Why Are Democrats Spreading So Much Covid? Why Do They Hate Grandma?

At The Federalist, questions about whither the left's zeal for Covid-Shaming.

Of the top 10 states (including Washington, D.C.) with the highest COVID-19 infection rate at the moment, seven of them are governed by Democrats.

Unfortunately for CNN and MSNBC, that fact can't be directly traced to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis so they've chosen not to really talk about it, but if they did, they might ask what Democrats are doing so wrong in D.C. (averaging 1,313 new cases each day), New York (32,566), New Jersey (14,028 ), Rhode Island (1,382), Delaware (1,029), Illinois (12,426), and Hawaii (1,361).

What's going on? Why aren't they Following The Science? Are Democrats trying to kill people?

The national media's beloved New York, the place Saint Anthony Fauci once said was doing everything "correctly," has seen a 55 percent increase in hospitalizations as of Monday. D.C. has seen a 94 percent increase.

The Federalist wonders what it will take for the media to notice that blue states, not red, are seeing the biggest surge in covid infections -- perhaps a visit from Ron DeSantis to each blue state will do the job, they suggest.

Recently Karol Markowitz noted that 30% of the entire nation's new covid cases came from a single city -- New York City, media capital of the world.

And yet the media did not seem to notice at all! And certainly did not draw any Moral Lessons from New Yorkers' covid sinfulness.

karolnyccases.png

And just to prove her prophecy correct, the AP skipped reporting on NYC being the source of 30% of the nation's covid cases to focus on what really matters: that Florida, along with nearly every other state, had broken a record for new covid cases.

Screenshot (1099).png

And I do mean "nearly every other state:" Biden has turned America red, baby.

Screenshot (1074).png

Matt Welch notes that now that the Blue Tribe is getting covid at rates higher than the Red Tribe, it's time to treat those with covid with compassion instead of contempt.

After recapitulating the Democrats' and media's (but I do repeat myself) constant attacks on "the unvaccinated" as the reason for covid, and the constant suggestions they deserve to die, Welch notes the Democrats and media suddenly softening in tone about those with covid, now that covid is ravaging their own offices.

The pandemic of the unvaccinated framing actively encouraged one of the uglier and least productive societal reactions to COVID-19: Making the mere fact of contracting the virus a morality play falling largely along partisan lines. The whole notion that by "doing everything right," and "following all the rules," you will be righteously spared, unlike those anti-science people this summer down south.

That self-flattering narrative is collapsing, now that (as predicted) a stubbornly seasonal/regional virus has hit media/Democratic centers for a third consecutive winter. "Thousands who 'followed the rules' are about to get covid," ran the headline on a Washington Post "Wellness" column last week. "They shouldn't be ashamed." Lovely sentiment, that.

Oh, isn't that nice. Isn't that so nice.

Now we're to have compassion for the sick.

When the Government-Media Complex tells us to.

And not a moment before.

Yet many vaccinated HAVE come down with Covid 19, because there is growing evidence that the innoculations being given also weaken your native immune system.

I would wager that Fauci is taking Ivermectin as a prophylaxis against getting Covid 19. But as they have repeatedly said, Ivermectin does not work.

57 "Cases" are meaningless, and also potentially false, depending on the testing protocol. Though bad but consistent metrics do reveal trends, and, well by golly, "surges" in "cases" are exactly what Hope-Simpson seasonality and geography call for right now. Surprise.

"Conservatives" can't help themselves, they absolutely must embrace the disastrously false framework of "cases" and the ability of society to manage or control an already prevalent highly infectious respiratory virus (narrator: can't be done, this was known).

Instead of annihilating the idiotic false framework in its entirety, and push for a return to science and common sense. It's not an academic quibble. It's very much part of how we got here, and how future prospects are darkened.

67 I think this Omicron deal is going to change everything. Two stories from casa blaster: 16yo daughter had a sore throat and headache and bodyaches. Tested positive for COVID. Was not feeling better after a couple of days, so her mother, a hypochondriac and Munchausen's By Proxy candidate, took her to the ER. She threw up there, and then she says she was miraculously better. No symptoms at all. None. New CDC 5 day rule set her free. (side note - I believe she had COVID in November 2019 - her dr diagnosed it as "mysterious virus" and she has had some undiagnosed and untreated long haul symptoms since. Those are now gone.)

