The Morning Report - 3/10/22

rootin4putin.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and let me just say this right from the start. The death, maiming and suffering of Ukrainians as well as Russians is beyond tragic, mostly because it could have and should have been prevented were it not for the cluelessness and arrogance of Foggy Bottom, Democrats, the EU and NATO. That said, whatever Russia's legitimate territorial and security concerns are, and yes they do have them, waging aggressive warfare is inexcusable. Vladimir Putin for sure is a thug. He has engaged in political repression up to and including assassination of anyone who dares challenge his authority. Beyond the aforementioned legitimate claims over Ukraine, he never got over the dissolution of the old Soviet Union. Despite Clinton and Yeltsin yucking it up giving the illusion of some sort of new era of friendship, after nearly 80 years, Putin's Russia, along with Red China continue to be this nation's twin rivals and enemies on the geopolitical stage and their ultimate goal is our being neutralized if not completely subjugated.

Ironically, while everyone is dusting off Fallout Shelter signs and taking a second look at "duck and cover," the fear of an intentional nuke attack on US soil by these two players (an Islami-kaze attack with a dirty bomb or a suitcase nuke notwithstanding) is completely unwarranted. Take that video of Clinton and Yeltsin and substitute Putin and Xi because with Joey SoftServe and his puppet masters at the Klain Kalorama Komintern, we're committing national suicide all by ourselves.

The Biden [junta's] policy takes its cues not just from traditional sanctions, but from the virtue signaling of woke culture. The resulting collectivism makes America and Europe look like Russia without achieving anything more than the self-righteous solidarity of the smugly virtuous.

Russia, unlike that guy in the coffee shop, can't be canceled. And only an administration of idiot leftists would think that cultural bullying can somehow defeat military grade bullying. Tweets don't beat tanks and shooting is a lot more powerful than scolding. The pen may be mightier than the sword, but that came from an era when writers generally had something worth saying.

In a culture defined by culture wars, narrative looks like victory. But narratives rarely last more than a few years. We can see now that some of the most powerful cultural trends of the past few years, Black Lives Matter and [Chinese] COVID safetyism, lasted only a few years. Where in the past a successful cultural movement might have stuck around for a generation, it's now months.

When culture is worthless, nailing down real achievements means building things, earning money and winning wars. Culture and its narratives have ceased to be anything more than the momentary tactics and psychological spasms which leftist hegemony has reduced them to. . .

. . . Whatever we do, the war will play out with the inevitable logic of steel, oil, and firepower.

People will die, as they have before in Georgia and the Ukraine, and then there will be a new war on TV. Perhaps Xi will finally make his move to seize Taiwan, or maybe Iran will move to try and destroy Israel in time for Purim. Corporations will signal their virtue, city councils will pass resolutions, and Biden will stumble through another meaningless teleprompter speech.

It won't matter because we increasingly don't matter. Our enemies know it and so do our allies.

Beyond Daniel Greenfield's depressing observations in yet another excellent essay, the cultural rot is going hand in hand with the intentional dismantling of our economy. Dismantling really isn't the right word. It's the wanton demolition of our economy for the purposes of remaking society with a cadre of enlightened, superior minds running the show at the top and the rest of us filthy lumpenproles at the bottom. Of course, they have the best intentions and know what's best for us because they love humanity. The problem is they hate people.

The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, has temporarily severed Russian ties in the wake of Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

"We are not engaging with any sanctioned individual and have frozen all relations with Russian entities," WEF spokesperson Amanda Russo told Politico.

WEF also severed ties with a research center in Moscow and an advisory council headed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The organization added that it would still look to bridge ties between Russia and Ukraine. Per Politico:

The 800-pound gorilla of the elite global conference circuit has walked a tightrope for decades when it comes to Russia: basking in the Kremlin's attention while cringing over oligarch antics.

The Forum's founder, Klaus Schwab, prides himself on making his annual meeting in Davos open to all comers, including via a personal relationship with Putin dating back to the early 1990s.

