The Morning Report - 6/14/22

fossilfool.jpg

Good morning, kids. Well, day 2 of the kangaroo court J-6 show trial is in the books and, although I don't have the ratings, my guess is that it was an even bigger "stealth-turd" than the opener. Stealth-turd is an expression I learned from my show business days, meaning in and out of the theaters so fast it didn't have time to stink. What does reek is the economy that is now officially in bear market territory after yesterday's tanking of the S&P 500 and near 900-point collapse of the DJIA, as gasoline climbs above the $5.00 a gallon national average with inflation also headed for the stratosphere.

As for Biden, he's so out of it he doesn't know whether to shit or wind his watch so he shits on his watch. Somehow, with the aid of a cocktail of cholinesterase inhibitors and antidepressants washed down with two scoops of Ben & Jerry's Rachel Corrie Crunch, he's still able to more or less spew the script from Kalorama. All of it is intentional.

If you think gas prices are high now, just wait. They’re going much higher, thanks to [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden’s “irreversible” plan to eliminate fossil fuels. Truth is, your pain at the pump is being planned and executed by the White House.

Over the weekend, buyers paid $5 a gallon or roughly $100 bucks to fill the tank.

Gas prices have doubled since Biden took office. J.P. Morgan analysts predict $6 a gallon by August. And experts warn this crisis will continue even after Biden’s term ends because he’s dismantling fossil-fuel production.

When Biden was running for president, he promised to shut down oil producers: “No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period.” He pledged to put the country on “an irreversible” path toward “doing away with” fossil fuels. . .

. . .In a congressional hearing the same week, Biden’s interior secretary, Deb Haaland, repeatedly declined to agree that gas prices are too high. Climate zealots in the Biden administration want high prices to deter the public from buying gas.

Biden’s media toadies are singing the same song. High gas prices will force us to make “good choices,” claims Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson. “The right long-term solution, for the sake of the planet, is not increasing the supply of fossil fuels.” It’s to compel consumers to switch to electric vehicles.

It’s one thing to choose electric vehicles. Soviet-style compulsion is another matter. EVs are about one-third more expensive than gas-powered cars. That doesn’t matter to out-of-touch Democrat Debbie Stabenow. The Michigan senator brags about driving past gas stations in her EV, not caring how high prices are. But what’s the average family supposed to do, take out a mortgage to afford an electric vehicle?

. . . Who’s to blame for inadequate supply? Worldwide, there are many factors, but here in the United States, blame drivers with Biden bumper stickers. They heard candidate Biden announce his “irreversible” plan, and they voted for him anyway.

They are literally hell bent on destroying the fossil fuel industry and replacing it with technology that is wildly expensive, unreliable, inefficient and lacking in the infrastructure to support it; in short, something that for all intents and purposes does not exist. Forcing us all to drive a Prius, or really to drive nothing at all, is one thing. But what about 18-wheelers? Heavy construction equipment and machinery? Locomotives?

Why, it's almost as if they didn't think that through. Or did they? The world not only runs on carbon but our way of life and really life itself depends on that element and the chemistry around it. "Organic" chemistry for you Lefties out there.

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, as the J-6 follies crash and burn, today marks five years since, to paraphrase Ilhan "Bro-Fo" Omar/Nur/Burqawitz/Ikeeelyou, "somebody did something."

Today is 6/14, a day that should live in infamy. This is the day that American democracy took a barbaric hit, when – five years ago on June 14, 2017 – the Democrat Party’s dangerous, violent rhetoric incited one of its members to attempt, and almost succeed in carrying out, the largest-scale political assassination in our nation’s history. On June 14, 2017, a Democrat tried to murder dozens of Republican Congressmen as they innocently gathered to play baseball at a field just outside the nation’s capital. The Democrat insurrectionist succeeded in seriously injuring Rep. Steve Scalise and three others, including two police officers, before brave law enforcement officials stopped him and saved the rule of law. This June 14 commemorates the five-year anniversary of the “Congressional Baseball Massacre” -- an actual domestic terror attack carried out by a Democrat. . .

