The Morning Report - 9/22/21

congdissdron.jpg

Good morning, kids. Yesterday, while riding a bus out in the hinterlands of Staten Island, feeling a bit disconnected from the current multiple insanities engulfing the world, I clicked over to the HQ and was stunned by the news of Angelo Codevilla being struck and killed in some sort of traffic accident. It's even more stunning in that aggregating today's links only yielded two about the incident and Codevilla himself, one from his base over at American Greatness and the other at American Mind. I would assume that the usual outlets I rely on will fill that void in the days to come or perhaps on the weekend when things slow down. Over the past 10 years, Codevilla emerged as one of the most seminal political essayists/analysts out there. His 2010 magnum opus American Spectator article (later published as a small book), The Ruling Class: How They Corrupted America and What We Can Do About It, was hailed by Rush Limbaugh who probably did more than anyone else to spread Codevilla's gospel truth about how our government actually works, rather than the illusion of participatory republican democracy. The reaction to the 2016 election of Donald Trump -- that is the attempt to sabotage him and his/our agenda at every turn culminating in the rigging/theft of the 2020 election -- only underscored the absolute truth of Codevilla's thesis. It is cruel beyond words to be robbed of such a brilliant and eloquent mind at such a perilous time, when the cause of freedom is in such desperate need of it. If there is a liberal in your life, or an otherwise low information person, who is at least open to a civil discussion about seeing things the way they truly are, you couldn't do better than engaging in a little consciousness-raising and handing them a copy of The Ruling Class. Certainly, a life well-lived. Requiescat in pace.

In case you missed it, there was a drone that hit the UN General Assembly yesterday. It was Joe Biden who droned on and on mostly repeating the idiocies of Secretary General Antonio Guterres in declaring climate an existential threat to humanity along with a virus that is marginally more dangerous than seasonal flu, all while genuflecting to the Red Chinese and hurling transparent insults at President in Exile Trump for his America first agenda. It was a snooze fest for sure and ironically enough it was the Austrian ambassador who kept checking his watch and fidgeting with his badge while Biden's dentures clattered like arhythmic castanets.

Meanwhile, the real UN-style action took place in DC, where the Democrats did the Arafat pistol-and-olive-branch mambo. Minus the olive branch.

Republicans slammed Democrats on Tuesday for defunding Israel's Iron Dome within a government funding bill after several radical Democrats threatened to vote against the funding bill due to signing a resolution this summer to block arms sales to Israel.

The Democrat-controlled Congress must pass a funding bill and also suspend the debt limit within days to stop a government shutdown when current government funds dry up at the end of this month. The measure has little chance of passing the Senate, where Democrats need ten Republican votes.

The removal of the funds for the Iron Dome speaks to the panicked mood of the Democrat leadership over enacting [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden's massive tax and spending proposals. Therefore, the White House suggested Tuesday Biden approves of defunding the Iron Dome.

Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) tweeted the Democrats caved to the radical left just after President Biden promised to help protect Israel from terrorism. "Speaker Pelosi JUST caved to the socialists and yanked funding for Israel's Iron Dome from the government funding CR bill. Dems can't even keep a promise for 24 hours," Hice said. . .

. . . House Republicans Twitter handle suggested House Democrats prefer Islamic terrorists over Israel. "House Democrats choose radical Islamic terrorists over our ally Israel," the group said.

Meh. It's par for the course with them. A billion dollars compared to trillions in "infrastructure," budgets, continuing resolutions and all the rest is a freaking rounding error. But it is illustrative of the fact of who and what is running that party. They are intent on flooding this nation with millions more who share their worldview. And I don't mean Haitians and Guatemalans either.

If one of those fabled white supremacist terrorists that Biden's handlers keep telling us are the biggest terror threat in America today had been caught plotting to bomb a mosque, you can bet you would have heard about it. But the news Thursday that a Muslim named Mustafa Mousab Alowemer pleaded guilty to a jihad plot to bomb a Pittsburgh church, the Legacy International Worship Center, got little notice. That's no surprise: the story doesn't fit the narrative of either Biden's handlers or the establishment media, which is that there is no significant jihad terror threat, and a much bigger problem is the "Islamophobia" of Trump's bloodthirsty MAGA legions. Back in the real world, the guilty plea is a small reminder of what the real threat really is.

