The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

You want to turn Philadelphia into Nazi Germany, have at it. I’m one mile from the suburbs, so if I really want to dine out, I’ll head to Bucks County. Wyatt Earp, The OK Corral Blog

Quote II

It has not all been a bed of roses. What the enemy means for evil, He will make it good. I say that because tonight on the House floor, the Democrats are going to send a clear message that not only should I be referred for criminal contempt but that anybody who is a conservative and supported Donald Trump should be ashamed. They’re not going to intimidate me.” President Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows

Quote III

"My family is beyond grateful and humbled by your generosity. Thank you all for being incredible human beings and reminding us that evil doesn't get to win when there is this much love to fight it" Amber Gray

If you or I were to go before Congress and lie, there would be serious consequences. If you are Congressman Adam Schiff you are expected to be a lying piece of shit.

But despite a total lack of credibility given his repeated actions, Schiff has never suffered any consequences. And what does a bad person do when they continually get away with doing bad things? They continue to do bad things. Thus, you get Schiff, during a January 6th Committee hearing yesterday, doctoring a text between Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan to push a false narrative.

Elon Musk puts Senator Fauxcahontas in her place.

Musk could have ignored Warren's lazy and lame attempt to smear his name in order to win political points, but as something of a happy warrior, he went all in with a flurry of replies on Tuesday afternoon that reminded the Twitter-verse that Warren is pretty much the last person to be calling anyone out for their life or career choices.

"Stop projecting!" Musk tweeted along with a link to a story about how Warren got caught lying about her Native American ancestry in order to advance her own ambitions.

My first reaction when I read this story: Well of course they did. Laws and morality are for little peeps.

Four FBI officials engaged in sexual intercourse with foreign prostitutes, according to an internal report.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) concluded an investigation into six FBI officials related to their involvement with foreign prostitutes, finding that four of the officials engaged in sexual intercourse, while a fifth solicited “commercial sex,” according to a report issued Tuesday by the DOJ OIG. A sixth official “committed misconduct” by failing to report the incidents, according to the report.

Commercial sex?

The Salvation Army. Sucks to be them.

The Salvation Army asked for more than donations this year.
The Christian charitable organization asked all white donors to reflect on their racism this year.
Wow.

After a major uproar the Salvation Army backtracked over Thanksgiving weekend and released a statement refuting the claims of their racial demands.

SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS: ‘90 Day Fiancé’ star sells her farts for $45K a jar

In a follow-up video , captioned, she informed her fans that her farts made her $45,000 (nearly $58,000 CAD) in one week.

It bears repeating: $45,000 in one week … for jars of farts.

If you are ever in Bentonville, Arkansas, I would avoid the Oven and Tap.

A waitress was fired after receiving a massive tip that the restaurant manager instructed her to split with other workers.

Ryan Brandt and another server got a $4,400 tip from a party of more than 40 at Oven and Tap in Bentonville, Arkansas, according to Fox 59. Each guest, thinking the money would go to the two servers specifically, put in $100.

‘We knew servers were really hit hard through Covid, and it was something that we had come up with to help give back,’ Grant Wise, who ate at the restaurant after a conference, told CBS 5.

Fired for other reasons. How convenient.

I'm surprised Uncle Paste Eater hasn't granted this cop a full pardon yet.

Texas detective arrested and charged with conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens

Per Bill Melugin, a detective with the Eagle Pass, TX Police Department was arrested today and charged with conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens.

The FBI is investigating the case and he faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

The FBI investigating? Which Special Agents the ones that lie to congress or sleep with foreign whores?

So what.

A former SpaceX engineer claims that there is a culture of sexual harassment at Elon Musk’s space launch venture, and expressed her concerns about any future Mars colony.

Ashley Kosak described the successful NASA partner organisation as being in a "state of disrepair and dysfunction" and Musk himself comes in for particular criticism.

She compared the South African tech billionaire to "a sadistic and abusive man" she had known in the past.

"Elon makes promises he doesn’t hold himself accountable to," Kosak wrote in feminist blog Lioness.

