The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"What we witnessed takes us back hundreds of years. What we witnessed was worse than what we witnessed in slavery. Cowboy with their reins in hand whipping black people, Haitians, into the water, where they're scrambling and falling down, when all they're trying to do is escape the violence in their country." Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA)

Quote II

‘The abortion I had as a teenager was the hardest decision of my life, one that caused me anguish then and that saddens me even now, but it was the path to the life full of joy and love that I have experienced. Choosing not to keep that early pregnancy allowed me to grow up and become the mother I wanted and needed to be.’Actress Uma Thurman

Quote III

"This lawsuit is an attempt to silence independent news organizations and we plan to vigorously defend against it." Danielle Rhoades Ha, New York Times

You have been a great boss the past 5 plus years. And I really do appreciate the Dynamic Dental Insurance Company's Cob Plan. However, if you really cared about the Cobs you would do some research and find out who this guy's dental carrier is.
Respectfully Yours, Mis. Hum.

What a dumb Loser. He can't even kill himself correctly.

A young man jumped off an apartment building in Yonkers, New York, and landed on an elderly man standing 12 stories below – killing them both.

A 25-year-old jumped from the roof of Cromwell Towers apartment complex just before 6pm on Monday evening, according to Yonkers Police.

The man who jumped was described as ‘distraught’ in a press release shared to Yonkers Police Department’s social media pages.

‘It’s just a very tragic thing,’ Yonkers Police Detective Lieutenant Dean Politopoulos told Metro.co.uk. ‘We don’t believe there was any foul play, it was just a very tragic and unfortunate set of events.’

Vaccinated vs. the Unvaccinated explained. (H/T redc1c4)

While we are on the topic of vaccination. FDA authorizes Pfizer booster shots for seniors, high-risk people - An advisory group serving the FDA rejected a White House plan to dispense third shots to nearly everyone

The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday authorized Pfizer booster shots for people above the age of 65 or who are at high risk.

In a press release sent to Fox Business, the FDA said it has approved a single booster shot for certain people to be administered at least six months after receiving their first two doses.

These groups include individuals 65 years and older, and individuals ages 18 to 64 who are either at "high risk of severe COVID-19" or who work in high-risk places.

I suppose that Dick Cheney gave enough oral to W that W feels inclined to return the favor. George W. Bush to host fund raiser for RINO Liz Cheney.

Embattled Anti-Trump Republican Liz Cheney will be getting a helping hand from a former President that is not Donald Trump.

According to Yahoo News “Former President George W. Bush will hold a fundraiser next month for the embattled Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., whose criticisms of former President Donald Trump have put her political career in jeopardy.”

Per the report:

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that Bush’s first campaign event of the 2022 midterms will be in support of Cheney. Her father, Dick Cheney, served two terms as Bush’s vice president. The fundraiser will take place in Dallas on Oct. 18.

Both are gutless bastards. Why not hold the fund raiser in Wyoming?

I am extremely pleased to see gun control working in Chicago. When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.

Gun-controlled Chicago: Suspect out on bail for murder caught with gun a second time while out on bond

CHICAGO, IL – A 38-year-old man who was out on bond for a murder charge was arrested this past June for allegedly being in possession of a firearm.

Surprisingly, the suspect was released on bond again for the gun charge – and was arrested again earlier in September for allegedly having another firearm.

I guess this kid never heard of a ruler. Genius Award Winner.

He backed up his hard drive — and his penis.

A UK teen had to undergo emergency surgery after a bananas attempt to measure his manhood resulted in him getting a USB cable lodged in his urethra.

The phallic fiasco reportedly began after an unnamed 15-year-old boy was “triggered by sexual curiosity” and inserted a USB wire into his urethra, per a wince-worthy study published in the medical journal Urology Case Reports.

The sexperiment backfired when the cable became lodged in the curious teen’s scrotum like an electronic catheter. Despite attempts to extract it himself, the USB cord became tangled so terribly that both ends were left hanging out of his wired willy.

I'm still cringing thinking about this little exploration adventure.

I think we need to start asking ourselves, is the establishment/congressional Left in this country really that disingenuous, or are they really that mind-numbingly, pants-shittingly stupid? I had always thought that it was a pretty even balance of the two, but stories like this are convincing me that I've been wrong. I think it more likely that they're all of one, or all of the other, and we need to figure out which so we can strategize against it. It's just so hard to tell the two apart at this point.

