Democrat Representative Paid a Texas Blogger To Launch Attacks on Mayra Flores; He Began Tagging Her With the Anti-Mexican Insult "Miss Frijoles"

A Texas blogger paid by Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez's campaign is attacking Republican opponent Rep. Mayra Flores as "Miss Frijoles" and a "cotton-pickin' liar," prompting a wave of denunciations by fellow Democrats. The language first surfaced three days after Gonzalez's campaign wrote a $1,200 check to The McHale Report blog June 24 for "advertising services," according to the Democrat's Federal Election Commission finance report. But the blog, which has called Flores "Miss Frijoles" 21 times since then, has not published any Gonzalez ads.

"Of course, the congressman is against referring to Rep. Flores as 'Miss Frijoles' or a 'cotton-picking liar'," Gonzalez's campaign manager, Collin Steele, wrote in a text message to NBC News, echoing the state Democratic Party chair and other Texas Democrats who denounced the language as well. But McHale would not back down. "I am a liberal Democrat. And it's war against the Republican ... I'm going to be merciless with her," he told NBC News.If you go to political "war" with someone, then all tactics, including a bit of racial taunting, are fair game? And in fact Democrat Congressmen are allowed to even do business with you while you're engaged in this racial "war"? Another Democrat consultant seemed to defend McHale's "war" footing:
"Politics in South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley is blood sport. It's very personal. And they play to win," said Colin Strother, a veteran Texas Democratic consultant. Still, he said, the language in McHale's blog and Gonzalez's decision to advertise with him were surprising -- Gonzalez last year paid McHale $1,000 for advertising, and the blog is full of posts with racist, crude and bigoted language, like the use of the N-word and derogatory references to women's private parts, including Flores' body.They attack Republicans as "racist" all day long but the minute a member of one of the races they "own" decides they're free of Democrat ownership, the racial slurs come out. And notice that advertising with a blog that uses the n-word and makes derogatory references to a woman's most intimate of snizzes is considered an unusual, but still acceptable, move for a Democrat politician. Corporations won't even advertise on this blog, and we don't do any of those things. But Democrat politicians feel comfortable advertising on Democrat blogs that traffic in that crap. Must be nice. Must. Be. Nice. Dave Reaboi and I have often discussed the problem of people on the right accepting, adopting, reinforcing and strengthening the mores and codes of the left by endlessly repeating them. Sometimes we do so in the form of saying "What if a Republican said this..." Sometimes we just adopt their language and follow their code. We become enforcers on their code, "telling on" members of the left for not following their own code, thinking that this will change the behavior of the left at all. It doesn't. All it does is create buy-in on the right into enforcement of the code. Sometimes it's useful to point out their hypocrisy. Often, however, what we end up doing is simply making the leftwing matrix of taboos and outlawed speech the generally-accepted code of conduct, because we ourselves have de facto blessed it through endless repetition. One of the ways the left has hacked the brain of the collective right is that they realized we are naturally rules-based and they figured out that if they give us a series of rules to enforce, we will enforce them. Even if they're hateful, bizarre, alien rules the left made up to harm us. Dave calls "bullsh*t" on this NRCC communication director's attack on the Democrats for hiring this racist blogger, for the reasons outlined above:

Technically Mexicans are a nationality composed of different ethnic groups and in turn primarily of two races. But racism is generally used to refer to slurs pertaining origin (under the theory that this is unjust prejudice as they have no control over that). There are no reasons. No is enough.
This was argued over with the conscientious objection standard for military service. It is not up to the state to define how your religious beliefs work, so any religious exemption is an open exemption to any matter of conscience. The powers that be have not realized this regarding the vax yet, but this is old knowledge.
(There is some latitude, which was worked out over Indian use of peyote and other issues where the exemptions had to be established as part of the religion and not just a way to get around the law. But for "I don't want to put shit in my body," or "I don't want to kill people," I don't see how those exemptions can be applied.)

Strictly speaking the usage is also racist. In some contexts we're perfectly comfortable with it. But not many Republicans would be comfortable with a politician being sincerely deprecatory towards Irish-Americans for instance. There might be more comfort if such insults were clearly directed towards the Irish of Ireland.

That's not what makes BLM racist. Their hatred of other races is what makes them racist. The slogan implicitly suggests the lives of people of other races do not matter. Which is why "All lives matter" is found objectionable. There are ethnic level associations for white people in the US. There isn't a pan-white group because there has not historically been a unified white identity.

And before the boating accident I had a crate of Black talons in .45, 9mm and 10mm - I'm not seeing the Kevlar busting ability.
Both of those bullets are hollow points and expand on impact. The Black Talons were much better at fragmenting when expanding. I'm 100% sure they the Black Talons were for LEO Only because of an exceptional advertisement campaign.

Ethnic groups are generally fairly closely linked people with a common language and culture in a limited geographical area. Like the Basque. Hispanic doesn't really have that, at most it has something approaching common origin for a language, but you might as well include the Italians and French at that rate.

Aetius, I've actually got a bunch of those Glaser safety rounds somewhere in my enormous ammo stash, there's no fluid, as I recall just a sort of frangible bullet, so there's fragmentation and some energy transfer but not much penetration. I really should dig some out to take to the range for fun, see how they perform. As I recall the 9mikemike's won't cycle a semi-auto, so the pistol becomes a one-shot affair, requiring manual cycling each round.

I did some extensive (about 2 minutes) worth of research, and found out that the majority of Mexicans, as we would expect, are mestizos, about a fifth are Ameri-Indian, and less than 10% are European. The Mexican government stopped tracking for racial make-up a long time ago, so I guess the data are from academic studies.
Interestingly, I saw a couple of surveys/polls in which a slight majority of Mexican-Americans self-identified as "white".
