Willard: 828 I'm stating the obvious that "hate" cannot be a crime under any serious system of justice. WTF does that have to do with involuntary manslaughter and intending to kill someone? That distinction is about intent to commit the specific crime, or its absence. There have always been aggravating circumstances as a way to shoehorn in various parts of "mindset"....
Posted by: rhomboid at December 09, 2021 07:20 PM (OTzUX) "Hate" is not a crime. But it is an element of a crime. What is a "depraved heart?" We have for thousands of years accepted that what you intend matters when it comes to what we call the crime, and we sentence you to. Clearly people misuse it - that if something happens to a POC then it is by definition a hate crime. No. Socratic question for you: is a teenager throwing a rock at random through a window of a house the same thing as a man who doesn't want people of a certain color living in his neighborhood throwing a rock through the window of a house owned by people of that certain color? The bear attack is very similar to what happened in my neighborhood. One of our neighbohood residents is a helicopter pilot, so she had a blowup helicopter with Santa inside. One morning she comes out of the house, to find the helicopter shredded. There was much tut tutting about the yoots (it's very much an UMC neighborhood, but whatevs), until someone showed Nest camera footage of a bear doing the deed.
This year, the helicopter is back, and beside it is a blowup bear with a Santa hat. Posted by: pep at December 09, 2021 07:34 PM (ZsR3z) 40

blaster, that's girls' gym - easy - I don't care why someone throws a rock through a window. But I think there are already ample devices (such as aggravating circumstances) and other such squishy add-ons, in most jurisdictions, that allow a court or jury to get their righteous anger on.
"Clearly people misuse it - that if something happens to a POC then it is by definition a hate crime. No." Umm .... this is the precise and entire genesis of "hate crime" laws, it's not a possible abuse thereof. It is all they are. When were these laws adopted? 1820s? 1930s? No - 1990s (on the federal level). How did we ever survive without them for 200+ years?? Aren't there statutes in most places making attempting to incite a riot or something a crime? That gets instantly dicey quickly enough (ahemm, hello "January 6 Commission" and President Trump's "inflammatory" address to a rally ....). But those laws are there already. A Maryland woman charged in connection with selling US nuclear submarine secrets to a foreign power wanted to flee the country because she despised President Donald Trump, not because she feared arrest, her lawyers said.
Diana Toebbe and her husband Jonathan were arrested in October and face espionage charges. Prosecutors have argued against freeing them on bail, citing a text message from Diana saying the couple would be "welcomed and rewarded by a foreign [government]." At a hearing on Wednesday, her lawyers presented additional messages to argue she was motivated by disdain for the Republican president, not fear of being caught. Liberal billionaire megadonor George Soros supplied $3million last year alone to a 'dark-money' group supporting left-wing organizations such as BLM that are dedicated to defunding the police, it has emerged.
The Foundation to Promote Open Society, which is one of two major grantmaking foundations funded by Soros' network, Open Society Foundations, funneled a total of $3million in 2020 to the Community Resource Hub for Safety and Accountability (CRH), according to a search of the charity's grant database. Quick perusal of that DOJ thing just reinforces my opposition to "hate crime" laws. Again, these are phrased as discrimination, or civil rights infringement, violations, where there is no violent act/threats of violence (which were already and always and everywhere a crime). And pretty clear this is also just a ticket for DOJ to get further involved in local criminal matters, that's the gist of even the official explanation there.
Well it surely wasn't the religious thing that my friend was involved in during the 90s, there must have been other elements that had die-hard civil rights people rolling their eyes. Don't remember any "hate crime" prosecutions in all those decades from '68 on, but then again I wouldn't be following such. And "anti-discrimination" laws of course had their own instant, ongoing, and well-predicted odious effect of destroying individual freedom and immensely weaponizing the state to enforce whichever racist or other tribalistic fashion du jour with all its power. Insanity has become so much the norm that instances of sanity seem suspect. So, the real question was, is Chicago so far gone that honest verdicts were no longer possible there, or was there still a ray of hope left among the citizenry. So, another hopeful sign. Notice how we're starting to win the small wins, the ones that have been going against us for years? You gotta start winning the small ones before you can win the big one. Definitely prayers up. I'm glad you got her straight to the hospital, the first 2 hours are critical if a stroke is involved. It's been a long time so I've forgotten some of the other potential causes for this when it's sudden onset, but there are other explanations. One I recall was simply not staying hydrated. It's easy to not drink water, and it can have a profound effect on elderly people - very suddenly. I understand the fear of Alzheimer's, my mother died with dementia. The very first sign - besides the just forgetful stuff - was chronological confusion. Things like she'd think something was happening now that happened an hour before. I sure don't want to go that way. Hope it's something simple - and please keep us posted. On top of that, at some point your Mom is going to say, "do this" and you have to make the decision if she understands what is going on That means you have to pay attention and understand what is going on and what the options are, and care for your Mom who has always been the person who said, do this, and you said yes mom. First couple of stops, checked tie downs, all good, maybe worked a bit loose, tightened a bit. I was impressed with what she did next. She went and grabbed a different toy, and started chewing on it, 6 inches from the large dog's face, acting like she was having the best time in the world. But there are also some 37M who did not answer at all whether they had registered or not. If you apportion the did not answer at the same ratio as answered yes:answered no then 87% of those 37M are also registered or another 32M - so some 200M registered voters according to the census. Not really precedent, an actual rule change on judicial nominations in the Senate. And while it might have been useful for a few years, it will now be, well, un-useful. Unless one really thinks a GOP Senate will be much of a roadblock. Possible, I guess, if there's a particularly outlandish SCOTUS vacancy-filling in question - possible - but not all that likely, and even less so for lower courts.
And the idea of a GOP Congress engaging in backward-looking witch trials isn't quite plausible, which is not in itself a bad thing. It's just that they won't be spending their time doing anything useful, in all likelihood, anyway. Not anything other than a 75% radically different GOP, that is. CO in his initial briefing literally didn't mention his mission or much about the activities at the base - he talked only about his conservation efforts and the tremendous wildlife/wetland/etc resources on base property.
A good speaker speaks to the audience in the room. Posted by: tbodie at December 09, 2021 08:20 PM (mE8HP) Yeah, if the CO had talked about Launch Complexes the congressional weenies would think he was discussing a psychological disorder. Posted by: Gref at December 09, 2021 09:54 PM (AMIL/) 549

