Saturday Morning Coffee Break

12 11 coffee.jpg

Good morning Morons, 2 weeks to Christmas. Are you set?

***

A couple of things. First, I wouldn't have gone public with this. Secondly, I wouldn't want to stand next to him in a thunder/lightning storm.

A BRITISH dad thought he was going to die after he was attacked by a pack of 20 otters and was bitten 26 times in ten seconds.

Graham George Spencer, who lives in Singapore, said he was chased, pinned down, and bitten by a family of otters while out for an early morning walk in the botanic gardens.

Have a great weekend, enjoy the open thread and be nice to one another.

The Monkees singer and guitarist, Michael Nesmith, has died aged 78. The news chyron here wanted us to know that it was of "natural causes", you know, because we were all thinking that it must have been a heroin overdose,

BTW, Al Unser [Sr.] has passed at the age of 82; and Ralph Tavares, the eldest of the five brothers in the Grammy-winning R&B singing group Tavares, dies at 79.

One of my best memories of childhood is when my mom went all out making Christmas cookies for school events, neighbors and our family gatherings. Pretty much every day in December when we came home from school, she had the entire small kitchen full of cookies, cookie trays, cookie bins and all the ingredients for cookies she was making. I remember her making all sorts of kinds too. The small circle ones with the hershey kiss in the middle, toffee bars, kolache, powdered cookies, gingerbread, you name it. And the yummy smells in the house from all the cookies baking.

Yesterday was the day they handed out turkeys and hams to everyone there, so on the way out I was given both. The ham was particularly large. Round on both ends, like 2 hams! Put them in my trunk, and later that night asked a lady at the gas station if she knew anyone that needed a ham and turkey. She say's well, one girl working said she wished she could make a good holiday meal, but had no money. Enough said, we went out to my trunk and she got the stuff.

135 I'll be ready for Christmas after today. I always decorate about two weeks before - any longer than that and I get sick of looking at stuff. A few lights and a small tabletop tree, I keep it pretty simple. Same with shopping - my Dad is the only person I shop for to speak of, except for some charity buying for the Giving Tree the church sets up every year in December. I'll spend about 20 minutes today decorating, then the rest of the day canning. I have to finish canning the deer I got last week, and I saw a good sale on carrots so I bought ten pounds of those to can as well.

Unseasonably warm here at the Pennsyltucky secret bunker - it was 62 degrees when I got up at 5:30. Rain all day and a wind advisory. It's the last day of deer season and I was hoping to go out and fill my other tag, but it looks like that's not going to happen.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather. My son says it's supposed to be 70 in DC today. I am in Mexico for another week and not looking forward to coming back to winter weather. I have lucked out as weather can be unpredictable this time of year, stormy and windy but so far has been perfect.
People still all masked up here indoors and some crazy Americans still masked outside. I haven't had to wear one since I got off the plane and so far no one's said anything although gotten a few dirty looks.

I *had* to look that up - and actually I now kind of understand it. Marshall was an antifa protestor, he shot some guy who tried to drive through their protest line (slowly) in the back of the head. (badly injured, but survived) Marshall offered to plead guilty to something, didn't want a "crime of violence" on his record. Prosecutors demanded a felony conviction and at least a 10 year sentence, didn't really care what charge got that. This bizarre sentence was their compromise, since both sides were scared of getting a runaway jury that could go either way. Both sides admitted that the charge had nothing to do with what actually happened, and both sides agreed to waive any presentation of evidence.

_________

There was a screaming headline the other day that some Mayo epidemiologist says that 32,000 Americans will die from the virus between now and New Years -- and they don't even know it!!!

Government stats say around 2.85 million Americans die, from a variety of causes, every year. That averages out to around 237,000 deaths per month. So 32,000 deaths in the next month would be roughly 13% of the total deaths we'd normally expect to have in a month. And since everybody who tests positive for covid is now officially dying "from" the virus, even if they have end-stage cancer or some other terminal condition, that number is hardly shocking.

262 Our military has bigger issues than letting college aged kids play football. I say, let 'em play!

The varsity teams on corps squad tables have always gotten special treatment (dispensation on meal times, special academic provisions, height and weight requirements and the like). Offensive linemen don't traditionally fare well on obstacle courses. But that's okay by me. The Corps benefits from the team spirit. USMA rah! rah! and all that.

My friend's late grandmother was like that. She filled her house with Christmas, as it was her favorite holiday. These in turn got kicked out be the ballot and then could be adjudicated. So then the election officials could just type in a) the way they wanted to vote to be or b) a batch of ballot could be voted by allocating a percentage.

343 Prayers for all affected by all the storms last night.

I'm mid-way through putting decorations up this year. By some miracle my outdoor nativity is still lit up even though it rained (last two years it shorted constantly).

My poor Hermione (cat) had a bad day yesterday - I squirted her with water to get her out of the Christmas tree and I yelled at her to get OFF THE ROOF of my indoor creche (She somehow jumped up from underneath and behind the table.). So on decoration watch from unintentionally destructive kitties...

354 Omicron really is a fortuitous event (if the base virus was deadlier.) People should be having omicron catch parties
=====

I guess the other factor here is that it's not dangerous if you catch it as a kid. So regardless of the vaccines and Omicron, I think we were on track for a scenario where:

1. Everybody who's an adult now catches it, at some risk of having serious complications. (Depending on age and general health.)

