I would hope that this is so far beyond the pale, it would get out. But you're right. I was talking to an old friend last weekend, and she was oblivious to things we all know about. The most obvious stuff. 6 states stop counting votes at the same time. Tens of thousands of Haitians crossing the border. Pfizer using embryonic testing. On and on. Too many rely on their friends, their "newsfeed" and sources like CNN.
I can only hope that more black artists start to wake up and get the news out there - because it's going to take popular culture to sound the alarm. How fucked can we get?

Back when elections mattered, losing 10-12% of the black vote was catastrophic. Now? It's a middle finger to any of those paying attention. They don't care, they don't need to care. 2 - Call me batshit insane but I think in a way this has been a good week. However, something that is absolutely very much really happening is a de facto abolition of ICE's enforcement authority (outside imminent danger and hot-pursuit situations - how nice of them to exclude those!).
Reading over the wailing and gnashing of teeth by good guys who know the DHS/ICE score, the one dominant impression never leaves me. Their reactions, while the correct ones, are almost limp. Their adjectives are tepid. They rarely plainly state how outrageous and fundamental these kinds of things are.
One particularly pathetic thing, an "open letter" to DHS employees, not even sure what it's asking them to do, ends with something about their "conscience". Yeah, uh huh. "Conscience" is going to drive thousands of federal career law enforcement to violate their direct orders. For which they'd be fired by guvamint, and lynched by society (or at least its dominant, malignant institutions and disinformation operations).

I was informed recently that no, Texas' power outage this past spring was NOT due to the feds insisting that a certain percentage of their power had to come from the frozen windmills. Instead, it was due to several factors, one of which is that natural gas, which supplies much of the electrical grid, can actually freeze in extreme weather.

Same here, Fen, to vote against McAwful. I'm hoping for the best for both our states. I've never been able to figure out if it's good or bad that we have gubernatorial elections in off years.

There were indeed several reasons, including freezing of distribution pipes (now preventing that in the future *would* be infrastructure), but Fed overreach was very much a part as well. There's no reason fedgov should be deciding how much energy individual states generate or how they choose to do so.
