7 If you don't have a French press, at least switch to brown paper filters.

White filters are bleached. That's why the coffee needs creamer etc. to nullify the chlorine taste.

Posted by: jasonj at October 17, 2021 05:38 AM (ocTOb)

22 Morning again, everyone,

Decided to be lazy and not work out this morning; I'll wash the car instead. Not that such a task is that difficult when I use the DIY coin car wash, spray wax the car as I wipe it dry, doll up the tires, and I'm done. One is right near my usual Walmart, too, so the car can finish drying while I shop. I need some more tire dressing while I'm there, and I should really pick up some new wiper blades too.

I plan to pay off the car next month, almost 2 years early, and drive the big red Buick beast for a long while. From what I hear, trying to shop for a used car would be a horrible experience right now. (New cars, even if there wasn't chip troubles, would be way out of my price range anyway. And I don't want an SUV or crossover, so finding a sedan would be tough as well.)

88 Car talk today?

I just dropped a grand on mine Friday with another grand planned in the future when the parts come in for a convertible top. That's after dropping a grand on it the week before to order a fiberglass hood to replace the aluminum hood that is corrosion prone with another $800-1000 planned to install and paint it when it comes in. This car also needs various other bits and pieces of trim and suchlike which will probably be another 1K or so. But I plan to be buried in this car, so it's all good.

My Subaru needs the transmission rebuilt, it howls in fifth gear, which leads me to believe the rear bearings are shot. I haven't decided if I'm going to pull and deliver it to the rebuild shop or just let them pull it, I don't need it right away so it can sit for a while.

The old saying, if it has tits or wheels it will give you problems. (I have also heard if it flies, f*cks or floats, rent don't buy.)

100 I have a fleet of cars here at casa blaster. My most recent addition was a truck for the farm. Bought it in July. I was looking for a cheap truck and wow no such thing. I ended up with the cheapest I could find which was a Cadillac Escalade EXT which turned out to be a great deal. A lot of miles. But the GMT 800 platform is super reliable

Diesel trucks are made of unobtainium.

Trump made a statement once (maybe he said it a lot, idk) that "the country belongs to the people" .. maybe he added, not to the rich, or something like that. The oligarchs could not allow such sentiment to stand.

Something like 97% of money is created by banks, and since mid-80's or so, Finance (running money) is the largest portion of global GDP. But they get protected and bailed out ... at least the largest ones (the ones that created the problems got even more power after TARP)

that doesn't even touch the whole unregulated derivative market quadrillion, where the oligarchs play, and also get bailed out by Uncle Sam -- mortgaging the country itself to save them.

The reset will be awesome ... if we get to track down the oligarchs in some sort of Running Man game show ... but I think they have other plans.
