Absentee ONT

Howdy Horde! Time for your weekly Friday night meme madness. I hope I can get one of the other COBS to post this, because right now I'm on a plane headed for Newark, NJ. My wife got me a ticket to the Army/Navy game as an early Christmas present, I don't land until 10:30 ET. I'm pretty excited about going to the game, is there a better sporting event, no, a better AMERICAN event than Army/Navy? It's almost a bucket list event. Not up there with going to the moon or climbing Everest, but I'm still pretty stoked. The only downside is that my wife is an (shudder) Army gal. She has me sitting with a group of our friends who are also all Army pukes. She knitted them all Go Army hats, with their unit designations across the top. She also knitted me a Go Navy, Beat Army hat......in Army colors. Oy.

Go Navy.jpg

Frankly, it's not looking good, Army is 8-3 and Navy is 3-8. Oy again.

Why don't the anti-gunners get this?

brain.jpg

I know it's obsessive. I want it to be obsessive. Hell, I check guns that have been in my hands for 5 minutes just to make sure they haven't loaded themselves. I yelled at Little when he was about 5, playing guns in the forest with his friends, using Nerf guns. Because he wasn't observing proper trigger discipline. To do otherwise would be to open myself up to being a Baldwin, whining about how it wasn't my fault that I murdered an innocent woman. If I handle a gun. It's my responsibility, it's my fault. And fuck you Alec Baldwin, for your craven crawling.

Know what's great about the internet? The way it allows random people to connect and just riff creatively off each other, like the video I posted last week that started with a cat drinking milk and ended up a full fledged song, or this exchange I saw on another message board

How truth is corrupted

women climb.jpg

#1 They were only “Marxist” in that they were Soviets
#2 It was Everest
#3 They didn't refuse help, by the time they needed it nobody could get to them
#4 I haven't been able to find out what's being distorted here, the only reference to an “we're fine” message comes from the beginning of the climb
#5 What really happened is they got caught in a storm, no help could reach them because of the storm, and they died. An all male party would have died under the same circumstances.
#6 Yeah, so?

Who will win?

94 "Sparky" our electrician from way back has a gift. Using a simple wooden handled screwdriver and a copper wire he can tell you, or at least sort of point at, any hot or "live" connection in a box.

He can only do this once a week, or so. Maybe less. He says he's lost most of the feeling in his fingers. And lost his sense of taste. Memory's shot to hell too.

I pay him in cash. I can usually retrieve it once he stops smoldering. Well, and once the money is not smoking either.

Not much to look at but he's got an electric personality.

we talked about it a fair amount earlier today. To me, it looks like a kick-the-can decision, putting everything off until the Mississippi case is decided.

the interesting part was that Roberts wanted to kill it right now, and joined the 3 liberals in a dissent. Court watchers have been wondering for a year now whether this was going to turn into a 6-3 Court or a 5-4 Court. Some said a 3-3-3 Court. Well today it was a 5-4 Court, and now Roberts has a real interesting decision to make. If he sticks with the liberals, he effectively abdicates most of his authority as Chief Justice, and the new De Facto Chief Justice becomes Clarence Thomas. (the most senior conservative)

So how about it Roberts? Want to go down that road? Your choice!

There are no properly conducted studies showing that masks worn by the general public prevent the spread of Covid. There is rampant speculation, and a weird non-existent principle of scientific transference (masks stop small particles, viruses are small, therefore masks will stop covid).

1) A lot of the more overt Christian references were removed from the movies.
2) The Catholicism in the books is woven throughout the backstory more than its explicitly portrayed in the books themselves, so it's not always evident (unless you know what to look for). It's a lot more subtle than the overt Christian overtones of The Chronicles of Narnia.

If no basement, head for the interior room with no windows that is furthest from the exterior. Best to get something to cover heads, pillows, mattresses, etc. Head injuries are one of the most prevalent causes of fatalities in windstorms.

This can be a real ground if you have metallic conduit running uninterrupted from the metal box back to the panel. But any loosening of connectors or screws anywhere along the path can cause loss of ground. It's not very reliable hence the current code requirement of a dedicated ground wire.

350 Evening.

Sentai Filmworks has a Christmas sale and I just nabbed some anime. On top of a bunch of shot I ordered from Rightstuf. Very little of which I'll ever have the time to watch.

Somebody stop me. Send Anna to come take away my card, grab my wrists and hit me with my own hands if I even look at an anime site.

But I got a giant robot action series (Sakura Wars) what looks like a very nice romance with a decent hook and excellent character designs (After The Rain) and a horror series that seems to involve children brutally and sadistically murdering the shit out of each other (When They Cry).

Good stuff. Can't wait.

Excellent! I hope you are enjoying the films. Being an uber Tolkien nerd I watch the extended editions whenever possible. Tolkien had a great deal of Biblical inspiration, and he put his faith into a story of Good overcoming Evil through faith in humble rejection of the pleasures and desires of the sinful world. But there's nothing as really overt as the Narnia stories.

