Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report - 3/23/22![]() The Stupid Party strikes again. Just one short month ago, Republican leaders and strategists were salivating over the prospect of a GOP blowout in the approaching midterms, as Joe Biden lurched from disaster to disaster. The debacle of our withdrawal from Afghanistan, raging inflation, an uncontrolled invasion at the southern border, crushing vaccine and mask mandates, and the utter failure to control [Chinese] COVID as promised all contributed to an apparent death spiral in the polls for Biden. With even mainstream media outlets acknowledging that the [so-called quote-unquote "president's"] polling numbers had rapidly cratered to unprecedented lows (with no bottom in sight) only one year into a new administration, it appeared that all Republicans needed to do to win big in November was to stay out of the way while the Democrats self-destructed. But one can never underestimate the insularity and obtuseness of the Washington GOP establishment, whose sensitivity is exclusively attuned to the interests of their donor class rather than to the interests of their voting base, or even the national interest. . . . . . The coordinated effort to downplay [Chinese] COVID emergency messaging (while quietly renewing the public health emergency and the related “emergency powers” on January 14) was concurrent with an orchestrated ratcheting up of rhetoric about the looming Russian threat to Ukraine. . . As her audience at the Munich Security Conference listened slack-jawed, the [so-called quote-unquote "vice president"] declared, “I appreciate and admire President Zelenskyy’s desire to join NATO.” With any chance at de-escalation scuttled, Putin invaded less than a week later. This appeared to be the desired outcome. Instead of seeing the trap and calling out Biden for failing to avert an entirely predictable military confrontation with a major nuclear power by means of wise diplomacy, Republicans seem determined to demonstrate even greater recklessness in escalating a conflict that could only have the severest of detrimental consequences for both their constituents and for the United States geo-strategically. . . . . . Already, Biden seems to have arrested his free fall in the polls, with relatively high marks on his handling of the Ukraine crisis (thanks largely to corporate media and GOP saber rattling that make him look prudent by contrast). And what, exactly, will Republicans say about the deteriorating, and perhaps grave, economic situation come the midterms in November? At this juncture, they can hardly pin the blame entirely on Biden for this dramatic shift in our nation’s economic fortunes. Try as they might to evade responsibility, the Biden economy has now inevitably become the Ukraine war economy. As the author, Brian Robertson, notes, even seemingly non-RINO pols like Josh Hawley and John Kennedy are, and it's extremely disappointing, not immune to saber-rattling. That said, the psy-op over the General Tso's Sickness is one thing, but the Ukraine invasion is something else, vis a vis American and more specifically non-leftist public opinion. That said, without going back to check previous links over the past week or so, I do clearly recall polling that shows a clear majority not wanting direct US involvement in this war. So, yet again, the GOPe ignores its constituents. Or, more accurately as Robertson states, it heeds their advice considering their constituency is the Chamber of Commerce and the corporate set. And speaking of the Chinese COVID, that's another area where the GOP has failed miserably over the past two years. Sorry to say, President Trump's response was perhaps his greatest mistake aside from surrounding himself with Deep State saboteurs, including of course Fauci and Birx. But as a whole, the GOP failed here as well. It never ceases to astonish me that there remain people, apparently millions upon millions of people, who believe that the salvation of the country can be had if American citizens simply vote Republicans into office. Frankly, it’s astonishing that, at this date, traditional Republican voters are still willing to vote Republican at all. That the Democrat Party and its apologists in the media, academia, the entertainment industry, and beyond are beneath contempt is not in question. But we know all of this. The GOP and the Big Conservative media that advances the interests of the former at every turn are quite possibly more dangerous in that they’ve succeeded in deluding their tens of millions of constituents into thinking that they exist to counter the dominant narrative when, in reality, they facilitate it. If the [Chinese] COVID era didn’t underscore this point in spades, nothing else will. Democrats, recognizing that the oppression to which they’ve subjected legions of human beings in the name of combatting “The Virus” is no longer good politics for them, would prefer to pretend as if the last two years didn’t happen. Nor should we be