There is another reason why both the [junta] and the media would rather have this story go away, amid the chaos at the Southern border and just after the catastrophe in Afghanistan: Alowemer, 23, came to the United States from Syria as a refugee when he was 18. Yet he doesn't exactly fit the image of a grateful refugee, eager to become a part of our glorious multicultural mosaic. He told investigators, according to the criminal complaint against him, that "his motivation to detonate a device at the Church was to support the cause of ISIS and to inspire other ISIS sympathizers in the United States to join together and commit similar acts in the name of ISIS." He added that he "also targeted the Church, which he described as Christian and Nigerian, in order to 'take revenge for our [ISIS] brothers in Nigeria.'" Christians are suffering fierce persecution from Muslims in Nigeria, but as far as Alowemer was concerned, this meant only that they were infidels at war with Allah, and he thirsted for revenge.

The young jihadi wanted to maximize the casualty count. The Associated Press reported that Alowemer had "detailed plans" to bomb the church, including a particularly cruel touch: "Federal prosecutors said at the plea hearing that he talked about potentially planting a second explosive device, timing the detonation to coincide with when first responders would begin to arrive. . . "

. . . Now that Alowemer has pleaded guilty, will investigators go on to other cases, or will they try to determine where Mustafa Mousab Alowemer learned his understanding of Islam? Where did he get the idea that it would be a good idea to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State? Has his mosque been investigated? Why not?

And above all, will Biden's handlers consider the implications of a young jihadi targeting Christians in the United States for murder after coming here as a refugee? Will they redouble their efforts to vet the Afhgan evacuees and other refugees properly, and make new efforts to ensure that no jihadis will enter the country? Don't be silly. That would be "Islamophobic."

15 the news of Angelo Codevilla being struck and killed by a drunk driver

Via Ryan P. Williams

Just to correct the record on Angelo Codevilla's death: no drunk driver. Early conjecture involved a geographically plausible nearby incident to that effect. Different incident.

Angelo was involved in a highway accident in CA gold country, where he has lived for the last ~15 yrs

32 I miss B16.

Gay marriage is a wholly modern concept. Yes, homosexuality has always been a thing, typically indulged in as a vice of the rich and powerful. Some cultures tolerate it, others don't.

But Gay "Marriage" only became a Thing as a result of the western evisceration of the institution of marriage. If it is nothing more than a temporary legal and economic contract between two people who are boning each other for the time being, then what reason is there to exclude homosexuals?

There are horses and carts all over in no particular order, but you can't discuss gay marriage without discussing the 20th century's murder of marriage itself.

38 The world has had 250 years to mimic our Constitution...

39 I don't know much about Israel's economy outside of the high-tech and medical industries. In the former, they are mostly software with a lot of hardware design (microprocessors and other chips) but little fabrication. Do they have the manufacturing needed to take Iron Dome completely in-house? Iron Dome has been hugely successful. It isn't perfect and rockets do slip through but the absence of all-out existential war over the past several years likely comes down to that system. Hamas can lob rockets with abandon and it almost doesn't matter. But those interceptors aren't cheap and they do have to be built.

Yes. Marriage has been under attack in earnest for about forty years. No-fault divorce was a catastrophic legal change, and we have Reagan to thank for it. His own divorce from Jane Wyman was messy, public, brutal and lengthy. As governor of California, looking to protect others from having to through the same wall of fire, signed the bill for no-fault divorce. It was 1969, and that act marks the beginning of the end of marriage. Within fifteen years, most other states had similar laws. It was over.

58 I watched the entire 8 hours of the FDA dog and pony to try to get an EUA for death jabbing the 16 and over. And although it did not pass, if you watched what the FDA did during that session, it was slimy and devious. They forced a second vote because they knew this would be voted down. The second vote was reworded (from advice from the voting committee) to pass an EUA for 65+, AND for those coming in contact with those exposed (healthcare workers and more).

You could see how mad and condescending the main FDA guy was that wanted it passed. They were mostly off camera but occasionally you could see his face. Then he had that same smirk and arrogance after the 2nd vote passed (anonymous) and said, we do not need to discuss this, we have the power to now take that wording and change it to what we want, it is flexible he said.

So there was no win there. Giving them ANOTHER EUA leaves them free from liability. Pfizer was there acting just as arrogant and sleazy as the FDA reps. They were finding the exercise a joke, you could tell with their smiles and frustration. The fix was in. They found a way around it all again by forcing a 2nd question (this was not on the agenda). Evil.