15yo daughter works in fast food. Two coworkers tested positive, a third who she spent more time with has a sore throat, so he is getting tested. She calls out of work because she doesn't know her status and the earliest test we could find around here was Jan 10. They don't want her to call out because she is not positive and they probably have 3 out already and she is a hard worker too. She doesn't want to go without a test - so they send her a location to get tested today so she can work tomorrow.

So, wait... the narrative is no longer "I hope all the dirty unvaxxed getting COVID all die!" Let me guess, that's still relevant, but if you're vaxxed and get COVID (which they said could not happen), we're supposed to have compassion.

Funny, I don't take lessons about the sanctity of human life from people who celebrate mass murder of babies in the womb. I won't wish anyone dead who has been hoping for me to die over the past 22 months, but I sure as shit am not going to give a damn if any of them do happen to die.

But they scared everyone with this stuff. And lots of people are going to get it vaxxed, boosted, and pureblood - AND BE FINE! But if a bunch of people get it, a bunch of people are going to be in contact and are going to want tests - that the Biden administration decided not to rush production because they wanted to remove testing as an alternative to vaccination. So all of those people waiting for tests would have to quarantine for 10 days under the old guideline. Think about the fast food restaurant - everyone there would be under quarantine for 10 days waiting for tests. So they reduced the guidance to 5 days.

Because SCIENCE!

So, it's true that it's less lethal, but with more contagion, we'll probably see matched hospitalization and death numbers as last winter...

I imagine that this is something that you could actually figure out with the right experiment. A large study across a large population that tracks infections and symptoms in control and vaccine groups that documents a lot of health history from each participant in order to create a data set that could indicate the relative efficacy of a vaccine's effect on the severity of symptoms.

Has this experiment been carried out, or did every experiment get canceled when control groups were forced to get vaccinated?

And on and on and on.

If they stop testing anyone but the symptomatic, this "pandemic" would end tomorrow. And even with the symptomatic, send out treatment kits with the testing kits, like they have been doing in India for over a year.

They won't do that, because they never want this to end. A patient cured is a customer lost. A country cured is a Plandemic lost.

General hospital intakes numbers are up significantly last two weeks, but medical admins are being cagey about overall ICU numbers which are likely flat or barely up.

Death count is up too, but in line with seasonal variance, and down significantly as a percentage of hospitalizations compared to last year.

We're not talking about "so and so is a hypocrite to the progressive cause," or anything. This is attacking people's sense of safety. It's essentially a pocketbook issue at this point. Covid safety is like inflation for some.

Also, it has a lot more to do with things than just a general election. Far left challengers who want to shut down the country forever until covid-0 could unseat some relatively safe moderates in primary races, leading to an increase in competitive races Democrats face next year.

They're in a bind.

I tried to explain about fading anti-bodies and T-cell memory but finally Mrs. Boswell put her foot down - get vaxx'd or else...

Yup, next week we'll see just how many farms there are that meet the new regulations. Time to stock up on chops and ribs. Of course, this means that prices on beef and chicken are going to go up even more. If this doesn't prompt more LatinX people to vote red, I'm not sure what will.

My local taqueria will no doubt stop selling their delish tacos al pastor, and carnitas. Also have to wonder about the local BBQ joints - considering 80% of what they sell is pork ribs or sausages. And what about the sausage manufacturers? I guess they'll have to move out of state.

CA: Shoplifting up to $1k in merchandise is ok. Shitting on the street is ok. Shooting up on the street is ok. Breaking into people's cars is ok. Beating old Asian people is ok. Burning down a racist's house is ok.

It's easy to forget that there even is an "opposition" party in the US, or that there are any adults at all, apart from a handful of governors, mayors, sheriffs, and county supervisors. At no point in this entire catastrophe has there been anything close to a coherent, intelligent take-down of the absurdly unscientific garbage underlying *all* of the "response".

