So, I'm trying my hand at a dairy free/tree nut free pineapple upside down cake...I followed the box suggestions, just switching water, canned pineapple and maraschinos for what I mentioned...and going light on the brown sugar b/c well, I don't know if the vegan butter will caramelize anyway...if nothing else, I hope it's a moist, fruit cake even if the upside down part fails...

Sure, if you combine them. But the bathroom has the most fecal matter of any room in the house. Seen some disturbing studies (its everywhere in the house, in infinitesimal amounts) but the bathroom is poop king. Add in bacteria, and kitchen takes over.

Just as an example, flush your toilet with the lid down, then open it up. You'll almost always have water splashed onto the underside of the lid. Which means that some of that nasty shit-water gets atomized and floats around the bathroom.

My paternal grandfather immigrated to the USA in 1921; his ancestors were Scottish Highlanders who emigrated to the Broad Cove area on Cape Breton island around 1800.
Visited the province in 2018 during fall foliage and the Celtic Colours concert series. Quite beautiful, although I imagine the winters are brutal.

John Ford made an adaptation of it. The movie version is called The Fugitive, starring Henry Fonda. It's one of my favorite Ford movies. Highly, highly recommended.

I give him props in that, unlike a lot of literary authors, he wasn't afraid to tell a real story about a hired killer or with some real action and suspense. With respect, I don't think this is accurate. Breyer has announced he's retiring at the end of the current court's term, which will be in June or July of this year. Jackson was specifically nominated to replace Breyer, and so should not be sworn in and seated until the 2022-2023 court term begins in October 2022.
As with all things that occur in the corrupt hellhole that is Washington DC, I am wary of the DemonRats and Chief Justice Roberts and could see them conspiring to just have Jackson sworn in and seated before the end of this term, with no repercussions for that move.

Steinbeck's Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday would have been better for us than Grapes of Wrath (which I read on my own years later).

I didn't take AP English in high school, and thus came to Moby Dick and Huckleberry Finn on my own as an adult and quite enjoyed them (thought that jerk Tom Sawyer shows up in the latter and kinda messes with it).

IIRC, the number of Justices is set by statute -- "packing the Court" schemes rely on Congress changing the law to create new Justice seats on SCOTUS, which then would be filled.
So, I wouldn't worry too much about Jackson being seated on the Court as a 10th Justice before Breyer resigns.

Tentatively concur. Most kids aren't going to pick up on the craft and language. A few will, me for one. Hemingway's sparse prose really pops after reading convoluted and overly wordy novels.

With respect, I don't think this is accurate. Breyer has announced he's retiring at the end of the current court's term, which will be in June or July of this year. Jackson was specifically nominated to replace Breyer, and so should not be sworn in and seated until the 2022-2023 court term begins in October 2022.
As with all things that occur in the corrupt hellhole that is Washington DC, I am wary of the DemonRats and Chief Justice Roberts and could see them conspiring to just have Jackson sworn in and seated before the end of this term, with no repercussions for that move.
So. Hold on to your asses. Could get interesting.

To the best of my knowledge, no there is no such law. Even under FDR though, congress has been wary of letting someone attempt to fix the courts by packing it with their choices.

That's true of virtually any play...it's meant to be PERFORMED, not read.
Although there's a movement to "decanonize" a lot of Western literature, so students may or may not be exposed to Shakespeare. If they are, they get the CRT lecture to go along with it.

TS Elliot's plays read like poetry, so they can be read but yeah I agree. Without the performance plays fall flat. I have a very hard time reading them.

The oft-repeated notion that Julius was delivered by Caesarean section, thus giving the procedure its name, is not true. His mother lived for years after his birth. In Roman times a surgical intervention like that would have killed her. I guess the idea is that it was a "heroic" method to save the baby's life, and someone linked JC with it.

I wished I'd read that book in Jr High. My GPA would have soared. Most of the book is on how to read the big ones. Very simple, really. Big ones are text books which get fed to you one chapter at a time. Adler recommends reading the book from cover to cover with the expectation of only absorbing 20% of the material. But what that does is it gives you a full recon of the terrain and thus you know what's over the next hill and play of the land.
