I Went To A Hunting Party Once. I Didn't Like It. Terrible People, They All Started Hunting ONT!

Greetings, and welcome to Thursday night. I've been getting a lot of emails from the Horde asking about the barrel. “Where is it?” people want to know, “What is it like inside”? Well, I can't tell you that, but I will post this picture of the outside:

Watch your tags, OK?

Thursday Quiz

Can you guess the TV show from the first three words of its theme song?

I got 10/10, how did you do?

Molon Lovey

We need to be forthright, in no uncertain terms, what exactly will be the consequences if they try to confiscate our weapons.

Weird Link Of The Day

Little Nuns

So apparently this artist got a request for a commission. I don't know the exact request, but it contained the words “Nun” and “duck”. That may not be exactly what the person requesting the art wanted to ask for, but the artist thought that was a hell of an idea, and thus nuns and ducks was born. Here are some of the results.

On Bias And The Narrative

He Looked At The Data And Discovered The BLM Narrative About Cops Was A Lie. Then He Was Fired.

“A decade ago, my experience at Thomson Reuters would have been unthinkable. Most Americans probably think it’s still unthinkable. That’s what makes it so dangerous. Most of us don’t understand how deeply compromised our news sources have become. Most of us have no idea that we are suffused with fictions and half-truths that sound sort of believable and are shielded from scrutiny by people whose job is to challenge them. This is true, above all, of my fellow liberals, who assume that only Republicans complain about the mainstream media. But this is not a partisan issue. This is a We The People issue,” he wrote.

This from a liberal. How long can a country be gaslit before it says enough?

Related: Sweden’s Lund University researcher faces prosecution for study that showed most rapes are committed by immigrants

Correction: How long can the world be gaslit?

Education

This is really Ace's drum to beat, he's been quite vocal about it lately, but I found this to be of interest. Now it could be that this is a more or less normal sex-ed bok, but in tone it seems to be aimed at a pretty young demographic, and seems intended to normalize teens having sex instead of just explaining the mechanics.

Musical Interlude

Sunday Morning Coming Down was popularized by Johnny Cash, and his is probably the best known version of the song, but it was written by Kris Kristofferson. This is a fan made video for the song using clips from some of Kristofferson's many movie roles, and it's excellent, as good as any custom made music video. The clips from Cisco Pike are jarring – without his trademark beard, Kristofferson is almost a dead ringer for Kurt Russell. Johnny's version of the song is excellent...but I don't think anyone sung it with the pathos it was written to evoke as well as Kristofferson himself.

But It's “Free”!

Why is Canada euthanising the poor?

Many in the healthcare sector came to the same conclusion. Even before Bill C-7 was enacted, reports of abuse were rife. A man with a neurodegenerative disease testified to Parliament that nurses and a medical ethicist at a hospital tried to coerce him into killing himself by threatening to bankrupt him with extra costs** or by kicking him out of the hospital**, and by withholding water from him for 20 days. Virtually every disability rights group in the country opposed the new law. To no effect: for once, the government found it convenient to ignore these otherwise impeccably progressive groups.

Since then, things have only gotten worse. A woman in Ontario was forced into euthanasia because her housing benefits did not allow her to get better housing which didn’t aggravate her crippling allergies. Another disabled woman applied to die because she ‘simply cannot afford to keep on living’. Another sought euthanasia because Covid-related debt** left her unable to pay for the treatment** which kept her chronic pain bearable – under the present government, disabled Canadians got $600 in additional financial assistance during Covid; university students got $5,000.

** Whoh, whoa, whoa, hold on there. I'm informed ad nauseam that healthcare in Canada is “free”, and that nobody has to worry about medical costs. Could that be a....lie???

And The Pulitzer Prize Goes To..

...this article. What Bobby McIlvaine Left Behind

And well deserved, too. An excellent piece about the impact of 9/11 on the family and fiancée of a man who died in the attack. It's fascinating to see the different way that the reacted, and how they learned to cope with the loss. Lengthy, but worth the read.

87 Oh, then everything about this is Bob's your uncle. WTF? No NO NO, this is just wrong.

Of course it's fucking wrong. That's why I used it as an example of the kind of stuff Ace has been posting about for weeks. All I said is that I thought it was about incest when I first read it, then realized that it isn't. That doesn't mean that it isn't nauseating as it stands.

94 Sigh.

It turns out that comparing turnout in the Republican primary to turnout in the Democratic primary is an excellent predictor on how things will go in the general election in November.

There have been ten state primaries, and somebody compared relative turnout in each primary to relative turnout in a recent election.

