6 My general assessment from the trial is Leftists have their heads in a bubble so we're shocked by the verdict.
But politicians who should have know better hate you for the right to defend yourself and foil their plans for public unrest.

10 Not doing the traditional family gathering. Kinda sad really, but I still want the turkey and all of the fixings.

I work Thursday morning so it's just easier to do it while I'm sitting around here this weekend

Posted by: My Life is Insanity at November 20, 2021 06:09 AM (Z/jzm)

11 Skip, how would the verbiage be different from what we've been hearing (so far)had the verdict gone the other way?

I get the sense that the news outlets and usual suspects have all the talking points canned and ready to go for different contingencies?

Best Administration evah!!

Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice. Asymptomatic raycist at November 20, 2021 06:16 AM (3D/fK)

17 Pre-sunrise, folk,

Got almost enough sleep last night, and am drinking coffee while the best episode of the George Reeves Superman, "Five Minutes to Doom," is on. Chekov the Ailing Codger Cat is here, waiting for his first breakfast -- he gets several small meals throughout the day now. And I have a slew of errands to run before we head to Cracker Barrel tonight so Linda can enjoy their turkey menu.

But: Kyle is NOT GUILTY!

I mentioned this last night: "Rittenhouse" seemed German, so I looked it up. "Ritter" = "knight" (!), and "haus" is of course "house"; so it's possible that "Rittenhouse" (altered over centuries from "Ritterhaus") = "knight's house," or "castle"!

21 How much of the seemingly endless, ever continuing national Rorschach Test is based on legalities?

For example "Protest" vs. Riot. Because this seems to be a real problem for those on the left. Protest and 1st Amendment seem to be difficult concepts to master. Free Speech, to my way of thinking, doesn't involve burning down a used car lot, destruction of taxpayer purchased city properties, and so forth. Yet they insist on "It's OK when we do it."

Or put another way, what the hell do they think is going to happen when they do that?

Posted by: Common Tater at November 20, 2021 06:29 AM (1Zi6N)

22 "Free Speech, to my way of thinking, doesn't involve burning down a used car lot, destruction of taxpayer purchased city properties, and so forth. Yet they insist on "It's OK when we do it."

The whole "state lines" bit of agitprop is directed at the FedGOV Deep State operatives in the "DOJ" to activate and do what they do best, conjure up bullshit federal charges against Rittenhouse.

JJ linked to an article in his stack yesterday. It was long. But it was really interesting.
https://tinkzorg.wordpress.com/2021/11/02/2740/

Distilled down. What the article says is that with Pearl Harbor, the Japanese had a plan to take out the USA. Why they did it, and why that might have worked, and why it failed.
This author draws an analogy with the FBI/CIA/ Twitter/Facebook/ ABC/Fox News, Fauci/ Dominion etc effort to take down Trump. And that there MAY be some effort by us to fight back.

You are so right. A small battle was won. But we are still in deep trouble.

44 We keep being told that the recent trial in Kenosha has nothing to do with race. Not true at all, it has everything to do with race. In defending himself, Kyle Rittenhouse not only exposed what filthy scum the BLM/Antifa militias are composed of, his act gives them a reason to think that their officially sanctioned violence has a logical end point. They, BLM and their Marxist handlers want, need really, unopposed opportunity for violence and destruction.

46 Same folk who will burn down a city and claim Freedom of Speech will insist that a kid with a MAGA hat on deserves to get beat up.

Well that's exactly correct. The thing with insanity, people can get to their crazy notions in their minds with their own logic, it all makes perfect sense to them.

But the city fathers and city mothers and captains of industry, and the press have played a crucual role in furthering the insanity. Where were the Democrats when then-candidate Trump for example was simply having primaries or rallies.

Remember Professor Bike Lock? Merely expressing support for a candidate in public was sufficient provocation to kill. Shouldn't they have roundly denounced this kind of thing?

Instead we got crickets. No, worse than crickets, we got tacit approval. And it's just snowballed since then. 100% gaslighting since then. YOLO goes both ways, does it not?

It is indeed a dangerous game they play, and seems really stupid.

51 I was at a holiday gathering last night (truly Festivus like) and I was struck by the mix of people quietly celebrating Kenosha with known like-minded friends and the group of people feigning quiet outrage. And then to see the vitriol from the left, not unexpected of course, but the dangerous addition of "white supremacy" to everything they say is as corrosive as acid to society. Bad times ahead.

My first Christmas as a newly wed was a financial shock. Never marry a woman from a large family who wants to buy a present for everyone. Her hand was out more often then a panhandler on a busy street corner. Then the credit card bills came rolling in in January. She thought I was wealthy, while I knew otherwise.

85 We can see that Millian was but one of a parade of FBI assets sent toward Papadopoulos, but perhaps the most potentially compromising. That Millian was working for the FBI would explain why he would not be a source for Steele, from whom the FBI wanted distance for the sake of deniability. Thus, Dolan conveniently became the real source, while the seemingly Russia-connected Millian was the false front for the dossier.