67 From the legal perspective, a "Constitutional right" has to be something found in the four corners of the document, and something that the Founders intended.

The obvious reason being so no one can claim "rights" depending on what will benefit them at the time.

So I can't wait to see if the Catholic justices find a "Constitutional right" to abortion, just like the Founders intended.

78 I have a friend who did the Ancestry thing, because she was adopted quite some time ago. She traced her mother, a woman who'd had a high school pregnancy, and now was a grandmother in a different state.

My friend wrote a beautiful letter to her, anonymously, thanking her for putting her up for adoption, and telling her what a wonderful life she'd had.

84 I'm actually in a weird way looking forward to HR quizzing me on whether my religious objections are Real or just made up so I don't have to get a shot. They may get more than they bargained for.

(I did talk to a former supervisor about the situation. She started telling me the Catholic church decided one vax was not okay but another of the types was. I told her that a, all of the types currently in use do use fetal cells, and b, I'm not Catholic. "And," I added, "if my Catholic friends are to be believed, neither is the Pope." She chuckled, but she also displayed so much religious ignorance in that conversation that I doubt she had any idea that Bergoglio isn't exactly fully accepted.)

99 Evening.

Reading the Uma Thurman story, do you notice something? One little thing that's probably unintentionally alluded to?

Fifteen year old Uma Thurman had what could reasonably be considered a forced abortion. No one held her down but it basically boiled down to her beau dumping her ass and her parents threatening to cut her off if she didn't do it (she didn't want to).

Choice, huh?!? Yeah, ain't that shit something.

So this kid took a job at a construction site and the foreman took him all the way to the top- 20 floors up. At noon break the kid starts to go back down and says "i gotta pee!". Foreman says "nah, takes too long. Imma stand on this board, u step out and pee. By the time the piss it hits the ground, gonna just dissapear." So the new guy steps out, and starts to pee when someone calls out to the foreman who then instinctively turns around and steps off the board, leaving the poor new guy to fall to his death.

After hours of the official inquest with no answers to the accident, the judge implores for any evidence into the case. "I think i know something, your honor." A man spoke from the back. "I think they were having a sex party!" "
A sex party!?" The judge replied.
""Yessir, a sex party. You see, I'm a glazier, and i worked on the 6th floor. I heard a scream, and when I looked up I saw a man with his dick in his hand yelling 'where is that cocksuckerrrrrrrrrrrrr!'."

The reality is that's bullshit. Does any 15 year old girl have a choice? No, of course not. She'll simply do whatever her parents, or the most powerful authority figure, tells her to. And you can keep going down that line of women being forced into shitty positions by the people in their lives.

One thing I do know about people, is for the most part they do not change. I used to think kids were just kids, kind of people who barely knew what it meant to be one. I thought most of them grew out of it and became serious adults at some point. I was wrong about that. For the most part, a shithead kid turns into a shithead adult.

If people were trying to help the girls, any doctor would be compelled by law to name the father and/or her parents to child protection services, because obviously someone's taking advantage of a child. (You can't be considered a competent adult until you're reached legal age)

But instead, a sixth grader can be taken out for an abortion by their teacher during school hours, without the parents finding out. (law in California)

156 Before my Mom passed two years ago, she had given me, an only child, and my 2 daughters and Hubby's an Ancestry DNA test for Christmas a couple of years prior. Five months after she passed, I received a letter addressed to her. The letter said this lady had found her through Ancestry and thought they might be related. I found Mom's password and went into Ancestry and there she was....and we were Sisters! So at 63 and 66 she came for a visit and I tried so hard to tell her who Mom was. She had a great life, still has and just wanted to thank Mom for giving her a chance to have a great family. We talk monthly and I am adjusting to having someone else call my Mom, Mom.

As for adoption, yeah that is a tough one. Many P.I.'es will say that stuff rarely ends well. it depends on the state, some are as opaque as they can possibly be. When you look at it fairly, there is an argument over whether to favor the kid or the parent in that situation. Favor one, and it can make it worse for the other. It is just a thing in this world.

I have a girl that works for us, her mother is on a vent from COVID. Two weeks ago, hospital staff told the family it'd be best to pull the plug after her mom had been on the vent for two weeks. But two months earlier, her bother had struggled with the Vid and was vented for 3.5 weeks, so they told the doctors to f*ck off. Now mom is coming off the vent and recovering.