Between 2007 and 2021, Putin and his predecessor, Dmitry Medvedev have addressed WEF five times, with Putin turning down an invitation to speak in January 2015 after the invasion of Crimea.

The isolation of Russia has been tightening since the country invaded Ukraine, from economic sanctions to corporations outright boycotting the country.

The World Economic Forum. Hmm, sounds familiar . . .

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is promoting a dystopian vision, and it is closer than you think.  By 2030, it says, "You will own nothing and you'll be happy."  Ownership and control will be vested in a handful of government leaders and a cabal of the wealthiest individuals in the world.  You will lose more than just your possessions.

Under the WEF's "Great Reset," individual freedom, personal responsibility, and opportunities for growth and self-fulfillment will be eroded away.  Democracy, the free market, and national sovereignty will be replaced by a new world order, stakeholder capitalism, and centralized control by some NGOs, globalist corporations, and the elite.  Klaus Schwab, the WEF's founder and executive chairman, gloated over the pandemic: to him, it was a "window of opportunity" for this reset.

Among the major components of the Great Reset, according to the WEF, are: a) working towards the creation of a stakeholder economy, as opposed to a shareholder economy; and b) leveraging investments to achieve social goals of equality and sustainability.  Translated into policy and action, the Great Reset is being ushered in directly through global public-private partnerships (GPPP) and environment, social justice, and good governance (ESG) investing.  Indirectly, modern monetary theory (MMT) is contributing to its ultimate goal of bringing about the economic ruin and chaos necessary for the advent of the New World Order.

I had this link yesterday but it is worthy of bookmarking because the WEF is the real enemy. Between the Chinese COVID lockdowns, mask and vaccine mandates and the pretext to destroy already anemic election integrity laws that allowed for the theft of the 2020 election, and now the insane yet intentional dismantling of our petrochemical and fossil fuel industries, America right now, as weak and prostrate as it has ever been, is in the crosshairs of people who have been plotting its destruction since the end of World War Two, if not before. Our superpower status as well as our culture, such as it was, which elevated the individual over the state and the Almighty over everything, was the only thing that stood in their way of absolute power.

Well, as it seems, us and Vladimir Putin and quite possibly Xi Jinping. Again, let me reiterate my disgust and revulsion of Putin for what he's doing. But that said, the WEF are just as evil and just as malevolent a force as Putin or Xi. If Klaus Schwab, Nazi collaborator George Soros, Hans-Georg Wyss et al are now going against Putin, you can bet your bottom dollar - which is now worth 60% less than it was before they tied a Great Seal bib around Biden's neck before installing him in the Oval Office high chair - then they must see him as some sort of obstacle to their plan for global dominance. It also raises the intriguing question of whether Xi is the power behind the WEF or perhaps another rival for absolute power.

In any case, with this bunch taking sides against Putin, and given what we know their aims are, history is sort of repeating in that this is an Operation Barbarossa moment. Stalin was an absolutely horrendous tyrant, but for a time he alone prevented Hitler from capturing Europe and perhaps winning the European war and then the Second World War once America was drawn in.

As the saying goes, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." In this case, for the time being. All of this, plus the constant and growing ever more nauseating pro Ukraine and Zelensky agitprop by enemies on the Left and the right has now led me to declare:

I'm Rootin' for Putin

If him winning some sort of victory, be it a TKO or a decision, prevents even for a single day the plans of the WEF to help the Deep State over here enslave us forever, then I can accept the consequences. Your mileage may vary. Until gas becomes $50 a gallon. Any day now. . .

As I said downstairs, after watching the documentary "Ukraine on Fire" my conclusion is that the region needs a marriage counselor.

It is fascinating to observe the response to totalitarian action that is hurting people is to pile on more bans, prohibitions, regulations to hurt the people.