In nine of the primaries, the Republicans significantly increased their share of the total votes cast, versus the earlier election.

The one exception?

Oregon, where the Republican share went up by only 1%.

Sigh.

Sounds like amphibolite. The black mineral could be hornblende, and the gold flecks could be mica. Such rocks are often deeply weathered and soft.

285 I'm a little unclear how it works, exactly. If you write a tune, and get it published, something something nobody else can record it unless and until you record it first. But if you get your tune picked up by Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash or (insert favorite musician or group here: ) ; well you can make some nice bucks

I think the rule is if you want to record someone else's song, you pay a royalty and give them writer's credit.

A lot of lawsuits around not following that rule, though.

there is some thought (from people who are paranoid for a living) that a lot of the newish "bushmeat" related diseases in Africa are not from bushmeat but from either experimental vaccines tried on the locals or experimental releases of modified viruses.
One of the reasons for thinking this is the odd distribution of outbreaks like Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever
Another is that Africans have been eating bushmeat since Homo Saps could break a rock into a sharp edge.

I'd like to see a similar long story about one or maybe 10,000 of the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who signed up after 9/11 to avenge Bobby McIlvaine's death. I'd like to read about how their families are doing, coping with the deaths of their loved ones. What they think about the clusterfuck that Obama made of Iraq and Biden made of Afghanistan.

We'll never really see those stories, though. Which is also sad. But not surprising.

Then a scientist was sitting in his lab one day and he thought: "Hey, I've got this sabretooth tiger skull sitting here . . . "

Shooting an "unarmed" man, evokes a certain response. It implies certain things. While it might be true strictly (or technically) speaking, the fact the decedent was slamming the officers head against a wall trying to steal his weapon in order to shoot him, well you have to get to paragraph 14 to find that part out. A lot of the "unarmed" folks were trying really, really hard to become armed is the point.

Looking at this grid thing, it's the middle of the country, the MISO area that is at highest risk. Everything to the west of that is at elevated risk. We on the East coast to that MISO line are good for now.

The cause of this is basically the green shit. Plus weather. A major transmission line feeding MISO was taken out by a tornado -- it will be June before its online again. Then droughts dropping water levels are reducing hydro availability.

And then this green shit, decommission "dirty plants" in favor of wind, solar, and shit has done the most fuckage.

MISO will be hard pressed to handle normal demand over the summer. The West will be fucked if demand is higher than expected.

And yet we have some very visible evidence that admin will push back or ignore. That being said, there are still numerous good teachers out there. I lived in Spokane when they experienced a severe ice storm. We were without power for almost a week. There were significant issues but most everyone behaved. I think it will depend on the cause/reason people don't have power. If it's non-weather related (politically motivated) and people can't see what is actually causing the problem their reaction may be more reactionary. Want to cripple a major city? Shut off the water and stop food deliveries. They will be war zones within a week.

She came to the bathroom to inquire if I was alright before she figured out what was going on, and I told her I was way, way too drunk to go to school. But I eventually got my shit together.

When gas first went over $1 a gallon way back, that was a problem for some of the old pumps. They'd do stuff like, if gas was $1 per gallon, set the price at .50 and then double the total.

Without power for a long period, the water stops. It will stop first in the high rises, then the lower flows as the water towers are depleted. No pumps to get keeping the water uphill.

Same with sewage, where you depend on pumping to get the shit uphill.

Food, at least the kind that needs to be refrigerated, is gone too, in short order. No power to run the refrigeration equipment.

And all the electronic processes for payment and such are gone too.

411 After reading last night's comments re Jeri Ryan being responsible for JEF I had to look it up.

Jeri Ryan was married Jack Ryan and Illinois Republican who a certain unknown Democrat one Barry soetero was running against him. Here is how rest played out according to Wikipedia.

"Judge Robert Schnider agreed to release the custody files.[33] The decision went against both parents' direct request and reversed the decision to seal the papers in the best interest of the child. It was revealed that six years earlier, Jeri had accused Jack Ryan of asking her to perform sexual acts with him in public[34] and in sex clubs in New York, New Orleans, and Paris.[32][35] Jeri described one as "a bizarre club with cages, whips, and other apparatus hanging from the ceiling."[36] Jack denied these allegations. Although Jeri only made a brief statement,[37] and she refused to comment on the matter during the campaign, the document disclosure led Jack to withdraw his candidacy;[38][39] his main opponent, Barack Obama, then won the 2004 United States Senate election in Illinois.[40]"

Looking it up, Spokane's ice storm was in Nov. of '96.