In my county we're seeing 'new cases' at a rate four times that of a month ago. Deaths at 1.1% over the week before.

I'm pretty sure I picked it up last week and it's pretty much annoying, while the wife is fine. But she's religiously taking zinc, D3, and a glass of wine with dinner. I tend to slack on the supplements. Unless beer is considered a supplement.

Posted by: TC at December 30, 2021 01:18 PM (00h1T)

You are, but they aren't as sexy - VA is on its way to hitting the same hospitalization peak it hit last Jan (if trends continue)...deaths will probably match (but hopefully be lower - that trend is still 2-3 weeks of records to ctach up to)...but cases will be much higher.

So, it's true that it's less lethal, but with more contagion, we'll probably see matched hospitalization and death numbers as last winter...

Posted by: Nova local at December 30, 2021 01:22 PM (exHjb)

"Deaths from COVID" will very likely spike even though the Omicron variant is (supposedly) milder. Because more people who die of causes other than COVID will test positive post-mortem. More COVID cases means there will be more people dying WITH COVID. Which is counted as a COVID death as we here know, but is not told to the COVIDiot brigades. Ugh.

228 I don't know if this had already been posted but according to Aaron Rodgers, the NFL has been quietly getting their players Ivermectin to treat them whenever they showed any signs of the Chairman Xi flu:
* * *

They'd be foolish not to. The Indian government and WHO handed out boxes of cheap covid meds (Vit D, zinc, ivermectin, etc.) in Uttar Pradesh, and virtually wiped out covid there -- despite that state, which has hundreds of millions of mainly poor Indians, having a very low vaccination rate.

Ivermectin and the other things work, but you have to take them early. If you wait until you're having trouble breathing, it's too late. There have been studies elsewhere that have shown this too.

If our government had handed out the $3 "magic boxes" here a couple of years ago, it probably would have saved thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of American lives.

Instead, they told people to wear masks, painted arrows on store floors, and told people not to go to the hospital until they were having trouble breathing.

The response to this thing was completely insane, and caused hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths, and trillions of dollars in economic damage.

Except COVID panic is too deeply ingrained in the intersectional woke progressive religion to be discarded from the top down. They had some excellent field generals, and some excellent tactics employed to reach objectives. And the Soviets made repeated stupid mistakes and allowed large formations to get encircled repeatedly. But they (the Germans) were at the END of their supply lines, and were getting conflicting strategic direction from the top of the German Command. They had also been in the field, campaigning since June 22, and many soldiers and officers were frankly exhausted. Staff officers serving directly under Hitler in Berlin were given conflicting directions, as to the progress of the war on the Eastern Front.

284 If our government had handed out the $3 "magic boxes" here a couple of years ago, it probably would have saved thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of American lives.

Instead, they told people to wear masks, painted arrows on store floors, and told people not to go to the hospital until they were having trouble breathing.

The response to this thing was completely insane, and caused hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths, and trillions of dollars in economic damage.

HCQ and Zinc (or Quercetin and Zinc) work early in the infection stage. If you reach the "pneumonia" stage, then the don't work very well.
Ivermectin has proven effective in all stages (unless you are almost or literally fatally ill) as it is effective in disrupting enzyme pathways to reproduction by the virus.
But the CDC has determined it doesn't work, so yes, more unnecessary deaths.

292 Actually, I suspect that the refusal to approve any religious exemptions will be the downfall of the policy in court. Strict compliance with a ridiculous order is often a technique perfected by bureaucracy to get that order overturned.

RFRA (Religious Freedom Restoration Act) applies to all federal government actions including DoD and requires strict scrutiny. Rejecting all claims indicates that any promises of exemptions are phony which pretty much indicates that a religious animus exists if any other exemptions are approved.

299 This is why a movie like Die Hard continues to ring so hellaciously.

The entire basis of the plot is that local and federal authorities mount a less than useless response to a crisis, and in fact play right into the crisis' hands. And as a bonus, their attitude, arrogance and conceit are 100% inverse to their fecklessness.

Add to it a sell your soul for ratings portrayal of the news media and I don't know what it means but you've got a pretty timeless message and it's here to stay.

