reframe their censorship as speech. It is undisputed that the Platforms want to eliminate speech—not promote or protect it. And no amount of doctrinal gymnastics can turn the First Amendment’s protections for free speech into protections for free censoring.

That said, Republican's have only Graham as reliver and his recent outing with his 15 week abortion bill was pounced upon for multiple runs and will do NOTHING to strengthen the party position going into November.

Before Cisneros, there was Mayor Lila Cockrell. She put a lot of the bad actors into place. Then two terms of Wolff (r) held the line until Cisneros got in. And he pulled the pins on all of the Corruption Grenades. Any big city does this, but in San Antonio, anytime there's civic project larger than repaving your cul-de-sac, you can guar-an-damn-tee-it, that there's political operatives, "community organizers" and other poo-bahs wetting their beaks and lining their pockets.

Some enterprising academic could earn a Phd on San Antonio corruption. (and then be offed, Clinton-like, for the doing)

Now I mildly root for the Yankees and Durham Bulls. I don’t switch teams easily, I have never done it in any other league.
