Not Your Father's MAD Magazine Jew vs. Jew
On Friday July 16, I moved across the country and into a Moishe House, one of a network of communal Jewish houses in cities including Boston, New York, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh. On Thursday, July 22, my two roommates asked me to move out. What could possibly have gone that wrong in less than a week? Before answering that question, let me explain why I wanted to live in a Moishe House. Judaism was the foundation of my childhood. As a child, I attended Jewish day school and Jewish summer camp and regularly celebrated Shabbat and the Jewish holidays. Some of my most enduring childhood memories are at the Shabbat dinner table, where my parents and their friends would discuss world affairs and important societal issues. There were always multiple viewpoints expressed. My mother is a rabbi, and my parents always taught us that such disagreements were the essence of living Jewishly—to argue, as the rabbis taught, for the sake of heaven.Unfortunately, when Mr. Katz' roommates found out that he was a conservative (politically) Jew, they kicked him out of the house. His appeals fell on deaf ears, and it seemed that Moshie House would not be the community he was looking for, where “disagreements can be overcome through dialogue and respect for each other.” Left-wing Jews baffle me. First of all, most of my Jewish friends are Conservative to Orthodox (religiously), or at least conservative politically, so I don't really know any. The best I have been able to figure out is that these folks are ethnically Jewish, but religiously they are Progressive. What puzzles me is why. There has never been a left-wing regime that I am aware of that doesn't look for scapegoats when times get tough, and there's never been one in anyplace that has more than a sprinkling of Jews that didn't latch onto them first. I guess they think it'll never happen to them, but if they get the world they want, it will happen to them. They are exactly the same as those “LGBT for Palestine” idiots you see marching in pride parades. Dude, when a Palestinian invites you up to the roof to talk things over, it ain't because he wants to enjoy the view of a magnificent skyline while calmly discussing your differences. Worst of all is that because there are many prominent members of the woke political community that happen to be Jewish, it's creating a rising tide of antisemitism among young people rebelling against wokeism. I see it all the time. People, especially young people, are recognizing the idiocy and danger of authoritarian Progressivism. There's a backlash forming, and these should be people that we can reach out to, to help them understand why Progressivism is evil, and why limited government and personal responsibility is a much better option, but there's an ugly strain of antisemitism woven throughout the backlash that is utterly repellent.
I lost touch with the Jewish community during high school and college, and after graduation I yearned for a Jewish community made up of my peers. I hoped that living in a Moishe House would allow me to reconnect with the Jewish community in a meaningful way.

Any Jews remotely connected to that event had to deal with the army of Vespasian and Titus that laid siege to the city and eventually smashed its way inside to punish the Zealot rebels (and everyone else) in 69-70 CE. I would like to add a #3. Many liberal and "progressive" Jews left religion and religious as opposed to ethnic identity behind in the early to mid-twentieth century as they climbed the societal ladder. It was their way of "blending in" with the liberal and "progressive" Whites (who were also abandoning their religious identity), appearing to be non-threatening and inclusive. Apparently it didn't work in convincing Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan though.

I don't know any actual Red Diaper types from communist countries, but most of the Liberal Jews I know suffer from what I think of as Dubya Syndrome.
Just like Dubya thought all he had to do was get rid of Saddam and the Iraqis would miraculously turn into freedom loving, peaceful honorable citizens, my Lib Jewish friends ( who are everyone of them very successful professionals) think that if you just help people who come from unfortunate backgrounds or whatever, that they will in turn be successful, law abiding citizens...because they think everyone is going to be able to do what they have done.
I know more Conservative/Orthodox Jews than Liberal Jews, and I agree that most of them aren't practicing Jews, but some are.

