Hello dear Horde. I got to spend an hour and a half with Jesse today; first time I'd seen him in person for 10 days. I talked to him a lot about our travels last year including our road trip to Texas for the MoMe. I played him our favorite John Prine song. Next time I will play some Jerry Garcia or Frank Zappa. He still can't respond but at least I can see him and hold his hand. Tomorrow he will be getting a trach and PEG. This should help him be able to wean off sedation so we can begin to get a better idea of the stroke effects. I pray for full healing every day but need to be prepared for a long hard road ahead. I remain very thankful for your support and prayers, and especially WDS and her hubs' kindness.

Canada will get what it voted for, good and hard.
C.S. Lewis Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals. Just got in from a school board meeting. Apparently TRANNY RIGHTS!!! is the new thing, and a half dozen kids got up to speak out against hate and talk about how awesome trannies are, and then the parents got up and did the same thing and criticized other parents for not wanting their mentally ill sons to use the restroom with their daughters. An older gentleman walked up to the microphone and said: "School board, ladies and gentlemen of the audience, county employees. The group that got literally everything wrong regarding the pandemic over the last two years would like to now explain human sexuality in teenagers to you." 90% of the crowd burst out laughing. 435 So what you're saying is that the 'red wave' in November won't do a thing, and that voting is a joke?
Posted by: SMH at God's grace at February 21, 2022 08:54 PM (PuU/d) Voting some of our people in is incredibly important, but we have to understand that it is a DEFENSIVE tactic, not an offensive one. You vote people in so that you have at least some stake in the power structure, so that the Government doesn't feel so emboldened to do what was just done to the Truckers in Canada, who have *no* official supporters at all. (their "conservative" party has been a gutless, toothless joke for years) You elect officials to *stop* your enemies from making their worst ideas reality (like doing away with honest voting forever) Gains can only be made by retaking pieces of the culture, step by step, and that will take a lot of hard work on the ground, by us. Russian navy ships in Sea of Azov (not common, at least this number), Rosgvardia (Russia's national guard equivalent, mixed/low capabilities) apparently increasing numbers in Belarus, Russian units deployed near Ukraine remaining on alert status and not moving to administrative status or redeploying away from border region.
Kremlin surely gamed out most of this in detail, but still not sure how Russia gets what it wants (big multi-lateral deal on Ukraine military future). Formalizing situation in D and L does not move that ball down the field, most likely (these areas have been de facto autonomous and under Russian control for years). Putin's tone and language in his address were pretty tough, but it was all focused on D and L and ongoing unpleasantnesses there. thanks for your updates on this ... more detail always helps me form my understanding. Those two regions, kinda at war with Ukraine already (?), is Russia more interested in the other parts of Ukraine (is that where the main military power lies)? 517 Tom Servo, what you're talking about is Gramscian March through the institutions by the Right.
That would require the Left to permit us to infiltrate and subvert all their institutions, like we did with them. The Gramscian strategy requires the exploitation of the permissive nature of free societies. They will not be permissive. This situation will call for a different, much more direct and confrontational approach. A Solidarity type street movement, at the barest minimum. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at February 21, 2022 09:22 PM (SKVme) There is a faster way, and I think it is going to open up for us to exploit. This is when a major societal crisis causes all institutions to begin to collapse, and when people across the spectrum start to lose faith in the system, and everything starts to go very badly; what the ancient Chinese referred to as "Losing the Mandate of Heaven". At the rare times this happens, Everything is up for Grabs. Last time that happened here was in the 1930's; I think such a time may begin again by the end of this year. A society never goes back to what it was before such a time happens; the question is who controls the rebuilding. Posted by: Tom Servo at February 21, 2022 09:29 PM (evAgx) 557

illiniwek, was just saying that this move, while technically an assertive one, essentially formalizes a de facto situation in D and L, and could be seen also as "punishing" Kiev for not upholding its obligations about those situations under previous agreements (Minsk and Normandy). Unless it provides leverage on the macro question - Ukraine's military future - it doesn't contribute there, and that's the big one.
Could be wrong, as often, but don't see any additional territorial desires in Ukraine for Moscow. They've taken and secured the strategic prize - Crimea - already. No particular reason to have Lviv or Odessa etc. Plus costs/problems from actually trying to absorb the whole country would be very high. Temporary seizure of territory as leverage for the big question possible. Rosgvardia units mostly seen as suitable for occupation duty, so maybe Moscow grabs some areas as trading fodder. We can do a lot of reforms at the state level, and the prospects of picking up more legislatures/governorships as well as expanding control in states we already control, will be good this upcoming November but with the feds, we simply have to stall for time, which the GOPe can do with some prodding, in addition to primarying the GOPe fed politicians who resist this effort too much. But they did start teaching about the joys of socialism, the evils of racist America and other leftist crap a long time ago. It's no big shock that we saw all this happening in colleges and universities during Obama and even before when the need for safe spaces and the canceling of conservatives. It's been a long march and they predictably targeted the schools just like they told us they would. Ask Bill Ayers and Obama's other friends from the neighborhood. And then we get generations of kids graduating from schools with far left views and think it's normal when it's not. It's being taught and has been for a long time. One of the few silver linings of the lockdowns is that parents got a real clear view of what was really going on in the schools thanks to distance learning crap. We all know this. Russia has spent several hundred years doing nothing but invading Ukraine abd slaughtering its people by the tens of millions. == My point is that you are wrong. Literally Hitler is comical, if not tiresome. Putin is not after world domination or ethnic cleansing. He can't afford a soviet Union march to hegemony. As I said in an earlier thread... Putin is going to annex the Donbass. It provides a buffer for his military aspirations in the Crimea. Specifically the so-called warm water port at Sevastopol, home of the Black Sea Fleet. He cannot have an unreliable frontier mere kilometers from that.
Plus the Donbass is populated by Russians... not Ukrainians as they self identify. It's like having all of southern Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California suddenly say they're part of Mexico.
