State Farm Insurance Caught Pushing Transgender and Non-Binary Books to School Libraries to Start Conversations with Children as Young as Five Year Olds About Their Genders

In January, State Farm Insurance actively advocated a company-wide program to get "Transgender, Inclusive and Non-Binary" books into school libraries to spark "challenging, important and empowering conversations with children ages 5 and up. The company's LGBTQ advocacy shifted dramatically on Monday, however: "Conversations about gender and identity should happen at home with parents, State Farm said in a statement after they were exposed by the independent non-profit organization Consumers' Research. On January 18, 2022, State Farm's Corporate Responsibility Analyst Jose Soto sent out an internal email calling on its Florida agents to participate in a "unique project" to "diversify" classrooms, community centers and libraries. In the email, Soto said State Farm had partnered with the GenderCool Project to get books about being transgender and non-binary in front of schoolkids as young as 5-years-old. "State Farm is partnering with The GenderCool Project to help diversify classroom, community center and library bookshelves with a collection of books to help bring clarity and understanding to the national conversation about Being Transgender, Inclusive and Non-Binary," the email reads. "The project's goal is to increase representation of LGBTQ+ books and support our communities in having challenging, important and empowering conversations with children Age 5+." Soto said approximately 550 State Farm agents and employees nationwide would have the opportunity to donate to the GenderCool Project's three-book bundle, titled, "A Kids Book About Being Transgender," "A Kids Book About Being Inclusive," and "A Kids Book About Being Non-Binary," and encouraged six Florida agents to receive and donate the books to their communities. In a series of Tweets, Monday, Will Hild, the executive director for Consumers' Research, blasted State Farm over its aggressive LGBTQ advocacy. "This gross and blatant attempt to indoctrinate our children by State Farm is shameless, and consumers should be aware a company founded on family values is now encouraging five-year-old children to question their gender" said Hild.

Mr. Black works for State Farm. He got the internal memo as well, and what the word is is that it was more an alliance with the agency side of State Farm, who are independent employees with this tranny org. Some agents(?) put this together and it didn't come from Corporate. But of course, the State Farm name gets attached. There were a lot of concerned complaints going into Corporate from other agents, who were likely getting an earful from their policyholders. Sounds a little fishy, but I know when I showed the original story to Mr. Black, he didn't recognize any name quoted in that story. And he's very familiar with department heads and big names within the company. He was skeptical from the beginning when I first showed it to him.

But the following applies to all companies who go Left on *any* issue, no matter how small. One thing the Right needs to understand is how to apply itself in these fights.
Spend small amounts of effort on every front. Push at companies/institutions all over the place, and when one apologizes... then you make the big effort. When they give you the upper hand like that, that's when you start when you start shoving, punching, and kicking until they're in the fetal position, begging for mercy. Let up, and then spend small amounts of energy periodically bullying them, so they never forget their place.
Every time you succeed in forcing one to its knees, the rest become more timid, until all you have to do is raise an eyebrow at some new company, and they'll wilt.

I have State Farm on both house and car. They rebuilt this house after a house fire in 2006. If you have had a house fire, you don't want to switch companies as most won't cover you. I'll wait to see if I change companies on the car insurance until after I move. I hope they really put an end to this nonsense as my agents here have been really good.

Which agents, I wonder. Was it most of them? Probably not. Most agents were probably "really upset" when they realized how many customers they were going to lose. State Farm might not care about losing some regressives, but the local agent surely does. I'll bet there are some State Farm agents in conservative areas that are now downing Maalox straight with no chaser.
And the mass E-Mail is interesting on its own. Who is "@StateFarm" in this case? The executives? Probably the executives. If so, then did the executives even know about this, or was it all done by a loose cannon HR department, and now the executives have to pick up the pieces? I don't much care and I hope this hurts badly and makes other firms put rules in place to contain HR (if it was them instead of the execs themselves), but I am curious.

Stare decisis is a common law thing unrelated to Chevron. Chevron gave the administrative state authority to write pretty much whatever regulations it wanted without input from Congress, the only body authorized to write laws in our Constitution. This created the tyranny of the administrative state that can make whatever rules it wants and, since it exists in the executive branch of government, it also gives it the authority to take action against those not following it.
So, it's completely removed from the governance by representation that's key to our government's structure, but it's also highly corrupt at its core, allowing the two competing functions of government to exist in the same body.

