The Morning Report - 12/7/21

pearllei.jpg

Good morning, kids. Tuesday and despite our world collapsing in on us, and really because of that sad reality, it's even more important to remember and reflect on the events of 80 years ago today. Today is Pearl Harbor Day. What happened there that day, as well as the declaration of war by Germany against the United States changed the course of history and brought us to where we are today. It is bitterly ironic that in the wake of our absolute military victory and emergence as the preeminent global superpower, the evil that we overcame did not disappear, but re-emerged in only a slightly different form and spent the ensuing eight decades sowing the seeds of our self-destruction from within. No doubt, the Soviets and the Chi-Coms each played and continue to play a crucial role in fomenting the cancer that Lincoln nearly 100 years earlier prophetically warned, If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.

Take a look around and that is exactly what is happening. Little wonder then that the neo-Cultural Revolutionaries are aiming to erase Lincoln with equal if not more zeal than Robert E. Lee or even the Confederate flag. The logic is simple, if not completely insane. Since America was not only never perfect but evil and illegitimate from the outset, nothing that anyone did to redress its greatest flaw, slavery, really mattered. Not the founders who laid the legal foundation for its abolition in 1789, nor the 700,000 sacrificed in a civil war to end it, nor anything anyone has ever done since then to try to live up to the ideals of liberty and justice for all. Therefore, even Abe Lincoln is to be removed from history. But, as is my wont to do, I digress.

The estimable historian Victor Davis Hanson reflects,

Most Americans once were mostly in agreement about what happened on December 7, 1941, 80 years ago this year. But not so much now, given either the neglect of America's past in the schools or woke revisionism at odds with the truth.

The Pacific war that followed Pearl Harbor was not a result of America egging on the Japanese, not about starting a race war, and not about much other than a confident and cruel Japanese empire falsely assuming that its stronger American rival either would not or could not stop its transoceanic ambitions. . .

. . . In sum, it was largely Yamamoto's enormous ego, his tactical genius, and his strategic ineptitude, along with Japanese hubris, that explain the strategic idiocy of a brilliant but short-lived victory at Pearl Harbor. But to be fair, no student of military preparedness, economic resources, or social organization could have ever believed that a relatively vulnerable and isolationist United States, still reeling from recurring cycles of depression, in less than four years would have fought simultaneously across the Pacific and Europe with a 12 million person military, the largest economy in history, and the world's most formidable weapons such Essex class fleet carriers, Balao submarines, B-29 long-range bombers, Hellcat and Mustang fighters and the world's first atomic bombs.

Dr. Hanson's essay is well worth the read as he explodes a few myths and lays out the attack and its consequences. Now 80 years later, America is at best a nation divided and at worst (and if you have been reading my posts for any amount of time you know my feelings) a nation that no longer exists. We have no borders, we have no equal justice under a just and stable law and most dangerously, we are split into two camps that not only disagree on issues but disagree on the legitimacy and nature of the nation itself. While that is happening, China and to a lesser extent Russia are making geopolitical and technological moves that threaten to leave us in the dust and perhaps turn us into dust.

Caroline Glick warns:

Over the past several weeks a hard truth has become undeniable: The United States of America is no longer the all-powerful superpower it has been since the end of the Cold War. Far from it. The strategic implications of this state of affairs are profound, for both the United States and its allies.

A nation's position in the global pecking order is based on two things -- its capabilities and its credibility. America's capabilities have diminished in a stunning way relative to its superpower competitors. And so has its credibility. . .

. . . Together with its allies, the United States is still the most powerful nation on earth. It can still defeat, or at a minimum massively harm, all of its enemies. But whether it is dealing with Iran or China, Russia or Afghanistan or beyond, America's strategic credibility is in tatters. Neither its allies nor its enemies take its commitments or its threats seriously. Consequently, as it lags behind its adversaries in space weapons, the United States projects a weakness of intent that invites aggression against itself, against its interests and against its allies.