surprised that Republicans and their conservative media boosters appear all too ready to do the same, for Big Conservatism facilitated this oppression. . . . . . At the present moment, no medical emergency exists. Yet there IS an emergency. “The only emergency now is that you still set policies and hold huge budgets for propaganda and psychological engineering instead of directing them to strengthen the health care system.” It is a “lust for power, budgets and control” that has prolonged the “condition [of] two years now” that the Experts “have been cultivating[.]” Imagine what America (and, by extension, the world) could have looked like since early 2020 had Republicans and Big Conservative media voices summoned the fortitude and used their resources to articulate, resoundingly and repeatedly, the perfect clarity and moral certainty expressed by Professor Emud Qimron. The dystopia into which the planet had been transformed and the gratuitous suffering that billions were made to endure could have well been averted. . . . . . Will they redeem themselves now? After all, the verdict is in. The last two years have been an unmitigated disaster, both in reality and, critically, relative to the tenets of COVID Orthodoxy itself. The “two weeks” that the Experts told us they would need to “flatten the curve” and “save lives” has turned into two years—despite “social distancing,” mask mandates, the interning of society, and a mass vaccination campaign the likes of which the world had never known. When you add this essay to the infuriating and blockbuster news that the CDC lied through its teeth about the actual death toll FROM Chinese COVID - they admit to over-reporting deaths by 70,000 AND lying about it "for political reasons" - the absolute fecklessness, incompetence and perhaps collusion with the Democrats and the Deep State Junta by the GOP (Ron Johnson and Rand Paul so far being notable exceptions) is infuriating to say the least. On our latest podcast, dropping a bit later this morning, we discussed with our guest panelist, the eminent author, political essayist/commentator and good friend Harry Stein, the slam dunk winning issue of transgender insanity which really rolls into the bigger issue of social issues and the culture war in general. People on our side like Ron DeSantis and Marsha Blackburn (as evidenced by her incredulity at Judge Kentanji Jackson) get it. But then there was Kristi Noem, who shot her political aspirations in the face by flip-flopping on the issue earlier this year and now she's joined by this schmuck governor from Indiana in pissing off an otherwise fired-up electorate. Republican Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb vetoed Monday a bill banning transgender females from playing on female sports teams. The bill would have prevented transgender girls from participating on girls sports teams at public schools for grades K-12. Had it been signed into law, the bill also would have allowed for a civil action suit to be brought against a school or institution subject to it if such an entity violated its provisions, according to the text of the bill.Ah, yes. Indiana. The state that gave us Mike Pence who collapsed like a wet noodle when it came to defending RFRA, among other things IYKWIMAITYD. I don't know if there are enough votes to override the veto but to do this, in the face of freaks, frauds and perverts like "Lia" Thomas and "Rachel" Levine is inexcusable. It's an absolute winning issue, and as Harry Stein noted, it gives us a ray of hope for the future as the avenue of attack to begin the process of taking back the country. And it goes hand in hand with the mind-raping and grooming of our children at the hands of the unionized perverts of the NEA and AFT. The parent alerted school board members to explicit content from a book available to students called Homegoing and got cut off by one of the members. The woman begins by explaining that the process for removing a book is expensive and lengthy. The current wait time for a review extends to November of 2022, and until the inspection is complete, the book in question stays in the school. One member of a 20-person committee can object to the removal, allowing the content to remain permanently. A student on the appeals committee is objecting to removing Homegoing because it is on a reading list for an advanced placement (AP) class. AP is a national testing program, which should alert all concerned parents. The process allows a student body member, which the procedure aims to protect, to object to removing a book that includes explicit content. Apparently, the policymakers in Cherokee County never read Lord of the Flies. Or that the holes in the policy, which are akin to leaving a toddler in charge of the cookie jar, are intentionally meant to ensure questionable content remains in the school. To think that a child will help remove a book with content adults object to in an environment rife with peer pressure and curiosity is rank insanity. Then the parent