Trump Walks Out of Piers Morgan Interview

Piers is up to his usual bullshit.

I don't have a problem with the questioning. This is going to be standard questioning from the left. Trump has made the fraudulence of the 2020 election a centerpiece of his campaign for 2024 (re) election. I wouldn't have done that, but he did. He has to defend that.

And he has to expect to defend that from an extremely hostile propagandistic media.

But the framing around these clips, the dramatic voice-over of "A FORMER PRESIDENT IN DENIAL" is, well, pure Piers Morgan -- dishonest, carnival-barker-y, hyped-up tabloid lies.

Based on the hype, I was expecting Trump to look really bad. And then he looks... not bad at all. The "bad" thing he does is walk out, but that's not really bad. He gets up calmly and says "turn the cameras off" calmly, which is his right.

And he says Piers Morgan is dishonest, which we already knew -- he did invade people's privacy by listening to their answering machine messages -- and he's just generally a scumbag.

I think what happened here is that Piers made specific promises to Trump about the interview, based upon their prior history and "friendship" (a TV "friendship"), and then just completely showed that he was lying about that.

Eh.

I don't think this is a win for Trump because I don't think Trump can really win on this issue. He's constantly going to have to be talking about the past, which means he's not going to be talking about stuff most voters -- normies, I mean, not really invested people like us -- care about.

This is a deep, sticky mud issue. Little progress will ever be made on it. Even where there is progress, the media will not credit him for it.

In all honesty, I don't even cover stories where I see there are rulings that help Trump because I'm not sure what the point is -- I agree with the general idea that the election was unfair and "rigged" in a general way.

In no possible world is a court going to step in and call a do-over and install Trump.

Maybe Trump just needs a three minute answer that sums up the rigging in a general way, his five most unassailable points (citing that Time Magazine "fortify the election" admission), and then moves on?

"Take it up with Time Magazine," he can say to further questions.

But I do think this is a loss for Piers Morgan. Just more proof, as if it was needed, that he's a clown and a monkey and an attention whore of a very low quality.

But enough of me telling you what I think -- it's time for you to tell me what I think.

Oh, you might wonder who would give this scumbag huckster a show:

Fox News, of course.

Who else would give cellar-dwelling lefty hucksters and carnival-barkers their own show?

By the way, has Hillary Clinton ever been challenged on her Russia Collusion lies?

Has she ever been challenged on her claim that Russia actually changed vote tallies in voting machines, ever?

Oh: Here's something I can fault Trump for: His frequent fault of putting trust in all the wrong people. Especially people he just knows from TV.

Piers Morgan is an opportunistic scumbag. I guess you have to give interviews to some people.

But... Why him again? He has no credibility. What's the upside of giving an interview to him?

11 I consider keeping voter fraud and the illegitimacy of the regime in the public consciousness to be a win.

The Democrats loudly insisting everything was on the up and up is like below

"The louder he talked of his honor, the faster we counted our spoons,"

You want them to be defending their legitimacy. The second no one is talking about it anymore is the second we've lost on the issue.

Then CNN goes on to talk about how even bringing up voter fraud is crraAAAAAZYy!!!!

Posted by: Thomas Paine at April 20, 2022 04:56 PM (5kI0z)

33 I would suggest projecting it forward, in a way. That is, Trump--or DeSantis, or whoever--ought to make "commitment to free and fair elections" a major campaign issue. Try to pin Biden down at the debate (assuming Biden is still alive at that point) by asking, "will you pledge here and now to support free and fair elections in all states this time around?"

Just pitch it in a way that conveys the point it's the Democrats who have brought this on us; they're the reason we have to talk about this.

This is precisely the point I was making. That Trump using the lost election as his raison d'etre is going to be a divisive loser in many ways, not the least of which is that it will become a constant distraction and easily pull him way off message. Which we know never ends well for Trump. This is how Trump loses people who would otherwise vote for him. True or not, the stolen election os not what people want to hear about. They want to hear about how he is specifically going to fix things.

