AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
2/12 – D asked for prayers for John Rogers and his family. John was diagnosed with liver cancer last week and is at stage 3. He is not doing well and any prayers for him and his family would be appreciated. His daughters are 8, 11, and 14. A “GoFundMe” has been established if anyone wishes to contribute: https://gofund.me/1fe7aabb
5/6 Update – John is home and the treatments for cancer are helping him keep food down. He has lost a lot of weight, but his faith is getting him through this. Everyone is very grateful for the prayers being sent their way. They are still waiting to see if this is just one cancer they are dealing with or two, but it is liver cancer for sure.
5/12 Update – John had to go back to the hospital because of issues with the treatments he has been taking. They are now also dealing with a blood clot in his kidney.

5/2 – creeper sends a request that a fellow blogger needs our prayers. MOTUS is fighting two brain tumors, metastasized from esophageal cancer.
http://www.michellesmirror.com/2022/05/a-motus-health-update.html#.Ym_kIExOn1I

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

1 Coffee thread! I've already pounded back two mugs of coffee this morning. (I really enjoy the weekly coffee themed picture.)

A couple of months back I ditched the cream and sugar I used to put in my coffee, and adjusted to having it black. That first week was a little rough, and it still has its moments, but I'm basically there now.

The left loves the power of memes and mantras. In the early BLM days it was required (for many) to repeat the phrase, and it was risky or career ending to say "All Lives Matter".

Just as saying "there are two genders" is now dangerous in some places. They don't quite have one exact meme (that I can think of) for global warming, but denial of that CO2 lie is dangerous, and of course denial of Faucism is also dangerous for careers.

And, more than a week later, nothing has happened. Tuesday I'll call the vet's office and if nothing has come through from the pharmacy I'll ask them to write something out for me to take there.

Actually, a news chyron here reported three shot [nonfatally I assume] in Chicago last night when three-shot in Chicago is a rounding error in the grand scheme of things.

I can only imagine it was reported here to push the "U.S. guns bad" narrative as it didn't go on to say "three children shot", that they have reported on in the past.

Not simple but I would bet bad capacitors on the control board. It happens a lot. A repair guy will replace the whole board but it's repairable if you can handle it.

Defrost the whole thing and plug it back in and see if it will work again.

129 agitator could be coil is frozen up or blocked. Remove food block doors open plug in a fan to blow around freezer compartment, unplug. keep an eye on drain hose in back should soon see water dripping out into pan next to compressor. Once water stops its defrosted close up and restart empty. should be only half a quart or so if its not frozen up fully. If its a newer fridge sometimes it just resets with pulling the plug. Have a power outage recently? had a power blip once stopped cooling, just pulled plug for 3 min and it did full reset

Aha! The "defrost timer" is probably the control board and the fan didn't actually need replacing because the board was acting funny. It makes the fan run slow or just sit there jittering. Same thing happened to me and it fooled me. I replaced the swollen caps on the control board and it's been working probably a year now.

201 *Another* out-of-control "controlled burn" in NM?

It was back in the 90s, I think, when the Forest Service (I think) did a "controlled burn" near Los Alamos. The town was burned to the ground. The lab nearby was spared. Incredible. As I recall the regional guy was new, and ordered a burn out of season. How the F can something so important and basic get by everyone else without somebody vetoing it?

Anyway, some wag at the time remarked that "THIS is a serious effort at nuclear arms control" (even though the lab did not burn).

Yes, because they're made with dough, not "do", but I understand people shortening things on signs so they can make the letters larger and more eye-grabbing, or just to have to use less letters.

Then there's the corporations and companies that are ever in a quest to misspell the names of things so they can trademark them, as common words can not be trademarked.

234 Those "control boards" in current day refrigerators replaced synchronous motor powered mechanical timers that controller the "automatic" defrost cycles.

This replacement was initiated by an industry-wide mandate to improve electrical appliance efficiency buy eliminating the previously timed interval between defrost cycles and relying on temperature data from the freezer.

The "control boards" are absolutely the cheapest design and construction that is possible. Hooked up to line voltage in your house they are subjected to all kinds of electrical trash that eventually cause them to fail. The market has driven the replacement cost to a large percentage of the replacement cost, so there are countless refrigerators junked because a 50 cent part died an all too predictable death.

The sync motors are just about bullet proof but were ordained to hurt mother Giaia. So instead of burning a few extra pounds of coal, you need a truckload to replace the one that gets heaved into the landfill.

Repeat this scenario in dozens of different products.

Modern day civilization hangs by a similarly fashioned and increasingly fragile thread.

Much of Texas stays in a "Burn Ban" where they even bag up the public grills at parks and highway rest stations. It isn't just high winds, its also dry conditions. Jose Q Public can't be trusted to grill a burger.

But the Federales, who will never see a lawsuit for the death, destruction and loss of lives and property due to gross negligence will burn down half the state and no one even gets reprimanded.

257 I've done lots of controlled burns. It's surprising how easily and quickly conditions can change from OK to Oh No. Just having the sun come out from behind cloud cover will markedly and immediately stimulate the intensity of the fire. Their quality is high, and they continue to bake throughout the day, unlike the Dunkin' nearby it (one of only a few here), which switched to what I think is called a "commissary" model a while back (central facility makes all the donuts and they're distributed to the outlets).

And the neighborhood place that dates back to junior high day era for me is still there and good, but of course Vietnamese now. Several friends who had kids in the 80s noted how the youngin's thought donuts were some kind of Asian thing, since almost every donut place was run/owned Vietnamese-Americans starting then.

I think the manufacturers of those cheap dishwashers also contract with high end acoustics engineers to design in the most loud and disruptive sounds to be amplified - just to punish the purchaser for buying a planet destroying cheap washer.

When the neighbors call in noise complaints to the police about how loud your dishwasher is - you know you have a cheap appliance.

Arkansas is lovely and we are groovin' on being surrounded by family. The younger generation is happy, productive, mostly married, and the married ones are having lots of kids.

I asked if they still made ones with the dial controls and he said yes. They are about $200 dollars and used mostly in cheap apartments.
Buying one of those and getting it installed would have been about the same as the repair bill.

Some of the older ones with the dials and clockwork controls had nylon gears that would also fail regularly.

Sounds like an opportunity for someone who has the tools and skills to make metal gears.

272 Someone posted a link to the Google Earth view of the Uvalde school. It is helpful in understanding some of the "facts". The school is not all in one building. There are numerous classroom buildings. The shooter was holed up in one.

That makes it simple, just have them treat one of those classroom trailer buildings like the house in the Clint Eastwood movie "The Gauntlet".

Since the kids are all on the floor dead and dying, just strafe the building a little over waist high for an adult.

Nylon gears are cheaper and quieter - also builds in repeat customers.

274 Thanks for the prayers, everyone. I really appreciate it. I am in pain but have some medication and the pain is better than it was on Friday. I can also now get up without help.

280 Can we all just calm down a bit please?

***********

That. Right there. That is a huge part of the problem. As long as "resistance" remains passive, the problem will do nothing but escalate.