The on-again-off-again Conrad Black in this essay is for the most part dead on:

The luxury of having no rival in the world and only the comparative irritant of almost stateless terrorist organizations, which inflict tragic outrages but cannot threaten the existence of great nations, induced the United States into the first bout of self-hate in its history.

Centuries of often excessive but certainly not unfounded self-commendation as a free and virtuous meritocracy, a champion of freedom in the world, that has made the greatest effort of any in history to raise up a subjugated racial minority to a status of equality, have degenerated into an acutely self-critical disorder and caused the United States to detach from its legitimate global strategic interests. . .

. . . The strategic equation is complicated and increasingly dangerous because this administration is so feeble and the U.S. military has been so incompetently directed recently. But the United States is fundamentally a much stronger country than China or Russia, and if it inspires and leads its allies, it is at the head of an overwhelmingly powerful coalition of free states.

We have three more years to muddle through before the leadership that is all that is really lacking, can be installed. It is perilous but far from hopeless.

A lot can happen in three years, Mr. Black. And then there's this little item which kind of made me sit up and take notice:

CHINA has been secretly developing Trojan Horse-style missiles hidden in shipping containers that can be unleashed on enemy ports, experts warn.

Military analysts believe the country's huge fleet of freighters and fishing vessels could be turned into warships with the use of the secretive container missiles. . .

. . . For example Chinese missile launching containers could be stored near the Port of Seattle. The Chinese would wait for the day they can launch an electromagnetic pulse warhead-armed missiles over the nearby nuclear ballistic missile submarine base Fisher said.

"The EMP blast might take out electronics on the [submarines] and all over the base without having to launch a nuclear missile from China," he said. "Washington would be in chaos, would not know against whom to retaliate, and perhaps China uses American distraction to begin its real objective, the military conquest of Taiwan."

Frankly, I think the Chinese, the Russians, the Iranians and every other bad actor out there are wasting their money. People (allegedly) like Rustoleum-hair Nikole Hannah-Jones, Ibram X. Krement, Titty Caca AOC, Nazi collaborator George Soros and the litany of other sick, deranged fiends will be our undoing, aided and abetted by the DC junta so long as they get their $28 trillion pieces of silver.

Assuming we even survive the next three years without any major shifts in the geopolitical map as it stands today, our government and far too many institutions outside of it are so horribly corrupted that even if a Trump, DeSantis or other outsider were to win the White House and the Democrats lost control of one or both chambers of Congress, what real good would it do? And the national rift between American and anti-American citizens will still be there.

With all due respect to all those who fought and perished between 1941 and 1945, the challenge facing us here and now is perhaps even more perilous. And for sure, the situation is still very much in doubt.

35 The primary problem that faces patriot Americans is that we don't have a single enemy we can focus on.

We also don't have the weapons nor is anyone building them (yet) so we have no tools to counter our enemies.

Finally, we don't have someone that can unite all of the patriots into a single force with agreed upon goals that can destroy or eliminate the threat of our enemies. (yet)

Yes yes we can agree on a lot of our enemies but they are still a diffuse bunch with no real single focus to point to as the primary instigator. And that will take a leader to do that. And the tools will have to be crafted to the purpose of taking them out and lessening the threat. As we win, more will join the assault.

I will guarantee that the masks are worse than breathing normal air for 99.9% of the population.

73 The excerpted Conrad Black piece is excellent. But I think he's hanging his hat on 3 years from now, whereas I am not. All of the nefarious cheaters are still in our midst. Elections on the grand scale of the US presidency have proven to be illegitimate. Yes, some states have firmed up the process, and that's good. But the fraud that plagued 2020 hasn't been addressed enough to my liking. On the bright side, one can only imagine what rubble will be laying at our feet 3 years from now. This country is already on its last leg. Thinking we'll hang on for another 3 years is optimistic.

This has long since troubled me. By the time I got to college, I was taught about the 3/5 clause and how it was racist because America hated blacks and loved slavery.