reads an explicit passage from the book, at which point a board member, Patsy Jordan, cuts her off. The member lectured her that children could be watching the meeting, and the selection was inappropriate under those circumstances. Incredulous, the mom shot back, “Don’t you find the irony in that? You’re saying exactly what I’m telling you. You’re giving it to our children.” It seems the concept of irony is lost on the current Cherokee County School Board. What happened in Loudon County, VA that resulted in not just the election of Glenn Youngkin but a drubbing of Democrats down-ballot should be a giant wakeup call. With a party of frauds as exemplified by the likes of Eric Holcomb and Lindsay Graham, we're just pissing in the wind unless and until they and everyone like them are purged. But it shows also where the real battles are won and lost. It's in the trenches of the school and community boards. That is ultimately the road back. ++++ Of course. It's a combination of several things. First and foremost, they're on the same side as the Left in most things. Second, they know support for a Ukrainian intervention is low and thus might strategically think it's better to hang this on Biden. Some of them *are* that stupid. Third, and in contradiction to the second, Republicans seem to have a default position of "exciting new war" == "exciting new patriotism" and thus can ride to victory on an M1 tank to a soundtrack of screaming eagles flying overhead. It's a perfect opportunity to differentiate your Party ahead of an election... Your Party leadership could say "We have so many problems, thanks to Brandon. Problems like X, Y, & Z. Problems we'll face head on and solve before spending a penny of our diminishing treasure or shedding a drop of our precious blood in this perpetually squalid backwater. Lord knows we don't need another Brandon-shaped disaster like Afghanistan." Instead, the GOP stepped up and said "This is a great opportunity to show you, the American people, that when it comes to the important issues - like whether we should kill your sons, and hapless foreigners, and disgrace our country, so we politicians can get even more money - We Stand With It is to laugh. Any candidate that wants my support needs to be guns blazing against any of this crap. Pick an issue. Fighting the gay mafia. Fighting the tranny crap. Fighting the abject anti-white racism. The culture war is the only front right now, and the non-Left needs to get wise to it.
This. And some do seem to get it. I'm liking what Ron DeSantis has done in Florida, for instance. But the vast majority of politicians won't fight it because, for now, it's good for them. It gives them an issue to argue against and rally the troops around AND it makes people look for more governmental solutions. It's probably that last part that we need to deal with most. I don't actually care if the NCAA allows men to compete against women. If everyone goes in with their eyes open, then you made your choice. I do care that it's one more front on a war that is designed to steal my privacy and autonomy and make me little more than a slave to the State. The propaganda value is obvious: "I'm the big swinging dick in these parts and I can take your nice shit if you cross me and then rub everyone's face in it." This is why back in the 90s a lot of police departments put flashing lights and police decals on the supercars they seized. As to the second, they will be handed as plum benefits to preferred operators. The cop with the best ticket-writing value got the Ferrari that month. The Bureaucrat with the best connections will get to use the Yacht for his anniversary party or his daughter's birthday. I'm sure she's completely phoning it in. It literally makes no difference. Republicans still act like it's 1980 (or maybe 1957) and that "The President should get to select a Justice." They have either missed - or are completely okay with - the fact that this is the one place a President can seat someone with very long-term consequences - and so any further march to the Left MUST be opposed. Miss Lindsay exemplifies the main problem with modern American politics.
He's smart enough to know exactly what the voters of his state want, and that's by in large a strong conservative voting record especially now. He's not going to give them any of that nonsense though. Unless, it means nothing like the vote is already lost so he votes nay without effect. How Miss Lindsay and Mutt Rombley, et al must laugh at the voters. Promise them conservatism then rape them with progressivism/corruption constantly for the next six years. This isn't even over-promising and under-delivering. This is straight up lying to the voters. It makes it impossible to have a functioning system. Morning, all! OrangeEnt emailed to let me know many of you were asking about me on the ONT following the news of the tornado. No, I'm fine. The power never went out last night; it didn't even rain hard where I was. The wind kicked up, but that was all.
