"Bipartisan" "Infrastructure" Bill May Fail -- And Take Biden and Even Pelosi With It
Okay, that's very speculative. But all I do anymore is post bad news.
Let me speculate some in the positive direction. Note that if the Democrat Party tears itself up over this, then the Republicans who consistently voted in favor of the "bipartisan" infrastructure bill, even as Democrats up to and including Joe Biden told them it was a Trojan Horse for Democrat wish-list spending and that the plan was always to betray their GOP quisling dupes, will actually have... won? Won by surrendering, that is. Which is the only way the GOP can win, because they sure the heck don't fight. Note that Obama's tactic was swearing "I won't c*** in your mouth" to get weak-sister GOPers to do the left's bidding. Biden, on the other hand, admits straight-up: "I'm going to c*** in your mouth." And Lindsey Graham and the rest of the cryptoleftists are right there to eat it all up. On to the quotes: Progressives are threatening to vote against the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill unless the $2.3 trillion "human infrastructure" bill is also passed by the Senate. They intend this as leverage to force the "human infrastructure." They want both the $1.2 trillion "bipartisan infrastructure bill" and the $2.3 trillion leftwing wish list "human infrastructure bill" passed by the Senate. If the Senate doesn't vote for the latter, they claim, they'll vote against the former. They are claiming they are voting for the $3.5 trillion blowout -- or for nothing at all. Weak-sister House Republicans who have been cutting deals with the Democrats to get this horrorshow passed say they will not vote for the $1.2 trillion bill to make up for the lost votes of The Squad wing of the Democrat Party.As House progressives threaten to withhold dozens of votes to pass a bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill if it comes up for a vote in the coming weeks, several Republican members of a bipartisan group that backed the bill say they have no plans to rescue it. Two members of the Problem Solvers Caucus -- Reps. Mike Gallagher (R-Wisc.) and Mike Bost (R-Ill.) -- told Forbes they won’t vote for the bill, while another, Rep. There may be some risk of people running against Democrats from the Left, but no risk whatsoever of the first part of this actually failing. So the second part - the "human infrastructure" - as proposed will be about as expensive as the total, economy-killing, inflation-generating COVID response. Together, it will be much me larger - about 17% of GDP.
What they're proposing is more expensive than every prior bailout, including the hugely disastrous COVID spending. What they'll get, though - the "bipartisan infrastructure bill" = is a mere 6.2% of GDP. At only half the cost of the 2009 financial crisis package, it's a downright bargain...

IIRC, Manchin was reelected in 2018, so he's in until 2024.
Sinema was also elected in 2018, so same for her. I think Mark Kelly, the CCP asset who is the other Arizona Senator, is up for reelection next year because he was elected to serve out the rest of McCain's term. Dunno how that will go.

One reason is because Iron Dome development feeds into multiple systems that we are developing for US military use. In this case, the tech/software development goes in both directions, and we are benefiting from the work of Israeli engineers just as they are benefiting from the US.
Is that enough to justify spending US $ on the program? One can argue compellingly in both directions, but it's not just a matter of funding another country's defense.

If memory serves, a Renaissance-era hand-carried mine used to breach walls in siege warfare. Soldiers would carry it to a wall, emplace and light the fuse. I'm not arguing that later republican repeal attempts were failure theatre, but O-Care passed the senate with a filibuster proof 60 votes with no republicans voting for it. Kennedy then died, Massachusetts elected a republican in his place and the dems had to go with the senate bill as passed. They could not do a house-senate conference on it to reconcile with the house bill. Any "fixes" to it via reconciliation (not conference) came a year later.