No, Gref, some of the weenies knew quite a bit about the substantive stuff. I was one. One other who's now a senator didn't, really.

>>Teenage boys are stoopid.
We used to build a luge course every winter on the hill behind our chapel at my college. Took us weeks to build using garbage pails full of water to harden we would drag out every night it and we would ride it with trays we stole from the cafeteria. It was crazy fast with banked turns like a real luge run. There were always casualties. We rode it knowing we wouldn't be the ones to get hurt. Because we were immortal. Oh Gref wasn't taking it personally, never do. I have no idea - but reasonable and dark assumptions - about how it is these days. Back then anyone with any actual background or interest in serious stuff was an exception. We all sort of found each other (rather easily) after a time.
So you're broad assumption wasn't wrong then, fear it's spot-on today (though I know of at least a few exceptions). Posted by: rhomboid at December 09, 2021 10:00 PM (OTzUX) 559

Am from United States. I was diagnosed with Herpes early this year in 2021 and the doctor told me herpes has no cure. I kept searching for any possible cure. While searching, I came across lots of reviews on facebook about how doctor DOUGRAY used herbal medicine to cure different people from Herpes and other diseases. I made an order for the herpes cure eraser and I received it 5 days later, I took the medicine for 9 days as instructed. While taking the medicine, I noticed some changes in my body. I used the medicine during the outbreak and the outbreak stopped completely. all the itching and pain was gone completely. When I was done taking the herbal medicine, I went for a test and I was confirmed Herpes negative "totally cured". Before I made an order for herbal medicine, I promised Dr DOUGRAY that if his product actually worked for me I was going to share the testimony through all social media so lots of people can be aware that Herpes is curable. you can contact dr dougray via Email: drdougray@gmail.com
