Sad! Nancy Pelosi and a Bunch of Other Democrats Test Positive for Covid

Pelosi, despite being a withered husk of dried acid where nothing living can grow, has covid.

Drew Hammill
@Drew_Hammill

After testing negative this week, Speaker Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic. The Speaker is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is thankful for the robust protection the vaccine has provided. (1/2)

Well thank goodness she's vaccinated and fully boosted. We wouldn't want an unvaxed person spreading covid. Better than vaxed people do.

Also testing positive: corrupt Attorney General Merrick Garland, who NeverTrump wanted to sit on the Supreme Court, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

They both appeared at the "elite" Gridiron Dinner, where influence-peddlers mix with influence-buyers.

Boy I sure hope no one else was infected.

Garland was recently at a "news" conference with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.

Prayers.

Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced their positive diagnoses after having attended the elite Gridiron Club Dinner in Washington on Saturday. Other attendees, including Vice President Kamala Harris' communication director Jamal Simmons and Democratic Reps. Joaquin Castro and Adam Schiff and President Joe Biden's sister, Valerie Biden Owens, have also announced positive tests.

Oh no. Not Adam Schiff. That poor bug-eyed freak. What if covid catches his AIDS?!

Also, Kamala Harris was in contact with her communication director, who has covid.

And I sure hope Nancy didn't spread the lethal virus any further:

Jacqui Heinrich
@JacquiHeinrich
Pelosi was seen kissing President Biden on the cheek at Tuesday's Affordable Care Act remarks with fmr. President Obama. Pelosi then proceeded to grab Obama's hand and bring it to her mouth.

110 On the last thread, it was pointed out that while the Julio-Claudians were weird (end of the Roman Republic/start of the Empire), Julius himself was a pretty magnanimous guy. And also that he got assassinated, while Sulla and Marius, who also assumed dictatorship earlier, did not.

Sulla's technique would have been admired by the Clintons and the Bidens. He simply "proscribed" a great many of his opponents (had them killed while appropriating their property; it was part of how Crassus, of the later war against Spartacus fame, amassed his fortune). When Sulla gave up the dictatorship, he joked there was no one left in Rome for him to fear. I'm not sure about Marius, but I don't think he was much better.

Julius, on the other hand, pardoned and forgave a lot of his opponents. The spared ones resented him for treating them so lightly, and went ahead and plotted his death. So being magnanimous was ultimately his downfall.

They have to use that boilerplate statement ever since contracting the Coof became a moral issue ie you only get sick if you "don't follow the rules". So therefore if somebody gets sick, they did "something wrong", but being vaccinated and then saying that your symptoms would be worse if you didn't get the vax, absolves you of the "sin". Sure, if you combine them. But the bathroom has the most fecal matter of any room in the house. Seen some disturbing studies (its everywhere in the house, in infinitesimal amounts) but the bathroom is poop king. Add in bacteria, and kitchen takes over.

There's a story that when he arrived in Egypt, before meeting Cleopatra, he wept because Alexander had conquered much of the known world before age 33. In contrast he, Julius, was middle-aged (about 50 or so -- he died at 56 in 44 BC) and had not yet accomplished anything world-shaking. The big stuff, taking Gaul and Egypt and crossing the Rubicon to take over Rome, all happened in his 50s.

IIRC, the number of Justices is set by statute -- "packing the Court" schemes rely on Congress changing the law to create new Justice seats on SCOTUS, which then would be filled.

The oft-repeated notion that Julius was delivered by Caesarean section, thus giving the procedure its name, is not true. His mother lived for years after his birth. I wished I'd read that book in Jr High. My GPA would have soared. Most of the book is on how to read the big ones. Very simple, really. Big ones are text books which get fed to you one chapter at a time. Adler recommends reading the book from cover to cover with the expectation of only absorbing 20% of the material. But what that does is it gives you a full recon of the terrain and thus you know what's over the next hill and play of the land.

See if you can find his The Decline and Fall of Practically Everybody. It's very funny. When I read the part about Nero trying multiple times to kill his mother with tricky inventions like a ship *designed* to fall apart at sea, I thought Cuppy was making it up. But some Roman authors say that really happened.

I've never seen it, but it looks like a very imaginative staging. Like the Richard III film with Ian McKellen, with the backdrop being a Fascist, Hitler-sympathetic 1930s Britain.

470 The oft-repeated notion that Julius was delivered by Caesarean section, thus giving the procedure its name, is not true. His mother lived for years after his birth. In Roman times a surgical intervention like that would have killed her. I guess the idea is that it was a "heroic" method to save the baby's life, and someone linked JC with it.
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at April 07, 2022 03:56 PM (txdEq)

That's why it was remarkable...usually the mother died.

It's fairly well documented by contemporary sources.

In a clean, well-lighted place, Mickey Spillane, Ayn Rand and Ernest Hemingway sit drinking cocktails and talking about, among many things, Spillane’s 1951 novel One Lonely Night.

Ernest: Please don’t call me Ernie, I’ve asked you before."
