Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Evan McMullin Announces Bid Challenge Mike Lee for Utah Senate, and Democrat Shills Bill Kristol and Charlie "3-Wives" Sykes Couldn't Be More ExcitedEvan McMullin's bid to unseat Mike Lee is... A) yet another Democrat-funded operation to increase Democrat control B) an opportunity for the seemingly jobless Evan McMullin to rake in more money from Democrat billionaires and Useful Idiots on Twitter C) Both A & B Via Twitchy, the Salt Lake Tribune reported yesterday:Evan McMullin, who won more than 21% of the Utahns' votes for president in 2016, will challenge Sen. Mike Lee as an independent candidate for Utah’s Senate seat next year. An announcement of his candidacy is likely to come soon -- perhaps very soon -- a source in the McMullin camp told me over the weekend. The McMullin "camp" consists of McMullin, Bill Kristol, their wives, and their wives' f***-stags. Bill Kristol and Charlie "3-Wives" Sykes are eagerly quoting from this biased, McMullin-promoting piece almost as if they're responsible for planting the quotes in the first place.

gotta quote this, from an email the other day from a leftwing Dem group:
About six months ago, Democrats across the party spectrum agreed that they'd try to move their agenda through two bills: a bipartisan infrastructure bill (the BIF) and the Build Back Better Act. The idea was that Dems would work with Republicans on the (very small) areas of infrastructure where compromise was possible, and then we'd roll all the really big and important parts of the Democratic agenda -- climate action, paid family leave and child care, lower prescription drug prices, a pathway to citizenship, and more -- into one megabill, the Build Back Better Act, which could pass through the reconciliation process with just Democratic votes. The idea behind linking the two bills was simple. Conservative Dems would get what they wanted (some headlines about bipartisanship, good vibes), and the rest of us would get what we wanted (THE ACTUAL DEMOCRATIC AGENDA). This looks like "campaign fund-kiting."
McMullin owed a lot of people a lot of $$ after 2016. I doubt he's paid off the debts. What better way to solve that problem than to run again, spend very little, raise a lot, and get the old debts out of the way? Lee, who came in during the Tea Party wave in 2010, is a bitter disappointment in many ways, esp relating to H1B visas, so-called guest workers, and illegal immigration. I would rather see someone else try to defeat him from the right, but I guess that won't happen. Additionally, Utah still has a party convention. It used to be the ONLY vehicle for getting a nomination for national office, but it got watered down to save Mitt Romney's Senate candidacy when he ran. Romney finished second at the 2018 GOP convention. That would previously have kept him off the ballot, but under new rules he was able to run in a GOP primary against the guy who beat him at the convention. Romney defeated him, purely on name recognition and not merit. It's very unlikely that McMullin will get past the convention, meaning any money he raised up to that point won't have to be spent. Like I said, "campaign fund-kiting." Posted by: Stealth LOL at October 05, 2021 12:51 PM (7PF2/) 264

To get it down to household scale, it is 41 cents per 10,000 BTU. A typical kitchen gas burner size is 10,000 BTU/hour. So running your typical average gas stove burner full blast for one hour will cost about 41 cents plus delivery. But what about heat? An 80,000 BTU furnace - in the average range, though lower in that range - will consume 0.8 therms per hour. So running your 80k BTU furnace for one hour will cost $3.27 in fuel. Posted by: rhomboid (OTzUX) at October 05, 2021 01:05 PM (OTzUX) ++++ I don't agree with the conclusion. Electronic systems absolutely can be well-designed and built to avoid fraud. Electronic tabulation makes a tremendous amount of sense. I don't like electronic voting, but the counting and arithmetic being computerized is sensible. But Dominion's systems are not secure or designed to prevent fraud. Everything that's come up indicates that the opposite is true: they're designed to be exploitable. Thinks like duplicate checking and append-only databases and log files are basic level secure system shit, and it has nothing at all in this regard. That system is designed to be abused and defrauded, and I think that is where Dominion's actions are. They don't cheat the vote, but they deliberately designed the system to enable cheating and I suspect they probably train the operators on how to do it. So yesterday was a really tough day for FB.
I am hearing from my various associates that this is being attributed as a BGP configuration error. Knowing how I and my fellow professionals design networks to survive hardware failures and DDOS attacks, I can only think of one way that a misconfiguration does this, and that is via a script that modifies several devices all at once. This is why I'm not a code-jocky type network engineer and why I think it is a mistake for large enterprise network engineers to be so eager to use scripts as a means of network administration. Scripts are very very powerful and eagerly uncaring about unexpected errors in logic. It is far better to evolve a network change in a series of small phases rather than try to make large leaps simultaneously. I say this because FB had recently reached out to recruit me for their network team. I was considering the position because "keep your enemies closer..." But they were adamant that I be strong on scripting and coding and I pushed back. So this outage... kinda saw it coming. Posted by: TSgt Ciz at October 05, 2021 01:14 PM (LW36e) 395