It is impossible to reasonably draw that conclusion. The more you learn about what actually happened, the more I think you *must* draw the conclusion that these people are insane. Slavery is an objectively bad thing, and inherently incompatible with our Constitution. It was also an irreconcilable problem when the country was founded. The founders faced a choice: form a union and make a country, or solve the slavery problem. Either/or. "Both" was not a possible answer. So they erred on the side of union and kicked the can down the road on slavery. The bill for that decision was paid with blood.

But the 1619 stance of "slavery always was and always shall be the basis of this country" is as preposterous as it deeply and deliberately offensive.

My vision for when I came to power was "Federal Building Tuesday." I'd have a wall of the Oval Office painted with a grid, and in each square of that grid would be a federal building. Every Tuesday at 10:00 AM, I would throw a dart at the wall. Whichever building that dart hit would be closed and everyone in it fired followed by the portable physical assets like furniture and vehicles being auctioned and then the building sold or leased.

121 Mr. Black's grandfather was at Pearl Harbor on the USS Raleigh. His grandmother always told the harrowing story of her driving him to the port, flying through the streets, after the first wave of attacks. The explosions and sheer terror. On the way back from dropping him off, she and a 4-year old Mr. Black's mother had to pull over and cower in a ditch as bombs were being dropped everywhere. Mr. Black's grandfather's ship was hit in the 2nd wave and he lay in the water with a broken back for nearly 24 hours. It's so very hard to believe where America is today when reflecting back to that America and what we have now. Sickening. Angering. It's hard to put into words.

Not guilt. Guilt is, I think, not an appropriate response. Regret and anger, perhaps, but not guilt. Your husband was deathly ill. You took him to get help from people who could help him. They didn't fail to help him, they did the wrong thing. Whether they knew they were doing the wrong thing determines *their* guilt - not yours, but theirs.

Thought it may be your lament, that is not your guilt. I also know this won't help, but I am terribly sorry for your loss.

170 Reading JJS American Thinker link about Emma Gometz is discouraging. Her story is a metaphor for the young indoctrinated left, she refuses to hear or read anything about Israel being the most legitimate country in the middle east. Those facts disagree with the fundamental beliefs of her college political world, which is tragically anti-Semitic. Just like her compatriots, she is a victim of group indoctrination, and her mind is closed absolutely to anything contrary.

America's cities - particularly though not exclusively in blue states - are essentially third-world cities now. What marks the third-world city? The absence of a middle class and casual property and violent crime against which there is no effective response. Third-world cities are seas of poverty with islands of almost unimaginable wealth and luxury. Our cities are getting there, with the vanguard in California, particularly San Francisco.

The people who live in those cities will soon find out whether they are actually rich or not. How do the actually rich live in places like Mexico City? They live in fortresses. High-trust construction - materials like wood and glass, the absence of things like gates and bars on the windows - does not exist there in the richer islands. Soon it shall be here. Watch as newer high-end construction is cement and iron instead of wood and glass. If you can afford one of those places - and the guards that go with them - you're actually rich.

My gut tells me that the last 250 years is littered with people and rivals who assumed that "America" was over. Even the essays note that the world assumed that America could not mobilize to the extent it did in 4 years. There were plenty of German sympathizers at the time.

The Soviets made the same assumption in the 70s, and I recall watching the Ted Kennedy's of our country try to surrender to the Communists.

Might be me wanting to be optimistic, but I don't think that a country that embraces the Let's Go Brandon meme in days is quite ready to give up to the globalists, medical mafia, and Antifa/BLM.

But not restarted for the first time. I don't know how far back the active US government partnership in the modern slave trade from Latin America goes, but it definitely goes back as least as far as Bush 43, with a notable pause of a few years under Trump.

217 Julie Kelly is a heroic writer. You just know she is under constant investigation and the DOJ is trying to intimidate her every day. But she is unafraid, and publishes truth. She is really a heroic American.

Court filings detail shocking instances of police brutality including the use of a noxious gas that caused people to vomit and pass out; beatings by some officers using weapons and their own fists; and at least one officer dragging Boyland's lifeless body, face up, back through the tunnel to hide her from public view until paramedics arrived.

If the footage is released, new questions will be raised about police misconduct and whether the use of suffocating chemical sprays and excessive force, not a drug overdose, killed Rosanne Boyland.