If they really want to be "inclusive" (which they don't), then why are they only providing kids with books that push one particular point of view on controversial gender issues, that of the left?
Why haven't they provided some more "diverse" kiddie books, like say Johnny the Walrus, which teaches kids about the transgender issue from a non-leftist point of view?

The books that SF was providing are written by "transgender" and "non binary" authors, and they present the left, and only the left, point of view of these issues. The leftist point of view is also depicted as the only possible correct point of view, and the kid is told that adopting that point of view is the only way that a kid can be happy and brave and live as their "authentic" self.
That's not "inclusivity," that's leftist indoctrination.

Just as an example, my parents had a house fire and had a policy with State Farm for around 20 years. Not long after the claim, State Farm dropped them. They were terrible to deal with and bill themselves as a "premium" insurance company.
It's almost a game to constantly change your insurance constantly, they take advantage of loyalty.

This absolutely true for car insurance. I'm not sure about homeowner. After five incident-free years (sometimes three, depending on the insurance company), the company assumes you don't shop around and will start raising your premiums much faster. The sweet spot for car insurance is to switch every 3-5 years.
I'll see with my new company whether they do that. I changed when I moved and did some bundling so I will shop it in 2024 and see what comes up.

That's not a problem with Chevron specifically, that's a problem with how SCOTUS practices in general. The unwillingness to review past decisions is a problem with how SCOTUS remains meek in the face of previous overreaches by previous Courts. The problems with Chevron are about the administrative state, not about SCOTUS's unwillingness to revisit it. The path to dismantling it is through SCOTUS attacking stare decisis (which seems more likely in general with the potential overturn of Roe around the corner), though.

Exactly. And he makes very good money. He's just counting down the time now. TBH, I will say again that State Farm was a truly excellent company to work for. I worked for them back in the 80s and 90s. Great family atmosphere. Great benefits. Great camaraderie. They really cared about their employees. Over the decades, he and I have both talked at length about how, slowly, it started to morph into something neither of us recognized. Personally, I think it accelerated for the worse when Ed Rust Jr. retired. It's just such a shame because I really admired them as a company for a long time.

Our insurance guy is an independent. We were with Allstate for a while and then AmFam. Then we went with him and he looks for us every so often. He's moved us a few times to other companies. We are with a mutual company called West Bend out of WI, they have been great to us. Had a couple claims and were good. Last year we had none and you get 5% of your entire home and auto $ back. Which was cool.

It was fanatically obsessed with diversity to the point that it insisted that a certain percentage of your employees had to be the right color. Stare decisis has a proper place in judicial structures. It's what creates the case law that provides guidelines around newer questions that come up not covered in founding documents, if there are any (unlike the English constitution which is pretty much just centuries of case law).
Stare decisis is just a reality of how judiciaries operate, but the problem is when bad decisions get enshrined simply because they were made and are on the books. That's an institutional problem, not really a process problem.

I was under the impression it was the agents that got this yanked. They are State Farm's bread and butter. Without them, the company wouldn't exist. They are the pampered set, or they used to be. It was the agent, not the claims employees or Regional Office employees, that could qualify for an extravagant trip once a year to swank locations. I'm sure the pressure likely came from them and it was them who caused the reversal. Because it's them who lose their book of business when people get p*ssed and go elsewhere.

I'm with the Lizard people at present; have been with Flo's Bros, and they did fine on my big claim in 2019, then jacked their rates on me. I called the Hartford after seeing their spots with Matt McCoy. Get this: They said they couldn't even give me a quote unless I was *already* a member of AARP -- swore it was state law here. The ads don't mention that little detail.
Smaller deals like The General and GoAuto redirect to State Farm. And I'm not ex-military or a member of a military family, so USAA is out. I'm stuck until I can move to a saner state.

I truly believe they let the insane asylum patients run the asylum (this Soto fellow) and gave them free reign to sling this garbage. Nonetheless, their name is attached to it now and in hindsight, they should've had some very strict guidelines for these "corporate responsibility" yo-yos and their brethren, the diversity and inclusion officers who also peddle this sickness.
One thing SF has really hated is bad publicity. This has now been flung around their necks. Hope they rethink things going forward.

Ahhh, the Trump wars. That's kind of when I left for a while or took a break. Oddly enough I was against Trump at first. Then like Ace I warmed and then I was digging through Trumps Trash. I still love Trump, some of the shine is off but still love what he did. I love this place and it sucked to see a civil war going on so I just stopped checking in and or commenting for a while. It's OK to disagree but sometimes when it gets ugly there's no point, you're not going to change anyone's mind at that point.
