Back from shaving; I have a few minutes before I have to dash off for the haircut. Fen, you had mentioned that your son had the option originally of working at a retirement home -- indoors, in the A/C? Is it still open? Because if his current boss is going to be, shall we say, annoying, your son could simply drop that hoe one fine day and walk into a more comfortable job.
At 17 or whatever age your son is, if I'd been forced to take a job and been offered "hot farm work" vs. "indoors," I know which I'd have taken. And it would have taken me no time at all to make that choice. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at July 23, 2022 09:04 AM (c6xtn) Posted by: Bitter Clinger at July 23, 2022 09:06 AM (R4WQ1) 7

Seeing commenters earlier mentiioning Richard Levine in conjunction with the debasement of the military, let me add a little perspective for folks:
When Richard Levine was appointed as Assistant Sec'y of HHS, he became the titular (heh!) leader of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. The Commissioned Corps is the little known seventh Uniformed Service (along with Army, Navy, AF, USMC, USCG and Space Force). It consists almost entirely of medical personnel, and operates under the auspices of the Surgeon General and Dept. of HHS, not the DoD. The Corps has uniforms, ranks and pay grades that mirror the military, but nobody really considers them a branch of the military. Levine, was therefore awarded an (essentially) honorary rank of Admiral, and now wears the uniform. Levine has had virtually no military training beyond perhaps a superficial familiarization briefing. Possibly the biggest impact of the rank of Admiral and the uniform is that Levine now wears his hair pulled back, emphasizing his mannish facial features, as well as not wearing his trademark large pearl/bead necklaces. (cont.) Posted by: Muldoon at July 23, 2022 09:11 AM (kXYt5) 22
(cont.) Levine remains a shill for Adolescent Medicine and an advocate for so-called 'gender affirming' care, such as puberty blockers and genital surgeries for teens and pre-teens. Levine maintains in an interview on MSNBC that any mental health issues experienced by these youth are solely the result of bullying.

A very weird thing is that within weeks, a jabbed person achieves negative efficacy -- more likely than unjabbed to get infected. Here's my unscientific theory: the reason there seems to be any protection at all (for 8-20 weeks, depending on how many shots; more shots, shorter protection window) is because the shots cause the incidence of spike proteins in the body, which "clogs up" the ACE-2 receptors, which then temporarily prevents Covid spike proteins from being able to dock in the ACE-2 receptors. With repeated shots, the body becomes more efficient cleaning up the vaccine spike proteins, so protection time shortens. Israeli study showed second booster protected for 8 weeks before going negative. Posted by: Emmie at July 23, 2022 09:16 AM (6RgRK) Posted by: Emmie at July 23, 2022 09:26 AM (6RgRK) 58

Immediately after vaccination there are high levels of antibodies. These levels decrease rapidly. The spike antibodies were ok against the original spike, but just kinda ok against the current one. That means, to get adequate protection, you need a crap ton of antibodies. The levels wane enough to make the vaccine ineffective within a few weeks. Early after the booster, it is just effective enough to prevent you from even getting a subclinical infection which would cause you to produce other antibodies. So when the booster wears off, you are more vulnerable, and more likely to get a symptomatic, clinical infection.

Miss Linda told me about a news item she read about a wedding at a local zoo. I have a niece who is getting married in autumn next year who has decided the event will be held in the next town over but one from East Bumfook in Lower Michigan. Unless she and her intended are paying for the whole thing, I cannot fathom why her father, my sibling, agreed to the location. The place is damn near impossible to get to if you live outside the area, as well as expensive to do so. Family or not, right now our household is strongly leaning toward "have fun without us". Posted by: Bitter Clinger ******* If you are referring to cross-immunity, that is a thing. Infection with "virus A" stimulates immune system to produce antibodies and memory B-cell lymphocytes. Months or years later, exposure to "virus B" which shares some antigens (proteins or amino acid sequences) with "virus A", prompts memory B-cells to say, "Hey, that guy looks familiar, let's kick his ass!" and the immune system uses the "A" template to produce antibodies that hamper "B". At the same time, unique antibodies and B-cells are added to the immune system's library, providing a broader pattern of protection. But that may not be what you were referencing. Posted by: Huck Follywood I watched a four episode documentary entitled Bad Vegan about a couple who cheated their employees at a high end raw vegan restaurant out of millions of dollars. It's hard to say what actually happened here but the husband was a fabulist who implied to his wife that he was more than human and would make her dog, whom she loved, immortal if she did everything he said without question (including stealing those millions of dollars). Anyway, he spoke of their "meat suits" by which I think he meant their bodies which temporarily housed their immortal (immoral) spirits. P.S. Raw vegan restaurant? First the very idea - let me inject you with a weakened/dead version of the disease - was terrifying. And...there were mistakes made. I think she's correct. I feel like a lot of this could be corrected if we just put an end to the political rhetoric. They should get representatives from all over the country to sit down and write out a list of rights that people have, define the powers that government has, and then subdivide the country into geographic regions where the things that neither the overall bigger government or the individual person controls and let them be decided at a local level so that people could pick and choose in which reason they want to live. the covid injections are *not* vaccines, despite what the CDC website now says. (After Alex Berenson famously tweeted that these mRna shots are not vaccines, the CDC changed the definition it had used since the agency's inception) the mRna shots are a novelty and untested in the traditional, vaccinological best practices sense. Their action is dramatically different than traditional vaccines that have been developed since the first one centuries ago. Posted by: kallisto at July 23, 2022 11:01 AM (dCxaZ) 216

One difference of note between the mRNA type vaccines and traditional injections of killed or attenuated virus, is the dose.
Standard vaccines inject a known, fixed quantity of the whole (killed or attenuated) or partial virus. mRNA vaccines inject the blueprint for the desired antigen (in Pfizer's COVID vaccine that's the spiike protein). The amount of antigen then produced is dependent on the individual's cellular machinery and the rate of degradation, both of which can vary based on any number of factors. Thus, a potentially wide range of actual dose or amount of antigen produced exists, and it is harder to standardize. Posted by: Muldoon at July 23, 2022 11:18 AM (kXYt5) 239

And just what exactly would you call King Kong?
Posted by: Muldoon at July 23, 2022 10:24 AM (kXYt5) Peter Jackson, fresh off of his successes, asked the question, "how can I make a running firefight against prehistoric beasts and giant insects across a jungle wrapped island, followed by a giant ape fighting biplanes in NYC boring" King Kong is that answer Posted by: Kindltot at July 23, 2022 11:23 AM (xhaym) 248

Does anyone here know if vaccines leave a person with negative protection after a period of time like Covid shots do? For instance, am I more likely to contract smallpox now since I had the vaccine more than six months ago than if I'd never been vaccinated for smallpox?
Posted by: Emmie at July 23, 2022 10:54 AM (6RgRK) On the standard vaxxes, I do not believe so, there were a couple of trials for Dengue actually did something similar, however Dengue is nasty because the first infection is generally like a mild flu, but it primes your immune system to go insane at the second infection and can kill you. The Dengue vaccine trial actually made subsequent infections worse and had side effects also. I don't know if it was an mRNA vaccine. The trial was in the Philippines and there is a claim it killed a lot of kids Posted by: Kindltot at July 23, 2022 11:39 AM (xhaym) 250

Bret Weinstein and his wife host the Dark Horse podcast.