I was pretty young - grade school - when I first was introduced to the idea of "the Jews killed Jesus." (You heard that kind of thing sometimes in 1950s Oklahoma.) Even then I figured out why it was so dumb. First, the gospels seemed clear to me - it was some Jews and the Romans conspiring to kill... another Jew and his Jewish followers. Jesus was teaching Judaism, on the whole. But, second, I never was able to accept any what ya call group guilt. All Jews killed Jesus. All whites are slavers. Um, no.
I've always thought the real political antagonism to Jesus was well put in Louis Cassel's small 1970 book, This Fellow Jesus, one of the books I always keep handy:
"So they [religious leaders and political authorities] decided, with that bland disregard for individual rights which is the hallmark of all well-established Establishments, that they'd better get rid of the troublemaker."

As I understand it (and I could be wrong, I am definitely no Christian scholar), Christian faith teaches that the only way to be saved is through belief in Jesus as Savior. Which I think means that anyone who doesn't end up holding that belief before they die, is not saved.
Since I think the Jewish religion does not profess belief in Jesus as Savior, wouldn't Christians want to try to save Jews (not be angry at them) by convincing them to believe? Or is the belief that Jews are God's chosen people mean that Jews are saved no matter if they believe in Jesus or not?

It's a 50-50 district, and I don't think redistricting changed that very much. It combines deep blue college town Eugene with deep red rural southern Oregon. DeFazio kept winning with incumbency, a reputation as a moderate, and excellent retail politicking.
A Democratic left-winger pretending to be a moderate has already announced that she is running, but my expectation is that a Republican will win it next time.

These large companies are probably counting on people like me being unable - or unwilling - to bring a lawsuit against them. And they are probably right.
But that may change if there are enough people who refuse the vaccine and refuse to submit exemptions and end up getting fired.
Or these companies know something we don't and have some knowledge that the suspension of the government mandate is not going to hold and will be back in effect next year.

Yeah, I would remember how Christians are described relative to them, and keep some humility, too. The parable of the rich man's banquet-His friends turned him down so He sent His servants out into the streets to pick up whatever riff raff they could find just to fill the banquet hall. And I think in Romans, Paul talks about the scale of the Christian church, while The Lord loves each of us individually, is largely about making the Hebrews jealous in order to eventually draw them back.

Actually, the rulings by the courts are piling up plus the fact that most OSHA emergency mandates have lost in court is probably going to doom it. Cleveland Clinic has now suspended the mandate for example. It becomes easier for the courts to stop it as Biden's popularity drops and public resistance is kicking in.
The problem is that one or two and done is now becoming 3,4,5 etc. which is like rolling the dice on bad side effects each time.
I would worry more about what a state mandates as states have plenary power to enact measures for health, safety, and welfare which is what Jacobson v. Mass was about.

I've just noticed it recently. I always ask why don't you like Jewish people? They take it back and look embarrassed. I think some people don't like someone for some other reason and then say well they are Jewish. I don't like that at all. It seems to me they grew up hearing parents say that.

I was raised Catholic. Catholic mass every Sunday, Catholic grammar school and high school. And I don't remember ever hearing anyone have bad opinions about Jews (or anyone for that matter). So I have no idea where that attitude comes from.
I remember watching the movie "School Ties" with Brendan Frasier. The bigotry by the characters in the movie just shocked me.

In all fairness, I doubt there were any Jewish people in a 2 hour radius from my childhood home, so that may be why it was unknown to me.
It was a shock to me to read about it. I still don't know anyone who has anti-Semetic views, although I do know plenty of racists.

Go read Matthew 23:29-39. If you want a direct prophecy by Christ that the Jews would murder him, read the Parable of the Tenants in 21:33-44.
Jim said that it was Satan, Jesus Christ, in Matthew 17:22-23 says that it will be done by "the hands of men".
But to answer your question, it is all deserved and it isn't just Christians, it will be everyone: Matt 12:28-42. Jesus also says that the Jews will relentlessly hate, persecute and murder Christians (10:16-23).
So it is rather odd to see accusations at Christians, when it is very clear in Scriptures who is doing all the hating and killing.

