9 I love Inman so hard. He brings me joy.

Also joyous: today I was offered and accepted a significant internal promotion at work.

This turn of events means I no longer have to choose between advancing my career by taking a similar job out west and staying here to be near my minions.

So tonight, I'm enjoying my balcony, Glenmorangie, a Rocky Patel cigar, and Chopin's Raindrop Prelude.

Keep being amazing, Ace, and Horde, keep being... The Horde.

Seems like the specifics would matter. If you are in a state like CA that apparently has a mandate, you might well lose. But in TX where there's an anti-mandate? Stands to reason that if the state can make a public policy judgment that you must he vaccinated it can also do the opposite.

Good luck on the bonded pair! I had 2 sisters that were inseparable, it was truly a gift to see how nature made them so opposite, kind of like jig-saw pieces that fit together.

In your case, I'd see no problem with the old beds. The dogs have each other and you, so the smell of another pooch will dissipate quickly. It'd be more of a problem with a single new puppy, or rescue where it might trigger some baggage.

Anyway, Phydeaux would run at high speed past me at night when i was enroute to/from the horse lot to check on them before bed time. He would wait and time it, because he k ew it scared the cr out of me, until it was the narrowest part of the path, in the woods between the church, the cemetary, and the horse lot. I swear he enjoyed that more than eating.

That's a good one. Wes Anderson's directing style is unique, I've enjoyed pretty much everything (but not all) he's done as low-key as it can be at times, it's always charming. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a favorite.

One in a similar style to Isle of Dogs that didn't do much for me was Fantastic Mr. Fox, although I probably owe it a re-visit just to be sure I wasn't in a particularly shitty mood.

A Bloomfield, Indiana, woman was sentenced to 14 days in jail Tuesday afternoon for taking part in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Dona Sue Bissey, 52, will also have to pay $500 in restitution and complete 60 hours of community service. She will not have probation afterward.

Bissey was allegedly at the Capitol with Anna Morgan-Lloyd, who was sentenced to three years of probation, 120 hours of community service and a fee of $500 in restitution after admitting to entering the Capitol.

Investigators laid out the case using the women's comments and photos on Facebook as evidence they were in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6 and went inside the Capitol.

246 The dog with the door is pretty darned funny. As mentioned above, the cat and the stove lid. Once you set rules for an animal - especially when they're young, they're hard wired. Just like tying up a horse, once it learns its reins are tied and it can't escape, you can basically wrap them around a lawn chair and the horse will stand there.

When my girls were pups, I put a barrier up to keep them from going up the stairs (which they could only just manage at that point). Even when the dogs were grown, if they saw that barrier they knew they couldn't get past it, even though they could easily walk over it at that point.

The simple shit - milk, bread, isn't the real problem. Its the global stuff - electronics and cars, for example, that become unobtanium.

I'm guessing you've got the property to keep a horse on. Here in CA, it's almost cheaper to have a slip for a sailboat in San Francisco or Monterey than it is to board a horse. When I had my place in the hills, I sat over a large horse boarding stables and there was a smaller one on my way up. I just don't see treating a horse like an RV, and visiting on nice weekend days.

For the medical exam appointment they sent the appointment by email, but also FedEx 1. Then FedEx a pack of papers to fill out, but ignore if we already have your medical records. Then a 3rd FedEx with the appointment reminder.

They did this for both the medical exam and optometry. 6 FedEx envelopes to send a hardcopy of what they were also emailing.

A real active display of Northern Lights is mesmerizing. Winter in Northern Alberta, near Rainbow Lake. I'm on a seismic crew. Eight o'clock at night; done for the day. We leave the line trucks and recorder idling on the line, because it's -20C out there. Riding the Suburban back to camp, to get dinner and go to bed. The Northern lights kick in, and they are pretty active. Truck stops, and seven hungry guys get out, and stare at the sky for ten minutes or so, just taking it all in, not even noticing the cold. It was magical.

Buddy and I drove to Alaska in the spring of 1985. Being in Alberta, BC and Yukon at night was unbelievable. Apparently the solar activity was at a peak. We actually first saw the lights leaving Great Falls MT. It was a very cool way to experience the Great White North.

I have seen them as far south as here in Northern CO, but they were kind of faint. And that was in the 1990s.

405 I'm sorry Backwards Boy can't come, but I won't be critical of him for dropping out - you never know what's going on in someone's life at the time. For example, you'd think it'd be a simple thing for me since I only live an hours drive away; BUT I take care of my grandson every other weekend, and he really counts on our time together. (we've got quite a bond) Well, his mother and father (who don't live together and share him a week on, a week off) changed his schedule so it would conflict with the MoMee. Quickly put, I had to cajole 6 people into allowing me to take over their weekend scheduling for the entire month of October, including his other 2 grands who don't like me very much. It was about 200 phone calls and a whole lot of work, JUST so I could go! But I did it. (and my wife is still grumping about it a bit) I wasn't going to take no for an answer.

Posted by: Tom Servo at October 12, 2021 08:47 PM (evAgx)

406 It's not that. I'm okay financially. I have a job where they won't fire me. I have my pets to get through the day. But the only time this house felt like a home was when my husband was alive. And it hasn't resembled a home of any sort for years, with things packed up everywhere. I may have the means now to wrap this up and get out of here. But I could be stuck here through the winter.