2. Everybody who's a kid now catches it, and all future generations will catch it, as a kid, at minimal risk of serious complications.

3. And reinfections are much less dangerous.

So the danger is basically over after all the immunologically naive adults catch it the first time, and take their chances.

His Mother and Grandmother got put in prison for a very long stretch (17 years) when he was 11 for trafficking cocaine. He busted his ass to make it despite a terrible upbringing. Played WR for GA Tech at a time when they ran an option offense. Still had numbers insane enough to make the pros.

375 Funny thing with coffee...

For years I drank decaf because of stomach issues. I enjoyed it. But just this last year my oldest needed to pick me up in the a.m., so now I do half-caf. I haven't had stomach problems. I have been drinking it for about 8 months, and literally, I can no longer function in the morning without it!! My head is a total fog pre coffee. Now I died going without. And this is only half-caf. Coffee is a true gift and I hope to never be without.
If Robert is around, we will have a chat! He asked if we will have coffee in Heaven a few nights ago. Heaven will fill all of these desires, but the Book of Revelation says that heaven is the wedding feast of the lamb. I told my kids that I expect a taco cart in heaven! And I am certainly going to enjoy the wine, and now coffee.

Due to the complete corruption of news reporting, is that "3200" an actual head count aboard the ship, or did someone just look up the maximum capacity of the ship?

On top of that, a small number had symptoms severe enough to cause alarm - we don't know what that threshold was. Apparently there was some degree of testing, but we don't know anything about those alleged tests.

We also know nothing about asymptomatic infections, or if it even matters.

As expected, Dread Justice Roberts voted with the other 3 bloodthirsty ghouls in the minority.
Posted by: Sharkman at December 11, 2021 10:53 AM (M8yB3)

wrote some about this yesterday - it looks to me like a "kick the can" decision, putting everything important off until after the Mississippi Decision comes down next year sometime. What was significant is that Roberts joined with the 3 libs to create a 5-4 court split; whenever Roberts does that, he effectively abdicates his authority as Chief Justice, and Clarence Thomas becomes the new De Facto Chief Justice. (most senior Conservative member)

Roberts has some interesting choices to make going forward. Stay with the conservatives, and maintain at least some influence; or openly go with the Left Wing, and lose all remaining shreds of control over what happens.

412 Well a 'real' vaccine should be almost as good as natural immunity. The ability to target at threat populations with them is why we use them.

Do you think no one has ever tried to come up with a vaccine for a respiratory virus? These corona viruses are rather simple so they do mutate, and mutate so fast that it is not possible to make a vaccine.

The folly of coming up with a vaxx for the Moronic variant, or any other after it is out in the wild is giving the middle finger to The Science, common sense and basic human dignity.

The Immunity as a Service in the form of a never-ending subscription to Big Pharma is one of the tools used to ensure life-long slavery.

420 Roberts has some interesting choices to make going forward. Stay with the conservatives, and maintain at least some influence; or openly go with the Left Wing, and lose all remaining shreds of control over what happens.

The Supreme Court is a joke in this generation. The sheer number of 5-4 decisions is the tell that there is no concern whatsoever for the Constitution or Rule of Law.

We all know this. Its yet another political branch that runs by its own rules yet has no way to enforce anything. The Left routinely ignores the courts, and only recognizes it when they insist that their opponents slavishly abide by their bat scat insane verdicts.

421 Instead of a vax for a corona virus which experts knew was undoable they should have concentrated on creating prophylactics to treat the infection. Of course we know of existing prophylactics that seem to work .

422 Kentucky Tornados Update:

A county emergency management official has confirmed that "more than 50" people have been killed as a result of last night/early this morning severe storms and tornados. That number is expected to climb. The record is 71 from 1974 when there was another widespread tornado outbreak.

Also, the national weather service will likely have people on the ground here to determine the points where tornados touched down, their paths and the intensity of each one they survey. Results of that won't be published for several days or weeks as there's a lot of ground to cover.

Here, it's currently 45 degrees (down from 70) with a stiff 15MPH wind out of the west-northwest. There's no visible damage I can see from my property, but I plan on a short drive around the area to see what's what. I'm sorta' amazed we never lost power.

A lot of this realization is simply that everyone is finally accepting reality. SCOTUS openly accepted becoming totally political when Roe v Wade was decided for purely political reasons 48 years ago. We have been fighting that political war for every year of my adult life since; and a big part of this psy-ops war has been ridiculous claims by both sides that "oh now this is about pure Legal Philosophy, this isn't about nasty old Politics."

well guess what, it has ALWAYS been about Politics. Now the Left is furious and scared because after 48 years of effort, the Right has *finally* started to win the political game that THEY started.

the howling about the Court turning "Political" are just the death-cries of their half century long psy-ops games.

I think someone commented here earlier this week sharing that the FOIA requests revealed the e-mails from the "vaccine" companies. In which they talked about the fact that the "vaccines" were really gene therapies, but they knew the average person would reject taking gene therapies, so they called them vaccines solely for the purpose of tricking people into taking them. Because they knew people would be okay with taking a vaccine as opposed to experimental gene therapies.