Half of the city lost power. After 3 days. 100,000 were still out, and after 6 days, 20,000 were still out.

It wasn't the whole city, and not for very long. Some were without power for over a week, but the city was not completely without power.

A major city completely without power goes to hell in a few days. No water, no refrigeration, no sewage, no nothing.

Denninger wrote a Ticker the other day about what needs to be done to prevent economic collapse, which we're on track for.

First, Fed needs to start hiking rates like a mo-fo. That's going to throw the economy into a recession, more likely actual technical depression. DOW will crash back to 2011 levels. Yep, you're 401K will be about 1/3 of what it is now. An 67% haircut. Housing market? LOLGF.

Energy: stop all refined product exports. Eliminate all restrictions on energy production. Let everybody drill and generate, no matter how dirty or how uncouth. Start polluting the hell of the environment.

It was Volcker who gave you 18% interest rates, taming the inflation that Tricky Dick started by pressuring then Fed Chairman Arthur Burns to keep the money spigots open. Tricky Dick believe the Fed cost him the '60 election by tightening too much.

There are accounts that Tricky Dick actually physically threatened Burns.

When Volcker took away the punch bowl, the Federal govt, was not too much in relative debt. Uncle Sam could stand 16% 10 yr T rates. Not today. Uncle is $30T in debt, total, and that kind of interest rate would bankrupt him.

The dollar is doomed, unless the Fed does a Volcker, and that means bankrupting the federal govt. Denninger and some others are of the opinion the Fed will do this, as they know that if the dollar goes down, they go down with it. Of course, the Fed exists only at the pleasure of Uncle. I don't know what will happen.

But I know this, we need to go through a gut-growling Greatest Depression to clear all the bad debt and excesses. The can has been kicked down the road as far as possible. The piper is going to have to be paid.

Posted by: Puddleglum

Yes!!! I only worry about things I can effect. I think it's foolishness to think anyone knows God's mind. Amidst the misery may arise a revival the likes of which we have not seen. I firmly believe it will come from those of us sitting in the pews not from the pulpit. Our flesh and blood enemies will be caught off guard. Our true enemy knows and he fears this more anything else we can do.

Vote Democrat and get free shit. That's TPTB's only answer to anything.

They really never grasped that the 'rope, tree, some assembly required' idea was about/for them, not us. They seem to believe that since no one has rebelled in over one hundred and fifty years, no will do it now or in the future. They like rearranging the deck chairs on the USS Titanic as it makes them feel oh so important. But they'll be just as stunned as the Coucesus when the shit really hits the fan for themselves. Ahistorical cluelessness.

463 I read more of that Atlantic article than I should have. So, the twin towers were brought down by controlled demolition to destroy the FBI office on the 23rd floor? Because the FBI was investigating the use of stolen Japanese gold to bankrupt the Soviet Union? Knowing what we know now of the governments underhanded bullshit, that is quaint by comparison. If Sept 11 was an inside job, it would be a conspiracy of thousands. I just don't see it.

That I can believe. The hijackers were all "known to the FBI". But the idea that the WTC buildings were all rigged for a controlled demolition is stupid.

475 I had a feeling about something with this primary in NC and had to look it up. Cawthorn lost by 1,300 votes. But NC11 lost over 14,000 Trump votes due to a judge ruling in February that the map had to change and he removed Avery and Mitchell Counties.

So despite the "scandal" (which now the democrat group that posed as Republicans is admitting to leaking) Madison would have easily won the primary if it wasn't again for Judges unilaterally redrawing district lines.

They're of course trying to make this "a loss for MAGA" but it's just another win for the swsmp doing what they do best.

Probably a squirrel. Strange how the grid in our town is set up. Half of my block, and next street over. Then power was on through part of the "downtown" area. Then another section was dark including traffic lights. Cop was already on it, putting up stop signs

I remember hearing an interview with a guy who wrote a book about the illegal alien problem discussing how two of the pilots were pulled over for traffic violations multiple times and nothing could be done other than to send them on their way because they were in sanctuary cities at the time.

480 This Sussman trial is too funny.

So, apparently, the prosecution found out that one of the jurors kids is on the same Crew team as Sussmans daughter, the judge, who is married to Lisa Pages lawyer, yes that Lisa Page, denied the prosecutions request to replace that juror.

Funny stuff indeed.

Nothing's change since then, except we probably gave them cell phones when they illegally crossed our border so they can call some NGO 'undocumented immigrant rights group' to file a lawsuit on their behalf for being stopped at all.

Remember: The FBI couldn't get into Moussoui's computer until after the fact. Yet they can real my email any time they want.
