The power of patriarchy is so strong men will literally go through life not knowing how to feed themselves and being filthy for fear of not being seen as manly. Then hate women for not going out with them when they are basically a 6ft 6 year old who can't feed or clean themselves
And as if that wasn't enough- the gender roles and norms many of us a have taken on to be a cis male or female reinforces these norms and makes us accept them passively as just the way things are so guys rarely call each other out and then expect women to do everything.
No not all men are like this but far to many are. It's on guys to call each other in an fix this ourselves and not put this burden on the women in our lives who already have to do so much and go through so much as is.
And like with everything there's nuance to everything and many things that enable this. But even if a women can't cook or clean it rarely falls on the men as much as it does to pick up the slack.
We need to do a better job as a society raising men and not 6 foot emotionally stunted, filthy babies who are not functional adults. Who's own self hatred and insecurity are reinforced by patriarchal norms they practice prevent them from being an actual adult.

He's like a limpdick genderfluid Jordan Peterson, except instead of saying "Clean your room" in a cool way he's hissing that we need to learn to cook so that women can have more time off to watch Netflix.

The number of insecure men this tweet triggered is nuts. Not knowing how cook or clean because it's not "manly" is crazy. Not knowing how to do those things isn't manly it's just sad, gross, unattractive and also unfair to those (typically women) around you.

I'm not perfect but growing up having parents who both cooked (even though my mom did way more being home more) seeing my dad cook and bake plus my mom encouraging me to cook with her had a major positive impact on my life that far to few guys have the privilege of.

Let me be clear men aren't actually starving because they can't feed themselves because they can't cook. Many have a woman (most the time) who will cook for them or they go out or microwave stuff.

1. Making your own pasta is nice but... um, if you're a beginning cook, this is just kind of a play exercise. Dry pasta is readily available and you've got a lot more to learn before going gourmet and making your own fresh pasta, don't you?

2. The thing he's doing of piling up the flour, making a little "bowl" in it, and then pouring the wet ingredients into it is a "lifehack" that's currently popular on TikTok so I would guess that this skill he is imploring all men to learn was just learned by he himself six weeks ago.

He also vows that he won't be impregnating any women.

The last thing that I sewed was when I made some MOLLE pistol magazine pouches for myself. Wanted some without the flap going over the top (which was pretty much all that was available at the time at a decent price), so they had elastic cord wrapped around the body so that you could vary the pressure on the mag to keep it in place.

187 Oh and generally making your own pasta makes sense for one of only a couple reasons,

1. You wanna add some special ingredient to the pasta (like say saffron) that you just can't get in the store stuff.
2. You wanna make something like ravioli (or some other form of stuffed pasta) and want to use your own filling so you really need fresh fresh pasta, otherwise making your own pasta is another waste of what should be your valuable time.

Oh and actually making pasta dough......that's like really easy, like a 3 on a scale of 1-10. Actually rolling it/stretching it into whatever shape you want.... there's the challenge that requires skill.

Potato Exercise:

That said 99% of what the patriarchy is concerned with is making boys into responsible fathers. Our encouragement ow women's sexual selection and discretion is part of that goal, not some attempt or even real interest in controlling women. It's just when and with whom a young woman chooses to have sex is a much bigger motivator for a man to conform to than any number of lofty ideals I can impart over a lifetime. I was at my dad's place yesterday morning, mixing concrete by hand in a wheelbarrow to repair his driveway (he had the water supply pipe replaced, and I did the concrete rather than paying someone else big $ for it). I also used to make my own bread all the time, all by hand. I'll take the breadmaking any day of the week. It doesn't leave me sore for the next 5 days.

I'd love to watch Hogg try to lift 60 lb bags of concrete off of the ground without whining. Better yet, let him whine, just so long as I have some popcorn for the show.

I went on Google, finally found it, and replaced it for the cost of the handle from Amazon (it was a set of 2 that cost about $8.

No, that doesn't make me a plumber, but you just know that Hogg would have paid it.

I put our mailbox post in. Dug it with the hand post hole digger. And then cheated. I used that new compound mix. The kind that works like the two-part resin. Small bag weighs less than a pound. Cost double what concrete does, but requires no water. Mix it together, pour in the hole, and it expands and solidifies in 3 to 5 minutes. You could work the post in 3 to 5 minutes, not 24 hours.

512 I was one of the first people on my block to get an electric mower. Several neighbors would ask if I like it, how it mows etc. i was like yeah it mows fine just like the one before. Much lighter much quieter, 45 mins on a charge which is enough for the size of my grass. And no gas cans to deal with.

540 I put our mailbox post in. Dug it with the hand post hole digger. And then cheated. I used that new compound mix. The kind that works like the two-part resin. Small bag weighs less than a pound. Cost double what concrete does, but requires no water. Mix it together, pour in the hole, and it expands and solidifies in 3 to 5 minutes. You could work the post in 3 to 5 minutes, not 24 hours.

I know I'm late to the party, but damn, the stupid, it burns!

My mom taught me how to take care of myself from a young age. How to cook, clean, do laundry. I also took home ec in high school to refine some skills. And yes, I know how to use YouTube to find videos to help me learn how to do other tasks around the home as needed.

I've been fully independent for over half my life. I live quite comfortably. Is my home perfectly neat and tidy? No, of course not (three cats), but it's hardly the worst home out there...

Both my grandfathers had been farmers once. One became a lumberjack and then a coal dealer (learned cooking as a "Bull Cook"). The other ended up the steam plant foreman at a big refinery, and hunted deer, elk, bear. Smoked fish -- hard to light. Anybody around our neighborhood suggesting that real men don't cook would have landed on his ass.

Hogg's at an early stage of life. In college, I knew guys who could not cook, yet. They learned later.