47 It's not about dem claims that the election was on the up and up, it's about the GOP claims. If the party was aggressive about calling bullshit on the shenanigans prior to November, then I think Trump's behavior would be different. But, they want to push the idea that the election was clean because they can then argue that Trump is an obvious loser and should be discarded in favor of the establishment candidate.

I keep saying that the GOPe needed Trump repudiated in 2020. It didn't happen. In fact, he managed to lose while still having coattails to nearly give the GOP the House. And we'd likely have held the senate if not for McConnell, who pushed for Loeffler over Trumps choice, and then blocked the stimulus check weeks before the runoff.

Bingo. In fact, it needs to a a 30-second or 1-minute long answer, at most. No one ever gets to talk for more than a minute without interruptions on cable news. Once they start interrupting you with questions, diversions, etc., you've lost the thread and the audience.

The main rhetorical approach should be on winning elections in the future. Doesn't mean you ignore what happened. You say you want to be sure it doesn't happen in the future. But this isn't what most voters, epecially swing voters, care about.

Trump and the America First folks in general have a great sales pitch for most voters, and it doesn't include a deep focus on the last election. When you're talking about the last election, you're not talking about the next one.

76 News media has always been partisan but in the past it was not all one sided. Think of Fox News and how they have been vilified and ultimately turned to the communist side. The "news media" is a monolithic leftist-communist propaganda organ. No dissent is tolerated.

Goebbels and PRAVDA wish they had it so good. At least the germans and Russians knew it was all lies. more than half America think it is fact.

77 Trump repeatedly agrees to interviews with hostile media. Rarely will they edit the result fairly. The result is this kind of aggravation.

Trump *does* need to have canned answers for this stuff if he's going to make it a thing, though. Like, the Time article bragging about stealing the election should be the first thing he mentions.

Yup. They still do. There are different factions in government, and the papers follow those different factions. Looking for the points of *disagreement* between the NYT and the WaPo is the best way to get an indication of what the factions are fighting about.

But nobody represents anything outside of a state faction.

84 Trump, as always, has the right instincts but not too great at articulating them. Elections an easy topic to demagogue. Has been for decades. Plus, in this case, they have the Jan 6 jailings and prosecutions (sham that they are) to bolster their legitimacy.

If I were advising him it would be to hammer home its not about re-litigating the past but answering the question, "Why should anyone care to vote in the future?" Is not the first step admitting you have a problem?

91 66 I just look at what Trump did for Youngkin in VA. I bet a lot of people that are all on the Trump must stop talking about 2020 were saying Youngkin shouldn't have Trump at all. But he did. And what was it Trump did? Urge people to vote because they needed to overcome the margin of fraud. And that was the extent of Trump's campaigning in Virginia you could claim was about the 2020 election. But some still will want to try and claim if he runs all he'll do is talk about 2020.
Posted by: buzzion at April 20, 2022 05:00 PM (vMCab)

That was more the doing of the Loudon County parents who protested the violation of their children than anything Trump said.

A TV interview is simply the wrong format to make a complicated case for something as complex as the voter fraud that took place in 2020. And him being a germophobe made him a sitting duck for the COVID scam and the hit to all little guys and THEIR economy. In no possible world is a court going to step in and call a do-over and install Trump.

No, but the fact is the political establishment shut down vote counts in seven states, asserting that the counting had stopped, and then when we got up in the morning, they admitted they had counted through the night, and SURPRISE! Biden was up by just enough to not trigger recounts.

We should not treat the federal government as legitimate until everyone involved has been harshly punished.

138 In their real or imagined recent history, controlling Twitter's content policy was tantamount to deciding the two last presidential races. Mr. Trump, after all, used Twitter to bypass a hostile national media and assemble his winning coalition in 2016. In 2020, progressives used Twitter to quash the laptop story before Election Day and, in their minds at least, to stop a coup after Jan. 6 by kicking Mr. Trump off the platform.

