This is good advice. I try to keep small not too expensive jewelry items in reserve for "just because" surprises. Stuff that's nice enough to show off but not so nice that she's hesitant to wear it to work and risk losing it.

Cowboy Bebop is worth watching. Period. Full stop. There is no "for a cartoon" or whatever required. It's just a really interesting story.

It takes the cliche of giant robots piloted by teens and gives it a more realistic spin. What happens when teenagers with raging hormones and emotional problems are tasked with saving the world? The apocalypse happens, that's what.

Throw in a bunch of Introduction To Psychology 101 type stuff and sprinkle with Kabbalah mysticism for added spice. It's a fun show.

You start to notice where the budget gets cut rather severely. Take a drink every time you see reused animation or five minute long static shots.

Sleepy is very right. Menopause is...or can be...a very disconcerting, depressing period in a woman's life. Mental changes, physical changes are quite challenging to say the least. And some of those changes, yes, seem to happen overnight. I went through it early, around 40. I'm nearly 59 now. It ain't fun. And I still mourn my old self. All I can say is try to be patient, Duke. It's a hard thing to go through. At least for me.

I do like how they had to put a warning on the last episode that pretty much said, "yeah, don't kill yourself after watching this please". I think that was mostly for foreign fans in countries where people will find people involved in shows, and kill their selves on actor's doorsteps.

But I await the moment when it sacrifices everything on the altar of woke and dies. It hasn't yet with just a few seasons left in it's arc. It has been consistently good I think.

On my first jump, I was seated next to the pilot (facing rearwards). He reached across me to open the door as the plane broke contact with the runway, and as we gained altitude he banked sharply to the right.

If you are a squish Republican who just wants a real R lite and not a complete D (like Oz), he'd be who you'd fall to, especially with the combo McConnell/Cruz endorsement. Oz lost his support, but he didn't split with Barnette, he seems to be giving it to McCormick.

Barnette seems to have gotten undecideds to break her way to elevate but then stopped elevating - so, I think the late trade at the top was Oz to McCormick, not Oz to Barnette...but it's early...

My first static jump was out of a C-141 four engine jet. I felt my chute open and checked my canopy. All I saw was fabric pressed against my face. "Oh my God my chute collapsed" I thought. Turns out my steel pot camouflage cover had blown out from between it and my helmet liner and was covering my face. So all I could see, which was enough, were my feet and the ground.

I got home late from a meeting, I rushed in to take my dog out. She jumped right on the bed, looked me full dead on, and peed on the bed. Staring at me the whole time. I just felt bad, I knew I deserved that. She was an angry pup. I'd been away for 12 hours. I had to clean everthing and leave it to dry and we slept on a sleeping bag her curled up by me all forgiven. I still think about that today and feel bad.

As I mentioned upthread, I passed out stepping off the strut. But retained enough executive function to "arch", earning me an opportunity to go up again that afternoon.

And up we go...

We hit altitude, I received the signal to step out. Get slapped on the head, and I step off the strut...
I'm arched, I'm counting: one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand...OMG MY CHIUTE ISN'T OPENING.
I flail about, attempting to pull my reserve, and missing it multiple times. POP...the main opens. The time compression from the first jump to the second distorted my comprehension of how much time I was actually in free fall.
I damn near shit myself though for those few seconds of terror.

No one has seen all of it, because it's running this season.

A "West German" spy has to infiltrate "East Germany" and set up a fake family, so he can get at the reclusive bad guy who only appears at his son's school functions. The spy manages to pick a telepathic orphaned kindergartener for his "daughter" and a professional assassin for his "wife". The joke is that dad and mom don't know what the other two really are. (The mind-reading kid does, obviously.)

There was a show last season (or the season before?) about an assassin family, called "The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in a Different World as an Aristocrat." It was not very good.

Down in Kherson I don't think anyone expects them to be moving much further anyway. From Moscow's perspective, the war entered a "protracted phase" in mid-March, if a quick/political outcome was desired. From Kiev's perspective, it will be as protracted as they decide to, or can, make it. More likely a deal, eventually.

my uncle lived 25 years after getting his pacemaker ... pretty nifty devices. They claimed they caught the stroke soon enough to prevent permanent damage iirc. But that is always questionable I guess ... and "interesting" it was a month after he was vaxxed. 350 35 Light sabers are the reason I could never get into Star Wars. Even as a kid, it was just insultingly dumb.

I was like 14 when Star Wars came out. It was fun, the visuals were great for the time, but as far as the generational obsession and the delving into intellectual aspects of it and interest in endless sequels to explain more? As far as SF meatiness went, it was to even original Star Trek like Hannity is to Rush. Light sabers? Ok, fighting with swords and knives is much better for dramatic conflict than fighting with phasers or laser pistols, I get it, but at least in Dune the author invented a force field armour that stopped quick movements to explain why people with space travel technology fight with blades. Star Wars didn't bother explaining it at all.

376 Some skydivers I knew in New Orleans used to go to "Quincy" (airport a few miles from me), the national event for week long skydiving/party. Uptight people in Quincy shut it down after a few years (too much partying/drugs I guess), event went to Danville, IL last I heard. too bad.