. . . Inspired by Sen. Bernie Sanders’ false claim that “36,000 people will die yearly” if the Republican Congress succeeded in repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, one of Sanders’ supporters, a home inspector with no history of mental illness, set out with the express intent to “terminate the Republican Party.” The 6/14 insurrectionist campaigned for Sanders and was a supporter of Barack Obama. The Congressional Baseball Massacre came in the wake of a deluge of calls for violence against Republicans by Democrat politicians and their supporters in the media and in Hollywood. To name a few examples: just two weeks earlier, in May of 2017, Democrat comedian and far-left CNN contributor Kathy Griffin posed in a Mexican cartel-style photo featuring a mock severed and blood-soaked head of the recently-elected Republican president; also in May of 2017, Democrat rapper Snoop Dogg posted a video depicting him murdering the Republican president; at a Democrat rally in January of 2017, pop star Madonna had mused about blowing up the Republican-occupied White House.

The horrific attack had no effect on the stream of hateful Democrat rhetoric. Just days after the attack, Sanders posted a tweet reasserting his earlier claim that Republican policies were murdering people, stating: “Let us be clear and this is not trying to be overly dramatic: Thousands of people will die if the Republican health care bill becomes law” . . .

. . . On this fifth anniversary of 6/14, the Congressional Baseball Massacre, we must remember – to quote [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Biden – “in life there’s truth and, tragically, there are lies – lies conceived for profit and power. We must be absolutely clear about what is true and what is a lie.”

To this day there has been no investigation into James Hodgkinson and crucially his direct and close links to both Dick Durbin and Bernie Sanders.

Meanwhile, a would-be assassin hell-bent on taking out Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh luckily turns himself in, scores of innocent American citizens are held virtually incommunicado in deplorable conditions, pun absolutely intended, as political prisoners for a "riot" that was staged by the FBI, and now this despicable farce of a show trial continues with no other purpose than to punish all political opposition and derail not only a potential Trump candidacy in '24 but anyone who was within 100 miles of the Capitol on that horrible day, the day what was left of America as founded died. Now we have this supposed thwarted plot at some Idaho homosexual gathering that does not pass the smell test.

For sure, all of this is intentional, but have they really thought through the consequences? Destroying fossil fuels is not going to lead to green paradise and prosperity, just as destroying the rule of a just and stable law is not going to "protect our precious democracy" (*vomits*). Quite the opposite.

27 You know... I've been thinking (dangerous, I know), and while Biden is running things as the SCOAMT's "3rd Term" I realized that I had great antipathy - even hatred - toward TFG. He was beyond smarmy and made Used Car Salesmen look honest and upright, all while gaslighting the country and attempting (mostly succeeding) to destroy the very foundations that made America the greatest, most free nation on the face of the earth.

Biden, though? I just despise him. In the classic sense. He's beneath me. It's like watching one of those football videos where they let the kid with cerebral palsy "run for a touchdown." Everyone knows it's fake (except maybe the kid with palsy - but probably even him), and it's done to make people feel good about themselves. "Look at what *we* did. *We* fulfilled this kid's wish!"

Of course, the difference is that a single High School football game (if that "play" even counts - which it never does) does not decide the fate of hundreds of millions of people. The dementia patient in office does.

And likely never will be. At least, no time in the immediate future.

Most of the EV companies are complete scams. The few that aren't are either misguided, naive fools, or people who knew they were marketing to the First World Problems set (see: Musk, Elon) and didn't even try to "replace the internal combustion engine." They just made high-tech cars that rich people can brag about.

That doesn't even get into the fact that *we will be making gasoline and diesel anyway.* They are byproducts of the refinement process that gets us all that other stuff we need like medical supplies and computers and water bottles.

How is it that one individual in office has the power to demonize an industry and destroy it in order to crash an entire country into abject poverty and lawlessness, but the same office can't direct a tiny fraction of money to perform a Constitutional duty (e.g. enforce a border)

https://is.gd/1WD3tG

On the one hand, Biden and Schumer didn't get the assault weapons ban, "universal background checks," or raising the purchase age to 21 they wanted.