Uniparty types really believe this stuff, and think free markets in ideas loses elections. For that reason, Trump interviews will always be few in number, always carefully "curated" and editorial narratives will dominate. He's a dangerous man, in their eyes.

157 Often times - the point of the interview is to get the subject to walk out - on camara - so the interviewer can proceed with "see, he couldn't take the heat of my truth!"

Nothing is gained for Trump and it hypes Morgan way over his intellectual heft.

Yup. Trump and other conservative politicians can't always avoid doing interviews, so the best solution is to insist that they be broadcast live. No two-hour videotaped interviews that they can later edit to make you look like an idiot. (This is such a favored tactic of the MSM. It's what they did to Sarah Palin, who spent two whole DAYS with an MSM crew.)

As I argued this morning, the theft of the US election was the greatest crime in our history - AND IT MUST NOT BE SWEPT UNDER THE RUG.

That is for a host of vitally important reasons, not least of which is to set the record straight and to do whatever we can to prevent it happening again.

That said, the immediate political aspect of it, vis a vis as a campaign issue is for sure problematic. And G-d bless Trump, he is a lightning rod for sure and is virtually alone against a massive propaganda machine.

Same for DeSantis and anyone else on our side.

That is the problem; to acknowledge the steal and push for election integrity while at the same time running on the disaster of the past 16 months.

Trump strangely always seems to forget that the people running TV shows want to generate maximum buzz in the info-tainment world and maximize ratings. No one interviewing Donald J. Yeah... but, like, it's very dissatisfying to just move on nonetheless. How black is your blackpill? I on one hand agree it's fruitless to argue within the confines of the entrenched system and normie thinking. On the other hand it's yet another instance of "more than half the country can't be bothered with numbers." Whether we're talking about printing dollars, spending dollars, adding debt, or what is and is not within the statistical realm of possibility in any given (let alone) multiple states' elections, if we just let quantitative ignorance prevail then... what? Why are we "invested people" if we've surrendered what we invest in?

Seems pretty basic to me.

All due respect Trump got 74 million+ legit votes with the most diverse coalition of any GOP candidate ever.

And the GOP/RNC sat back and allowed the Democrats to flood the swing states with mail in ballots and improperly change election laws. And when Trump still beat that "fortification" they allowed the Democrats to stop counting in swing states and take weeks to "count" ballots.

He doesn't need your, or ace's, or anyone else's advice on what he needs to talk about in 2024 to win. He needs us to elect some GOP allies in states and Congress who aren't bought and paid for by China to be his allies.

That is for a host of vitally important reasons, not least of which is to set the record straight and to do whatever we can to prevent it happening again.

That is the problem; to acknowledge the steal and push for election integrity while at the same time running on the disaster of the past 16 months.

This is exactly right. If you don't, then they will tell you with a straight face that the 2024 election was won by a democrat who got 500 million votes, because if the 2020 election was obviously fraudulent and nobody stopped them, then why not keep going?

Posted by: Colorado Alex in Exile

There is a theory among some people that the GOPe rigged the election against Donald Trump. In Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, where the Republicans actually controlled the state government, and Michigan where they held the legislature.
"Look! It's the Democrats! Or maybe, Joe just won fair and square"
McConnell and most of the big GOPe types wanted Trump out because he might start interfering with their grift and how they ran things.

Election laws changed illegally in many states

6 large cities stopped counting, kicked out officials, then restarted counting

Multiple videos of drop boxes being stuffed repeatedly by the same person

256 Moving on from election fraud is impossible. It’s like moving on from everything else the establishment wants us to just accept. It’s a losing tactic.

It’s the kind of thinking that helps conservatives continue losing. Trump isn’t running against Joe Biden or whoever the beltway crowd puts in his place. Trump is running against the criminals that put Biden over the top even though Biden lost.

Trump appears to recognize that his true opponent is not whoever runs against him, and that he can’t win if all he does is beat that person. Given 2020, this ought to be self evident. I’m not saying I see how he’s going to win. But moving on from the fraud that everyone saw and also saw the beltway crowd ignore, will not help him.

