The Morning Report - 12/13/21

metaphorwritesits.jpg

Good morning, kids. Monday and of course the big story is the devastation caused by tornadoes that hit Kentucky and other areas of the central/southern US. Upwards of 90 are reported dead and the destruction is massive.

Prayers for all the victims and everyone affected. Naturally, the number one topic of discussion among the fools, charlatans and tyrants up to and including demented dotard-in-chief Joey Bivalve is not about providing aid and assistance and even a semi-believable veneer of sympathy and comfort.

"From [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden on down, the usual suspects are already rushing to suggest that last week's deadly tornados are yet another reason the world needs to do more about climate change. Yet no science supports the claim that tornados or any other form of humanity-threatening extreme weather is on the upswing, let along links the supposed threat to global warming. . .

. . . the standard anti-warming agenda would do far more damage to humanity than all natural disasters put together -- by impoverishing us all. We simply don't yet have practical, affordable alternatives to fossil fuels (which, by the way, are still what produce most of the electricity for your Tesla).

Global warming is real, but not the catastrophic threat that the media-political-activist complex pretends. The hysterical, nonstop hype poses a far greater danger."

The editorial board at the NY Post is accurate in a sense about "global warming." Well, actually "climate change" but to be even more accurate and to deny accepting the bastardization of the language and terminology of the left, a changing climate. The climate on Planet Earth has been changing for 4.5 billion years and will continue to do so for much of the next 3-4 billion years when that big glowing orange ball in the sky some 93 million miles away finally runs out of fuel. The question is how does the combined activity of 7.5 billion human beings affect the climate? The fact is, in all practical terms, it doesn't. What's more, not only is carbon dioxide not evil poison but it and carbon itself are the very stuff of life.

Now just to be crystal clear, this does not mean we should not be good stewards of the environment. Just because I don't believe that fossil fuels will turn the Earth into Venus, doesn't mean I want a Love Canal on every corner. Far from it. But human progress in the real sense (not "progressivism") is about bettering the lives of man via science, industry and technology in such a way that causes minimal impact on the air, land and water that we need to survive, yet is not impeded by Pollyanna-ish fantasies about recreating the Garden of Eden. Where the NY Post gets it 100% right is its assertion of what the anti-warming agenda will do to all of us. It's nihilism wrapped in absolute power inside a mask of self-righteous true believer-ism. Speaking of masks, isn't that really the story of Chinese COVID lockdown mania?

One of the most percipient commentators on [Chinese] COVID is Aaron Ginn, a Silicon Valley technical writer. In March 2021, Ginn predicted that when the [Chinese] COVID crisis was finally over, we should expect "massive confirmation bias and Pyrrhic celebration by elites. There will be vain cheering in the halls of power as Main Street sits in pieces. Expect no apology, that would be political suicide. Rather, expect to be given a Jedi mind trick of "I'm the government and I helped.'"

It's too early to say whether Ginn will be proved right, but all indications are that he will. Commenting on Ginn's prediction at the time, I invoked the political philosopher James Burnham, who famously observed that civilizations tend to end not because they are invaded by an external enemy but from an inner collapse. "They are not murdered; they commit suicide," I wrote, and went on to observe that "The really scary thing about this latest health scare is not the disease but the unexpected depths of passivity it revealed."

Frankly, I don't think it will ever end. How can it? It's the perfect means of control since our overlords have convinced us to be our own gaolers. We are living in a firestorm of fear that spreads and grows hotter with no prospect of burning itself out. And more than almost anything else, it keeps us all chained to a radiator in a Delaware basement, or a sump well waiting for Jame Gumb to lower a basket of Jergens.

9 They say that what is intolerable offense against nature and cannot continue, will not continue. But I'm curious how the "will not continue" manifests itself, and if there is any way a self-correction takes place that is not catastrophic. Because I do not see any way that what is going on will stop. We seem to be caught up in a centrifugally self-accelerating corrupt madness.

36 Day 2 of mental Advent reset thanks to my guest.

I took him to Church yesterday. According to my daughter (the reason for his visit), he was a fallen away Catholic, but well, my daughter sings in the choir, so he had reason to go. And he didn't protest.

Anyway, he came home in tears. So, I'm like, uh oh, and gave him some time. It turns out they were more tears of happiness b/c he'd never been to a Mass where it was not overtly political. And where the priest gave such a simple, yet powerful homily. And where the priest actually stood outside after Mass to greet you happily at the end. This was all foreign to this kid...

Maybe the Almighty had this kid come to me this season to remind me, even as I have cancer, of how good I really have it here.

The "global" temperatures aren't anywhere near the temperatures of the Medieval Warm Period. Its only "warming" if your window of observation is short enough.

But the idea that the "global" temperature is known is absolute folly, the temperature values going into the process are averages upon averages upon averages.

Also, the world experienced greater flourishing during the MWP than when outside it. Instead of lying and saying that "warming" is bad (just not catastrophic) it would be better to shut up- but stupid people just have to virtue signal, even when it means they are wrong.

Barnhardt has coined the phrase "Diabolical Narcissism" to describe this. Their emotional palette is fear, anger, envy and something else bad I can't remember right now.

And like the demons, they will not be happy until everyone suffers as they do.

She goes a little too far at times in supporting her narrative sometimes- she never does anything by halves- but the main conclusions make sense.

I ate and drank just so much. I never thought I'd pay $600 for a single meal (it's what happens when one gets the wine pairing and the other gets the champagne pairing).

My hermetically sealed experiences of Cozumel, Mexico and Falmouth, Jamaica were amusing, though I feel as though I've never been to either country. Mexico was a cooking class with an open bar, and Jamaica was zip-lining (not as boring as South Park made it out to be, but not as exciting as Dolley had hoped).