But they did get "expanded mental health services," which probably means more "gender affirming" psychist whackos in schools, and they get some kind of red flag law which, as we have seen in California and New York, can be expanded to take more guns from more people.

They're still hot and bothered for EV's, solar and wind but this provides a huge grifting opportunity for the foreseeable future. And puts gas in their limos, jets, boats, etc. Plus, they get to ration it to their favorite supporters.

73 They keep talking about $5 gas. What about $7 Diesel? Who do they think is going to pay for that? Do they even understand how many and what kinds of vehicles run on Diesel/ kerosene?

You see it some places. I suspect it's "below the fold" type of news because - while everyone relies on diesel whether they know it or not - most people don't think about it very much.

But, yes, diesel sucks - and that's going to lead to even more shortages around the nation.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out the Junta is doing all of it on purpose, too. Run the entire economy into the ground, cause massive shortages, and get Joe On The Street to start screaming that "someone should DO SOMETHING!"

Then come in with your "Socialist Utopia" where everyone can get exactly what they need and not a bit more (because that would be greedy). All you have to do is sign your entire life over to the State.

The same trip in an electric car would require at least two additional hours of charging time. I can fuel up and be on the road again in 10 minutes. In an electric, I'm stuck at even a "fast charge" for at least half an hour... and that's if there's no line.

EVs are in a weird place. For some people they are perfectly viable. If they weren't so darned expensive, one would be perfect for my brother (very much an urban dweller and happy to be). On the other hand, they'll never do me a lick of good.

And if people would realize that, acknowledge it, and act accordingly, we would be fine. But the government won't and most LIV's don't think about it enough. So now we've got the most energy-hostile President possible in office, and a good third of the country is looking at "rolling black outs" right as the height of summer hits. _________

The government hasn't entirely stopped fossil fuel production. They've curtailed it and made it expensive to engage in. The infrastructure is there, it hasn't been dismantled. It won't be. There's plenty of incentive to nationalize this industry in order to control who gets to use fossil fuels, how much, and when. From a political perspective there's trillions of dollars to be made off it.

It does nothing to alleviate the crisis, but the current government doesn't want it alleviated. Neither will the next government, or the one after that.

157 And of course they're using the price spikes due to their war on the domestic fossil fuel industry as justification for more "green energy" because "you see how unreliable fossil fuels are" etc.
And let me repeat myself on a thing that I just don't see getting enough traction. It's not the price/unreliability of EVs that galls me, its the centralized control of power distribution, combined with the inherent potential for electronic "handshakes" between car and charging station. I can easily foresee a time when all the new government "charging stations" are "smart chargers" that will recognize your individual car. The pretext will be some bullshit about "tailoring the charge" to your vehicle and providing you "helpful information" about your charging to extend the life of your battery.

But in the end its a huge lever of control for the ever-growing Social Credit system and total government control of supply/freedom of movement. Why have "even odd" license plate days when the charging station will just recognize if your car is "eligible" for a charge that day. Owe a parking ticket, taxes? No charge for you. Forget the "No Fly" list. How about a "No charge" list?

Isn't this pretty much the reason we're in this mess?

Americans have lost the ability to think critically. They be believe anything a person in power tells them. When that person is no longer in power they will believe whatever the next powerful person tells them, even if it's directly opposed to their previous position.

We're unwilling to educate ourselves about things so that we can make logical choices. It's easier to simply fall in line.

RIP, America.

228 They've stopped calling red flag laws "red flag laws." They're calling them, I think, "crisis intervention orders" in the new gun bill.

Whenever they start playing games with language, I wonder what's afoot.

Democrats talk about "universal background checks" as though it means "you have to get a background check whenever you buy a gun" (already the law). Buried in the details are things like making it a felony to hand your daughter-in-law a pistol to try on the range, or asking your neighbor to keep an eye on your guns while you're on travel.

Her last movie was 1927s The Telephone Girl. She spent most of her remaining years at her vacation home in Bermuda and died in 1989.

She also appeared in the Theda Bara debut movie A Fool There Was and so is a major character in my novel The Director's Cut.

