Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Karine Jean-Pierre Defends Biden Celebrating on White House Lawn as Inflation Melted Down the Stock Market: It Was a "Celebration for the American People"After yesterday's expected "unexpected" report of another near-record month for inflation, the stock market fell by the greatest amount since the covid panic of 2020. U.S. stocks nosedived Tuesday after a surprising inflation report showed prices rose more than expected last month.Wall Street firms better start hiring some conservatives to balance out their dweeb cvck Yuppie liberals if they don't want to lose billions of dollars being surprised by all these "unexpected" events. All three major averages logged their worst day since June 2020. Technology stocks led the way down, with the Nasdaq Composite plunging 5.2%. Tuesday's session marks the seventh time this year the Nasdaq slid 4% or more, per data from Bespoke Investment Group. No declines of the same size were recorded last year, while 10 were experienced in 2020. The S&P 500 sank 4.3%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average erased more than 1,275 points, or roughly 4%.White House spokesdummy Karine Jean-Pierre defended Biden staging a "celebration" on the White House lawn, claiming the biggest drop in stock value since the covid panics of 2020 was a "celebration for the American people." When asked whether the lawn celebration created good optics when juxtaposed with the collapsing Dow, Jean-Pierre brushed off criticism of the event's tone. "Let's not forget the the moment that we saw on the South Lawn of the the president and thousands of get the inflation reduction act done was a celebration for the American people, was a win for the American people," Jean-Pierre told reporters during an off-camera gaggle Wednesday.Gnat-brained thuggette. Go deny some more elections, Insurrectionist. Larry Kudlow noted that inflation is spreading, and getting worse. Note that food prices rose -- "unexpectedly!" -- across the board. The only thing that kept this inflation report from being worse is the fact that we're in a recession, and in a recession, people use less fuel, because they travel less and produce less and ship less product. So Biden's recession has stopped the rise of Biden's fuel cost inflation. That is not a good way to slow the rate of inflation, though. A recession is not a good way to keep inflation down. Grid notes that "inflation is slowing for the wrong reasons." There's reason to believe that falling gas prices and energy prices will continue through the end of the year, which would effectively put a cap on any increase in overall inflation. But that's only part of the overall picture. One worrying aspect of this month's report was that "core" inflation -- the increase in prices not counting food or energy -- was 0.6 percent and is 6.3 percent over the past year. Some analysts had expected these prices to fall, and instead they went up. ... In August, most items the Bureau of Labor Statistics measures actually increased in price, but things related to oil fell, as well as used cars, whose prices fell 0.1 percent. These had been major drivers of inflation since the economy began to reopen. Where there were price increases -- and sizable ones -- were in things like housing and food and even utility gas. ... [I]nflation in goods and services besides food and energy -- whose prices are very closely linked to the global trade in commodities like oil and grain and are much more volatile -- would have to come down. This measure of inflation hasn't gotten close to 8 percent. It's right now running at 6.3 percent, which is an increase from last month's 5.6 percent annual rate. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expected the core measure to come in at 6.1 percent. This is still well north of the Fed's 2 percent target, which is actually targeting a version of this "core" price index.Businesses can cut back on fuel costs in response to a recession by simply producing and shipping less, but families can't cut rent, heating costs, and food costs just by using less.

Honestly, if you asked me why the "inflation party" happened with all the big wigs, the admin was probably promised by the politico in charge of the department that inflation would be lower and they could take a victory lap, even if some lower category numbers weren't great b/c the media would totally cover for any of those numbers...
This was an example of both fed gov rank and file just telling the emperor (through their politico) what he wanted to hear and the media deciding they weren't going to go along rank and file on this one... I mean, fed gov got 2.7 this year and is looking at 4.6 next year...that's NOWHERE close to the inflation the last 2 years, and they are probably getting restless about this, too. I mean, fed gov rank and file doesn't ever get midyear raises or big bonuses (or really any bonuses)... Posted by: Nova local at September 14, 2022 03:33 PM (exHjb) 125

