21 Was watching the "Big Bay" fireworks from home for some reason that year. Well, sorta watching - you can see the higher ones from my back porch (and the whole Sea World show, which is in plain view, if miles away).

At show time, I noticed 5 bright flashes in the usual places (they launch from barges that are moored from near the Coronado bridge out to near Shelter Island). Then - nothing. Turned on the radio, in a few minutes the on-air folks got the word that a malfunction had fired everything at once.

Think the contractor promised the city a future show for free, don't know if that ever happened.

47 Good workout at the nearly-empty gym, burned a great cigar on the porch talking to my friend in TX, dinner will be steaks, corn on the cob, and shishito peppers on the grill, with red wine.

In the early years of the show, it was easy to zip down to NTC (now called Liberty Station in its decommissioned/repurposed status), park old school SoCal style (you pull up, turn off your engine - looking for parking wasn't an issue), set a lawn chair on one of the enormous lawns that are now part of a city park, and watch. Still fairly easy to get there/set up, but egress and return trip now victims to crowding, traffic, traffic management. So, hoping she doesn't want to go this year.

If the marine layer holds off, the Sea World show is nice, and clearly visible. Also the local show just east of us is back on, can see the high stuff from the front of the house.

95 Diogenes 10 years ago the bay show had many very easy viewing options involving free parking, easy set up, little to no traffic after. 10 years ago. Now, as I noted above, not so easy.

Actually one year a college friend was in town with his wife-like-person, think she brought big $$ to the situation, they bought tickets on a harbor cruise boat that viewed it all from out on the water. That was truly wonderful. And since few watch from the downtown waterfront, no traffic either. I'd never have thought to do or pay for that, but glad it happened.

The babies are fat little porkers. Getting personalities already as well. Mama is doing well as well.

Until they get their eyes open in another week or so, they're watched 24 hours a day. I take a shift between about 9 PM to 1 AM, then Her Majesty takes over until about 5 or so. Lots of food and treats for Delilah.

My best quote from DS came from the Brit 1st Armored Div FSO. The plan was to leave the 8 inch artillery at home because it would simplify resupply. One less caliber to worry about. But the Arkansas/Tennessee NG got there to support the 18th ABN Corps and they didn't want the heavy arty. So they got chopped to us.
We put them in DS to the Brits.
The FSO told me later "Diogenes. We'd fire our artillery and it was great. But the 8 inch would fire and the whole earth was disrupted!"

Nah. Beyond a certain grade, parking is always perpendicular. First, you can fit a lot more cars in. Second, it is much more difficult to parallel park, facing up or down, beyond a certain grade. Of course, you have to open the car door against the usual flow of gravity, but that's much easier to deal with.

Did you notice Jeff Bezos' complaint about Biden's criticism of oil pricing yesterday? Not much attention here, but I thought it was huge, and this is why - it was very direct, and it was a huge red flag stating openly that the biggest Oligarchs are getting sick of Biden and deciding that he's got to go. I honestly believe they, and the pieces of the Democrat party left in office, are going to force Biden to resign for "health reasons" not long after the November elections. Cheating is only plausible when the circumstances allow. Trump was vilified for 4 years and so were all his supporters. His record of frankly unmatched accomplishments in one term were drowned out by fake scandals and of course the China virus.

Trump has been stumping for candidates for Congress, governors offices and state elected offices for the last year. And doing pretty damn well.

It doesn't get covered much, even here, but he is something like 100 - 5. They are all America First types to varying degrees even if they aren't all perfect. He is working harder than any politician in my lifetime to turn this thing around and it's fucking pitiful that he doesn't get more credit and support from our side.

There are a lot more than just Trump, DeSantis, Tucker and few in Congress. If things go well this Fall there will be a shitload more in Congress and hopefully even more influenced to follow.
