Nvidia had it's own big Computex announcement the day after AMD. If you want a server-only GPU that uses 600W and costs tens of thousands of dollars and can't actually output video, they're all over that.

Not particularly interesting for you or me, but it does make them a lot of money.
Asus announced a new 500Hz gaming monitor. (AnandTech)

Why?
Asus also announced their high-end AM5 motherboard for the upcoming Ryzen 7000 series. (AnandTech)

The ROG Crosshair X670E supports two full-length PCIe 5.0 slots, plus a x4 slot running at a lower speed but I don't know what, and 5 M.2 slots two of which are also PCIe 5. Plus USB 4. Which when you add it all up requires more PCIe lanes than the CPU has available. Not sure what they've done there.
Spain is investing $13 billion to upgrade the country's semiconductor industry. (AP News)

I was looking around what countries had semiconductor factories and I believe Spain was on the list - they're not starting from zero. And there are worse ways to spend $13 billion, as our governments prove to us every day.

I do not expect much to come of this nonetheless.

359 Long time lurker. Just came to say that 'continue reading' often opens in a new page. When I hit the back button I get an ad page and when I hit back again I'm back to where I started. Well this time the ad was for porn. My Google chrome window on my pixel 4xl had a women baring her breasts in the shower and saying 'cum play with me'. I really like this site but I can't continue to enjoy the content if it's going to include sexual solicitation. I'm hoping this is something that can be fixed
I've spent far to much effort to battle this demon. If not it's cool no hard feelings.

12 So my 8 year old Samsung Note 4 phone finally died last week at the worst possible time, of course.

I ordered a Samsung S22 Ultra and got it set up. It is pretty slick and mostly set up with all the old apps I had set up.* It has no 3.5" mini jack. Since it has no SD card storage, I got the 512GB model. I'll be pleased if it last me another 8 years.

*I'm looking for a decent replacement for ES File Explorer if anyone has any hot tips.

I don't know the number of minutes, but it sounds like we have a couple of hero Border Patrol agents:

The Associated Press news agency reports that a US Border Patrol official who was nearby when the shooting began rushed into the school and shot and killed the gunman, who was behind a barricade.

Two border agents were reportedly shot in an exchange with the gunman. One agent was shot in the head, officials say, adding that both were now in a stable condition in hospital.

She announced here a little back that she is having a full hysterectomy related to cancer. The "good" news was they didn't get her in nearly as fast as they did a good friend of mine so I'm hoping that means the condition is not as bad as it was in my friend. Still worried sick for her.

Parents take their kid to the doc, get a script, and the kid takes them. Parents are dissatisfied, try another doc, get a different script. Kid's taking some or all, maybe some recreational junk, and the next thing you know he has a raging drug cocktail scrambling things.

63 People will say we need to ban guns, while ignoring how many people were slaughtered at the Bataclan and surrounding areas all because even the worthless cops in those countries don't have guns, it took them over an hour to get people who did. Same with thre terrorist attacks in England, where the terrorist executed cops and walked around without a care, because they knew no once had a gun to stop them (people took clear video from their houses, if one person had a rifle they could have saved many lives)

10 times out of 10 these killings wouldn't have happened in the US if existing gun laws were abided by. As almost 100% of gun crime is committed by people with illegal guns, or those who shouldn't have been allowed to buy guns, but pro-crime DAs decide not to prosecute, thus allowing people to then buy guns later (though that might be a benefit to them as without these mass shootings they can't fund raise on being anti-2nd amendment)

Yeah, I'm always hung up on the part where the bad guys only stop shooting four year olds once someone else with a gun shows up.

The obvious solution is to allow concealed carry on school grounds by parents and teachers if they want. So what we'll do is ban guns off of school grounds instead.

Yep. There was an article in an NRA magazine a few years ago that had a detailed writeup about how seven (7) people's names in New York City came up in something like 90%+ of all gun crimes there. Yeah the cover art just begs to be hidden under a mattress.

In my anime news, I finished Durarara x2 recently. Really really disappointed. Gave the original a 10, and the sequel a 4. The entire show is pointless and is filled with characters that have no point of being there who get multiple episodes of back story.

I'm rewatching The Great Pretender so I can finally write a review. It holds up during a 2nd watching. Next might be the newest installment of SAO on Netflix, just gotta read my reviews of the first 9 so i can remember what the hell went on.