The areas that did get hit by the tornado, however, are almost directly across the river (north) from me. When I was small, my family shopped in those areas, our pediatrician was in Arabi, and my brother and I would play at the Chalmette National Battlefield a few miles down the road. Much of the Ninth Ward within the city proper has declined badly since then. Arabi and Chalmette, just downriver from the French Quarter, are in another parish (county) from the city, but very close by. So far the news is not great from there -- at least one person dead and lots of property damage. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at March 23, 2022 08:12 AM (txdEq) 121

Most likely quietly sold at a private one-person auction. It will end up being owned by some no-named shelf company that leases it out and uses the proceeds to underwrite other activities. Almost all of the super yachts are rented out. It just is highly impractical to live on one year round or to scrounge up a competent crew every few weeks out of the year. That is why you end up seeing mostly Western crews operating these Russian oligarch yachts. It also explains why Paul Allen kept his mega yacht busy with environmental and oceanographer cruises. Good morning everyone. Thank you J.J.
SAINT OF THE DAY St. Rafqa (Rebecca) (1832--1914) was born in Himlaya, a Maronite village in the Lebanese mountains. She was an only child, and her mother died when she was seven. After her father's remarriage there was much family discord as to whom Rafqa should marry. Not wanting to wed any of the men in question, she turned to God and entered religious life at the age of 21. She had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She served as a teacher for many years, but, after witnessing a massacre of Christians, she decided at the age of 39 to become a cloistered contemplative nun. Rafqa prayed earnestly that she might share in the sufferings of Christ. She became blind and paralyzed, and over the course of 30 years she struggled with deteriorating health and incredible pain. All of her sufferings she united to the sufferings of Christ without complaint. Under obedience to her superior she worked on an autobiography near the end of her life. She died at the age of 82, and her grave is credited with many miracles. St. Rafqa was canonized in 2001. She is the patron of sick people, bodily ills, and loss of parents. This. Also, I don't care that it would make it more difficult, I'm sure we could find a way around it: return the number of citizens in a Representatives district to the number the Constitution actually initially created. Representative should constantly be terrified of being voted out if they don't toe the line. A part-time congress would be even better: less time and opportunity for mischief. If there's any hope at all in the Culture War, it's that they tried to go too far too fast.
In all the stuff about Will "Lia" Thomas and his "win" in the NCAA Women's Swimming Finals, I've seen literally one comment unironically congratulating "her"[sic]. Everything else has been how it's disgusting, a travesty, etc.. Even from people who are pro-tranny, they are acknowledging the biological advantage the man has over women and saying he shouldn't be allowed to compete. It's been nigh-universal. It's a slam-dunk issue (which is why the GOPe will not touch it with a 10-foot pole). But it's also a rallying-point for grass-roots culture warriors, if we can take advantage of it. JJ thanks for the marijuana story. My daughter somehow got a medical marijuana card in her state to help treat her "anxiety." She vaped so much that it caused her to go into a deep psychosis, to the point where she was hospitalized for several weeks. It was a nightmare that one year later we still see the residual effects.
More studies are dribbling out about pot-induced psychosis. It happens far more often than people realize. But hey, let's legalize it for the sweet, sweet tax $$ and have a nation filled with psychotic, lazy, stoners. Posted by: Roxxee who's sick of this shit at March 23, 2022 08:19 AM (wMkYD) 150

He's been spending his terms flipping one military district after another into his control under the banner of his "anti-corruption" campaign (which targets only the corrupt who he doesn't own, of course), but he doesn't have all of them yet, especially in the larger and more corrupt eastern areas. He needs them to take Taiwan. Moreover, he's at the end of his term and the Party Congress occurs this autumn. Posted by: Warai-otoko at March 23, 2022 09:15 AM (/50xH) Is it morally right? Probably not. But - it's the iron law of nation-states. It's reality. There's absolutely no getting around it. From the Kellogg-Briand Pact to our braindead fellatrix VP puking up her recent nonsense, the West has spent more than a hundred years pretending that "international law" is something that exists. It's a fantasy. Laws are for within groups. Nobody outside the group cares. Even if two groups have virtually identical sets of laws for their own in-group conduct, they don't apply to their conduct toward one another, for one second longer than it's convenient. This goes for all groups in the history of groups. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at March 23, 2022 09:21 AM (7U3R4) 381

The property market where I am looks weird, and to some degree it's a national trend. Prices are up and inventory is down. Some of this is local effects (people moving here), but it's bigger than that.