GF has a friend that was on vent for 4 weeks, family was also told to pull the plug after two weeks. Now she has recovered.

I get the feeling sometimes hospitals don't give a f*ck.

One thing I do know about people, is for the most part they do not change. I used to think kids were just kids, kind of people who barely knew what it meant to be one. I think the Ancestry thing is kind of a loophole. Most states are very tough about protecting the mother's right to privacy. But if both sides are doing the ancestry tracing thing, they can find each other that way. Or, you may find a sibling or cousin, even if the mother is not participating, and discover the mother's identity that way

Friend was saying a relative in Florida ended up in a hospital as the result of a fall with a negligible injury. The Covid test taken a couple days before the fall was dismissed because the test given at the hospital on admission read positive. The relative did not have the jab and the hospital refused to treat her. Kept her as a patient for three days and ran all sorts of tests but refused to treat her injury. Relatives could not get in ot see her because she was Covid positive. Doc finally told her to demand a discharge so she could go home.

206 @98 I think Ursula Le Guin won a bunch of Hugos, back in the day, and was a lifetime recipient of Sci Fi Grandmaster Award.

She wrote "The Left Hand of Darkness" which foreshadowed this weird "male/female is a concept" way back when

---

She was a very prolific author. LHoD is about a planet where the residents (who are otherwise normal humans) periodically change from one gender to the other. And it should be noted that this is a full-on biological change that the individual undergoes. The narrator is a human from Earth.

She's best known for the Earthsea books. The original trilogy is good. The later ones not so much. Ignore the abominable SyFy miniseries of the same name. It's awful. I've also heard that the Miyazaki movie has little in common with the books beyond the name.

The Dispossessed is, perhaps, her most appropriate novel for our current situation. The protagonist spends most of his life on a planet that - on paper, at least - follows a system based on communalism and final-phase Communism. While the book assumes that such a system can work, it acknowledges that humans are human, and shows some of the short-comings of utopian thinking.

So if I read this correctly, the fiber optic is to be provided through ATT. The house termination will almost certainly be a fiber modem that provides both wired and wireless signals for your house.

I think most phones, and certainly a smart phone, have an option for you to enable wireless calling via the fiber modem (you need to enable this in the settings/setup and log in once).

Don't understated why your phone (or any ATT phone) won't work if you currently have ATT wireless service at your location?

They don't. And not just with COVID. Certain members of my family have had to use alot of healthcare over the course of their lives. They have charted a steady decline in medical care, hospitals chief among them. If you do not have an advocate, or are unable to effectively advocate for your yourself, you run real risk of being subject to (at the least) careless errors. This happens all the time. The over-reliance on tech has only made it worse.

Many of the good doctors are leaving (and encouraging their kids not to go into medicine). Many of those that stay think of it solely as a business. Hospitals are run by massive administrations that end up controlling the (declining) quality of care.

I understand exactly what you are saying. Everyone goes there own way, far be it for me to tell people how to think. But I agree with you. If someone went to that effort, they had a reason and for it to keep being an option, it needs to stay a certain way. I am not telling anyone else what to do, that it way out of my league. But I do line up with what you are saying,.

220 Friend was saying a relative in Florida ended up in a hospital as the result of a fall with a negligible injury.

These "no vax, no treatment" facilities should be shuttered.

Pretty sure the Spectrum fiber modem will offer wireless service to devices in your house, one of which is your phone. You should be able to enable wireless calling in the phone setup menu so the phone basically becomes an internet device not tethered to ATT while it is close to the fiber modem.

Not sure how this will work in your circumstances, but I had a similar setup and it was seamless (until the provider went out of business).

There was an episode of "Northern Exposure" in which an older Korean woman suddenly shows up with her son. It turns out that the wealthy older male member of the cast served in South Korea, and got the woman pregnant without ever knowing he'd done so. The encounter is generally a mess due to cultural and language barriers (he doesn't speak Korean, and the Koreans don't speak English). The only thing that keeps the meeting from being a complete disaster is when father and son eventually bond over arm-wrestling.

Of course I want the murder solved, and to my eyes the Laundrie kid looks like the prime suspect. But... we've all learned from recent events, (a) things aren't always what they seem, and (b) law enforcement oftentimes doesn't GAF about that; they just want scalps.

It's offensive to me that you use the term "mother" when speaking of the birthing person. No really.