Until Mars is colonized I think Ms. Kosak needs to concentrate on shaving her legs or something.

At the gym tonight, signs were taped to the doors. ALL MUST WEAR A MASK REGARDLESS OF VACCINE STATUS.

Inside, about 10% had on masks. They were the ones who had on masks at the gym last week. There was absolutely no effort to enforce the new "mandate."

It was a big middle finger to Governor French Laundry.

214 Completely unexpected news from Planet Portland!

Portland voters, never missing an opportunity to virtue signal, recently voted to create the Portland Clean Energy Fund. This is funded by a 1% gross receipts tax on businesses with over a billion dollars in sales US-wide. (It's not a sales tax, it's a tax on sales!) Needless to say, minority-owned businesses are supposed to get preference to contracts.

Well, you'll never guess what happened next!

The Portland city council awarded "Diversifying Energy" a $11.5 million grant to purchase heat pumps and cooling units for 15,000 homes. It turns out that the president of Diversifying Energy has a history of defrauding energy companies and has failed to pay taxes in three states. She does have the right skin color, however.

The city rejected the one other bidder (which city staff has recommended) "Earth Advantage", because the staff of Earth Advantage was 85% white.

We won't tell you who did it or how it went down, and you're not allowed to ask about it either, because that would be racist and make you a bad person. Also, there was a hurricane happening at the time so we don't actually know how many boats were sunk by the hurricane and how many boats were sunk by this anonymous enemy action. And the Porter was nearby and it probably TKed some boats, because Porter gonna Porter. Be a good American and report to the nearest army base and sign some documents vetted by Discount Bob's Legal Consulting, and by army base we mean any government facility because we just redefined the term 'army' from being a standing fighting force to being a generic federal agency that may or may not involve standing and/or fighting. And yes, the last couple of pages are left blank because Discount Bob will roll dice and fill in some interesting stuff a while after you've signed the forms. And don't you dare go off to fight Japs with an old rifle, because that's wrongthink.

We have our own mask mandate. It went away for a couple of weeks months ago when the jabs first came out. We also have mandatory jabs for all entertainment venues - which means bars, restaurants, clubs, etc. Likely, the state legislation is a floor, not a ceiling, meaning that it allows for stricter local controls. Good thing #2 was the lack of masks. At least 95% and probably 98% of the people there were unmasked. Parents, kids, teachers all sans mask. There were a few kids and parents here and there, but they were by far the odd man out. Like literally in the 1-5% range of the hundreds of people in attendance.

And this is at a school that was closed most of last year cuz the 'Rona and required everyone to wear a mask when it re-opened.

The fever has fucking finally broken. And I say amen to that.

And in related news, NYC has banned all new construction from providing natural gas in the buildings. Everything must be electric from now on. Which means heat pumps galore. I see a trend here. There is a lot of money to be made from shit like this, which means the backers of these laws are involved in heat pumps. And most likely Chinese made heat pumps.

On Thanksgiving Eve I drove all night to my sister's home outside of Atlanta from Sarasota FL. Then drove back that Saturday.

Actual flight time is about an hour and a half, but factor in driving to the airport, spending time in the groper lines, driving from Hartsfield to my sister's, it probably took only 4 hours longer. Saved money, no face diaper or vax hassles, ate a decent meal on the way, and sat much more comfortably.

It strikes me that airline travel nowadays is probably worse than riding a prison bus.

So I'm not sure what you're getting at.

We have a local mandate down here in LA County, too, and it pretty much exactly matches the new state mandate (which is not legislation, btw; it's an order from state health officials). But unlike San Francisco, we didn't get a carve out.

Also note that states cannot declare bankruptcy (as that term is used in federal law - they *can* become insolvent) but entities below state level (generally, counties, cities, towns, and those crazy things in Lousyana, parrishes) can file for "BK" because they are considered corporate entities from a federal perspective. Well, that's what I remember from my 1 semester bankruptcy class in law school. (Most satisfying B+ I ever earned.)