Its like a private party where the world leaders sit around drinking and carousing, laughing it up while they play their venal game of World Conquest by seeing how they can increase the misery and pain on as many people. The more pain you inflict on innocent people, the better your score and standing. Extra points if you can twist things to benefit the worst rulers and governments while inflicting additional pain on your own chattel.

Posted by: rhennigantx at March 10, 2022 07:40 AM (yrol0)

35 Allow me to suggest an alternate explanation as to why the Camden Spaceport project got shot down - and it was an overwhelming vote, 72% to 28%; it was because the voters saw no reason they should pay for something that was only going to benefit some of the oligarchs. The entire idea of Government doing "economic development" projects has been so corrupt for so long that a strong majority (as in the Camden spaceport vote) are simply saying "No Mas".

Now it may have actually been a good project, I don't know - but this is what happens when government, through it's corruption, has forfeited all trust with the governed.

108 When culture is worthless, nailing down real achievements means building things, earning money and winning wars. Culture and its narratives have ceased to be anything more than the momentary tactics and psychological spasms which leftist hegemony has reduced them to
++++
I think this is quite backwards. When culture is worthless, real achievement does not exist at all. There is transient achievement, which is narrative capture. But you don't build anew in a worthless culture, you occupy that which was built before. You don't earn money in a worthless culture, because there is nothing new - you just try to *get* money that's already there. You don't fight your hardest for a worthless culture, and thus you don't win any wars.

A worthless culture is unworthy of investment and sacrifice. A worthless culture is indefensible because who wants to give his life to defend it if it has no value? Things like buildings, art, investment, wealth and defense are in combination and over time indicators of the culture's value. They aren't the fallback position when the culture is hollowed out and worthless, they're the result of a culture that is not.

125 It also raises the intriguing question of whether Xi is the power behind the WEF or perhaps another rival for absolute power.
++++
I kind of doubt it. I do suspect that Xi sees the WEF types as useful idiots who can help him with his aims, though. Xi wants an ascendant Chinese empire as the global hegemon - that is, as the superpower. The WEF vision is that there are no superpowers and six approximately co-equal regional powers. China would certainly be one of them, but that won't be enough for Xi. Hell, China already *is* the power in East Asia for most intents and purposes.

But such a scheme would be good long-term, because essentially what the WEF wants is a cartelized world with six major players who coordinate or compete according to plan. It will work as well as any other cartel, which is not very well and not for very long. Cartel members cheat when one player thinks it can get the upper hand and then the cartel fails. Blowing up the Postwar order and cartelizing it would be a major investment opportunity for Xi, since he can always cheat first.

147 I think this is quite backwards.

As with most things, I think it is a power of and situation. Yes, Buffet makes bank on oil trains (and optimizing in-country subsidies, which is why many of his routes cross the border several times) and so that's a major factor. The greenies get to ride along for free - hobos on Buffet's trains - and so it helps them, too. The virtue-signalers in Washington get to never mention it and still get paid after cutting off economic engines. Etc.

You've got to give them credit. They'd destroyed people's faith in everything. I didn't think they could pull off something worldwide. They not only did, but they were just getting started. With actions like the US pushing (smart) Poland to set off WWIII - and them thank goodness turning it back on the US - and our bioweapons labs in Ukraine, all while the left demands we wave the Ukranian flag while burning our own, and calling people Putin lovers who don't want to send their kids off to die for Hunter Biden's Burisma consulting gig, they've sowed seeds of doubt in the America right or wrong bunch about our country's role in the world and what has been happening. We won't agree with the left in the details, but the end goal is the same.

We're now honestly talking about true famine and a genuine world war, one that we'll be lucky to stay out and if we do it will be entirely because of OTHER countries like Poland's actions, and it's all because of a virus that the United States was heavily involved in developing if not also releasing and spreading (remember Pelosi's "hug a chinese person"?). We also used to teach people that others are not responsible for their success or failures, that they are responsible for their own choices and actions, and that comparing yourself to others was an incredibly bad idea - either because it would inflate your ego ("look at all the things I have that he doesn't") or because it would make you envious ("why does he have all those cool things and I don't?").