He’s made his political career out of saying, over and over, the obvious truths everyone in power wants to forget.

280 First, it looks like the Democrats used mail in ballots as a vector to pollute the votes cast pool in targeted areas; that is what they were up too with their war room during the campaign. Second, the Bush legal team in the 2000 Florida battle was experienced and had one battle to fight. Trump was unprepared, had a multiple front war, and was left in the wind by the RNC to battle against the Democrats, the media, the courts, and Conservative, Inc. Conclusion: It is over and by pounding the stolen election theme he is reenforcing the negative narrative attached to him and taking valuable attention away from making the case that the Democrats are in the middle of a blitzkrieg that is dismantling of the nation. My gut says by outlining specific election reforms and using his clout to push these initiatives at the state level he can implicitly discuss election corruption and be a reform hero going forward; failure to do this leaves him looking bitter and delusional. This tact gives him the upper hand when the biased media starts trying to pin the "Big Lie" on him by outlining election reform and then pivoting to his agenda. Trump was a good president, even great. He can do that again.

You either gather evidence it happened, and then use that evidence to push for reforms that reduce the severity of Democrat cheating in the future. Or get used to saying comrade and having your kids brainwashed into their cult. Because if we don't do something about Democrat fraud, it wont matter how good our candidates are or how much we convince voters. Every election will just add power to the Uniparty.

Similar to the "Presidential Debate Commission", which will always be nasty to Trump (or any Republican), the Propaganda Press sees their mission as "information shaping and control". Editing is how they achieve this mission.

DeSantis has no such alliances or interests, and he doesn't make these mistakes. The press doesn't try very hard or effectively to defeat him, because they are out-matched intellectually - oh, they hate him as much as Trump. But you get a gut instinct that he's gonna win. You don't get that feeling with Trump. You love Trump but you get the feeling that he's not gonna be able to defeat the enemy, it'll be a draw at best. But you get that feeling of total victory with DeSantis.

I agree. Fighting to win the last war is pointless. Trump has an agenda that is even more timely than it was in 2016 and grousing about 2020 takes that agenda off the table. If he is going to extract revenge, he has to have political power by winning the 2024 election. DeSantis so far appears to have much of the Trump doctrine in him but with the skill of knowing how to slide a knife in between the ribs of his opponents. DeSantis is one of the most formable politicians I have seen; he is unflappable, quick on his feet, like Reagan seems to have a core that is immutable, unwavering determination, and none of the baggage of a lifetime of being a celebrity figure (which is why exactly why President Trump is fantastic). All it took was Senile Joe signing some massive spending bills, and crippling our gas and oil industries, and alakazam!

Inflation and probable recession/depression that will damage the prospects of a whole up and coming generation for years, and will cause poverty, hunger, and humiliation among the retired. Not to mention the damage done to children by all the rampant Democrat Groomers.

Judges and Executive staff defying oaths and lawful orders...

After the ceremonial stuffing ballet boxes you have the Capital lockdown and gulags for those that dared defy it (in person or in spirit).

A rather successful coup.

352 Dems are spending tens, hundreds maybe if millions NOW to hire and train people on the ground, election judges all kinds of low level, but crucial positions. For 2024. Complaining at the 11th hour and running to the courts...not a good strategy.

353 you guys never stop with the explanations of how all his losing is really winning in disguise.

Do you not understand that EVEN HIS SUPPORTERS ARE TIRED OF THIS SCHTICK? How do you keep claiming that this is a winning schitick, when people are dropping off the trump train, not climbing on?

But you just keep going, no, this is working, this is working!

Some people were never comfortable with the political tactic, doesn't make it a bad one.

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." doesn't have to exclusively be used by the other side.

Trump picked up tons of voters in 2020, when again realistically it would be difficult to break 70m with most other candidates.

Exactly how obvious does it has to be for you consent there’s a problem?

Nothing else needs to be said and if you’re explaining any more than this then you are losing.