218 Seems like gas prices stabilized or even went down slight for a week or so , probably due to omicron panic and squandering of part of our strategic oil reserve. Now looks like they are back on the rise as normal people aren't responding to the fear as needed and bidding for 50 million barrels released ended a couple days ago and it's effect on prices will end.

The release of the SPR oil, in part was due to mandates established by Congress and in another large part due to the Left who want to create a crisis when wind fails and the grid is challenged.

FERC has a policy of discouraging storage of fuel for power plants to deal with winter storms. This results in Regional Transmission Organizations lacking any real backup or strategy when power demand increases. No on site storage relies on other storage, at times the SPR.

The Feds control the SPR, draining it such that it is less flexibility when there is an emergency. Just your usual habitual sedition.

We need more of the sovereign/Western "resistance fighters" to find at least some common causes against the overthrow of our Western governments.

Australia/NZ are still in Five Eyes, yet have gone full "Fascist/Commie/Globalist", harming our efforts against China. Canada no help, Great Britain not very free, US run by the Junta. This is likely partially true. I doubt, however, the coming slaughter will be an actual genocide. It may be framed that way initially, or in specific areas, but it won't be such in reality. White people as such, probably have little more to fear than Asians or Latinos. It will be a democide, not a genocide.

272 One of the stories that I keep thinking about is that guy in Loudoun County who's daughter was raped. He goes to hold the school board accountable, an American tradition dating back the Fanueil Hall.

And he gets arrested and the state AG personally gets involved to prosecute him.

These are the kinds of incidents that move the slow to anger (as Jack said) citizens to become angry and ready to make changes. We saw a lot of that in school board elections across the country.

I know many of us have decided elections don't matter, but the general population doesn't think so yet. This is why I was a wait and see attitude. It takes an election cycle or two for the voters to make their will known.

If the elections are stolen 2 or 3 cycles in a row, then I don't think the normal Americans will just sit back and let it happen. They never have in the past.

The Chinese won when it bribed and coopted our political and economic leaders. A nation that basically owns the other's president, Biden, and legislative "opposition" leader, McConnell, has carte blanche to maltreat its puppet state. After all, the country that controls your antibiotics production controls you.

Ultimately the United States was lost at its southern border. People who were actively encouraged not to assimilate and to hate the United States became, if not an outright majority, close enough to control the country.

The Chinese just had to mop up.

This would be analogous to Pearl Harbor only if FDR and the military and corporate leadership had used flashlights to guide the Imperial planes into Pearl.

Here's the thing: I'm deeply interested in naval history. I have never - not once - seen VDH cited in support of anything. The very rare references you see are, frankly, derisive. And that has nothing to do with politics.

The Other Greeks was a great book. The decline started with Carnage and Culture. He can be tremendous, but he's spreading himself too thin. When it's for an overtly political reason, OK. But here? I don't get it.

I know. I don't doubt their desire - and the increasingly likely outcome - to slaughter millions upon millions of people. My statement is not that they don't want a genocide-scale slaughter, only that (like most of the purges, pogroms and slaughters that have preceded it), it is unlikely to be racial as a primary motivator as opposed to class or belief. Democide or ideocide are more likely. That doesn't mean fewer corpses, it is just a difference in motivation.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, is that once you accept the premise of crazy, any sense of rationality goes completely out the door. We simply don't know who's out there in the woodwork ready to become the next Great Reset Ambassador and personally approve of mass killings.

There will be Great Reset-inspired famines, for sure. But what happens when small militias create checkpoints like was done in Chicago and Minnesota to funnel people into the cities and the mayors do nothing, lest they be accused of racism? What happens when cities become so dire from the hunger they declare war on the surrounding suburbs? There's just too many unknown variables to stop Africa-style warfare, and when it happens, the death toll will be extreme.

306 What truly saved America's bacon during World War II and allowed it to become the Arsenal of Democracy was in the two years Europe was embroiled in war, American industry and government started setting things in place to meet those needs and of the US military.