----

We don't know what exactly the prophets having those visions saw. There are things seen in vision in the Bible that sound strange at first glance. But when you sit down and carefully examine what words the writer is using, you realize that the description could fit with something from our own era that the prophet would have never seen before, and would have struggled to describe using the words he had available to him.

It's possible that if you did actually see the heavenly beings that are described in a fashion like the six-winged being above, you would smack yourself on the forehead, and say, "Of course! I should have realized that's what that prophet was writing about!"

From what I can tell, there are several different groups of angels (often referred to as "choirs"). The ones that are the highest ranking and closest to God are the most bizarre. The ones that are lower ranking and closer to humanity appear to be mostly like us. These are the ones often used as messengers from God.

Eh, it's a cat. Every cat I've ever interacted with had some weird thing going on. I suspect that's yet another tool in their kit that they use to enslave us.

Prayer meeting one Wed. night, followed by choir practice, SOP for the week. Tornado warning comes in during the service. Wind is picking up, driving rain, and lots of lightning. They decide they'd best all go to the basement.

They get down there all huddled together. Now, I forget what happened exactly. Wind may have blown down a big tree limb behind, or maybe it was lighting struck nearby. Made a big boom.

They got to praying big time in the basement. It was indeed a prayer meeting.

If this stuff slides east you're going to get some heavy weather. It's not dying out. Wave after wave...

Looks like it is in the process of going through now by the radar.

No bueno if you have no outlet. Breaker tracer would work, though they get mixed reviews.

524 Do any of the Horde wish to go in on a business opportunity with me?? I am proposing a type of laundromat that is only a wash, dry and folding operation. Alzheimers patients are very good at folding, I just gave hubs some small individually wrapped Christmas candies to devour, each individual candy wrapper is being folded as small as possible and placed on a plate. Secondly, is there any true hard data on the Salvation Army's haul this year since going woke and accusing their largest donor base of being racists? Where I live, the ubiquitous Army is not quite so visible this year. They will never get another dime from me. Finally (thank God) prayers up for all people affected by nasty weather tonight. My big donation for Christmas will now go to a reliable Christian relief organization to lend a hand to those in need, particularly after these storms. Merry Chritsmas to all and to all a good night.

525 I did The Bomb drills like that in grade school. We mocked the teachers for the patent absurdity of it.

Posted by: San Franpsycho at December 10, 2021 10:15 PM (EZebt)

Haha yep I did too. The windows in my grade school class faced the Pentagon about 2 miles away. Even when I was a kid I knew we were toast if the Russians dropped the bomb there.

529 NC Ref, So far as I know a local nursing home has already co-opted their Alzheimer's patients to fold laundry as 'occupational therapy' thereby reducing the need to hire an illegal to perform this duty. I am obviously full of Christmas cheer tonight. Toasting both Jim and Berserker, it was so great to meet both of you in Texas. That was a real act of Independence on my part, can't wait to back next year.

531 Oh. I didn't see your implied sarc tag. My bad. That sounds awful, would be happy to help you fuck over the people that are taking advantage of Alz patients! Would be a fun way to spend my Christmas vacation.

532 I also loved meeting WDS, MHS. Nurse, Jewells, Helena Handbasket and Snail Racer. Snail Racer, I can't remember if you are upper case or lower case, I haven't seen you posting lately, hope all is well. Anyway. if you can get to a MoMe anywhere, please do so, you will meet an incredible bunch of people, I cannot describe it properly. Tonypete and Ben Had, I can't forget either of you.

536 I've been to one Army-Navy game back in 2002. I think Navy won 738 to 0, which sucked since we were rooting for Army. But still, the best American sporting event ever!

537 When I lived in Philly, 1996-1999 then 2004-2006; I went to the Army v Navy game. I always picked up tickets from amature scalpers. Pot luck for my seating. Allways a great time. Highly recommend going. Being there you get to see all the videos produced by varrious units, durring the tv timeouts. That alone is worth it. Saw "W" buzz the stadium in AF1, well before the game. Always cold as hell.

538 Am from United States. I was diagnosed with Herpes early this year in 2021 and the doctor told me herpes has no cure. I kept searching for any possible cure. While searching, I came across lots of reviews on facebook about how doctor DOUGRAY used herbal medicine to cure different people from Herpes and other diseases. I made an order for the herpes cure eraser and I received it 5 days later, I took the medicine for 9 days as instructed. While taking the medicine, I noticed some changes in my body. I used the medicine during the outbreak and the outbreak stopped completely. all the itching and pain was gone completely. When I was done taking the herbal medicine, I went for a test and I was confirmed Herpes negative "totally cured". Before I made an order for herbal medicine, I promised Dr DOUGRAY that if his product actually worked for me I was going to share the testimony through all social media so lots of people can be aware that Herpes is curable. you can contact dr dougray via Email: drdougray@gmail.com