Eh, I'm not off the Trump Train, to the extent that I still like the guy.

I am off the GOP train, and he isn't, so it'll have to trundle off without me. But I'm also off the voting train, and the United States train.

No candidate who wants to work within this system is for me. I want a "topple the government forever" candidate.

But we're not there yet. Certainly Trump is not.

357 IT was already said upthread, but it is a great point: EVERY problem we are having now is the direct result of a STOLEN election.

Why do I want Trump back in the driver's seat? Because that in itself would be revenge and a kind of justice/bringing the left to heel. It would make leftist's heads explode 24/7. I know there are so-called-repubs who tremble at the thought...they are the same ones who just wanted President Trump to go away quietly because they couldn't take the non-stop assaults form the left anymore.

Remember the 'Make it stop!' repubs?

It will never stop with the left, unless we go scorched earth.
Keep DeSantis as a governor for a little while longer so he can secure Florida and maybe teach a few more governors to grow balls.
Get Trump back in the driver's seat for 2024.
DeSantis 2028 & 2032.

Trump never said "If I have a compliant Congress I'll build a wall." He said he'd build a wall. Part of the President's job is to manipulate or suck up to or threaten Congress to carry out his agenda. Trump was either unwilling or unable to do that.

Posted by: 29Victor at April 20, 2022 05:57 PM (BJKQV)

In every single instance where some one says that I see a single leftist come up and counter, "well none of that is true because all the court cases were thrown out". And everyone looks away. Why? Because they think you're wrong and the leftist is right? No because they know the left has effectively checked you because they are the ruling class and decides what's what. You being obviously right but still a loser just solidifies this fact.

You can't argue against the winning ideology. They will use their power to win everytime. You have to fight as a dissident.

367 FFS, it's Piers Morgan. What did Trump expect?

Love the guy but the stolen election schtick is a bad look, IMHO. Puts him in the same looney category as Hilary, The Russians Stole the Election, Clinton. Let it go, focus on the dramatic decline in every objective measure of political, economic, and foreign policy status of the USA under Biden. That will make him a shoe in for a second term.

But, he is who he is and has gotten where he is without my advice and counsel, so, there's that.

When VP Mike Pence tucked his tiny dick between his legs and refused to 'man up' and send two opposing sets of electoral voters back to the individual states, that's when the election was officially stolen and sanctified.

In my state that would have been one hell of a battle, front page news for weeks. Which it DAMNED WELL SHOULD HAVE BEEN. If you don't kick the guy back in the nuts who just kicked you in the nuts, he's only going to do it again.

369 >>>"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." doesn't have to exclusively be used by the other side.

Okay well will you agree that if trump is going to continue talking about this he shouldn't babble about it but should have crisp, well-considered answers?

Trump is not a details guy. The problem with your "Build the wall!" analogy is that is a simple slogan. Making the case that he was cheated in 2020 is a complicated case. If he wants to make the case, he has to have a series of bullet points, boom boom boom boom boom boom, and deliver them crisply.

He doesn't. He's always babbling. He has no discipline. Everything's off the cuff and just made up on the spot and that doesn't work with a lot of stuff and it doesn't work with a legal/constitutional case about the fraudulence of an election.

So if he wants to make the case, then he should MAKE IT, but he should for once in his life have some damned discipline and commit to an outline and some study and repetition.

I get you but the mainstream thinks that the Hillary/Russians Stole the Election thing is legit. "They" don't think she's loony at all. Election integrity is fine to cry about if you're a Clinton, Gore, Abrams, Tapper, etc. Is the problem talking about conspiracies, or talking about conspiracies as someone right of Pelosi?

Making the case that he was cheated in 2020 is a complicated case.

Only something like 30 rock-solid bullet points to remember.

I'd like to think that I have the ability to present all of them in a debate. But I know I'd fall flat after a couple. Someone would challenge me after the first few, and I'd never be able to present each and every one of them.

But those 30 rock-solid bullet points remain.