All kinds of different parts of the process are being mixed up here.
Punch-card ballot counting cannot be beat (and no, "voter intent" is the voter's job, an improperly voted ballot doesn't count - just as many many improperly voted ballots are not counted, and never have been). Properly calibrated machines are correct - which is why FL's actual 2000 count (as verified by multiple independent recounts after) announced on election night was ..... just about exactly correct. Voter registration and voting integrity (who gets to actually vote a ballot) are and are supposed to be completely separate processes. That's kind of the point. With normal, pre-1990s, solid systems - one election day, in-person voting or strictly monitored absentee, only - physical ballots and almost entirely physical processes are much more difficult to defraud, and infinitely easier to validate/investigate/check, than any other system. Even with the abominations of "election month" and the like, now, they remain superior in those respects. Posted by: rhomboid (OTzUX) at October 05, 2021 01:31 PM (OTzUX) 447
Vermin Supreme was a Presidential Candidate too, and he made a lot more sense than McMuffin. Being a "Presidential Candidate" means nothing.

"But the stuff that McAuliffe is saying about him and doing, I will crawl over broken glass to vote for Youngkin."
Not me. Not this time. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I used to think the Republicans were the lesser of two evils. It took me a LONG time to wake up to the fact they're just a different face of the same evil. Virginia should be a perfect lesson to the state and national parties about what will happen to them when they sell us out. But it won't happen, because enough lemmings will turn out to vote against the Democrat. Not enough to matter. Not enough to change the outcome. But enough to ensure the GOP will keep on not getting it. Posted by: SMFH at October 05, 2021 01:54 PM (u/7wY) 449
I've always loved Billy Crystal movies.

McMullin married a widow with five children a couple months ago. As he's clearly homosexual I was figuring he was prepping a ready made family for when he waits Romney out and ran for the Senate in 2024. I didn't expect him to be bold enough to take on Lee this soon, especially as an independent. I'm curious if he'll get any support though; wouldn't the Democrats who prop up the McMullin-adjacent media prefer to give their money to the Democrat (obviously they're rich enough to give to both him and a Democrat)? I think Lee's a Mormon as well so the cynical calculation that McMullin's backers made in 2016 wouldn't really be in play here. Interested to see how this plays out.

Evan McMullin
... he's the Tony Danza of the GOP someone is always looking to cast him in a role but Tony couldn't act and McMullin is just a grade B professional grifter, glad-hander and butt-kisser. but someone sure likes that guy, hmmm I wonder who? Posted by: Shoey77 at October 05, 2021 02:20 PM (fcWVN) 452
I read the Daily Mail, since I can handle leftists that aren't traitors. Unfortunately they're obsessed with the dead hippie chick, Dog the bounty Hunter, the murderer's attention seeking sister, and every trailer park resident that has seen a skinny bald punk in the past month.
It could be worse and they could still be stuck on Harry and Meghan, and her relatives who are whining about not getting in on the nobility grifting. Posted by: Downcast at October 05, 2021 02:53 PM (AvMV4) 453
I live in southern Utah. McMullin is Romney 2.0. Patriots down here in the pioneer counties don't like Romney and they sure as hell don't like Evan McMuffypants.

Late to the party. . . .but. . . .I know a ton of people in McMuffins part of Utah (way north), and they know he's a genuine Barry Odildo Metus polisher. . . . . the headscratcher is "where is getting the funds for this?" I guess we know, don't we?? And. . . .fuck Bill Kristol. . . .forever. . . .to his ignominious end. . . . and then do it again.

417 Egg McMuffin should form his own party called the "Conservative Utahns' Coalition" or CUC for short.

155 I met an attorney in AZ last month that is LDS. He loved Romney and believes he should have won in 2016. Hates Trump. You can't argue with people like this. We dumped him.

Do a wider pull of those who live in the "LDS corridor" and you'll find that Schitt Rumney and his brat spawn sons are cooked. . . . actually, hated.