339 I get my electricity from a rural COOP. They buy it elsewhere as they don't have a generating plant(s). The other day we got their monthly magazine which has tips about reducing your energy footprint and other local flavor stuff. What was interesting is that twice this year they've had less than favorable articles on EV's and then on solar panels.

The one on EV's was pretty bad as it outlined the massive amount of infrastructure even an at home charging unit takes and how much the surrounding electrical infrastructure has to be beefed up. The one this month on solar panels was also a bit on the negative side. Mostly because it cuts into their bottom line I guess. But they correctly point out the ROI on solar can be very long and people have a misconception that they simply power your house when the sun's out.

Like most "renewable" fuels, it's more a way of getting rid of feedstock than it is producing fuel.

378 The one this month on solar panels was also a bit on the negative side. Mostly because it cuts into their bottom line I guess.

Solar also introduces a whole lot on uncertainty into the market. Generally speaking, the RTO has auctions where energy producers bid to sell energy for a given fifteen minute period of time. As demand changes, so does the required amount of electricity. Wind providers, by law have sweetheart deals that force RTOs to buy from them first and whatever is needed afterward is auctioned. This is also true for home solar units that do net grid installations where any solar collected that isn't used is sold back to the utility - avoiding the whole auction business and fetching fairly high rates for energy that is unreliable and screws up the grid frequency and load balancing. Again, blame politicians for mandating unreliable and unstable energy to be forcefully injected into what many call a National Security issue.

Don't be afraid of voting third party.

There is wisdom in the idea that the GOP is screwed beyond repair. I don't entirely agree with it (I think it can be made reasonably reflective of the base with years and years of hard work), but that doesn't mean we just willingly give them votes at every general election.

If the GOP keeps losing ground to third parties like the Constitution Party, either they have to readjust within those places they are losing ground or they simply cede the conservative ground completely to that third party.

In addition, the red wave is coming, and it is going to be big. This means that you should feel safe to undermine GOP quislings. Them losing a couple of GOPe squishes to Democrats in safe red districts changes little in the overall composition of Congress. I voted against Nancy Mace this morning, and, if she wins the primary, I'll vote against her in November with a clear conscience.

As a person who owns property will several producing wells (I can poke my head out the window and see one of them Right Now), those beasts require a lot of three phase 480 volt power (which requires its own powerlines and transformers). Also, daily visits to check that nothing sprang a leak or otherwise went down. Then there is the matter of pipes, tanks, scheduled pick-ups, dealing with a dozen different government agencies so as not to incur fines for ticky tacky BS.

Refining is a whole other thing: it is not like firing up the BBQ, or making moonshine.

That reminds me of a joke: two hunters in the wilds of West Virginia come across a mountain cabin. They knock on the door and ask the owner if they can hunt on his land.

"Sure you can," the farmer answers. "And on your way back, I'd be mighty grateful if you'd bring me back a jug of shine from the still on that hill over yonder."

So the hunters do their thing, have a lovely day, and then head over to the still. Just as they fill the jug, a rifle shot comes out of nowhere, barely missing the man at the tap. The two hunters take off at a run, never stopping until they get back to the farmer's cabin.

"One of your neighbors just shot at us!" they say as they hand the jug over. "Must be trying to steal your liquor!"

"Shucks, I should have told you,"
the farmer responds as he takes a big swallow of the shine. "That ain't my still."

The superfast chargers need to be fed with a 30 kva transformer as opposed to a typical 10 or 15 that power a 7-11 or Shell Cstore gas station. And that means the power upstream must be able to support that load.

All true. But this is not the death of due process. Due process went away with our "Child Protective Services" regime. Administrative agencies can deprive you not of guns but of your children. Based on nothing at all other than an anonymous complaint. This has been the case for decades. And not only do you not have due process, you probably have no recourse. First appeal is to the agency that made the decision. You have to get permission to go to court AFTER that.

It's primarily from the distillation (fractionation) of crude. Crude is heated and the various liquids are separated by their boiling points.

There are some other units like crackers that break apart heavy oils, sulfur removal, and some octane modification units. But for the most part it's just separating out the crude.