We got on an on-board gameshow, their version of The Newlywed Game but between new couples, old couples, and those in between (we were the in between). We won a bottle of prosecco. I got a few laughs from the audience.

I lost a game of movie quotes trivia (I got second), and it did nothing to my sense of self-worth.

Got news that a good friend had passed away yesterday. She is our age (me and sra blaster's) and it was a bolt out of the blue.

And last Saturday she had posted on social media that she got her booster. And she died of cardiac arrest. With blood clots.

She had no history of it. She was a half marathon runner. The proximity and the symptoms are mighty suggestive. Yet noone is going to investigate this.

Most people probably do not remember, but when the government locked us down in March 2020, there were very minimal "COVID" deaths (or cases or hospitalizations for that matter). I remember I was obsessively following the data and comparing it to past pandemics and flu seasons and the reaction to COVID seemed ridiculous and made zero sense. Then of course to justify their nonsensical lockdowns, policies were put in place to overexaggerate the case-hospitalization-death counts.

This is what our "COVID Task Force Team" stated in FAQ to address that. Keep in mind, this same "task force team" less than 1 before had completely exempted the entire UAW of any of the mandates (submit status, vaccinate, weekly testing).

How is the company mandating a vaccine after the 5th circuit already said the federal government mandate is unconstitutional?

The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit issued a temporary stay of the Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Any majority opinion has to get the explicit signoff from everyone in that majority. If there's 5 to overturn Casey (or Roe, but probably not) without Roberts, Roberts, even as Chief Justice, can't write an opinion that does less than that. They'll effectively dissent, but with five justices doing it, they'll become the new majority.

That move would hurt Roberts politically within the Court pretty much more than anything else he could do while producing nothing of value that he wanted.

This has been a Plandemic from the beginning. It was clear to me in spring 2020. What was not clear to me was that it was a worldwide Plandemic. And that is because it inevitably walls people off from reasons to live. Truth, family, love, God all replaced by obedience and hedonism. Eventually the society, if not all the motes within the society, come to realize that the people being obeyed are unworthy and that random sex, at whatever frequency it occurs, is ultimately unfulfilling.

The SCOTUS also has zero authority to redefine something that transcends the office. Marriage has been enjoyed for all of human history in every land, tribe and generation. it will continue to exist. Marriage has never been and will never be within the domain of authority and control of the Left, of SCOTUS or any human.

Honestly, Oz reminds me of what I thought of Trump in 2015 before we saw him in office. Is Oz the celebrity (former Oprah show doc) who got red-pilled now and he'll be our best ally, or is he still a total squish? Either way, is he our best shot to keep the seat b/c squish is still better than Dem...and in PA, I don't know what you all can elect with the Philly fraud, but I do know Oz might not bring that out as strongly...

I guess it boils down to who can beat Warnock. It's a shame we couldn't have both as senators.

229 Saint of the Day: St. Lucy (Lucia) of Syracuse (283-304 A.D.) was born to a wealthy Christian family. Lucy grew in piety, and secretly consecrated her virginity to Christ. Her mother pressured her into an arranged marriage with a pagan nobleman in order to provide for her daughter's future, which Lucy avoided. When Lucy's mother was struck with a long and serious illness, Lucy convinced her mother to accompany her to pray at the tomb of St. Agnes. As a result, Lucy's mother was miraculously cured of her malady. Lucy gave herself to serving persecuted Christians hiding in the catacombs, wearing a wreath of candles on her head to illumine the dark underground caverns, with her arms full of provisions. The man whom Lucy had refused his hand in marriage, had her imprisoned under the persecutions of Diocletian. The judge sentenced Lucy to prostitution in a brothel, but God rendered her body immovable and the soldiers were unable to carry out the task. They then tried to set her on fire, but the wood underneath Lucy would not burn. Finally, she was killed by the sword. Among her tortures her eyes were gouged out, making St. Lucy the patron saint of eye problems and blind people.

233 211 Yes, that is certainly possible.

Again, I am skeptical there are five votes to overturn Roe. But IF there are, I doubt they are all as super-passionate about it as a typical pro-life advocate. So, they might be open to a watered-down decision if they can avoid a 5-4 decision.

They might not compromise for 6-3, but might for a 9-0 or 8-1, though this would require the liberals to compromise, which is also a dubious proposition.

Anyway, we'll see, but if THIS Court won't overturn Roe and Casey, then be certain that no Court ever will.

COVID has served its purpose, I think the government officially declares its safe to go outside.

The reason it ends is Governors like DeSantis and Lee and several others have basically given the middle finger to the protocols.

This Sunday, we had a new family of 5 in our church for service. They were from California. Their story, nope not moved for work or family, they just moved because they can no longer stand the government there. Pretty brave, moving across the country with no work lined up, but while people have a choice, they will make one.

California will eventually turn into a feudal system, either you are a millionaire tech/government/media worker or a welfare recipient. That won't work. You can't run a company comprised only of a board of directors and janitors.

As of six months ago they tested about three percent of all the samples they pulled with the specific goal of testing in mind.

If it's not a regular cold, or some other respiratory illness, or the flu, then it's most definitely got to be the Omicron.

Or let's just call it Omicron from the start and cut out the middle-man.

299 Can Covid tests tell one strain from another? How do they know when it's Omicron?

Posted by: grammie winger

.....

Yes, not on the test they give you though.

They take the sample for sequence testing. Generally the test they run isn't a complete sequencing to identify the strain, but a test for a specific gene that no longer appears in the new variant that did appear in the old ones.

If the gene is absent, they assume it to be the new variant.

The theory on omicron is that a COVID patient was simultaneously infected with the common cold, and during replication proteins from the cold virus combined with COVID and formed the new, much less deadly/much more contagious variant. Basically COVID caught a cold.
