Take a look at his polling for a Biden/Trump rematch (yes, I know the font is pretty small, you will need to zoom in). In this poll he polled for both race and education background to get a sense of the sentiments for the white and non-white working class.
Among whites with a high school education or less, Trump leads Biden 60.7% to 22.1%. That is almost a 39 point advantage. While not as large, Trump holds a 21 point edge with whites that have some college education, but don't have a bachelor's degree. Overall, combining the samples, white support for Trump among the working class is 54.0% to Biden's 25.8%, a 28 point advantage.
The reason this is important is when you look at the swing states that determine the results of the general election. Below is a table I produced that looks at the swing states we always talk about. I also included some states like California and Massachusetts that are not competitive for comparison. What stands out is that the population of these states that is white and does not have a college degree is significant in most of the swing states.
Compare Wisconsin to Massachusetts. 59% of the population is white without a 4 year degree, compared to 43%. This is a rough measure of the working class in each state, and Wisconsin has about 16% more white working class than Massachusetts.
This is clearly not the entire picture, since both North Carolina and Georgia have high percentages of non-white voters. In those states cultural affinity for Trump and Republicans play a stronger role, with voters of higher education levels and more minority voters willing to vote for Trump and Republicans. But it is easy to see why Atlanta has such an outsized influence on Georgia voting.
Overall, this paints a pretty grim picture for the Democrat prospects in 2024. They are going to need a lot more cheating for Biden to beat Trump, or find a way to get Biden off the ticket and run someone who will appeal to the white working class.

While that presupposes that Trump will run again, the overall point remains that the Democrats are increasingly toxic to the working class in general and the white working class in particular. This is not a new problem, and it's only getting dramatically worse with each passing day.
In the initial Dem primary debates in 2020, they had a total of *two* candidates out of the ten thousand or so people who made it into the debate series that I remember as standing out from the others in terms of the old-school, blue collar, "union Democrat" kind of message. One was John Hickenlooper who was downright sane as compared to most of the rest of the field, and the other was a charisma-free middle aged guy from Ohio who's name I don't remember but ran the more or less normal "champion of the working people" Democrat line.
That was it. In '24, I'd be shocked if they can even find two.

I was thinking about Superman Returns. So many missteps in that movie (ex. 'Truth, Justice- all that stuff.') However, one of the worst was choosing a Lois who was cold, bitchy and unrelatable. I honestly kind of felt the same as Margot Kidder. They have a problem portraying Lois as she should be: prickly, determined, but sympathetic and relatable. I think most actors (and most people, for that matter) fall into a comfortable caricature of themselves as they get older, and Nicholson is that, but Streep was overly showy as an actress even when young.

The Dem problem is that the working class participate at lower rates in caucuses and primaries. The Iowa and NH Dems who winnow the field are ridiculously left wing. Any candidate who might appeal to the working class generally gets drummed out early.
Ironically, Bill Clinton might have survived those states because everyone was so focused on his sex scandals at the time (and local candidates like Harkin and Tsongas winning) that the media turned his early beatings in those states into some kind of victories, and then when the working class states came along, he started winning.

There's an easy fix for this - DON'T buy pre-cut pre-packaged produce. It's bad enough that the third world types we have pick it can't be bothered to walk across the field to the Mexican Space Shuttles - which are really only trucked to the locations to make the normies feel better as they drive by. About 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch. They're super lean, which my wife likes. Point taken though. I can imagine how leaving them too long might turn them mealy or liver textured, which would be awful. Depends on state law. The Scotus Alabama case had to do with dilution of minority votes and the VRA. Republicans are not protected by that. The problem though with trying to maximize districts for the Dems comes from they have to lower Dem percentages in other districts to accomplish that. In a wave election, that means more seats are vulnerable while GOP seats are safe. The old formula is stack, crack, and pack. Pack means a safe dist for the opposition. Crack means you split a GOP district but add GOP voters to two or more Dem districts. Stack is you make your Dem districts safer but too many stacks, you bleed voters from other districts making them vulnerable during wave elections.

Actually, there was some interesting anomalies in McConnell's reelection that favored him. One of the more troubling views of Republican silence on election fraud is that GOP is doing it too but mainly in primaries. There has to be a reason that most GOP Sec. of States do not purge the voting rolls of dead, non-existent, and moved individuals on a regular basis. That is why you saw early nights in Ohio and FL is that they did that prior to 2020 election.

High school teacher told us once that his summer job was unloading tomatos off trucks into a giant ketchup making plant.
So don't read the rest if you like ketchup. So there were a lot of illegals working there. They had big mixing tubs, huge vats that cooked and stirred the tomatos all at once. It was a big plant with catwalks overhead. More than once as a joke, he would see guys on the cat walk relieving themselves into the tomatos. So i gave up ketchup in high school.

A retired luge slider was interviewed today and she sat in one. No neck support or anything keeping you in the thing. Little paddle things come up between their calves and ankles on the insides of their legs they steer with. Crazy as shit. I wonder how the sport started.

It is sooo Boulder. eco-cycle has "multi-stream" recycling bins and then sorts the paper from the glass and cans at their site cuz liberals loves them the IDEA of recycling but they are too lazy to actually pay attention, or walk a few extra feet to sort out recycle items. Even with the multi-stream I suspect they have to just dump a bunch in a landfill. I often saw garbage or compost items in the recycle bin in the before times when I worked onsite.
Boulder probably also had the highest concentrations of "Live simply so others can simply live" bumper stickers on newish luxury model vehicles in the world.

I played a brass instrument in a HS band. If I try to distinguish between quality of the drumming of Neil Peart and Keith Moon, I can't. They both sound technically great to me, but I couldn't tell you much about what they're doing or when they're slipping a bit.

The problem with Dark Matter is that it is just words - nobody is trying to fit it into any theory of reality. If DM makes the numbers work, there's dark matter! If not, lets forget about this result and move on.
Quantum Mechanics came from similar limits in the theory, but in that case theoreticians were thinking about the problem. These days nobody seems to be thinking about coming up with a theory

There was some hilariously bad movie, probably on Syfy, where the plot involved "dark matter" somehow leaking into the solar system and... something bad. At one point, one of the "noble scientist" characters is looking through a telescope and says very dramatically to another noble scientist "I've never seen so much dark matter."

The sad thing: There is a LOT of good work someone could do in the Silmarillion timeline- if they were competant. Mhaedros, Fingolfin, Feanor, Turin, Hurin, the Fall of Gondolin. Nirnaeth Ardenoriad(sp?) And yes, even Beren and Luthien. So many good scenes and tales could be written here.

They vary a lot. Fellowship of the Rings got nearly everything right. Two Towers pulled the book out, raped a warthog up the pooper with it, then burned it on Tolkien's grave. Return of the King was less awful but got a lot wrong including a near-total misunderstanding of several key characters, deleting the best part of the book, and turning the end in to a 45-minute goodbye.
But all of them had beautiful camerawork, great acting, amazing effects, stunning costuming etc.

As a youngster I voraciously read the Hobbit, the trilogy, and then I got to the Silmarillion, read about 100 pages and returned that stupid thing to the library.
That book is denser than Brian Stelter after spending 3 hours at Golden Corral.

Anna, you'll have to explain what these are, I don't know. I love the LOTR but I haven't dived as deep into it as other fans have.
People are assuming they will make Galadriel a great elf HBOC that takes over the series narrative with a group of female friends elven fighters. We will see. There is a female bread plate that looks suspiciously elven, time will tell if it's her.
Cate Blanchett Was magnificent, I don't envy the TV actress her job of filling those shoes.