The Two Ocean Navy act was the true key to winning in the Pacific because this is when the US broke from the London Naval Treaty that it had honored even as Japan broke it.

This is what resulted in CV-8 USS hronet being built along with the start of designing and building the Essex class of carriers. Fletcher class destroyers were already joining the US Fleet when Pearl Harbor happened. Same with the Atlanta class cruisers. The flood of material was already starting.

August 1941 witnessed the first flights of the Grumman Avenger. The Vought F4U Corsair by Pearl Harbor was already flying and exceeding 400mph.

Still it was a near run thing.

Posted by: Dave in Fla at December 07, 2021 09:05 AM

What exactly can normal Americans actually do instead of just sitting back and letting it happen?

Normal Americans went and protested at the Capitol in January of this year and look what happened. FBI hunted them down, some were arrested and thrown in prison, some were killed under bridges in full view of the media who did nothing, some have been tortured for months in prison and everything has been covered up by the media, social media and both parties in the US government. And the intelligence agencies to this day are still performing false flag ops.

Serious question... what exactly do you mean by normal Americans aren't going to sit back and let it happen? As we've seen for the past 22 months with COVID policies, that is exactly what normal Americans have been doing, sitting back and letting it happen.

That 75% or more of whites are going to survive what's coming. I do suspect that white people will make up the lion's share (proportionally) of the murder victims, but it isn't going to be about expunging whites in the way that Germany's was about expunging Jews or Rwanda's was about expunging the Tutsi. It's going to be about cementing absolute terror and control among all who engage in wrongthink. The people who will be designing these actions don't actually hate whites. Their stooges certainly do, but not the architects. They hate free men as a rule, and it is the men who are free or long to be so who will be sent to mass graves.

325 So the New Jersey legislature tried to impose a vaccination mandate for members of the state Senate and the state Assembly to enter the State House. The GOP minority is seeking an injunction against the mandate in court (they won a TRO so far). The Democrat majority was unsuccessful in persuading the state police to enforce the mandate earlier this month.

Now, Governor Murphy has called out the NJ National Guard to construct what appears to be vaccine check points and a cordon at the State House. IMO this presages an eventual attempt by Murphy to create / enforce a NJ state vaccine mandate.

349 The people who will be designing these actions don't actually hate whites. Their stooges certainly do, but not the architects. They hate free men as a rule, and it is the men who are free or long to be so who will be sent to mass graves.

The architects will certainly aim for "some" amount of slaughter, but one, or a group of, the "stooges" will rise up and commit unfathomable crimes, while the architects simply cover up the atrocities. And when starvation kicks in the cities and an architect decides that simply the act of having food is a symbol of whiteness...

My point being: it will start as a democide, and as things get more and more crazy, it will progress to full-on genocide. I try to focus on the overall outcome than mapping out specific steps.

And btw, I am not 'You Don't Want to Know' under a sock, but whoever you are, thank you for the wonderful author recommendation.

358 First of all, the coof shot is not a "vaccine" in the traditional sense, no matter how many times the CDC changes the definition of the word...

Posted by: Flyover. at December 07, 2021 09:30 AM

I just received an e-mail from Michigan Blue Cross Blue Shield telling me to get the "Flu Vaccine". I have never heard it called that until these past 2 years after COVID.

I also did not know before the era of COVID misinformation where - I have needed to do a ton of research - that "the flu shot" does not immunize against "the flu". It only immunizes against certain strains of influenza. And "the flu shot" is based on a best guess o the strain that may be circulating in any given year.

They are doing the same thing with the COVID "vaccines". Saying get "the vaccine" to protect from COVID, when the "vaccines" were developed only to the original strain. And so will not protect anyone from variants. Similar to "the flu shot". But no one in the "healthcare" industry bothers to explain any of this. It's just "get the shot, because we say so!"

Schumer made his usual partisan, spike-the-football speech excoriating McConnell and the GOP, and Mitch said that he wouldn't cave to Schumer again. They know exactly which strings to pull with McConnell. He is the weak link and needs to go.