It looks like it might be topping behavior in the market. Prices are too high, so there aren't enough buyers. So if you have a property to sell and some flexibility, you can opt to hold and sell later to maintain the price. As interest rates climb and incomes shrink (inflation), however, the two major supports for real estate prices are under pressure. I would expect high prices and low inventory until a few people blink and start accepting lower prices and posting price reductions on listings. Then a lot of inventory will flood in as people holding want to get everything they can before prices drop more. If that's what's going on, anyway. If you aren't really concerned with weight (e.g., bigger/heavier is okay), I am generally fond of the Toshiba Dynabook/Satellite line. Well built and reasonably priced. Dell has good build quality, too, in their larger machines. If you want an "ultrabook" kind of thing (thin, light, extremely portable, etc.), the gold standard in my opinion is the Dell XPS 13. If you're looking for cheap and decent but probably not as long-lived, the Wal-Mart Gateway laptops are actually pretty good value, just not high-end or particularly rugged. Trump's greatest mistake was not torpedoing the GOP in the immediate aftermath of the fraudulent election. He was uniquely positioned to do so due to his cult of personality, and the general loathing of the GOP. Instead, he remained loyal to the execrable party that stabbed him in the back repeatedly. The immorality of the Violence pales in comparison with the immorality of all the people who brought that state of affairs to be. I might say the most immoral in this fake fable is the cop. This isn't supposed to be some grand allegory for Russia, just a rebuke in general of the more fanciful versions of pacifism that say war and violence are absolutely immoral above all other possible immoralities. I think Trump did a much more effective thing in taking over the Republican party. There is zero doubt who is in charge of the party now, it's Trump. He has more money in his PAC than the RNC and DNC combined and he is slowly changing the makeup of the party.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) I'm old enough to remember the Carter inflation, where you dropped the price and dropped the price, but inflation was so high you couldn't make the mortgage payments. Trying to convince hubby to sell our place now and move out to a rural area. Bought 20 years ago at about $400, is now on Zillow worth 1.1 million -- for a 3 bedroom house built in 1965, is an insane price. Realtors keep cold calling us, though, wanting us to sell. If we wait until we are retired to move I'm worried it will drop to it's real value and we'll get stuck here. Posted by: MaureenTheTemp at March 23, 2022 09:34 AM (GZ/yK) 426
A minor quibble: The suppression of the laptop did not cost Trump the election.
---- Agree. Because: What do you suppose was the max number of invalid ballots they had at the ready to "fortify" the election? I say, they still had 100k minimum in reserve for each state except AZ-- that was the only one they appeared to be worried over. Basically, those people most likely not to vote for Biden-- if they'd known of the laptop-- already had voted for Biden. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at March 23, 2022 09:35 AM (VggVy) 427

If you want cheaper food, repealing RFS and bankrupting the majority of farmers in America is probably not the way to go.
If you want higher prices then bankrupting America's farmers and then having multinational globalist corporations to buy up the farmland is the way to go. These corporations bought up the meat processors and created a monopoly and meat prices are cheap, right? An article written by a programmer, who refers to corn as maize and frankenfood, and fertilizer as "high powered" and cites wikipedia and the petroleum lobby for facts probably isn't the best place to find information.