It took 'four dead in Ohio' to remove the violent aspect of the anti-Vietnam War Movement. The people who had legitimate concerns about the value of the war said, 'Screw this, not worth getting shot over' and stopped attending rallies.

Which took away the cover for those who wanted to burn down buildings.

History has a way of repeating. Those who do not learn from it are destined to annoy me.

Thanksgiving - five hours of preparation for a thirty minute meal. Not counting the shopping, the table setting, or the clean up afterwards.

Prep is easy here. The only family I have left is my Dad, so our Thanksgivings are small. Go out for coffee in the early AM, then put the turkey in around noon or so. Thanksgiving has become "movie marathon" day for us the last few years. Last year, we watched about 8 hours worth of Three Stooges shorts. Year before that was classic 1930's monster movies - Frankenstein, The Mummy, and Dracula. This year is going to be John Wayne. We're planning on Red River, Rio Bravo, and The Searchers. Once the turkey is done, we make some Stove Top and some instant mashed taters and have a nice, small dinner. I look forward to it all year.

Not surprised. The Biden vote stayed close enough to the Trump vote that the Democrats Great Steal strategy could actually work. Thats the amazing part: a doddering old fool stayed in the game. I ascribe this to the nonstop propaganda, and the complete dedication of national Democrats to ending the Republic.

Democrats in Congress felt zero compunction twice impeaching Trump over obviously false charges to undermine the 2016 election. This was treason, and - with the help of the IC - it is still ongoing.

127 Thoughts on pessimism vs hopefulness at current events, touching on the themes in that long piece referenced yesterday by jj;

"There is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood leads on to fortune.". That may not be strictly logical, but it has long been observed to be True.

All through 2020 the tide was against us, we all felt it. Our enemies were in ascendancy, and everything we did to oppose them failed. Optimism was foolish in the face of that.

But the tide has turned, as it always does. The change happened around August; we can debate exactly why it switched then, but we can all feel it. So be it good cheer! Being worried about the final outcome now is like being overconfident in 2020 - a mistake. Now just like America in 1942, there is a lot of pain and destruction coming in the next 3 years; but the final outcome is assured.

Maybe it would call attention to the fact that there was an actual trial with evidence and witnesses and such. Jurors had to be persuaded beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution couldn't make their case, and that adds to the legitimacy of the verdict. Instead of just going on feeelzz, which is what the left wants to do.

157 when that prosecutor got up there and said everyone gets a beating now and again, that would have been it. Not guilty, next.
_____________

Everyone (white) should take a beating. Rather than use a gun on their attacker. That was basically the same shit a lot of people were saying in the Zimmerman case. He shouldn't have shot Trayvon Martin just because Martin jumped him, was on top of him beating him MMA-style and slamming his head on the concrete sidewalk. Trayvon Martin didn't have a gun, so it wasn't faaaaaiiiiiirrrr for Zimmerman to shoot him. Z should have just taken the beating from Martin.

That clown-haired idiot Hannah-Jones tweeted out this very shit yesterday, after the verdict. Said it was more "white supremacy in action" just like in the Trayvon case, where poor little unarmed Trayvon was forced to fight for his life against an attacker armed with a gun. LOL, these people are beyond parody. Trayvon's shooting wasn't white supremacy in action, it was Darwinism in action: if you're stupid enough to attack and jump a stranger in the dark in a state where many people carry, you're likely to wind up shot dead.

That prosecutor needs to be recalled, removed, whatever legal action is possible. Or am I just being overly sensitive? What would any of you have done?

231 As I understood the testimony Rosenbaum just happened to be there, after his release from the state hospital five miles outside of town. His felony convictions were from Arizona. He had open warrants in Kenosha for assault etc. He told authories he was from Waco, TX.

As I recall, Grosskruetz prior conviction (he has lots of arrests, including for a felony or two, but prosecutors dropped most cases) was from somewhere up near Duluth, about as far away from Kenosha you can get and still be in the state. He also lived for a time in the Milwaukee area, in not-so-beautiful West Allis, iirc.

While Huber is from Kenosha he spent quite a bit of time in the State pen over the years, and had a lengthy arrest record.

#2
He crossed state lines. He lived 20 miles from Kenosha in Antioch, Ill., with his mother and sisters. But his father, grandmother, aunt, uncle, cousins and best friend live in Kenosha. He had a job as a lifeguard in Kenosha and worked a shift on Aug. 25 before helping clean graffiti left by rioters at a local school. There, he and his friend were invited to join other adults who had been asked by the owners of a used car lot in Kenosha to guard the property after 100 cars had been torched the previous night, when police abandoned the town to rioters. Kyle took his gun to protect himself, since the rioters were violent and armed, including, for instance, Antifa medic Gaige Grosskreutz, who lunged at him with a loaded Glock pointed at his head before he was shot in the arm.