In an era where there are no people left with courage in Washington, McConnell is the biggest caitiff. We will have no liberty left if it's up to loathsome characters like him.

And yes. lots of maths. but I have junior engineers to work that shit now. you should see their head explode when I force them to balance a new design airframe requirements vs. performance.

362 NEW - Germany: Father shot his wife, 3 children, and himself after employer found out he had forged his wife's #COVID19 vaccination passport (BILD)

Posted by: redridinghood at December 07, 2021 09:29 AM

Had something similar happen in my neighborhood when I was a kid back in 1989-1990 or so. Over financial issues, IIRC. Father killed his wife and kids, then stabbed himself in the stomach and set his house on fire. He was rescued and survived. Mother was well known and very active with Mother's Club in my Catholic grammar school. Lived less than a block from the school. My mom's friend went over that morning to ask for something. Father answered the door and told her that she wasn't available to talk. She didn't think anything of it until later, realizing that they were probably already dead when she was at the door.

I had a bit of a tough time as well as the son called me up the day before asking if I could take over his altar boy duties for the week. I said no, because it was the 6am mass and I had no interest in getting up that early that week. I realize now his dad forced him to do that, knowing he was going to kill him.

367 With the Chinese Trojan Horse missile system, conceptually, it's nothing new. Reagan began a shell-game ICBM strategy using boxcars instead of cargo ships. Launching from a mobile platform is tremendously difficult. Both the launcher and the missile are not very happy to perform optimally when the base isn't solid. The railcar system proved to be possible but very tricky. How the Chinese managed to overcome a rolling deck at launch (much less protecting the nuclear cargo on raging seas) makes their threat a little less plausible to me. This is in addition to the physical size of our ICMBs at the time -- requiring the boxcar to be considerably larger than a standard one, hence easily detectable from satellites. A shipping container is a bit smaller still, so spotting one that would necessarily be twice as long and require a crew of specialists to fire make the element of surprise a little more difficult, though not impossible -- if we had an intelligence outfit trained on the Chinese rather than the GOP.

Either way, the whole thing makes China a bit more than "competitors" as our paste-eater-in-chief claims.

370 113...My vision for when I came to power was "Federal Building Tuesday." I'd have a wall of the Oval Office painted with a grid, and in each square of that grid would be a federal building. Every Tuesday at 10:00 AM, I would throw a dart at the wall. Whichever building that dart hit would be closed and everyone in it fired followed by the portable physical assets like furniture and vehicles being auctioned and then the building sold or leased.

376 I hate the claims that people make that Japan was justified in sneak-attacking America because America had put in place a trade embargo against Japan.

Trade embargos, sanctions, etc, are not acts of war. They do not justify sneak attacks without declaration of war, and Japan was 100% in the wrong, 100% committed the first act of war, and 100% started the war.

Essentially, it boiled down to America saying "hey Japan, we aren't ok with what you're doing with China, and with your aggressive, expansionist policies and actions, so we won't sell you oil until you stop". That's not an act of war.

People claiming that the US started the war because they said that are morons. They are essentially saying that we should have continued to support Japan in it's genocidal conquest of China, and choosing not to do so was an act of war. That's stupid and wrong.

380 In fairness, Yamamoto did not want to attack the US. He knew Japan could not win a long war and told the General staff. They did not listen.

Among the GoFos of Japan, Yamamoto knew the potential of the US better than the rest.

Posted by: Quartermaster at December 07, 2021 12:20 PM (J0tKB)

381 Hanson is an idiot. Yamato was a genius. He knew Japan could not beat the USA but as a good servant of the emperor did the best he could given the daunting task he was given. He delivered a brilliant attack that crippled the US fleet. I doubt anyone could have accomplished more. For the next six months as he predicted he delivered a brilliant series of stunning victories.

But rest assured Hanson could have done better. LOL.

If Yamato had subordinates as capable as he was daring the Japanese would have accomplished more. But his subordinates seldom delivered even when on the cusp of dazzling success. Hanson analysis is nothing short of what I've come to expect of him. Conventional, limited, short sighted, and lacking in any real insights.