Sure. Everyone plays King of the Hill and always has. It just takes different forms. Xi's version is traditional: him as emperor. The WEF's version is more modern: they're the board of directors that controls the power and economic cartel.

The two are incompatible, which is why having traditional players in the WEF is such a dangerous move for the WEF.

In reality, gas prices will skyrocket until they hit a point where consumers stop buying it. The fuel will not be replaced at lower costs. More EV's will be manufactured.

This is why the "economic conservative, social liberal" movement failed so utterly. The idea was to surrender on every social issue, as long as they could make a few bucks with tax cuts. But once you lose the culture, you've lost everything, and the few extra dollars you managed to put in your pockets are worthless.

Our biggest problem now is not economic, not even electoral; we have to fight to retake and reform the culture. No, in normal times that would be impossible; but these are not normal times at all.

They rode mighty long coattails and I think you give them too much credit. They didn't plan for a collapse in trust, and the collapse in trust makes their job harder. They love that America is on the ropes and might fail, but the level of trust everywhere is so bad that it makes their job harder. They're trying to keep the plates spinning and that job is getting harder as inertia increases. The active distrust of the elite is not an American phenomenon, it's a global phenomenon. America becoming a minor regional force is in their plan, but nobody trusting them *at all,* anywhere in the world, is not.

All they have managed to do is drive Russia, China, India, and Pakistan into an alliance that is able to ignore the sanctions. Because Russia controls 25% of the world's critical resources used to make the west's "toys", and China and India control the labor and manufacturing. (1)

216 Anyone who believes most wars are started intentionally, or that the war actually fought is the war everyone expected can take a dunce cap and stand in the corner.

Whether Putin "wants" a nuclear war is irrelevant to the majority of actual risk of such a conflict breaking out, that has to do with lots of unknowable unknowns, and if-x-then-what-happens scenarios.

The moron Senators calling for "getting rid of" Putin, or those pushing the envelope on participation of NATO states in all this are playing with fire. I entirely agree that the biggest threat to the freedoms of Americans is the American government. But that said, in the short term, one hopes that sane and smart people are managing the risks of escalation and working hard to de escalate, give off ramps and to deconflict NATO and Russkie forces. And that said, I have almost no confidence in the competence of our ruling political and military elites.

"Who better to close with than Nikole Hannah-Jones, the New York Times propagandist who created the perfidious 1619 Project, and whose concern about Ukrainians, unsurprisingly, isn't that they're upstaging Muslims but, rather, upstaging blacks? In a couple of February 27 tweets, she charged that if Western media have been covering Ukraine so much, it's because of "[white] supremacy."
This is why the left has not been pushing for Ukrainian refugees. They are also afraid that they'll end up voting Republican since most Ukrainians tend to be conservative.

Metabiota was founded by a guy named Nathan Wolfe and some of the early venture money for the company came from Google and an investment firm called Rosemont Seneca Technology Partners run by Hunter Biden and John Kerry's stepson.

231 >Stalin was an absolutely horrendous tyrant, but for a time he alone prevented Hitler from capturing Europe

Other way around. Hitler's invasion pre-empted Stalin's by about two weeks. That's why the Germans were initially so successful; the Russians had just finished dismantling all their defenses and moved all their armies into positions to launch a broad offensive. The Red Army did eventually sweep westward but it was 3 years later, by which point Americans were in Europe and the grand plan to take over everything was no longer workable. Hitler saved Europe from total domination by the Soviets, and likely saved the world from going full communist.

No. I'm saying what we are seeing and hearing on the news is only the surface, there is a ton that is and has been going on behind the scenes that we aren't supposed to know.

Do you remember how hard the left, the media and social media worked to keep the truth from us about all facets of the China virus? They still are. Same with Jan 6th. Same with the truckers in Canada.