A mother is the person who wipes the shitty bottoms and cleans the vomit. Who kisses the fevered brow. Who worries and paces and prays and sacrifices. A mom is the one who shivers at the soccer games and puts you in the corner. A mom makes your lunch and cleans the dishes while you do your homework at the table until midnight.
That's a mom.
And the person who gave you life, well, she has her own reasons for not being able to be a part of your life. And that should be respected.

The Democrat-Media Complex has given-up trying to get Hispanics across the nation to vote in a solid, large majority block for Democrats. So the D-M Complex amped-up the racism boogaloo, to help ensure 95 percent or more of blacks everywhere stay on the plantation and always vote Democrat. The many white libtards who succumb to the racism propaganda and as a result will never vote for a non-Democrat, is lagniappe.

This is a good point too, but people (and I would expect it is strong for those who were adopted) want to know where they came from. Why they never knew their parents (only one)? What happened to them after?

I usually think that people who say it is because they want to know if they have a genetic defect or want the kid to know it are... not lying per se, but stacking the deck on a desire they already have.

"Never let this thing contact me, or I'll execute it," is not the world's most sympathetic position. Maybe it's for the best results-wise. I'm inclined to think it is. But there's still something not quite pleasant about it (absent some extraordinary facts maybe).
Posted by: bear with asymmetrical balls at September 22, 2021 10:33 PM (QU5/

i disagree with this. For sure there are pitfalls, try telling a doctor your physical history wen it has no meaning at all. But when a woman gives a kid up for adoption, they are basically saying they can not care for them but they would never take the easy way out.

I said before I don't know what others think, and since the day i started posting here, my mantra has been that we all go our own way. If anyone has noticed, they ,will know that is the case.

Adopted kids don't get a choice in the matter. The funny thing is, nor do any of the other kids. I can see a hundred reasons why an adoptee would want to meet their birth mother. I can also see a hundred reasons why that would be a bad idea. The first reason is the adoptive parents.

423 Re adoption and anonymity:

I can tell you that the LA County Board of Adoptions was up to some weird shit in the 1960s.

I was adopted at the age of about a week old, in August 1966. The agency told my parents, (a) my birth mother CANNOT change her mind about the adoption, and (b) the birth family lives far, far away.

Then I was contacted by my birth family, in 1990. My "natural" mother told me, she was told by the agency she could *change her mind about the adoption at any time.* Also, her and her family only lived about *5 miles away* from my family, in Rossmoor, and only blocks away from my adopted grandparents!!

Someone was either lying or incompetent at the County in 1966.

441 AOP, in fairness that's also a real possibility. I found out one of the reasons I was put up for adoption is because she had major psych problems at the time, especially with depression and impulsivity (which in fact is the reason why I'm here today; my mother, who was already married, fell into bed with her boss one night, and here I am).

When adopted kids get their head around that they are related to other parents, a lot of adopted kids feel they have to choose one family or the other, and no one tells the adopted or birth family that, and of course no one explains this to the kid either.

So it gets kind of weird for the foster kids.

476 Awwww, are the cops pissed about it? Color me shocked... They're whining about this in public so they can try the guy in the media, and try to pressure him into incriminating himself.

Every person should know, most especially the cops, that whether you or your family member is guilty or innocent YOU NEVER, EVER, FOR ANY REASON COOPERATE WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT.

If you're guilty, it's obviously a bad move. If you're innocent, it's still a bad move. Even worse, because you're innocent, and THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT.

They just want to clear their case. Even if they know damned well you didn't do it, they'll be more than happy to do everything in their considerable power to trip you up and hang you for it, most especially if they don't have a good case on another suspect, and the media has already prejudiced any jury you're going to pull, anywhere.

They need to shut straight the fuck up about citizens protecting themselves in a completely legal manner, and quit poisoning the well even further.

there is no doubt some adoptees do not adjust well and they have troubled lives. The other option is worse, and we know what the Dem option is.

I can only tell you my own personal experience. Sure I missed out on some things. To this day I probably can't say my exact ancestry. Then again, most kids couldn't do that either and be accurate. I do know more history than they do, which is nice.

My parents are gone and that sucks. Meeting some stranger today would have very little meaning to me. Sure it is always good to meet someone who cares about you, we all need that. But for some out of this world connection, that is not going to happen.

i had two parents and now they are passed. Most people have had the same experience.

