Disney's Stock Price Has Lost 50% of Its Value After Year of Leftwing Political Electioneering and Badly-Received Woke Programming

According to Bounding Into Comics, the new Ms. Marvel show on Disney+ has been released with the lowest viewership numbers the streaming service has seen yet. A total of 775,000 households tuned in to watch the new Marvel outing in its first five days, but that's dangerously low compared to other shows such as Moon Knight (1.8 million), Hawkeye (1.5 million), Loki (2.5 million), and WandaVision (1.6 million).
This isn't to mention the flops that were the live-action "Mulan" and "Eternals" movies, the former of which was greeted with mass controversy since it literally thanks the organization tied to a concentration camp for Uyghur Muslims. Fan reactions to Kenobi have been mixed, but many (including yours truly) consider it to be a massive insult to the fans.
This isn't even mentioning that Disney/Star Wars led a campaign to call its own fans racist before the release of Kenobi.
Disney has done what it could to drive away its audience in order to embrace a political message that the majority of America isn't buying.

Disney just released Buzz Lightyear, a Pixar animated movie about the character from the Toy Story franchise (or... is it?), aimed at young children.

Obviously, if you're making that kind of movie, there's only one thing that's missing: a gay kiss.

The movie has been banned in fourteen countries, because Disney insisted on sticking a lesbian kiss into a movie aimed a very young children.

Disney has long been inserting gay shit into stuff aimed at children. And then they cut it out of foreign releases, for countries that don't like gay shit the way Disney's gay activist employees like gay shit.

The trouble this time is that Disney's gay activist employees insisted that there could be no cutting -- this time, the gratuitous gay kiss must go global.

It is pride month, after all.

The new Pixar animated film Lightyear has become the latest battleground for LGBTQ+ rights. The movie -- which is a prequel to the highly successful Toy Story saga -- has been banned from 14 countries for including a same-sex kiss. This means that countries in the Middle East such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, as well as a handful of Asian nations, will not be screening one of the most anticipated movies of the summer.
The movie features a character called Alisha Hawthorne, who is in a relationship with a woman. In the scene in question, Hawthorne briefly kisses her partner. In 2006, executives at Disney, the parent company of Pixar, asked for this same scene to be cut from the movie. When this decision was revealed in March, it sparked fierce backlash. Hundreds of Disney workers signed a letter calling on the entertainment giant to take a tougher stand in defending LGBTQ+ rights. The workers not only criticized the censorship of the scene, they also demanded that Disney publicly denounce the so-called "Don't Say Gay" law in Florida. This measure, which was proposed by Republicans in the state, prohibits class discussion about sexual orientation and gender identity until students are at least nine years old.
"We at Pixar have personally witnessed beautiful stories, full of diverse characters, come back from Disney corporate reviews shaved down to crumbs of what they once were," the letter sent to Disney CEO Bob Chapek stated. In response, Chapek promised to take a more active role in defending LGBTQ+ rights, and as a sign of this, he ordered the same-sex scene in Lightyear to be put back in the film.

And how did this latest #Woke bomb do at the box office?

Well, it bombed. Buzz Lightyear was projected to sell between $70 and $85 million in tickets.

Instead, it sold a paltry $50.6 million in ticket.

And it performed much more poorly than Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

The Hollywood Reporter blames this partly on "rightwing politicians."

In early January of this year, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 set off a loud boom at the domestic box office when opening to $72.1 million in theaters. Paramount insiders estimated that nearly 60 percent of the audience on opening weekend were kids and parents, proving that families were indeed willing to set aside concerns about the ongoing pandemic and return to theaters. Hollywood and theater owners breathed a huge sigh of relief.
But when Pixar and Disney's Toy Story spinoff Lightyear debuted in cinemas over Father's Day weekend, only about 38 percent of those turning out were families, helping to explain why the movie launched to $50.6 million, instead of an expected $70 million to $85 million....

By Sunday night of the June 17-19 weekend, everyone in Hollywood was asking the same question, since the opening couldn't be pinned only on the pandemic: What happened?

Disney insiders privately point to mixed reviews from critics -- at least for a Pixar offering -- less-than-rave audience scores, as well as marketing and brand confusion.
Pixar movies have always been known for attracting both younger and older adults who don't have kids, but the family turnout for Lightyear was notably light.

Following the movie's opening over Father's Day weekend, U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (Ohio), who is the minority ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee and has 2.8 million followers, tweeted on June 21, "Buzz Lightyear went woke. Disney went broke."

How did Jordan's tweet, coming after the weekend box office had been tallied, affect the weekend box office, Hollywood Reporter?

Does he have a time machine like I don't?

And a verified Twitter account for the GOP Judiciary Committee boasting more than 223,000 followers followed by tweeting, "make Toy Story great again."

There's no hard-and-fast evidence proving that the political conversation hurt Lightyear, although the film did underindex by a fairly large margin in the midwest, according to a source with access to Comscore regional data.