"The only thing that kept this inflation report from being worse is the fact that we're in a recession, and in a recession, people use less fuel, because they travel less and produce less and ship less product."
This is of course not completely true across the board. Look at fuel oil and gas that people will be using to heat their homes this winter. That consumption is relatively stable and while there will be some conservation because people are being kicked in the nuts across the board by inflation, you need a certain amount of heat to not freeze to death. If the winter is colder then normal, expect fuel prices to rise. Posted by: Marcus T at September 14, 2022 03:33 PM (VpIIl) 128

According to a new study published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, acute corneal allografts are being rejected by immunized patients who've undergone the procedure. Researchers say the underlying cause could be tied to a systemic inflammatory response elicited by the shot post-jab.
The cornea is the outermost layer of a person’s eye. Corneal grafts are used to restore a damaged cornea. The surgery is known to be one of the most successful organ transplant procedures with low rejection rates. It restores vision, reduces eye pain and improves the appearance of the diseased cornea. Japanese researchers compiled data from 23 studies. A total of 23 eyes from 21 patients who had undergone corneal graft procedures were assessed. Graft rejection occurred anywhere from one day to six weeks after vaccination in all patients–some who underwent the procedure as far back as twenty years ago.
Posted by: Marcus T at September 14, 2022 03:33 PM (VpIIl) More like its nonsense. We already know fuel increases aren't counted in the numbers. So measuring inflation or the lack of it by fuel use is irrelevant. Posted by: Oldcat at September 14, 2022 03:44 PM (eoQWY) 192

--- It is traditional for Dems to seize railroads. Truman did it; Wilson did it. I'm sure Biden's handlers are already looking at this strike as an opportunity to issue a Reaganesque command to report to work to the Unions, similar to PATCO. They're also looking at nationalizing the railways. Before this is over, they'll simply compel various civilians identified as critical personnel to report to various industries such as Energy, Agriculture, and such. They're going to do everything they can, in concert with cooperative corporations, to turn this into a command economy before 2024. Posted by: Matchless at September 14, 2022 03:57 PM (4ybYD) 288

Now, if this is an intel leak, that's plausible. German intelligence has a long tradition of being well-represented by both sides. The U.S. government has accepted nearly $190 million in bids from an offshore oil and gas lease sale that was held nearly a year ago but rejected by a federal judge, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said Wednesday.
The action met a 30-day deadline set in the climate bill signed Aug. 16. That law also requires the bureau to reschedule three sales that had been put on hold by a moratorium ordered by President Joe Biden, with the first of them to be held by Dec. 31. She's gotten a lot of winner assignments: Embarking on a career in Foreign Service Tracy served in a variety of international assignments, focused especially in Central and South Asia, including Deputy Chief of Mission in Embassy Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Principal Officer in Peshawar, Pakistan from 1995 to 1997, and Principal Officer in Astana, Kazakhstan. Tracy served as Political Officer in Kabul, Afghanistan from 2002 to 2003, Consular Officer in Bishkek from 1997 to 2000, Kyrgyzstan and as Political/Consular Officer in Peshawar, Pakistan. --- In 2009 Tracy received the Secretary's Award for Heroism for her performance as Principal Officer in Peshawar. On Aug. 26, 2008, she had been attacked by gunmen who sprayed her automobile with bullets, shooting out the front tires. Tracy, her bodyguard and driver all escaped. Arcane liquor laws? MN had a good one: liquor stores were not allowed to be open on Sunday. However, the bars were. Which meant one could drive to the bar, get hammered and drive home, but going to the liquor store and taking the booze couldn't be done.

Danish Health Authority:
People aged under 50 are generally not at particularly higher risk of becoming severely ill from covid-19. In addition, younger people aged under 50 are well protected against becoming severely ill from covid-19, as a very large number of them have already been vaccinated and have previously been infected with covid-19, and there is consequently good immunity among this part of the population. It is important that the population also remembers the guidance on how to prevent the spread of infection, including staying at home in case of illness, frequent aeration or ventilation, social distancing, good coughing etiquette, hand hygiene and cleaning. A diesel truck owner's battle with the state of New Jersey is leading to the scrapyard. Mike Sebold initially received a letter from the state's Department of Environmental Protection after listing his modified 2008 Ram 2500 on Facebook Marketplace. Officials took issue with the pickup's deleted emissions equipment and, in turn, told Sebold his truck must be returned to stock or taken off the road. But after he decided to turn in his plates and keep it for off-road use, Sebold claims they've forced him to make an appointment with the crusher.