519 I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, Pray for Uma and all the mothers who aborted their children. She says she still thinks about it, means that her soul is crying out for healing. Same with Alyssa Milano, and countless others. They are trying to justify it, and yes, they offered up this child to Moloch, but there still is hope for redemption and healing as long as they draw breath.

A rich person, iirc, contracted a train and filled it with the kids. The train toured the Midwest giving children to childless families or families that wanted more children. It worked out fine.

523 I just suffered through watching a ChiCom propaganda movie called "The Eight Hundred", which is the story of the 800 Chinese soldiers who defended a warehouse in Shanghai in 1937 against thousands of attacking Japanese, all while being watched by the denizens of the "International Concessions" (Brits, Frogs, Americans, etc.) across the river.

The Chinese were of course slaughtered but they put up a good fight. The movie, however, was unbearable, and should really have been called:

"Two Hours And Twenty Minutes Of Heroic Speeches In Dubbed-In English, SHOUTED AT THE TOP OF THE ACTORS' LUNGS, JUST LIKE EVERY SINGLE FUCKING LINE OF DIALOGUE IN THE MOVIE, Nearly Drowned Out By Overly Dramatic Patriotic Music, Which Seemed To Go On Forever And Ever And Ever And Ever And Ever And Ever And Please, Mr. Japanese Commander Man, Please For The Love Of All That Is Holy, Stop Just Threatening To Use The Heavy Artillery AND JUST FUCKING DO IT AND END THIS!!!!!!! 557 @523 The Chinese were of course slaughtered but they put up a good fight.

-----------

I listened to a book about the Battle of Shanghai a few months ago. Quite a few of the soldiers there got out alive when they were finally given the order to withdraw.

The best story regarding it, though - and I think everyone here will appreciate this - involved a civilian Chinese woman. For those not familiar, the warehouse was backed up right against the International Concessions (British, specifically, iirc), and there was a river running right behind the warehouse, crossed by a bridge that was guarded by British marines (which is where the Chinese soldiers ultimately retreated to). The warehouse was surrounded on the other three sides by the Japanese.

Anyway, this Chinese woman realized that there was no Chinese flag at the warehouse. So she got her hands on a flag, sneaked across the river - which was being watched by the Japanese as well as the British - at night, and delivered her flag to the troops inside. Then she stayed in the warehouse during the day, and slipped back out to the Concession the following night - against, past the Japanese.

There are worse countries, I promise you that.

But the Commies had hunted down and murdered everyone else in his family. So when the war ended and Uncle Sam gave him a US passport, he changed up the name, just in case.

Interesting. The Brits, for the centennial of WWI, put up a database of names of soldiers who died during the war. Out of curiosity, I entered my last name. Not a sausage. I then entered my maternal grandfather's last name, "Smyth". Lots of hits, all Irish. Apparently, that particular spelling is unique to Ireland.

I guess I went off on Spain tonight. But I thought it was funny when Welles was brought up. Now that guy legit had a thing with Spain. And with that i will bid everyone adios.

We've had a program on orphan trains, it's been a hot topic in historical circles in recent yrs. They brought kids from NY to NW IL ca. 1880s, I have a poster announcing the future arrival of some at the Galt House.

Some kids were lucky, others were used as free labor and abused. That's the interesting thing about history, you learn human nature doesn't change much.

There have always been azzholes around trying to control things. You just don't need to elect them to positions of power.

744 Mornin', all,

A quick update on the long saga of Chekov the ailing 14-year-old Siberian cat: He continues to improve slowly. He walks better; he comes over for petting when I call his name, as he has for most of his life. And he eats with enthusiasm, a mix now of Friskies wet food and his Rx dry stuff. The vet instructs me to get him off the Friskies -- too much fat, he says, which can lead to pancreatitis -- and onto Royal Canin or Hill's Science Diet. I'll do that today.

Maybe his adopted brother the big black Wolf cat can come back home soon. Of course he will tend to eat everything in sight, so until we are sure Chekov is out of danger and is getting enough nutrition, it's not a good idea.

Thanks to all for your good thoughts!

If I have to fib a bit and say that my employer is considering layoffs, etc., I can.

You lucky people with your luxurious 4 seasons. We're having what the local news people gush over as a "cold" front: morning low of 66, high of 80 -- which is utterly amazing for this pesthole at this time of year, I admit. Usually we at 13-15 degrees hotter than that. We'll be back to those kinds of temps next week.
