CNN Cancels "Reliable Sources;" Announces the End of "The Tater Era"

flamingpotatoskull.gif

Mashed tater.

I just took the last post down because, well. Who can talk about anything else except this.

tatersad.jpg

CNN is canceling its Sunday media affairs show Reliable Sources, and host Brian Stelter is departing the network, Stelter tells NPR.

In a statement to NPR, Stelter says he's grateful for the show and his team's examination of "the media, truth and the stories that shape our world."

"It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential," Stelter said, promising to say more on Sunday's show -- its final episode.

...

CNN chief Chris Licht informed Stelter of the decision yesterday.

Thank to Comrade Flounder and others for tipping me.

Didn't I used to have a flaming baked potato?

pennyfattheclown.jpg

We're all clowning on Tater, but there's an old Greek saying: "When you go out in search of vengeance against Brian Stelter, first dig two graves. Because he's really, really fat, and he won't fit in just one."

Here's George Orwell's description of Parsons:

He was a fattish but active man of paralysing stupidity, a mass of imbecile enthusiasms -- one of those completely unquestioning, devoted drudges on whom, more even than on the Thought Police, the stability of the Party depended.

TATER = PARSONS!

Corrected. It was Winston's neighbor Parsons being described, not Winston.

Not sure they would want to do that because Liz apparently still wants to run for prezzie in 2024 which means she would have to depart a show just finding its audience.

More likely they would hire her as contributor to different shows as the token republican like the view does.

This right here is the 2nd time I've run into a Labyrinth analogy. The first time it happened was about a decade ago, I had not seen the movie (I am old enough to have seen it when it came out). I was so unprepared and could not participate in the conversation. I said to myself - holy hell, why have you not seen Labyrinth? So unprepared. Just sitting there politely at the table as others pattered on about Labyrinth. I swore to myself I'd see it so I'd never find myself in that kind of vulnerable position again.

Since that time, I have still not seen Labyrinth. Pretty sure this proves I don't have the right priorities in life.

621 kindltot,
Your post got me thinking as new streaming AceTV news channel resembling Weird Al's UHF movie.

You would have JJ, AtC, and Joe M doing the Morning Show. TJM and Moviegigue doing their Siskel and Ebert thing, Joe Mannix and RTG doing financial news. You would get the Prepper's corner show and general shows and AOP gets the ripped off Top Gear AceTV show. Beserker as the biker/metal show.

Rhomboid as foreign and political correspondent at large to lend class to it, Weasel as a better gun oriented version of Duck Dynasty, and so on. Ace gets the Max Headroom treatment as an poorly animated furry critter aka Ewok (enough to get by Disney's rights) with his own nighttime culture, news, and cruelty show of today's events. Sort of like Spy magazine was in its heyday.

I'd pay for it.

I was pitching a remote music course to a guy I know who teaches drumming, via Rumble videos and using the payment and commenting channel via Locals. He didn't want the hassle and he had a decent number of students, but it is a good model.
I have pitched it as a remote learning platform too.

Locals has a good subscription model, and you can set it so some videos are available to anyone who registers, and some are private to paying subscription members, and commenting and viewing comments is restricted to paying members.
I believe that Rumble videos can be set private to be seen only through the Locals platform

If you think an online news model is doable, I encourage you to take a shot at it.

Please don't hire Tater to strip during it though.
