Cat Drag Show Cafe

From this account. She found them, she didn't make them.

Saving a drowning, exhausted osprey.

Teaching a cat how to shake hands with three paws.

Dog puts together a makeshift ladder to get a treat from a counter.

I assume this pet tortoise had some reason to move the laundry drying rack from the shade to the sunlight other than to speed the drying of his owner's clothing, but I can't figure out what that reason is.

Grandma bonobo monkey blows raspberries on belly of grandbaby monkey.

Tickling a young chimp until it laughs uncontrollably.

Inman: Open field tackle.

Batter up...! And... batter down.

All dogs doggie-paddle. It's in the name.

This one says, "Nah, brah."

(Osha rules aren't handled in District court, they jump right into circuit courts of appeal.)

So the 6th circuit would have to countermand a standing order that is well-written and well thought out.

God bless the 5th circuit, indeed.

That's not at all what the prosecuting assholes want.

The excuse of "we didn't know!" Is not going to fly because at ANY one of the millions of times they were all reviewing the ultra shitty compressed video, fatlock and cockholster should have announced that this wasn't the correct video instead of pointing at pixels..

If this is the case then mistrial with prejudice would absolutely be available.

We have a thing like that in the Catholic Church. I brought my two labs and made a crack about how they might be living in sin. Priests sometimes don't? appreciate my sense of humor. Also, he was a bit of a neat freak and the dogs, not mine other people's dogs, were pooping all over the parking lot. So the priest wasn't in the best mood.

Also, she really needs to fix that snaggletooth. She's going to hurt someone with that thing.

120 A few days ago, people were complaining about random food staples, like sugar and eggs, being out of stock. Yesterday, went to the locale grocery store to get a gallon jug of distilled water. The shelves were the water was kept was almost completely empty: there was a single gallon jug and a couple of bigger jugs of spring water on the shelves -- that was it. It was stunning to see.

Yes, starting to notice more and more markets facing the shelves. You don't really notice until you're looking for something you want. And I looked at my local (favorite) market yesterday - no turkeys. Not a one. Also, no hams. Beef, yes. Prime rib just doesn't seem very Thanksgiving-y.

121 Speaking of dogs and song lyrics, I highly recommend the ballad of Sir Rastus Bear, aka "Redeemed", which closes Blue Oyster Cult's debut album. Reagan's pronouncement about a government-run Sahara notwithstanding, I assume we aren't really out of water.

So they're waiting on bottles, or they're waiting on filters. I presume both come from China and are sitting on a container ship.

Or the CDL shortage has them prioritizing higher-margin things for trucking... but I can't imagine what's higher-margin in a grocery store than selling a half-cent worth of water for two bucks.

Dogs can do creepy as well. At my old house (brand new, built it) right at the front door there was a light fixture, room above that. Sometimes my dog would just be walking by, look up, stop and growl/bark at the ceiling. Sometimes she'd start getting pretty worked up. The first time it was like "oh you silly dog" and around the 4th-5th time I was "seriously, what is going on?". Since there was a room above - my AV room with a seriously reinforced floor and its own dedicated power - I was sure there couldn't be an animal or something else (plumbing/power) she'd be hearing/sensing. Went on for about a month or so and stopped. She'd still check it out from time to time, but seemed to think whatever it was wasn't there any more.

I'll tell you how. People only have so much time. A doctor has to not only live her life, but do her job, and keep up her credentials. A typical doctor is overworked, so most of her news comes either from her emails, her facility, or her journals.
Each and every one of them is lying to her.

Unfortunately, some people absolutely believe in masks, despite the data and proof it really doesn't help that much, save for idiots that can't cover their mouths when coughing/sneezing. And it really is mostly to keep it from spreading - not keeping it from entering.

Does she wear a fitted mask? At least the NIOSH rated ones have a little bit of science behind them. But not the chinese paper masks.

Sorry about the sofa. I'm even more glad I'm divorced now. I think my ex snapped because of covid. There's a horrific lawn sign in front of the house "we're all in this together", been there since March 2020. Dunno. Is covid bad? You bet. But having almost died from the flu (14 yrs old) and an infection/pneumonia (53 yrs old) it doesn't really scare me that much compared to that. I don't want to get sick, but I don't want my life ruined either. It's not even 1% fatality. Yet we act like it's 10%.

Back when masks were all the rage, I ran some models comparing various geographically-linked cohorts' infection rates with and without mask mandates. Honestly the data didn't provide a whole lot of insight.

If your null hypothesis was "increased rates of mask wearing lowers the rate of transmission" then you could easily disprove it with a handful of patient population samples.

380 I don't sugar coat what I think about all of this. She's a lot more sensitive than I am. To me this whole pandemic has just been like another flu season for me. As a Type 1, if I get the flu I'm usually in the ICU. So all it is now is a double-whammy....something that I've come to accept early in the koof.

The more I look at this year compared to last year, and the increased deaths WITH the vaccines compared to the deaths prior to a vaccine (and when they were counting any and every death as COVID), and how literally nothing seems to be different from then to now other than how things were recorded and moved from the flu, heart disease, stroke column over to the COVID column...

I'm firmly in the camp that COVID exists, and it's a bioweapon that has certainly killed a few people (~6% of the total like the CDC accidentally admitted last year), but overall it's just been a big mindf*ck. It's all been psychological warfare to move us to the next stage of whatever it is that has to happen.

Thats when she was like "we need to be smart and safe for the two weeks leading up to the trip" when I mentioned that she was the one that was around people, patients and ... covering the ECHL hockey games in town (she's the team doc for the local team). "Its ok, I wear a mask when I'm at the game!"

People really do not understand probability so they go to simple rules in or out, black or white, dangerous or not dangerous.

Even fewer people can put together joint probabilities which is why Bayesian analysis (along with faster computers) was handicapped versus frequentivism. People can kinda sorta get bell curves (usually misplacing themselves on it like mythical Lake Wobegon. They do not get joint probabilities linked together for the most part.

539 I thought so too. I stole someone's milk money in 2nd grade so I could get an ice cream. Mom took me to the popo station to talk to them. Not a fun day as I remember.

LOL, similar to me - also 2nd grade, but it was dad who took me and it was $100 (his) i swiped. Kid i knew in class bragged about swiping change from his father. I called "piker" and my dad called "popo". It was actually cool but i didn't want to go back to the station another time so i was good after that.

Yep. FWIW, Fame is - as of a couple of years ago when I went to see some friends - still operational and you can stop in (and cut an album if you're a musician), and you can go down to the rockpile in Sheffield and see the old studios and what not. Neat place to visit if you're ever in the area, and the entire region is growing like crazy. Lots of live music and fun to take in.

I'm pretty sure this whole thing was both sides being too clever by half. No way the defense -- not the lawyers, but their consultants -- didn't laugh as soon as they opened the file and saw the resolution. The fact that they didn't highlight any of the low resolution issues feels like they were setting a trap, but also let the whole thing slide 'cause they felt like the video was more beneficial than not for their case.

628 @604: "A bit more skill than having hundreds of tracks to play with endlessly."

Back when the cost of "studio time" was seriously no joke. Same thing goes with lots of the early Beatles stuff being remastered from mono to stereo for international distribution. They'd book three days of studio time to polish off one full length album conversion, and come away with three or four tracks, and say screw the rest, we'll use what we've got, despite being one of the world's most popular bands. Early-and-mid century music industry history is so weird compared to today where everyone's got crazy good home studio setups now and countless hours to screw around.
