It's actually readable by humans. Most computer applications nowadays can read FEN, so those of you who may want to study the position, you can copy the line of FEN and paste into your chess app and it should automatically recreate the position on its display board. Or, Windows users can just "triple click" on it and the entire line will be highlighted so you can copy and paste it into your chess app. ___________ So that about wraps it up for this week. I'm awaiting for any results of a ...um... chemistry experiment from earlier today.
It involves apple juice, cinnamon and some mead. Homemade. Testing is not to be undertaken in large amounts as it's on the potent side. Also, cinnamon, apple juice and some honey moonshine, (it has a tax stamp so it's just the name), for personal consumption. First taste, not bad. It at least has yet to melt the bottle. On my honeymoon, I went to Paris. My wife let me go to the Musee de L'armie - which really is pretty cool.
I was struck by how small, okay, tiny...women and men were prior to 1820...like really munchkin size. They had armor for knights that came up to my chest, and I am not that tall. They had gowns that looked like some six year old would have worn it...I get it that there were tall people before 1820, they say that Henry the Eighth was over six foot, but I am guessing not really a lot, not even among the wealthy class... Had a relaxing pipe (Granger tobacco in a vintage billiard, if it matters) on my step with some iced mineral water to cool me down. The weather is less hot -- not "cooler," you'll notice -- so sitting on the step with dappled sunlight filtering through the trees is not unpleasant.
Tonight's Svengoolie movie is 1957's Blood of Dracula, which has nothing to do with the classic count or Transylvania at all, apparently. Turns out Aben Kandel, the guy who wrote it (and I Was A Teenage Frankenstein plus a classic episode of U.N.C.L.E., among other things) was actually born in Romania, like Edward G. Robinson. Miss Linda will probably go for another episode of Jamestown, which is well mounted but not terribly exciting after the first few episodes. Sheesh, I've been at my 'not for profit' company for over 25 years. I asked for promotion late this spring. I just had to submit info for a background check as part of them finally approving that. They wanted my college details. Like I remember what my GPA was and have contact info for the university handy when I haven't changed employers in 25 years. I think I might? might?? have a transcript in my office at work that I haven't seen in 18 months cuz 'WFH due to covid", I haven't asked to resume working in office and now they'll probably have a vaccine mandate, although they are at least waiting until OSHA comes up with the actual rule. I'll probably have to take a stupid covid test to be allowed to go in and collect my stuff from my former office. Anyway I left the GPA blank and just put in notes that I didn't remember it. I didn't want to guess and get dinged for lying about my qualifications -- as if the GPA from over 25 years ago has any relevance vs the 25 years of on the job experience. Eye roll.

Hedy was Jewish in Nazi Germany, but married to a German industrialist who she left to flee to the West.
Before she did, all the big Nazi honchos fawned over her at parties and such, and many liked to brag. Hedy was quite smart and could undertand the details of what she was told and remember them. One of the things she heard about was anti-jamming radios that used frequency-hopping. She worked with a guy who knew technology and got a US patent. It was left unused but the idea was later the basis for spread spectrum used by cell phone tower. There's another version of this story that has Hedy inventing it all. I believe that mine is true, and the alternate leaves out silly Nazis drooling over a Jewess. Posted by: Doctor Ignoramus at September 25, 2021 06:20 PM (ZHVt1) 278

Rod Serling was an American classic, Ben Had.
He dictated his episodes/scripts poolside to his lovely stenographer, who took them down in shorthand and later typed them out. Every Twilight Zone episode, at the very least, is thoughtful. Some are indeed better than others, but that's to be expected. Nonetheless, I've seen every one more than once. I think Serling was a Pacific theater vet. why doesn't anyone have any solutions? Well, when you have allowed yourself to get fat, lazy, stupid and ambivalent while your enemy has been preparing and drilling for generations, then your enemy then beats your ass into the ground and very little of your life remains - your options get a bit thin. Nonetheless, our options at this point is dissolution of the union. At the very least, Irish Democracy. Push to have your State make itself a Sanctuary State. If you live in a shithole State like anything on the Left coast, you deserve every bad thing that happens to you just as much as if you were to run around Afghanistan pretending to be a Hassidic Jew.
