Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | "Disinformation Governance Board" On "Pause" Due to BacklashThe right wing alternately seized, pounced on Nina Jankowicz's highly partisan, lunatic statements, laments Taylor Lorenz. LOL. Within the small community of bitter leftwingers paid to campaign for censorship, her "work" was well-regarded. By "harassment and abuse," Lorenz means that the people who Jankowicz intended to censor in the future looked at her previous statements to evaluate her judgment and even-handedness, and found her to be a crazed ideologue. And it's not fair to look at the past internet statements of someone who is going to be deciding if everyone else's internet statements are legal. That Taylor Lorenz, whose entire career is made up of dredging up people's old internet statements and exposing them to cancel them, should be whining about this is preposterous. In addition, here we have an example where past statements are perfectly legitimate -- Jankowicz is no mere private citizen. She's not the sort of minor tween TikToker Lorenz typically exposes. Jankowicz was appointed to head the government's Ministry of Truth. Her past conduct and her past claims about what was truth and what was "disinformation" are of course completely relevant to judging her fitness to decide on truth vs. "disinformation" in the future. Plot twist: SJW with no appreciable skills doesn't want to lose her phoney-baloney job. This is a lie. The board would decide "best practices" for detecting, punishing, and removing "disinformation," which would be passed on to the tech monopolies, who would of course execute the government's demands. That's how they've been working their censorship game for years now.

Jankowicz's experience is a prime example of how the right-wing Internet apparatus operates, where far-right influencers attempt to identify a target, present a narrative and then repeat mischaracterizations across social media and websites with the aim of discrediting and attacking anyone who seeks to challenge them. It also shows what happens when institutions, when confronted with these attacks, don't respond effectively.

Posted by: It's me donna --------------------------- This is an important point. Dems have confused control of the media and narrative on that media for actual public acquiescence. GOPe does too. In reality, true lefties are only about 25 percent or so of the population and conservatives about 35-40 percent or so. The rest of the public hates politics and simply wants results--like no crime, no war, plenty of jobs, wealth, goodies, etc. It is becoming clear that the lefties running the Dems cannot give the don't care crowd safety in the streets from crime, educating their children, low inflation, and so on. That's how they've been working their censorship game for years now. ++++ Yes they have. It's fragmented, though, because lots of agencies are playing. This strikes me as more of a DHS power play to centralize the effort and put themselves in charge. This "pause" is irrelevant and won't change the state of affairs today, and it will be back (though probably under a different name). "wE aReN't goIng tO cEnSOr anYoNE!!!" they lied, all the while knowing full well that their plan was to provide "suggestions" on who to censor to the platforms, and then, well, heck, those platforms are going to do with them what they will on their own accord! /lie It's not at government direction, just very strong government suggestion, you see. It isn't like the government strongly suggesting something comes across as direction, with implicit threat. How's this, gang... what would you do if, say, Twitter refused to follow your suggestions? Speaking of our Orwellian, dystopian federal government, the whole idea of a "border crisis" is one of the most pernicious, widely-distributed Official Lies of our time.
The whole frame is an obvious distraction from the obviously intentional policy to bring in as many illegals into the country as possible, by any means necessary --and it still gets repeated incessantly even by Fox. Once in awhile some Congresscritter brings out the intentionality of their policy in a hearing. But there is no sustained messaging to get through to the vast majority of Americans who simply think they're "doing a poor job of controlling the border." And Buffalo will be their new J6 to make another, hugely illegal leftist assault on our country illegal to talk about. Posted by: Zek at May 18, 2022 12:38 PM (OzNIz) 193

They fundamentally believe that people are one thing or another not based on objective truths, they believe that people hold views merely based on the system in which they live.
They are correct to an extent. Look at cultural approaches in China or Africa. So on the one hand, we have witnessed how they are able to generate more followers: school control, media dominance. So they are self-perpetuating. So now, they are working on destroying the other side using more and more powerful tools. These people HAVE to be defeated- or they will destroy us. Peaceful discourse and disagreement are not one of their values. Their ideology is antithetical to our own. We cannot coexist. Posted by: Aetius451AD at May 18, 2022 12:41 PM (dNqv+) 220