True, but that's not really relevant. KR could have his primary residence in Hawaii for all it matters, and he still would not have broken the law in any way shape or form. He was in the state legally, he obtained a firearm legally within the state, and he did not commit any crimes or felonies within the state.

Once you understand Trigger Language it becomes clear why this vapid argument has so much traction.

This is their feeble minded way for people who can't communicate in a structured language with syntax and word definitions attempt to do so with those who can.

"Crossing a border" has become associated with illegal aliens. Therefore, when making an argument against a Red Hat, they see how exercised we get over the border situation, they associate "border crossing" with inherent criminality, they want us to share that emotion with respect to Kyle, ergo, "crossing State lines" is supposed to be their unassailable arguement.

265 The Marxists have spent decades gathering about them an ecpansive array of implacable grievance groups who make demands that no sane person, let alone nation of people, would grant. Looking at the pathetic little march in NYC with the Palistinian flags and shemagh-swaddled melons of hostiles along side the equally hostile LGBT types clearly tells us that. Not that ya'll here needed to be reminded of that. Kyle Rittenhouse killed a couple of their goons and that's an apalling bit of real equity for them.

266 George Reeves Superman,

I read that as "Keanu Reeves Superman".
Which I'd love to see by the way-
A sorta John Wick-afied version of Superman. Not with guns but where he's forced to go after the villains with every single bit of power (and powers) he has with a martial arts hand to hand flavor.

Make it so, Hollywood!*

*Unfortunately, both DC and Hollywood seem invested in tearing down the image of Superman and doing the oddball stories (like Soviet Superman). Zack Snyder in particular couldn't seem to wait to get to "Injustice" Superman where Supes is a tyrannical villain.

So, it's just a dream. A beautiful, beautiful dream.

Maybe I'm just a really slow chopper.

Also, the recipe calls for one clove - one CLOVE - of garlic for a giant casserole dish that can feed like 20 people. Um no. I use a whole bulb.

There is a mountain peak, popular with hikers, in Phoenix that was long known as Squaw Peak. Several years ago the name was changed, at the insistence of the perpetually-enraged-about-something types, to honor Lori Piestewa, a Native woman from Arizona who was killed in the Iraq war.

Many locals still call it Squaw Peak.

342 Since we live in a post-factual world, it won't do any good, but. "Squaw" is the Indian word for "Woman" in certain nations.

That's it. There isn't anything inherently derogatory about it, unless one might want to drill down into the various aspects of how females were treated by some tribes. No "tribe" around the world has covered themselves in glory in this regard particularly I'd wager.

Hollywood may be to blame as much as anyone for this particular bit of nomenclature being considered "offensive". The etymology of the word has no negative connotation whatsoever.

It's simply a case, like so many others, where people choose to find offense for no reason other than to stir shit up.

343 I'm kinda liking the whole 'crossing state line proves intent' argument.

I don't get it. Living in Texas, it takes dedication to cross state lines, in the East due to tiny states, in order to go grocery shopping and go to work one often needs to cross state lines. Pretty much everyone who inhabits DC is routinely crossing state lines.

Mockery is the best tool, and we can really get under their skin.

NASCAR crowds cross state lines and so to football game attendees, and they ought to loudly chant it at the events.

Any event covered by a CNN or NBC or MSNBC or ABC or CBS or PBS reporter, ought to have correct-thinking people there, with megaphones, crying out "YOU CROSSED STATE LINES" so the mics pick it up.

374 Same with the naming of the Tappan Zee Bridge and the renaming for a sexual predators father.

The "Tappan" part of Tappan Zee was for the local Tappan Tribe who were part of the Lenape. Tappan Zee, was meant to honor both the tribe and original Dutch settlers who arrived in the 17th century. By the way the bridges full name was The governor Malcom Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge. Cuomo just stripped the former governor's name to put his disgraced family name on the bridge.

Whoops. Whoopsie. He trampled a former governor and native Americans to make a vanity bridge for himself.

There are now two bills pending to rename the bridge "Tappan Zee".

I got a waitress to tell me once, yeah that's the coffee but we also add some expresso, the la-crema, something that sounds like that to the coffee too. Diners and ihop places like that the coffee is normal but fancy restaurants spoof up their after dinner coffee I've found. I, and all my colleagues in my department, have been working from home since 12noon on 03/13/20. Going on 20+ months now. But they specifically stated in their documents that even those working from home need to be "vaccinated".

Their reasoning they give out to salaried employees is "we need to use all the tools to fight the pandemic and vaccination is a great tool blah blah blah". Meanwhile, a designer colleague who is part of the UAW sent me the 6-page document their leadership sent them. It outlines all the legalities of different government mandates out there. It also states that those union members who are working from home would not have to be "vaccinated". In the documents we (salaried) were sent, it states that union members are not subject to the company mandate we are subject to. "But we're still in negotiations with the UAW on that".
