tiktokinfluencers.jpg

Here's what that TikToker, @elliezeiler, does when she's not influpropagandizing about global oil prices. She does cute, sexy 10-second dances.

Literally, because people watch them. That's it.

It's advertising, using a built-in fan-base. "Influencer" is just a word that means "online streamer that people watch". People watch the streamer, say "That sweater looks nice," and buy one for themselves. With the old media collapsing, companies are trying to find new ways to advertise. That's all that's going on here.

I'm not so sure about that. I strongly suspect that Gen Z will end up sucking less than the Millennials. The Millennials are pretty uniformly communist drones. Gen Z is much more bifurcated between the communist drones and the ultra-based. When the war comes, I suspect that it will be largely fought by Gen Z and what comes out the other end is going to be not-America. What comes out the other end might be not-America even without the war. The anticommunist Gen Z is aggressive and fairly large, but not traditionally conservative. If they win, I suspect something closer to monarchy is going to be the result.

Gen Z is, at least, much more interesting than the Millennials. I have a hard time talking with them, though, because we speak different languages. I have a hard time talking with fellow Millennials because so many of them are drones, but at least we speak the same language.

183 I missed Ace's quick hits on congressional pay...

As some of you know, I believe they are grossly underpaid. Congressmen should get $500,000 base pay plus another $500,000 in bonus if all their bills are passed on time in within the budget. Senator pay should be $750,000 base with a $750,000 bonus for hitting the same goals. VP at $2,000,000 and President at $4,000,000.

By having ridiculously low pay like we have now, only the dirt poor or the independently wealthy can afford to take the jobs. Actual hard working Americans like doctors, lawyers, small business owners and corporate executives, who you would think possess the right amount of skill and experience you would want in government, can't take the pay cut and maintain a family, homes in their state and D.C. and all the other expenses accumulated in a lifetime of living. By being jealous and cheap in paying the people who control trillions in yearly expenditures, we're fucking ourselves out of the services of people who could make a difference.

185 Literally, because people watch them. That's it.

It's advertising, using a built-in fan-base. "Influencer" is just a word that means "online streamer that people watch". People watch the streamer, say "That sweater looks nice," and buy one for themselves. With the old media collapsing, companies are trying to find new ways to advertise. That's all that's going on here.

It doesn't matter what the public thinks, says, or wants anyway! That includes arguments about all of this stuff here, too. They, and the MSM, and even arguers here on the blog, act as if our approval matters, or affects their decision-making. It doesn't. ------------------------

Only because Gen Z has a bunch of people that have had to suffer the real consequences of commie rot. Millennials were primarily beneficiaries of a society that was still backed by old stupid outdated Judeo-Christian mores and the idea that Americans were a free people. So they freely chose the easy route - to be commie fuck assholes.

Gen Z looks around and only sees injustice. Not "systemic" injustice or other bullshit injustice but the real shit that affects one's everyday life. One's grades. One's room for advancement. One's ability to truly express what one thinks and feels.

Which side of the injustice they see themselves on decides their political outlook.

I don't know how most of the streaming sites work (including TikTok). But every time someone watches a video on YouTube, the person who posted that video gets a tiny bit of money. If you've got a lot of regular viewers, that money adds up.

However, you first have to get that audience. And then you need to maintain it. And a lot of streamers end up going broke trying to do one or the other.

The flaw, dear sir, is that people aren't sastisfied with 'just enough.' You could make it $2million across the board. It still wouldn't be enough.

And that's not even factoring in that people who are most attracted to wealth and power are willing to do more than those who aren't. They are willing to go to the ends of behavior and worse. Lust for power cannot be satisfied by a few million. It's about control of millions.

Power is humanity's death and we're going to be reminded just how costly that is.

In kind payment. A quarter million is a reasonable salary for a lawmaker. If maintaining two residences is tough, the answer is not more money. Pay them in kind, untaxed. Build a congressional apartment building. Even make the apartments pretty nice two-bedroom jobs and separate living and dining rooms so they have a home office and guest room. No more trouble maintaining two residences. Plus, it makes it harder to lie about why they miss votes.

Perhaps if Congress had less power (and money) at their disposal, fewer crooks would run. We have an arbor board in my town. There's always a full slate of quality candidates for it, yet it pays nothing. And we've never had a corruption scandal with the arbor board. BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A RIDICULOUSLY LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY AND POWER AT THEIR DISPOSAL, and what they do actually benefits the town.

We pay over $30,000 per year per student in Baltimore. I say give that to the parent and let them either pay someone to teach their kid or home school and keep the cash. As long as the kid passes a test each year to see if they're at grade level, I don't care who gets the money.

It's really amazing the bad luck these people have that they encounter "Karens" all of the time. There's definitely not any instigation and selective editing involved, I'm most certain.

They did - kind of - and lets stop bullshitting each other right there.