493 Rockets ain't "environmentally friendly" as the sandal wearers define it anyway they burn kerosene, liquid oxygen, hydrogen, etc. Then there's the fun hypergolic propellants, hydrazine and other fun stuff.

Fun Fact: The Apollo lunar module ascent engine used hypergolic propellants for simplicity and reliability. While the design itself was extensively tested, the engine itself could only be used once, because of the highly corrosive nature of the propellants. So the first (and only) time the engine was ever fired, it had to work. Or the Astronauts would have been stranded.

Current Air Force cruise missiles are turbofans running regular jet fuel.

Minuteman III ICBMs are solid fuel.

Trident II sub missiles are also solid fuel.

You generally don't want exotic cryogenic propellants (like liquid oxygen and hydrogen) for a missile that needs to set ready to launch for an extended period of time, so they tend to go with solid fuel.

Best teacher anyone could ever have (besides whomever homeskooled them). We studied probability by learning to shoot craps with M&Ms for chips. We did "math fundies" every morning -- 4 math probs (1 of each basic type) and 2 minutes to do all 4. I rarely got more than 2 right. Our world geography test was a map of the then-world. The bonus question was the capitals of each country. We dissected a frog (disgusting), we learned what Refusniks were (Mrs. Ziff was Hebe), we studied Mao, the Cultural Revolution, the "Leap" (and none of it was positive), pre-Kruschev USSR (and none of it was positive) and we read books like "1984", "Animal Farm", and "Anthem". (And "Flatland", one of my all-time favorites.) But best of all, craps. To this day, I shoot wrong way.

"occasionally publishes internal study guides on various complex topics" == "SA-ISJC is so much smarter than you deplorables"
"the guide "Let's Talk About Racism," was issued as a voluntary resource" -- just like the "voluntary" DIE meetings I have to attend at work.
"International Headquarters realized that certain aspects of the guide may need to be clarified"-- Clarified? They should unequivocally renounce it.

Saturn V g-limit was set at 3.98g. Call that 4g. Note this is the felt acceleration, not the actual coordinate acceleration of the vehicle.

(If I'm feeling 1g, what I'm doing? Sitting still, not accelerating. If I'm accelerating up at 1g coordinate acceleration, I'm feeling 2g). This can get confusing about the g-values you see.

On the first stage, they cut the center engine out about 26 seconds or so before burn out to limit that felt acceleration as the propellant mass was nearing empty. It did exceed 4g a time or two, IIRC.

583 One of my regrets in life is not being able to observe a Saturn V launch, by all accounts it was amazing. Very loud. Spectators were 2 miles away, and could feel the rumbling in their chest.

I can't speak for Saturn V, but I saw a Shuttle launch at night. Yes, you could feel the sound, it was that loud. And the light was so bright, you could still see the rocket about 60 miles out over the Atlantic.

586 I still bust on CJ when needed, but only as an example. Did so with Steve, by way of illustration, on my last post in his personal direction.

At which point, Steve had already been banned. My post his way was essentially "willowed", and of little effect. Previous to the Poker Hell towards the TxMoMeet, I had always had positive comms with Steve. My rebukes to him as to the Poker Hell as to the MoMeet, well, a literate man can read and discern. Not condemnatory, but advisory, as to boundaries and permissions. Not MY permission, but that of the Hosts, and Ben Had in particular.

But then, I do fail in clarity, every now n' then.

NASA used to have a "competition" about heart rate. Who was the lowest. Who was the coolest customer.

IIRC, John Young held the record. During the launch of Apollo 17, his heart rate was 70. Charlie Duke, sitting next to him, had a heart rate of 144 during launch.

When Young was landing the LM on the Moon, he did get a little excited, his heart rate hit 90. Neil Armstrong's heart rate hit 170 during that period.

Young said he was just too old for it to beat any faster.

That is. The. Right. Stuff. Moonwalker Stuff.

Simpler. There are those who can control their emotions to the point where others thing they have none. I can show you an evaluation from Desert Strom, that says I am the most calm person in an emergency my Commanding Officer had ever scene. It's not that those emotions are not there, but that those emotions are counterproductive to survival.
