57 Today's painting shows us the horrible life allowed to children under President Trump. Even though the (insert unknown gender choice here) on the right is wearing red - signifying allegiance to those MAGA tards - we see the poor background color as a stand in for the unending horror of a good economy and increased income for the lower classes. The (insert unknown gender choice here) on the left is laughing at the slogans the other one is whispering. Knowing full well the return to norms will follow with the election of 2020.

The other day I told a group of kindergarteners the old "what's black and white and read all over?" joke. To my surprise, it was a big hit - I was surprised that they knew what a newspaper was.

Also a great hit on the kindergarten joke list: tell a group of dawdling kids "Hey, make like a tomato and catch up." That's sure to cause at least a few to damn near wet themselves laughing.

To 4 and 5 year olds, I'm like Jackie Mason and Oscar Wilde combined.

One of that type accosted me and my fam after we picked up our luggage at Fiumicino. He started smiling and talking to us and asked us to open the baggage. Like he was some kind of official.

I just looked him up and down and asked him in Italian: Who in eff are YOU?

and then I glanced over to the poliziotto who happened to be sauntering by.

------
The albums Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River, Born in the USA, and the Rising were some great stuff, the background to the parts of my younger life that knew that things could be hard, but life was still worth living despite the heartache. I raided them for BGM tunes for some of my RPG campaigns without fear. But the Boss by and large lost his connection to his muse, and his base, and went to too many parties with the Elite, and decided to front for them instead. He forgot what he had, and left the Rust Belt for the Beltway. Too bad, really.

His first albums are great...none of the scummy leftist bullshit he sings about now.
----------
Springsteen did try to be the blue bubble critics' darling in the before times with his debut album, when he tried to be East Coast Dylan, and got nothing except royalties from Manfred Mann. Then he tried again with Nebraska which got accolades but sold not very much. You'd think he would've learned, but I guess some lessons need repeating. Maybe the success of his good albums insulated him from the bad ones. Or maybe as a fan I treasured the music more than the man in the end. But he told me where to go with the Obummer duet, so now it's my turn to return the favor.

Posted by: rhennigantx at October 28, 2021 09:23 AM (yrol0)
++++
That's a problem. The number of total votes isn't big enough and I wonder how much is being buried in "more than." 17 * 2 is 34. So assuming perfect duplication across the data set, it would be exactly 34,000 votes counted on 17,000 votes cast. So what does "more than" mean? How many were counted three or four times? Assuming perfect tripling or quadrupling, the total would be 51k and 68k, respectively. Those are big differences.

it also says nothing about whether the ballot was legitimate in the first place. If we assume perfect legitimacy, then the surplus (fraudulent) vote is 17k (the first time it's counted is fine, everything else is bad) at a minimum.

The show dropped the ball on the fantasy front. The plot of the actual game of thrones, I think, ended up really good. =====
That was what really got me. The Big Man was a great sax player, a real gem, and he gave feeling to any number of songs. He was a guy I could have a couple of beers with and soak up his stories of being with the E Street Band. But yeah, because I'm white and I live in flyover country I'm automatically supposed to n-bomb him and throw my drink in his face. In the end, Clarence Clemmons was a bigger man than Springsteen in every way.

335 I was sick of hearing about springsteen by the early 80's. There was one radio station in jersey that had a chick DJ, and its all...all she would frigging talk about. Bruce this, bruce that. I swear I'm surprised I didn't hear "Well now top of the hour and we'll talk about the color of the corn in springsteen's shit". She wouldn't let it go. Every other fucking word out of her mouth was bruce springsteen.

All evidence to the contrary. I'm not saying voter fraud isn't concerning, but the GOP is still competitive. The problem is that the old money thinks they still run things and will pull the party away from what the voters want and isn't giving them an option to vote for, so they don't. It's deliberate malfeasance and cowardice that is killing their chances and that includes the voting security issues.

Huh? If 17000 voters each had only two ballots counted, that right there amounts to 34,000 votes. If some of those 17,000 voted even more than twice, the number should esceed 34,000.

If memory serves, Hynde wasn't the one squawking, it was her management and record company. While she wasn't particularly happy with the situation (especially since Rush had already paid to use the song), she told them both to back off because her parents were Rush fans, and she donated the Rush royalties to PETA. At least, that's the way I remember it.

Nevada and Colorado used to be purple now they're gone. Partly due to demographics but also fraud (CO is all mail in). MI and PA have a fraud machine that brazenly stole 2020 in the open. GA....we all know what happened there. AZ, same thing.

Bit by bit all the "competitive" areas are going deep blue since the GOP refused to take fraud seriously.

The exception is Florida. That state got serious about running clean elections. And what do you know? Republicans keep winning there. Hmmm....

We had a field trip to the Wonder Bread factory and to the Shedd Aquarium (now the Oceanarium). When we were at the Shedd Aquarium, it was during the time when some whales were stuck somewhere and it was in the news (sometime in the 1980s). The local news showed up at the Shedd Aquarium and thought it would be great to interview some grammar school children about their thoughts on the whales.

So they gathered us all in a group and then a few of us were interviewed. I was unable to get to the front for an interview, but I made sure to photo bomb the group by getting on my tip toes and giving a big cheesy grin from the back of the group. I recorded the 6pm news and sure enough, they had a segment at the end showing our group. And there was me in the background, big cheesy grin and all. Only time in my life I've ever been on TV.
