Chicken Rebellion Cafe

dalmatianstealth.jpg

Puppy doesn't just chase his tail -- he catches it, and then subdues it.

Swan and swanling.

Static cling problem.

Piglet wants to be friends with the cows.

Cat stretches up tall.

Not the sharpest claw in the paw.

Teeny tiny horse racing around.

Brave dog snuffs out a miniature tornado.

Un-brave dog is trapped in a hallway by a cat -- cats are mean and swat at dogs for no reason. But his friends come to rescue him.

Good doggie knows how to cross the street.

It's too cold for this sh*t.

Inman: All-Bike Edition.

That de-escalated quickly.

An older guy, who really should know better, attempts the kind of stupid stunt that 15 year olds try, with the same results.

ICYMI: Here's one of the stupid stunts 15 year olds try. I still don't know what this guy had planned for the dismount. Intense prayer?

Compilation of wipeouts.

Garly BMX wipeout. She stubs the takeoff and then it's just up to physics and bone shear strength.

The other thing that really chafes my hide is that I had $17,000 in leftover adoption credits which I earned in 2020, but couldn't fully claim so were to carry forward to 2021. I lost them this year because my income went up above the cutoff.

21 Ace - the big story for the economy the next 2 months will be the millions of parents, particularly those under 6, who not only have lost the excess child tax credit this year, who not only are paying inflated priced for essentials, but who also are gonna get hit with huge "tax payments" or "zero refunds" on Apr 15 when they always used to get large refunds b/c of the child credits, b/c they didn't realize the feds paid all that money out last year to try to goose the economy and try to force Manchin into a corner to vote for BBB (b/c these would stop and this exact situation would happen)...

I go back to the Usenet era where AOS would be considered mild regarding language, etc. Believe it or not, at the start of this millennium, the flame wars regarding AMD and Intel and NVIDIA v. ATI were as intense as anything. Online gaming culture is still in your face. And a lot of people thought it was cute to drop random porn stills in threads or other disgusting links.

So, a lot of site trolling goes wayback to males harassing other males online via insults and gotchas and sick burnz. Female misconduct on line in some ways was equally disturbing and could be called outright bullying in forums and would focus attention on someone to isolate and hurt them emotionally which blossomed via social media.

Risk/reward--as academia no longer views objective truth as worth pursuing, overwhelming conformity to your discipline's published research is the only safe play. Iconoclasts to that system are weeded out as actual observation might get you into trouble for bad think versus approved narrative in the literature.

197 CJN Speaks Podcast #8 is quality.

Only some minor technical glitches, but it actually worked out well. Connection glitch at one point, but it plays out to the listener like MisHum went off on an unstoppable tirade and JJ had to mute his mic.

Buck Throckmorton makes his first appearance. Now that we have MisHum on file saying bratwurst, Buck is gonna have to drop a "Well hello, Pilgrim."

Lots of good verbal hell-raising.

205 After the chuck of foam came off the Colombia and sent it into Ben Had's boneyard there was a extremely through investigation and all kinds of stuff was done to minimize foam loss.

After the year+ stand-down and reconfigure another Shuttle was launched that had a camera on board that showed a big chunk of foam falling off and impacting the leading edge of the wing, just like Columbia.

They were able to inspect the area and found no damage and came back alive but at that point it was pretty obvious to everyone associated with the program that the Shuttle was a death trap.

278 Well, it works. You can make phone calls. The interface for that is not great. You can get emails with something like Thunderbird but it doesn't work well as a mobile app. Speaking of apps for banks and such, forget it. Linux apps are iffy. Browser works ok. It's like a desktop Linux PC running on a phone. If you can deal with that then it's usable.

Making phone calls is important; also receiving them. How is the audio? Plenty of volume? Good speaker? My little Nokia "feature phone" has a pretty weak sound. I use my ISP's Webmail service; don't need an e-mail client. And I plain don't use apps. If the brwser works, then I am happy.

320 One interesting note about the Medal of Honor is the number of Irishmen that have received the honor. About 58% of Medals of Honor have been awarded to Irish-Americans, more than twice as many to any other ethnic group. So it should be no surprise that the very common Irish name Kelly (or Kelley) has come up. Twenty Kelly's have received the Medal of Honor, five of those had the given name of John.

429 That being said, casting is a cheap way to do simple tools and if you use the right alloy, you do not have to heat treat. Sintering/MIM is often used for complicated shapes that would require a lot of machining as the waste and labor costs of machining are greater than that of sintering/MIM. In fact, some shapes can only be done through such techniques like turbine blades for example.

For steel parts where strength is paramount, forging is the way to go, because the forging process alligns the crystal of the metal such that their greatest strength is utilized in the directions most needed.

That's what I've heard it called. Went to a plant once where they made parts this way. Lots of vertical presses, with what looks like vacuum cleaners running in reverse. When the ram goes up, it re exposes a mold. The powder is then blown into the mold. Ram comes down, and the powder binds from the pressure. Part gets ejected, then goes through a very hot furnace.

Posted by: Crusader at January 28, 2022 09:34 PM (Cjcf6)

Cursing is handled by a different part of your brain than speech language. It is handled by an area dealing with threat detection and communication. Hominids (us) are communal and we announce to the troop (general surroundings) dangers and surprising and immediate threats.

You might find it helpful to practice identifying "threats" like slipping pliers that mar up a bolt and three inches of veneer or your knuckles, (or the SOB that cuts you off in traffic) and practicing a more appropriate way of announcing it

Posted by: Kindltot at January 28, 2022 09:50 PM (ZMraq)

443 436, I agree with you AOP on forging strength versus other methods. However, mfg moves on and a lot of parts, particularly on firearms, that used to be forged are now MIM, cast, or Sintered. Smith and Wesson in the 90's went through a learning curve on those parts. Ruger still uses a lot of castings to reduce costs and a lot of people complain about how Rugers are big and blocky compared with forged handguns.

Read the story on ammoland and it was that the ATF used a plastic lock tie in conjunction with the trigger to make it fire without additional operator input. 512 510 I recently bought a set of Knipex wrenches/pliers/cutters because of some Moron's suggestion and they are badass.

Posted by: ballistic

Knipex used to be made in Germany and I have had a pair of their channel locks for about thirty years now.

514 508 I can't explain why I'm still here, but it's certainly not because he walked off. I've had way too many close calls.

Ditto. I've got to be on borrowed time.

I find it hard to understand why I'm still here. Glad I am though, and thankful.

I saw him on a video with Norm MacDonald from a couple years ago. He did not look healthy.

There are heavenly delights and there are earthly delights.

Maybe not, Fen. Plenty of skeptical/atheist on the libertarian side.

523 I have a diesel Kubota BX tractor. 5-6 gal. tank. One fill will last a month around here, give or take. If I'm using the land plane or front end loader for extended periods... maybe not.

524 Why is life so great if heaven is paradise? Why not try and please God by helping the poor and not worshiping money and then pray you are hit by a school bus?
Posted by: TheHague
__
Praying for a bus to hit you is dumb.
Praying for God's will be done is not.

And while we are here, we are to spread His good news, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who is God made flesh.
For God so loved us, He gave His only begotten son to die for us.
If He had stayed dead, well then, we have misplaced faith, and we deserve to be mocked and pitied.
But since He did defeat death, and is now very much alive and seated at the right hand of the Father, we have the blessed hope of eternal life.

And He is coming back.