Because the Federalist Papers were a plea to make a Federal Government first and foremost. And Hamilton and Madison loved them some strong Federal Government. That was the point. They didn't trust the Republic - even as they made arguments for a Republic to Federalize - via the Federalist Papers.

Yet - other signers looked to the States, and even after reading Madison's ghost writing regarding "faction" - never imagined the States giving up their power.

The Anti-Federalists had it right. But they lost.

Adams, for his part, wanted a supreme federal government, possibly headed by a monarch. He even wanted sumptuary laws. There was a lot of give-and-take in those days.

And I won't quite say the anti-Federalists completely lost. They got the Bill of Rights out of the bargain.

Valid.

I don't have an outright objection to Marbury vs. Madison, but something crept in that allowed the Supreme Court to expand.

From my tracing of history, an expansion of the Federal Court allowed an expansion of the Federal Government as a whole. And as the judges in that court are appointed by members of the Federal Government their sympathies have tended to be with people wanting to exercise control at the Federal level.

The Incorporation Doctrine blew everything to shit--because Hanson, the 14th amendment author, was far not as level-headed as the founders.

I would argue that came with the equal protection clause of the 14th, that allowed them to pull the Bill of Rights through that little Fed buttonhole. A hundred years after it was written, in a clear piece of legal legerdemain that it's authors never intended.

Different time, different people, different motives.

Generally, no. Creating an audio record without the knowledge of the other party is a crime in some places (I believe California is one of them). But if the target knows you're recording, there's not much they can do so long as some other law isn't being broken.

Kids can sometimes be an exception to that.

I'm not so sure. I see much more damage with the court's tolerance for Congress to keep reinterpreting commerce powers.

I really think that if the government was so set on its being a government *emergency* in Wickard v. Filburn, that prudence would have mandated it not be applied as a precedent unless an emergency could be shown.

I mean the emergency powers of the government are theoretically unlimited, so they already, to one degree or another, have those.

Well, I still don't know how Congress' power to interdict states on the behalf of abridged "rights" became a province of the Court. That one *still* have to be explained to me.

However, much crap it might have stirred up to allow Congress to correct states on their recognition of rights (and it makes *some* sense), Congress is a representative body without a rachet that must be pushed ever forward.

And people who believe that we must continue construing in one direction can argue as they want, but the people can still get a different idea and decide that they outnumber the people making the argument that it's "backwards" and we can't do that.

Meanwhile, it just takes a handful of elites on a bench to decide No Soup for however many people want to revert.
It's funny but you think that a technological people could look at software and understand that sometimes reverting to what worked before you started messing around *saves* you. Reverting is *good*.

494 It's not that words are meaningless; we should write documents to be clear and achieve their aims. But there were big disagreements even among the founders that got papered over and began to bubble up after the great man's presidency ended. The founding generation had the greatest generation of American statesmen who ever existed. If they couldn't write a satisfactory document, then no one can. And I hardly think it's their fault for not anticipating that a large, influential segment of the public would eventually decide that the federal and state governments should be actively involved in transforming little boys into girls and making them ensure they get to use the showers of their choice, for example. We are in the grip of madness.

This "moral nation" argument wears on me. Were those Pennsylvania Farmers not moral ? I don't care about the answer. If they weren't moral two hundred years ago - I'm surely not moral enough now.

-----

The Whiskey Rebellion is a great example. They were the early Americans, sorting out the details. Not everyone was on board. And Washington reacted with extreme prejudice. But once the details were settled upon, (most) of those early Americans treated it as a blood-compact. And that compact failed once before, and arguably never recovered.

My argument isn't that the Constitution or the people who wrote it were perfect. Only that it was important, and it was a bargain, and that the swine of this 21st century America are wholly incapable of holding any of it together.

Well, it takes a certain gravity and concern for continuity that people only concerned about expressions in vogue can not bring to it.

Words are hard. And by changing the relationship wantonly, you only make it harder.

And it all requires GOOD WILL. People who spout "The Personal is Political", as far as I can see, are leveraging their petty gripes and disappointments and fomenting it into a needlessly *fundamental* disagreement as one would expect Foucaldian ruminations *would* do.

If words are all about the allocation of power, as the left has taken from Foucault, then somebody who speaks different from you is arguably in a power struggle with you and if you view that as dimly as you can, out to strip you of your power by their language.

Foucault just turned "Words are hard" into "Somebody's out ot get you".

Yes - but no. You don't give the piece of shit American a take home car and 24/7 police powers. You don't give him a Federal Paycheck to represent your State either.

You don't write songs about how great American piece of shit is to wear the uniform. Not if you want to stay free.

Not a good place to be...

From what I remember reading, if the Anti-federalists would have had their way, they would have been back at the convention drafting a Constitution in a year.

Almost everybody agreed that a Constitution needed to be drafted.