Maybe parents just don't want to take kids to see movies that expose them to alternative sexualities before they're even old enough to understand the basic one.

And maybe kids just don't want to go to a theater to see gay propaganda.

They get enough of that at school, don't they?

Well, I'm watching with him and it's pretty uninspired stuff. As a comet is hurtling toward earth, some of the aliens are working on a laser to split the comet. It cuts to a crowd shot of fearful people, and two women suddenly grab hands, look at each other, and kiss goodbye.

Fucking hell. I didn't notice any other gay shit and I didn't see it coming soon enough to warn my kid.

59 It makes me sad this has happened to Disney, TBH. They were a huge part of my life, both personal and professional for many years. I even got to know and work with Marc Davis, one of Disney's Nine Old Men. But that company no longer exists. Their "imagineers" no longer do it for the joy of creating and entertaining. I have a huge Disneyana collection, much of it vintage.

TBH, Disney was always just a bit woke. They always tried to introduce Americans to new cultures - but at least their heart was in the right place most of the time.

I had said probably 25+ years ago if I ever got a tattoo, it would be of Donald Duck. Even when I could see the woke coming, I always figured they'd leave their heritage characters alone - simply because they had been bogged down by creation by committee, not single group or people allowed to work on that IP. Now? I have little doubt they'll make Minnie a lesbian, and Goofy transsexual. And soon, because the entire company will be on board.

In theaters? Nobody goes to the theater anymore. They used to put their movies "in the vault" and not sell them for a while, then release them for sale for a limited time. If they tried that on their streaming service, I think it would hurt their subscription numbers.

I know this is a talking point, and maybe at Pixar it did play into it some. But apparently Allen is doing a Santa Clause series for Disney Plus, so he isn't really cancelled. But even if its a simple case that they wanted a younger actor to be the voice for the "real" Buzz Lightyear instead of the "toy" Buzz Lightyear, to everyone else Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear and they want to hear his voice as the character. You know, sort of like how people really wanted to hear the voice of Peter Cullen coming out of Optimus Prime. Even though the movie came out 20 years after the cartoon.

The thing is, they made it pretty clear in TS1 that there was no backstory to Buzz, no more than Woody. I suppose it's just vague enough they could say that though. But the reasoning as to why Tim couldn't voice Buzz makes even less sense when you think about it. Regardless, the homo kiss aside, this was done to drag Buzz down. He's overshadowed by the powerful womyn. Why would they even make a toy of him, instead of Izzy? Oh that's right, the patriarchy. I'm sure we'll have another movie about that, or at least a short.

I remember it must have been over 15 years ago I was seeing ads for some Disney afternoon TV show (so what, the 7 -14 demographic?) and there was teen sex, gay teens and gay parents. It wasn't in your face, but if you were paying attention it was obvious. Of course, they feel their audience is so stupid they need to be pounded over the head - that or they're desperate knowing they're running out of time.

I'm afraid to even watch streaming TV right now, as the gay ads are choking me to death. If it's not a biracial couple, then the white guy is gay. Every. Time. I can't even imagine coping with cable TV. At least I get a countdown and can wander off or rewind after I come back - but some channels punish you by replaying the ads.

He's got a Santa Clause spinoff series coming out on Disney Plus. Its why I don't put a lot of weight in the "He wasn't the voice because he's conservative." But the reason why he isn't the voice is less important to a lot of people than he just isn't the voice. I mentioned Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime. And just go look at the outrage people had about the planned new season of Futurama but they hadn't signed the voice actore for Bender. The voices of characters in animation matter and the average normie isn't going to care that this is the "real" Buzz rather than the "toy" Buzz so the voice isn't the same.

They actually invented the multi planar animation stand. I'm a huge traditional animation fanatic, and have many original pencil drawings as well as production cells. Back in the day, the department that colored (added the paint to the outlined characters - backwards) were all women. And, they liked it that way!

Bugs Life is good - it only gets the short shrift because it was bookended by 2 all-time classics. And, the story isn't quite as strong.

I remember when this was in development - I had friends working at ILM and PDI was quite literally across the street - they were working on Antz. There was a lot of bad blood as to who had the idea first, and honestly I think it was a coincidence. Bugs were as easy as toys to animate back then. And Antz is awful (sorry Mic!). I think they had to rush it to beat Pixar to the theaters, and were literally writing on the fly. Rumor was Walken was so good at ad libbing they just threw a bunch of time at him.

"The Message" has become more important than the story to Hollywood. And that is what must be pushed, and you can't have a story get in the way. It used to be the opposite. There's plenty of good movies and tv out there that we can recognize as trying to also push some agenda as well but still had a good story. Now you cannot allow the story to ask questions because people might come to the "wrong" conclusion.

I mean look at Wall-E. You can look at it as pushing some leftie green agenda. But I think you can also look at it as telling a story where you need to take personal responsibility, and actually fixing the problems you cause and not just leaving them for someone else.
