For Labor Day, I labored in the kitchen making some side dishes for the upcoming BBQ with the family. Then I labored at the reloading press making some more 9mm practice rounds.
The question about babies born on Labor Day reminded me of a story my dad told about his dad. He was once asked why so many of his kids were born in July. Had been listening to Bidet's largely hollered address at Milwaukee's LaborFest earlier today.
Unions, unions, unions built American and the middle class; protecting union pensions; all of the legislation (Infrastructure, PACT in particular) he's signed into law including for the support for veterans and their families 'when they're gone.' The downside: MAGA Republicans; Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin; one can't be pro-insurrection and pro-democracy; police lost their lives that day, 1/6; Sen. Rick Scott proposes Congress reauthorize Social Security, Medicare every five years, etc. Predictable, not as vicious as had been Philly's, more variety, but definitely political. Now he's on to Pittsburgh with the United Steelworkers to support Shapiro and Fetterman. Posted by: Lola at September 05, 2022 04:14 PM (NIYa7) 205

New 1st today - apparently, I got a priest (the new one in my Church) to publicly bitch to other adults about how long I took to explain water balloon directions to little kids at my Church's picnic today.
Of course, he didn't know he was within my spouse's ear shot. Did my spouse say anything like "Father, if you can do it better, maybe you should consider running the event?" No. Probably b/c he's a better person than I. Instead, he waited to tell me in the car. Of course, this was the same priest who refused my offer to actually be in the contest, but then watched it anyway. Sigh. It irritated me, b/c I went out of my way to volunteer for this picnic, and hello, it's not like I'm in perfect health or have unlimited time. But, I tell myself, people can be dicks, and that doesn't change just b/c you're a priest...and everyone who was in the contest had a great time. The Special Master ruling is going to sink team DOJ - they know it now. Andy McCarthy, who really is on team DOJ...gave up the reason earlier today.
You see, Trump's legal team filed for a special master immediately after the raid, and requested that documents that were attorney-client privilege AND executive privileged material be excluded or returned - the DOJ appointed their own 'privilege' reviewer only for attorney client, because they aren't after what is in there, necessarily, and ignored the executive privileged material claim. Because that is what they are after - they want to see what Mark Meadows or Ratcliff said to Trump while he was president so they can arrest them and him about J6. Now this Special Master could throw all that out - because the DOJ already looked through it all and, guess what? Andy has now got the sadz. When they feed, they lurk beneath the surface with their noses above the water, like a croc. When animals come to take a drink, the action begins! They mimicked this at the aquarium by throwing buckets of meat along the lagoon at certain times of day. Obviously not as cool as the real life, but I loved watching it anyway. Had a gender encounter with the phlebotomist at the blood bank yesterday. He asked for my gender and I said, My sex is female. Nevertheless, he persisted (spit) and said he needed to know what gender I identified with and I said, I'm not going to do that. Then he said he was "trans" and got snippy about just about every word he spoke to me. But I somehow managed to be polite and friendly all the while getting poked with needles (which he did professionally) and by the time I left, he apologized for being snippy about it. It was weird but I felt like I had won a small battle which is a big deal for Seattle, perhaps.