61 No brilliant insight, but it occurred to me last night in reference to the Australian leadership that the longstanding premise of Western governments as public servants who cared about and were answerable to the people is no longer. These "leaders" -- almost to a person -- care more about their standing with their globalist elitist peerage than the people. The people are only a collective heap to be manipulated, coerced (and ultimately forced, if necessary) into consent.

It's a fascinating answer to the question. It isn't new, but it is interesting as always. The plight of the American Indian has little or nothing to do with it, and it was bolted on to the answer more recently. The main thrust has always been resource wealth and crass violence. It is absurd.

If natural resources were the reason for progress, we would not be a country of middling wealth and Hong Kong would be an impoverished backwater. Neither is true because natural resources aren't all that meaningful when you have trade - and man has *always* had trade, at least to some degree. Oil and diamonds sitting in the ground unexploited and unable to be exploited are worth precisely nothing.

What CRT, the 1619 Project and all the other Left doctrines say is that our founding principles are themselves fraudulent, that this is a country founded on and dedicated to robbery and oppression. That's what's being taught in schools today, using your tax dollars.

Pretty much how every existing civilization in history became a civilization. They dominated the previous civilization.

This is just like those who blame slavery on the USA, thinking that the USA invented slavery. When, in fact, if one does even the least bit of research into *world* history, one finds that slavery was a worldwide institution (and still is in some places). And the USA was one of the first countries to eliminate slavery.

Americans who hate America I would bet 99% of them have zero knowledge of world history, so have zero basis of perspective for what they claim to hate.

All anyone has to do is watch documentary series like "Modern Marvels" to discover all the advancements in technology and construction and medicine that has originated over the past 100+ years in the USA alone, which have benefitted not just America, but the entire world.

Hell, we gave our Constitution to various others. Liberia - a country of our own creation - ended up with a word-for-word copy of it and look at how they turned out. The Constitution as such is meaningless. It is a wonderful application of philosophy, but ultimately it comes down to men. The men subject to it as law will live by its terms or ideals - or at least try to do so, however imperfectly and strive always to do better - or they won't. If they don't, then the words are meaningless. If there is no willingness and desire to live by it and correct deviation, it has no meaning and no value.

In Liberia, there was no such willingness and desire. In the United States today, there is no such willingness and desire.

90 I don't know much about Israel's economy outside of the high-tech and medical industries.

She started in films in 1914, soon leaving the Triangle Film company and joining up with Western star William S. Hart before moving on to Ince studios in Santa Monica.

Her career was fairly typical of the second-string silent actress - between 1914 and 1924 she appeared in over 40 movies, most of which still survive. If she's known at all, it is for co-starring with Valentino in 1921s Moran of the Lady Letty. Her second marriage was to producer Arthur Hammerstein in 1924, after which she decided to retire from Hollywood. She died in Scarsdale NY in 1972.

That is more honest than most of them, who fall back on the otherwise unexplained "not real communism." Communism is a failed ideology because it is anti-human. It cannot be made to work for man. You can claim that this is because man isn't good enough for your system, but this is arrogance to a degree that makes their world-historic slaughter completely comprehensible. It mixes up cause and effect. Your system is not good enough for man, not the other way around.

This happens other places, too. Economic globalism - essentially, the thesis of "they get rich and liberal before we become impoverished and oppressed and then everyone is well-off" is also wrong and doesn't work in the real world and turns into a disaster. Its supporters tend to be just as committed as communism's, because like communism the theory is just so appealing to those who like it.

This is the problem with the vast majority of people in this country. They are only *now* bothering to pay attention, question and do their own research.

I have been researching this stuff since before my employer sent us home for "two weeks to flatten the curve" based on Wretched Whitmer's lockdown policies March 13, 2020. I had been paying attention to the data and compared it to past viruses and diseases and the freakout made *zero* sense.

When my supervisor gathered us all to tell us to pack up our stuff and go work from home, I called it bullshit right then and there. And I have been obsessively following the data and doing research on everything related to SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 every single day since then.

The fact that the vast majority of people don't do this for everything already or are just getting around to it now... depressing.

153 The software that runs Iron Dome is quite interesting. It's designed to prioritize which incoming rockets are likely to hit populated or otherwise important targets and engage them first. This is because it's not currently possible to hit every rocket or missile fired with the current system.