After much fussing around I went with the Bose - SoundSport Wireless Sports In-Ear Earbuds because they sound fine, are affordable ($129), simple to use, and most importantly the ear buds are connected to each other by a cable. The cable also has clip so you can anchor them to your clothing. Posted by: The ARC of History! at September 14, 2022 04:26 PM (I2/tG) --- Unfortunately, the 14th amendment allows Congress to make laws overriding States if it believes that they are abusing the rights of their citizens. This is exactly how the current Congress would plan to "ratify Roe". Because a state would not be recognizing a "right to reproductive choice". Booze is available here whenever the grocery stores are open. When I was a kid, you could buy liquor on Sunday, but not hardware. The only time the liquor aisle was roped off was Election Day.
Other parishes have their own rules. In Lafayette, you couldn't buy hard liquor after 2 am on Sunday morning. Then they added beer and wine. The annoying thing was that they did not post any signs at the beer cooler. If you were new in town, you toted your six-pack to the register all unknowing, and only then did they tell you, "Sorry, can't sell that." There are three things: No. 1, I legally acknowledge that Joe Biden secured a sufficient number of votes under our existing system to become the President of the US. I do not concede that the process was proper, nor do I condone that process. No. 2, I believe we won in that we transformed the electorate and achieved a dramatic increase in turnout. It was a systemic and, I think, sustainable change in the composition of the electorate and in the transformation of the narrative about America and American politics. Three, I have no empirical evidence that I would have achieved a higher number of votes. However, I have sufficient and I think legally sufficient doubt about the process to say that it was not a fair election.

Fighting on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan killed about 100 troops Tuesday as attacks on both sides fed fears of broader hostilities breaking out between the longtime adversaries. Armenia said at least 49 of its soldiers were killed; Azerbaijan said it lost 50.

I placed an order for a Crestron NVX system in January, Crestron says they won't be able to deliver it till Q3 of 23 if then.
I ordered a Ross Sync Generator in January, Ross notified me a couple of weeks ago that they are discontinuing it because they cannot get the parts for it any longer. Don't get me started on Bose Panaray Speakers. Posted by: Thomas Bender at September 14, 2022 04:31 PM (Flgn0) Here at work we had all sorts of suppliers telling us there would be no parts for the next 5 years, and we better put in orders so they'd know what to get. Now they are pissed because they're trying to deliver all the parts for the next 5 years now and making us pay now. Posted by: Oldcat at September 14, 2022 04:36 PM (eoQWY) 511

Some political doofus named D Jackson at USA Today writes a hilariously fact free missive in today's paper that the Dems and GOPe have all the momentum and those nasty Trump Republicans face "election obstacles" (unnamed obstacles, as it turns out, if you read his shit for brains article) - that despite sweeping most of the primaries, including New Hampshire yesterday (WTF? New Hampshire!). But D. Jackson doesn't let a few things like reality and facts get in the way of daydreaming about some Brooklyn Heights' "Manbun Heaven!"
The people writing these sloppy, factually farcical articles are either trying to moon normal people, or they are writing to impress their lefty manbun neighbor next door who thinks Stalin was just misunderstood...or both. It's embarrassing. Posted by: Boswell at September 14, 2022 04:51 PM (+Cgut) 520

Biden has sold off more than half the Strategic Oil Reserve (probably illegally). 200 MILLION Barrels sold in less than a year.
Just 2 years ago, Senate D's blocked Trump from filling it at $80. And now it needs >300 MILLION Barrels bought to fill it, when Trump wanted to do it that was So, its not just the Recession keeping gas prices After the election, they will start to refill it - and gas prices will soar over the winter.
