Literal Violence Cafe

A dog enters the #LetsGoBrandonChallenge.

Cat is very skilled at Red Light Green Light.

This cat is good at jump scares.

Cat chases miniature horse.

Cat chases dog.

Kitten makes her big dog brother her new bed.

Little pug wants to join in with the big kids.

Young elephant plays with ball.

I think in this dog obedience game, the dog is supposed to pass by distractions -- food and toys -- to go to the spot the master wants him to go to.

This dog plays to lose.

Mariachi ducks.

A stray puppy begs to be saved.

How best to describe...?

Inman: Police deal with crackheads who are too stoned to know they're supposed to lie about wanting to buy crack.

Chilean police take out the antifa garbage.

Soy thugs rob the wrong store.

From yesterday: Woman shoots a man with a gun who was attempting a robbery or possibly a kidnapping. Warning for gun violence.

Anyone want to play Spin the Otter?

Not to belabor the below Chappelle thread, but there were some good points made about his own POV on race/trans/etc.

Does Chappelle know anything about the support he's getting from the right? My hunch is he either is willfully ignorant of it or doesn't GAF, and I'm sick of our side expending energy defending people who would never defend us back.

interesting point there. so many comedians hate the Left but say it on the down low. All the old school guys say they will never play college campuses, and they say it for a reason. I am not the biggest Chappelle fan. But that doesn't matter. He probably realizes things have changed and he has no choice but to go with the people who think he is funny.

BTW, I didn't say people who support him. You are either funny or you are not. The Left claps for fake comedians but they never laugh.

91 artemis, give it a go! I like it a lot. I remember hearing it's how they made hot chocolate in the joint for a long time.

Key is to get the candy bar melted right. I take half of one, chop it up with a fork, put it in the 'wave for about 30 seconds, and do that once or twice more, then add a bit of milk and start over again. Clumps will form on your fork, but once you add the milk and start mixing it, hopefully they'll begin to let go.

When you finally get a 'concentrated' half cup of milk, add the remaining half-cup of milk and heat it up for 1-2 mins in the 'wave. De-lish!

Teacher warned me about a problem student. Kid was brought in by the school resource officer to make sure he made it to class. Sure enough, about 30 seconds into talking, he started to misbehave. I just looked at him and said 'excuse me, I did not give you permission to talk...." Class gasped... Kid shut up, and was good the rest of the class. He just needed someone who he perceived as an actual threat, to get him to behave.

98 91 artemis, give it a go!

De-lish!

Of course they should vote, that is not what I am saying, but if they didn't we would have never had a Dem president.

I also read in a legit break down that Romney would have crushed Obama if it were the Clinton electorate of '92. Things are always changing and both parties have to deal with it. Well one is buttressed by it and the other has to find a way to deal with it.

I did not expect to see the review section overrun with women talking about how great it is for taping their tatas into place in their party dresses.

334 Goats.

Pros: Will keep brush and grass down. Amusing. Relatively low maintenance.

Cons: ANY weakness in your containment system WILL be found and exploited. They can be challenging to retrieve. Males, unless they've visited Dr. Had's kitchen table, are smelly and (to put it mildly) obstreperous. Random people will knock on your door asking if you have goats for sale (or my favorite, ask if these are the free goats advertised on Craigslist).

Having lived downwind from a not clean goat farm, I can't abide goat cheese or goat milk or goat anything. I do try, and continue to try. Back when I used to go to HI every year for business, I'd make a point to swing by Surfing Goat Dairy in the upcountry on Maui.

I loved the warning signs for the Billy pen - like stay 10 feet away from the fence. Nothing like seeing the tourists get themselves and their mustang convertible whizzed on. I had a caretaker for a while that had a little pet goat (forget the variety) he used to take everywhere like a dog. It was pretty cute, I'll give it that. The park next to my house rents goats every year to eat down the grass. They excel at that. Those fuckers even eat poison oak.

Depends what you mean by national news. In pure storytelling plus pictures terms, it's one heck of a story.
Chick was really attractive and there are pictures and video.
Stupid "van life" backstory.
Couple bragged about their lifestyle in Internet videos.
Dude returns home and refuses to talk about what happened.
Better than fiction. And then the dude vanishes, and everyone and their brother wants to make damn sure he doesn't get away with this, if he's still alive.

A drone attack targeted US troops at the US base at At-Tanf in Syria, close to the border with Jordan, on Wednesday, according to a US defense official.

The initial assessment is that there were no injuries as a result of the attack, but the battle damage assessment is ongoing.

The US maintains approximately 900 troops in Syria, largely split between the At-Tanf base and the country's eastern oil fields.

The base sits within a 20-square-mile deconfliction zone near the Syrian border with Jordan, which was established by Russia and the US-led coalition to prevent the two sides from coming into accidental contact. The area has seen heavy fighting in recent years between US forces and ISIS, which has held a foothold in the area.

454 Was finally able to get a vet appointment to get my cat neutered. Three weeks?? Well, okay, and at least the nice vet assistant who lives around the corner will take him in for me and bring him home. But three weeks to neuter a male 6-month-old cat? ::sigh::

I just hope it doesn't turn him hostile. Right now he's a real sweetie, but I've had un-neutered males before, and that stray-and-spray ... uh, no, thanks.

The boy had enlisted, and had to report to basic training the next day. WWII followed not long after. The couple, both over 100, were celebrating their 86th wedding anniversary.

460 Basque is a weird sounding language
Posted by: vmom - link to Red's fundraiser at October 20, 2021 07:59 PM (YZG/i)

There is a theory that Spanish is based off a creole made up of Southern French vulgar Latin deeply influenced by Basque pronunciation, which explains both the reduced phonemes in Spanish compared to the other Romance languages and the strictly regularized verbs.

Aragon traded through the Pyrenees, and the theory was that the Basques had such influence on this trade that a form of trade language was developed. At the time vulgar latin and Occitan was standard as a "lingua Franca", and for example even Catalonia used Occitan as a court language. During the Reconquesta against the Moors it was used as a common language among all the smaller kingdoms.
(In Spanish academe, it is considered a Koine since Creole has a much different meaning in Spanish.)