There is way more going on in Ukraine than we are being told just like there was in China. Putin's response is way out of proportion to his dispute with NATO. And he is well aware of what our CIA has been doing for years around the world and also well aware of our interest in bio weapons including a potential lab sitting on his border.

Just 2 months ago Putin helped stopped a western led color revolution in Kazakhstan. Do you know what else was in Kazakhstan? A US funded bio lab.

That may explain why the military of the former United States is worthless and can't win anything.

What is the motivation for a soldier other than simple camaraderie or adrenalin high?

Culture is a huge thing. I'm trying to figure out why peasant southerners would fight and die for the Plantation owners during the Civil War. It would be like someone throwing a rifle in my hands, pointing to Hamburger Hill and telling me that I need to win that at any cost so that Jeff Bezos can maintain his comfortable lifestyle.

The Democrat Party Military needs an enemy, something to focus on. Unfortunately the Democrat Party Military wavers between the imaginary Boogy Men of White Supremacy and Climate Change, which are proxies for Western Culture and achievement.

What if Putin does?

He specifically said after putting down the coup attempt in Kazakhstan that he would not allow anymore color revolutions, he used that term, in former Soviet republics. And he made a big deal of the bio lab.

Try putting yourself in his position. He is a Russia First kind of guy and NATO and the west have systematically lied to him for decades. Not that he doesn't lie but from his position that is irrelevant. He is relatively weak compared to the west and probably feels threatened. His spokespeople are the reason that the bio labs have become public conversation. He cares.

The west did nothing to defuse the building pressure and in fact stoked it by constantly inferring that NATO was open to Ukraine. All of this had to have gone into his thinking and feeling of paranoia.

365 Amazon made a smart move yesterday.

They're going to have a 20 for 1 stock split.

Yeah, yeah, I know. It doesn't make the stock more valuable. But, what it does do is make their stock easy to buy for anyone who wishes and that will cause the overall price to rise.

Amazon's stock has stagnated under Bidenomics as people need to spend more money on energy and food. So, this is a pretty good solution for them.

Google is doing the same thing.

Culture is a huge thing. I'm trying to figure out why peasant southerners would fight and die for the Plantation owners during the Civil War. If they had seen the ultimate results perhaps many would not. But mid-war there seems to be a lot of ambiguous and scary prospects.

Take Ukraine for instance. There's a certain amount of exaggeration being used to encourage Ukrainians to resist the invasion in a very extreme fashion that they might not if the terms were discussed more openly.

437 Jackson State head football coach Deion Sanders missed multiple games last season for what was until now, an undisclosed health issue. On Tuesday, the issue came to light: two toes from his left foot had been amputated.

Sanders' big toe and second toe were lost as a result of blood clots that followed a previous operation for a dislocated toe and nerve issue earlier in the fall. And it could've been worse. Doctors originally feared they'd need to amputate Prime Time's left leg.

Sickening, but also typical. On the plus side, each time they turn the crank they make more people hate them and fewer people trust them. Congress is an illegitimate joke at this point and I suspect most people know that. $5 billion to secure our border was a bridge too far but three times that for Ukraine - who will likely lose the war before one dime of it gets there - is just fine.

Follow the logical consequences - if what you say is true (I believe it is) then it is perfectly logical to go take on as much dollar denominated debt as you can right now, if interest rates are fixed and low; because you will be paying it back with dollars that are only worth half of what they are worth today. That, in a nutshell, is why housing prices are soaring.

It is, and this is how it works for things like governments. For individuals, however, it is not that simple because an individual's cashflow position is more binary and less consistent. "Inflation is soaring so I'm going to go load up on debt and get everything I want because inflation-adjusted depreciation is going to be way less than interest and so I come out significantly ahead" works only so long as you have an income and that income keeps pace or exceeds inflation. Governments have a different set of conditions (namely tax receipts) that are much more stable and never go to zero. The same cannot be said of your income.