That, and it costs something like $100K per Iron Dome interceptor vs. $1K or so for an unguided rocket.

That might be part of the funding equation with regards to Iron Dome.

The patriarchy. That isn't snark. Women are weaker than men and serve a different role in society. They are not included in the draft (military or other public service) because that is not their place or their purpose. While the men are drafted to fight or build, the women stay home to keep the town together, to keep the household running, to keep the farm (or factories) productive in male absence, and to raise the children. It's division of labor, and it works.

This question, by the way, is why the suffragettes never had majority female support. Women assumed - incorrectly as it turns out - that if they were given the rights of men that they'd have the obligations of men. And drafts were much more common then, as public works often used drafted labor and so did things like fire departments. Big fire? If you're an able-bodied man, get your ass on the bucket brigade. Women didn't want to be subjected to that and generally rejected the suffragettes. Most didn't realize that the men - the oppressive patriarchs - would *never* make that demand in exchange.

Ooh. Selective Service is one of my pet peeves. Some Republicans were saying that current policy and law and court cases would require women to register for Selective Service (they are right IMO). But they were trolling with it. Some Dems decided to actually do it and now Republicans are against it.

I think that it is immoral and illegal not to have women register for Selective Service. And it is one area where women do NOT want equal treatment. I have yet to meet a female who thinks Selective Service should apply to women.

I have long held that women will force the elimination of Selective Service before they are required to register for it.

Because the fact is that this could possibly be too late to do anything about it. Because the "conventional wisdom" has set it. The vast majority of people believe the "conventional wisdom" (i.e. the narrative) and now if any facts or data is presented that goes against that "conventional wisdom", it is seen as "conspiracy theory".

While what Project Veritas is doing is important, it needs to go mainstream. Because the Left has smeared and classified Project Veritas as radical right-wing conspiracy liars. So even though they are presenting facts, the narrative that the vast majority of people believe is that anything coming from Project Veritas is a lie.

So this information must be picked up by mainstream sources and pushed into the public. As someone said, people like us, who have been doing research for the past 18 months, this is not news. But for the vast majority of Americans, this is the first they are hearing of it.

Posted by: Lady in Black at September 22, 2021 07:10 AM

Back when President Trump announced Operation Warp Speed -- which I think was in May 2020? -- there were articles all through the mainstream press saying that it was irresponsible to speed up the vaccine process. There was a CNN article I think with the headline stating that it takes *at least* 18 months to develop a good vaccine.

18 months from May 2020 is... NOV 2021.

So we are still 2 months away from the time when everyone on the Left stated that it took to safely develop a good vaccine.

Which means all the "vaccines" that people have been getting since late 2020... are part of the trial to test the "vaccines". Everyone who has gotten a SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 shot has given their consent to be part of a "vaccine" trial.

273 Yep. We live in a world of lies, deception, propaganda that is pounded into us from a very young age and very difficulty to break free of. It is inconceivable to most people that this is going on and most of what they "know" is BS. Watch any MSM news broadcast, especially the morning shows, is enraging and depressing. This is what the majority stew in and base their LIV opinions on.

335 American Thinker from 2016

An advanced radar system, the Northrop Grumman ASR-9 is able to detect a target in severe clutter even when the target has no transponder. The absence of a transponder is what distinguishes a primary radar return from a secondary one. In others words, the radar picked up a small, unidentified, ascending object intersecting TWA 800 in the second before the 747 disappeared from radar.

After Johnson and his supervisor watched the video tape replay with audio, they turned to each other and said in unison, What the f***! Asked by his supervisor if he had ever seen anything like this before, Johnson said yes - while in the Navy days doing missile test fires at sea.

A day later, now knowing the full scope of the tragedy, Johnson asked if he could take another look at the radar tape. Cant, its gone, said his supervisor.

Funny that he uses the word "flood", since the Davos crowd at a specific planning meeting talks of Flood as a tactic -- to overwhelm all discourse and action via Flooding the MSM and all media with their Narrative.

That is what we see now ... we know they are wrong on forced vaccines and denying early treatment ... but they did Flood ... they made it illegal to treat, are forcing vaccines, and any other voices are forcibly silenced.

Same with the election theft ... full censorship of any stolen election talk, and we saw the efforts while Trump was still POTUS ... that was when Milley was conspiring to take over the military, and spreading the narrative that "crazy Trump might nuke China".