Kurt Schrader is a moderate Democratic congressman from Oregon. Oregon added a Congressional district, and the Democrats furiously gerrymandered Oregon as a result, so most of the district is new to him. He is running against a hard-Left woman who got elected to a couple of terms to a city council in California, lost reelection, moved back to Oregon to go to law school, and has been running for office in Oregon ever since, moving when necessary to be eligible to run. Lorentz's beef, distilled to accurate, non-inflammatory language, seems to be that Jankowicz's detractors engaged in a pattern of behavior previously known as "fair and frank debate" and, using said behavior, convinced others of the objective correctness of their position. Debasing the currency further simply becomes the dog chasing the tail futilely and doing such measures as wage price freezes only makes the population pissed off and spurs the black market. As the value of fiat money goes to zero, the bonds of coercion and loyalty to a regime do so as well. This is especially true of a society geared toward materialism. Biden endorsed Schrader because his district only leans Democratic, and given the political winds, the Leftist loon is likely to lose bigly. The leftist loon's opponent will be a conservative Republican Hispanic woman. If elected, the Republican would be the first Hispanic elected to Congress in Oregon, but the MSM will not spend one second talking about how "pathbreaking" her getting elected would be. I'd say a lot of what has happened in the past 20 years has been too slow on our part. One of the reasons the GOPe got so entrenched is that we did not notice the signs that our elected representatives were quislings. They have had us in their OODA loop for forever. We have reacted rather than throwing the bums out and wrecking them. THIS is one of the big reasons I think the decision to 'work within' the GOP was a mistake. THIS is one of the big reasons I think the decision to 'work within' the GOP was a mistake. No. Burn it to the ground because you cannot reform the mindset of people who want to actively manipulate you instead of do what you want.
Posted by: Aetius451AD ---------------------- You have to take a systems approach and understand the GOP is merely a tool for what constitutionalists desire. Burning down the GOPe is fine as a standalone strategy to improve the GOP but the problem system wide is that doing that allows the Dems to run amok. It is as if we are a Social Democrat party during the late years of the Weimar Republic. The Social Democrats in Germany had a lot of problems but the rising opponents of Commies and Brownshirts were worse. We are in the unenviable task of changing the transmission of the party as it is going down the road. The only way you get to trash the GOP first without massive repercussions is to repeal majoritarian first past the post elections to something like proportional representation. Even there, I think, you will find GOPe monkeying with elections themselves which is why party elders wanted Trump to go quietly. Posted by: whig at May 18, 2022 01:04 PM (Iq9dF) 421

I'm shocked...this may be the first time this fascist adminstration has blinked before public pressure.
That suggests the opposition was far more than "right wing pouncing". The Biden administration has no concern whatsoever for what anyone on the right or Democrat Party has to say. The problem is we have no control over that system (I am primarily talking about the unelected portions.) If we did we could go in and fore all of the consultants and so forth that these jack offs use (Steve Schmidt is a perfect example.) When you are trying to change a culture, removing the cancer is key (or at least the worst parts of it in order to show you are serious.) Even by primarying people, we are not affecting that part of the system we want to change.
Posted by: Aetius451AD ------------------ Well Stevie has his generational wealth from the Lincoln project but that is now poisonous to even Dems after the backfiring on the the Youngkin smear. The problem itself is education of young people and the attitudes of the wealthy donors which creates the rotten culture of the GOPe consultants, candidates, and party apparatus. Plus there is the fact that far too many people want someone else to bell the cat. NaClyDog is one of the rare exceptions in that he is a public official doing the good work. Speculation: What happened was that someone relatively low-level selected her for this post or promoted her for this position, being that the oldsters in the admin know little about the Internet or its personalities. And then her Internet history became public and the oldsters did not want to waste time and energy defending her level of crazy. "Text HILLARY to (555)555-0001 to vote for Hillary Clinton, text DONALD to (555)555-0002 to vote for Donald Trump" or something like that. Trump's people thought that was funny, Clinton's people didn't and complained people could try to vote like that. Trump's people were laughing because they weren't dumb enough to fall for that and they thought Clinton's people were. Clinton's people KNEW their people were dumb enough to fall for that, hence the butthurt. So, what is it you'd say you do here? Walk us through your day. Posted by: The Two Bobs at May 18, 2022 02:17 PM (4I/2K) 581

Elon waived the due diligence period though so the deal could close quickly. It’s like buying a house and waving the inspection. You cant then complain the house had shitty plumbing and bail on the deal, without some penalty.
Posted by: Joe Xiden at May 18, 2022 01:04 PM No. Musk's waiver of the due diligence period is irrelevant. Twitter made their statement about the percentage of bots in SEC filings before any offer was made. If the statement was knowingly false and material to the value of the company (which obviously it is) Musk has grounds to walk away. In fact, the board itself had no power or authority to make any operational decisions. Not at first, perhaps, but you can bet your bottom dollar that eventually it would be festooned with such power and authority. 281 She is 33. She doesn't have extensive experience in anything.
Posted by: dagny, first of her name at May 18, 2022 12:47 PM (ySQBZ) Relatively meteoric rise to the top of government? I'd guess that she is rather handy with a penis. Guess who looks like a frontrunner for Vice-President material. Posted by: River Commander at May 18, 2022 04:22 PM (2graF) 590
"Jankowicz's experience is a prime example of how the right-wing Internet apparatus operates, where far-right influencers attempt to identify a target, present a narrative and then repeat mischaracterizations across social media and websites with the aim of discrediting and attacking anyone who seeks to challenge them."
Just like Alinsky taught us. Thank you, Saul! Posted by: go get your fuckin shine box at May 18, 2022 05:28 PM (WusEB) 591

Looking at her images, I doubt she's handy with a penis or anything else, although I do believe she's married--to a man. Poor bastard. Posted by: go get your fuckin shine box at May 18, 2022 05:30 PM (WusEB) 592