That's the flip side of chasing the inflation dragon for working people.

470 The annual inflation number you are seeing is the sum of the last twelve months. The more recent months are rising faster than the earlier months. As those earlier months disappear from the sum, replaced by the newer months, the "inflation rate" will increase. It is a certainty, based on current numbers (.8 last month).

What is really bad is raw material costs will filter through the reports for many months to come. The dollar is rapidly depreciating, and it is not alone. Western currencies generally are depreciating just as fast.

Deese argued on CNBCs Squawk on the Street that no amount of domestic production we can do to reduce global prices. He suggested the only way to fix prices would be shifting to cleaner sources of energy.

I don't give two shits about reducing global prices; I only care about MY prices. The prices here in what used to be the United States of America.

497 Looks as if Russia has a highly over rated military in great need of some competent logistics planners.

I believe they have the sheer firepower to ultimately prevail, but if this were against an opponent like us, they'd be in deep shit.

498 "Deleted Web Pages Show Obama Led an Effort To Build a Ukraine-Based BioLab Handling "Especially Dangerous Pathogens"

Obama couldn't lead a horse to water if he was standing knee deep in the river current.

He was the 'cool, no drama' empty suit placeholder, putting his feet up on the Oval Office desk for photo ops with black rappers and black sports millionaires and anti-Semitic foreign dictators. Oh, and true patriot Louis Farakhan.

The left needed to hide their corrupt schemes behind a sparkly smile, a pant's crease, expensive sunglasses and race-enabled immunity from responsibility and accountability.

Barry now puts his feet up in any one of 4 mansions in 4 states; paid mostly (wink) from the supposed sales of his (ghostwritten by bomber Bill Ayers) books and a "shovel ready" TV show.

499 #476 i could not agree more! I know you all have gone on to next thread, but this article made me crazy! Trump is the best president in my lifetime. I will support him again.

I don't trust anyone who buries all their shots (which are all essentially lefty lies/narrative) that deep in an article. Enemy actor as far as I'm concerned.

501 Ah, I see we're repeating the "Doocey humiliates Psaki" lie here too.

No, he didn't. The only one "humiliated" should be Doocey who had no answer for Psaki's follow up - "WHAT RED TAPE???"

Err, uh, uh, IDK ???

Says it better than I could. I've been thinking that the WEF is directly CCP controlled or at the very least, manipulated by the CCP. Useful idiots and all that.

When you start looking at the state of things and China just seems to keep getting the better end of the stick... but what do I know about world affairs? Absolutely nothing. The only thing I know is that here at home, we've been enslaved by an unelected ruling class that expects us to just shut up and single-file ourselves into extinction as a country.

503 I've got a bit of experience with atmospheric temperature measurements. I was project manager for corrosion measurement under contract to the USAF. I put corrosion/ atmospheric measuring stations all over the world. In a fit of stupidity, I was going to install one at RAF Mildenhall. Trying to save the government money, i decoded tp split the corrosion from the atmosphere. Ya see, Mildenhall is just few miles up the road from UEA and Norwich. I figured that we could use their data snd just watch airplanes materials corrode. Nope! My coworker decided to inquire of the college professors at UEA. He decided their data was useless. They didn't calibrate correctly and they threw out data they didn't like. Turns out they, as typical of college professors, were just looking for financial support.
When we got toward the end of the program, I was invited to describe the program to the Royal Society. I got a telephone call from the Admiral on our program telling me that they did not want us to publish any "bad" truths about what was going on in East Anglia and we might accidentally publish some "secret" info about the 50 yr old C/KC135. The Us foggy bottom killed it.

504 When any politician any where, any time uses the phrase temporarily suspend you can make bank on it being permanent, extend to much more than suspension and be imitated globally. Ex Covid dementia. NOTE This does not apply to reducing taxes or increasing citizens rights.