I mean, from a Christian perspective... all our scriptures were written by Jews. Ain't no Bible without the Jews.
Most Christians believe that Jesus is the God of the Old Testament as well as the New. I.E. the Jews are the chosen people of the Lord.
If He chose them... well, who am I to say anything against it? He came as a Jew. He was sent to the Jews first. In fact, Jesus declined to help out a gentile woman, for a time, saying He was only sent to the Jews. She talked Him into it, though.
Look, it is pretty clear that despite the Jews crucifying Him, He still holds them in His hand. Else why do they still exist, despite all the scattering and persecution? In fact, the promised gathering of Israel surely has begun. The Lord's promises to the Jews will be fulfilled. He didn't make many to the Gentiles.
The fact lots of Jews are stubborn and not religious seems... well, rather on point for them, as any cursory read of the Old Testament and the repeated backsliding of Israel reveals. If God can put up with it, then who am I to say otherwise?

Tammy, I worked summers for USDA doing interviews during my schooling and yes, we went into some pretty shady places when doing area surveys and was trained to avoid booby trapped mj fields and meth cookers--way back in the hollows.
But ironically, a lot of the meth labs are in suburbia now. Some guy around a major city near where I live actually had the meth cooking away in his trunk. They had to shut the interstate down when they stopped him with hazmat required to dispose of the products.

Not quite. Phone is still kaput. Was too old to ever have had backup service. What limited backup function Verizon did have for those old phones has been discontinued it seems. (Why not? Who still uses a dinosaur?)
Today explored Verizon's site and found call and text logs for last 30 days with numbers. Have copied down and ID'd all but 2 numbers. Looks like I have all the most important and most used numbers. Also found how to send/receive texts from my laptop when logged in to Verizon's site.
Also explored options for bringing them a phone to add to my service. But their website is quite awful to get the info I need so am planning a visit to their store tomorrow. Website said I could NOT keep using my current phone number on a newly added phone.
Then, I will compare what I learn there to new service by TING and choose.

Fair warning. It's one of the tracks I use to torture test hi-fi audio components. The drum-warping on it is strong enough to blow out inferior speakers if driven by a quality amplifier. Tests the midrange and highs, too. Just, no vocals. Those are different tracks from different CDs, of course.

I can see it starting to slip at work, where we're required to mask due to OSHA guidelines (not sure if it's Federal OSHA or CAL/OSHA). But we *will* get in serious trouble if a county health inspector stops by (and they do, occasionally) for a check and finds people not wearing their masks. Unless they're in an office, by themselves, with the door closed.

But the iPhone is great. It's consistent, the audio is super (I'm half deaf and can hear callers perfect and the can hear me) and the reception is far superior to the Alcatel.
All mapping and tracking are turned off, I use no apps from the app store. I've neutralzied it down to user phone functions except for calendar and contacts.
Until they come up with a user friendly Librum/Librex/Pine phone it'll be this iPhone for me.

I checked Indiegogo. Seems all the "early bird" promotions are fully subscribed. Retail is $899. But it runs your choice of three OS's, Lineage, Ubuntu Touch, and one other. Does not have to be Android at all. I like the keyboard feature much.

I've got esophageal stricture, it's a genetic thing where the throat narrows as you age and it can cause swallowing problems. My mom had it.
Anyone else familiar w/ this? I'm wondering about tips to alleviate a blockage...warm water better than cold water?

I would think that warmth would soften up any obstructions as opposed to anything cold.

Sorry but I'm out of fucks on that front, as is nearly every personal conservative acquaintance I can think of. Some of them even Jewish.
For years I have spoken up against those painting with too broad a brush, and I still do - but the Jewish left specifically has honestly earned whatever they end up getting after this. Their shitty behavior is too consistent, too wide spread, and just plain too fucking depraved to get a pass. And they need called out for hiding behind and identity every bit as much as the jihadis.