It sure looks like central planning to me (or all those that get fired if they don't bend the knee on the global warming narrative).

In my opinion, the only benefit to exposing past instances of government corruption and lies which we can no longer to do anything about... is to open people's eyes to how corrupt is the government and how much the government lies and the media enables those lies.

Opening people's eyes to finally start paying attention and to question everything from the government and the media and become a citizenry which cannot be preyed upon is well worth while.

351 The latest example of how to not to contest elections comes to us from Canada, where Conservatives tried to offer Slower Trudeau, and lost.

Republicans, experts at slower Marxism, will again Not See The Obvious. Trump is popular not because of his personality, or his complete failures at staffing a government, but because he fought. He had a clear set of popular principles and he fought for them. Republicans consider themselves expert at everything except those qualities (which they deride), and so are running the risk of duplicating the Canadian result.

"DEMOCRATS BANNED: @chucktodd once again invited only Republicans onto @MeetThePress. Chuck Todd booked Bill Cassidy to push GOP talking points and refused to have a single Democrat on to balance him. Since Jan. 6 Todd has booked the following Republicans on shows with 0 Democrats," Negrin tweeted.

He continued to suggest that Todd is actually a "centrist Republican" who pushes right-wing talking points to an audience.

"Meet the Press presents only GOP viewpoints because it's hosted by a centrist Republican who despises liberals and wants to use his influential platform to let his Republican friends brainwash your family into thinking the GOP is good. He refuses to give Democrats a fair rebuttal," he tweeted.

And, per Event 201 Recommendation #7, all information counter to the narrative is suppressed and censored.

When the housing crisis was building, I read "those guys" had so much money, they bought ALL the lobbyists, if not to lobby, to stand down. ... Those guys" are maybe ten times richer now as BigGov always bails out the billionaires when their leverage gambling fails. ... 2Big2Fail/Jail ... absurd idea, but it is still policy. 406 How ironic would it be that during the upcoming mid-terms the GOP stands ready to retake the House and control of the Senate... yet Republican voters don't turn out and the Democrats instead pick up seats in both houses?

Ironic, yes. Disappointing, no. I'm sort of hoping the GOP has their asses kicked to the curb. They desperately need to die and fade away.

This is a good point. "The Big Short" was a prime example of how the "experts" have a history of getting everything wrong. A few people who actually read the data regarding the nation's mortgage situation were able to determine there was a crash coming. Meanwhile, everyone in the government, everyone in the banking industry and everyone in the media continued to push the false narrative that "everything's fine".

There are no experts on anything. There are simply people who pay attention to data and interpret it correctly and people who ignore data and push a narrative.

2008 and The Big Short should have taught everyone in the nation that lesson. In fact, no one learned a damn thing.

Not to mention, the lesson from the 2008 crash was also that government deliberately creates chaos and crises and then uses taxpayer money to "save" us from the crisis they created.

The housing market crash was deliberately created by politicians and everyone involved. They created laws to force lenders to give people loans who were not qualified. In no sane world does that make sense.

These people are evil. The American people need to wake up to that fact.

409 pResident "Penetrating Fingers" Biden just invited the UN to be on alert to send foreign troops to America and bring to heel the Bitter Bible Clinger Crowd, and herd us into the waiting boxcars.

Recently, Chinese troops have been performing military exercises in Canada, but it would be racist an' intolerant an' non-inclusionary an' devisive an' hate speech-ed to question their motives...

After all, Trudeau is just so "hip & cool"...like Barry Soetero was just so "hip & cool."

Bill Ayers believed that "25 million people needed to die"...Bill Gates once stated that "the human population needs to be reduced by 15%"...

I dunno...wanna bet that 15% isn't going to be them?

Saying "yeah Covid killed 600,000 Americans but..." is not a winning strategy against the argument of Permanent Emergency.

The answer really is in three parts:
a) Deaths because of Covid not just death with incidental Covid found in your nose is almost certainly half or less the quoted total
b) And among those well less than half were not the very elderly
c) And going forward given
(1) natural immunity in the population
(2) vaccination
(3) therapeutics
There is every reason to believe that future actual Coof deaths of the under-80 are well below several other causes of death. Therefore: It's Over.

But it doesn't rhyme and can't be put on a bumper sticker.