But when I went to a Safeway in a deep blue county the mask up sign was prominently displayed and I didn't see a single unmasked shopper so I cravenly put my token paper (surgical) mask on. 359 If our government had handed out the $3 "magic boxes" here a couple of years ago, it probably would have saved thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of American lives. ... The response to this thing was completely insane, and caused hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths, and trillions of dollars in economic damage.

Posted by: TrivialPursuer--F*ck Joe Biden at December 30, 2021 01:37 PM

Yep, and Trump could have gone that route. Could have announced that he was copying what they were doing in India and putting together at-home treatment kits for every single American. Putting it in the CARES Act as a condition of his signing the legislation. He already knew that HCQ worked, since he suggested it early on in April 2020 I think.

Then, Biden Administration people could have made that one of their first orders of business upon getting into the White House. Could have looked like heroes coming up with the kits, blamed all the deaths on Trump and guaranteed their re-election in 2022 and 2024. The fact they didn't do that means they are either that stupid to not think of it or that evil to know about it and still not do it.

399 The left's religion is like the worst exaggeration of Roman Catholic guilt without any method of expiation or atonement.

There's a weird part of human psychology that likes feeling guilty or being told they are doing wrong. I have talked to many pastors and they all agree that the most beloved and well-received sermons they do are the ones about sin or how people are doing stuff wrong. Lots of law, less gospel.

The left seems to really hook into that: you're doing terrible things and need to stop, but never ever lose the stain of guilt or have a way out.

So, there are different genetic deletion types of my chronic leukemia - except in rare cases, almost all of the diagnosed start with a watch and wait period before treatment...I have the worst type and am unlikely to avoid treatment for a long time (especially at my age), but there are very mild types that never need treatment. Even in that group, when they get typing the indicates this likely result, many eventually demand treatment within a few months b/c they can't watch and wait and do nothing and live...they'd rather have the large side effects from the treatments (which can include afib, liver and kidney issues, and yes, death) b/c they need something to say they'll be okay before they are willing to live.

430 The public service loan forgiveness program, thank you Bush. Where you spend 10 years making minimal payments which don't keep up with the interest accrual, then get told that you missed a payment somewhere in there, or didn't file a form they never said you needed to fill out and leave you deeper in the hole, starting the clock all over again. The federal student loan program is a predatory racket.

If you are on edge because of your choice you can have multiple, very popular white knights telling you the choice if fine, don't worry about it and yet you still snap at folks who say its a bad choice. 476 Yep, and Trump could have gone that route. Could have announced that he was copying what they were doing in India and putting together at-home treatment kits for every single American. Putting it in the CARES Act as a condition of his signing the legislation. He already knew that HCQ worked, since he suggested it early on in April 2020 I think.
_______________

They didn't start the Uttar Pradesh program until May, 2021, when India was at the height of the Delta surge there.

Trump was already out of office by then.

Just five weeks after they started the "magic box" program (mid June, 2021), they announced that covid cases were down by more than 97% in Uttar Pradesh. By early July, cases were down 99%.

Trump couldn't have copied what India and the WHO did in Uttar Pradesh, but Biden certainly could have. Instead, he and the other government hacks kept insisting the experimental "vaccines" were the only solution.

And here we are.

Ah, thanks for the correction. The last 22+ months seem to all run together for me sometimes. That said, he did know about the (potential?) success of HCQ, since he brought it up early on. I think he also was treated with Ivermectin when he tested positive for COVID in Sept/Oct 2020? I'm not going to blame him for not coming up with the idea, but if they came up with it in India, surely someone in the entire "healthcare" industry here in the USA could have gone "hey, you know what we could do..."

That said, while Trump is off the hook on that, everyone in the D.C. since the India success is not off the hook. Isn't Rand Paul a doctor? Has he proposed this idea at all over the past however many months since the India success has been known?

Some people think an 'ounce of vaccination' is worth a pound of cure. I'll stick to the old ways of an 'ounce of prevention'. By getting outside in the sunshine, taking supplements, eating healthy, keeping active, and finding joy in life.
