14 Skip. Thanks for the mention of Collegeville/Phoenixville and Ida. Just checked out the footage from Collegeville. The first youtube was drone footage and you could see our house way above the Perkiomen. The next shot was the car wash we went to, mostly under water.
We also lived there during 9/11, scary times.

The video then cut to her cook describing a standard meal, featuring fried chicken, bread, cookies, etc. "She was a good eater," he said with a reminiscent smile on his face.

Now, there are cases where medicines or other conditions make you gain weight, and I'll further add that the government has complicated matters by lying to us for decades about what a healthy diet should be, but nevertheless, in the majority of situations, it was their choice to not put the fucking fork down.

There's a pretty good documentary about him. Saw on it some cable channel last year. Not sure what year it is from. They attempted to deduce his identity. I think they succeeded. David Baltimore got the Nobel prize for showing an incredible thing. That B cells rearrange their DNA to create better antibodies to an antigen(target molecule on a pathogen for example). These B cells remain in the body, after recovery, ready to fight infection the next time. Until Baltimores work, people thought of DNA as unchangeable. So it was a huge advance But more relevant to Fauci, it showed the incredible lengths the body goes to, to adapt, and resist future infection. Fauci just ignores such work? Audacity for sure. I would be really curious what Baltimore would say.

Yes. Lab Corp has a test that can do that. I had it about a week ago because I was curious and sadly I have not had it. The test costs about $40 plus $10 for the local place that draws your blood. I got the result in about two days. The test can also tell you a quantitative amount of your good covid antibodies.

Someone suggested to me a number of things to read yesterday and one of them was Augustine's City of God. He writes excessively about people who died and took their life as Rome was sacked by barbarians. The point for most of that work is an apologetic for Christianity and the attacks against it following the collapse of Rome. He did make room for people who's last moments were so horrific that they had little choice to the end of their flesh and added that spirit and body unblemished would be reunited again. He discussed this from many rhetorical vantage points. He was countering some anti-stoicism in roman belief and arguing against the tendency for pagan romans to make heros of people who took their life.

I'm in the same boat: I work for a 2 headed company. 1/2 the biz, (not my half0 are DoD contractors for manufacturing. Although I sell into the Geospatial world, I am housed in the same building. I am absolutely sure our HR dept. is getting positively chubby* at the prospect of forcing us to jab, or be fired. And I'm a guy who needs a job: 2 kids in college, also trying to sock away some $$s for my wife's retirement.
I can't believe it's come to this.
*This is to me, the most amazing part of this nightmare: how easily people slip back into 1930's German mindset. I hope we get to the part where these f's can only mumble about "...just following orders..." immediately before ascending the gallows.

BUT, I was also recently contacted by the Blood Bank telling me I had extremely rare blood type (concerns Lutheran antigens- look see). My red blood cells have no appendages on them. Why, after 40 years of giving blood are they looking at these?

1) How many people do you know or associate with who have died of Covid? And I mean actually personally know to recognize, from work, in your apartment building, on your block. Not just a third-hand acquaintance. After 18 months, for me the answer is Zero, and I'd be willing to bet that a large majority of the people coming here through the day would say the same.

2) How many people do you know or associate with who are obese? I'd also be willing to bet that 100% of the people coming here today could supply a number above zero.

Covid is not sweeping through the obese community the way it swept through nursing homes, because even with increased odds against them, fat people are able to survive the infection.

"I live in Santa Clara county (California), and earlier today I was denied medical care due to my vaccine status. The doctor involved is someone I have been seeing for several years and know well. He told me that "the powers that be" have told medical providers in our area to NOT perform any elective procedures on anyone who is not fully vaccinated. This includes colonoscopies, mammograms and pretty much any procedures that don't involve immediate life-saving measures. If the doctors ignore this recommendation, they have been threatened with losing their membership in professional organizations and law suits against their practices. Just an FYI..."

People start out as idealists, but rapidly get crushed under the wheels of regulation, reimbursement criteria, the constant harassment of insurers (private and public) and clinical guidelines as determined by their state and facility.

When people discuss the opioid problem and blame doctors and pharmaceutical companies, they totally fail to look at the input and demands of regulators, accreditation groups, and insurers. Years ago pain became "a vital sign" and "pain is whatever the patient says it is" became mantras and agencies would come in and scour medical records for patient reports of "unmanaged pain" (including addicts). Well, if you had people complaining on record or on post discharge surveys about pain, they would ding down the facility's rating and tinker with your reimbursement as well. You had to be punished if people c/o pain. I recall getting bitched at for having the temerity to state that people often lied about pain, especially those with addiction issues. CMS did not like my comment at all, I was not a team player.

There is one in CDA that's so full they're now putting hospital beds in conference rooms. But I wonder if that's because they're fairly small? Technically, the Center for Disease Creation didn't do the counting nor did they do any diagnosing. That was done in hospitals all across the country which were forced earlier to cut off nearly all forms of revenue to "flatten the curve".

The general tests were garbage, often not even performed but were based on a checklist of symptoms and circumstances (like proximity to a "positive" person for more than 15 minutes). Each diagnosis of flu like symptoms was performed with an accountant looking over the physician's shoulder calculating who is next on the payroll chop block.

Son of Doof is embarking on his graduate / doctorate degree in physical therapy. He wants one day maybe open his own clinic. I asked him what interests him more - the PT part or the business part. He said the PT part. I told him to find a partner who wants to focus on the business part because it will be nearly impossible to keep the business/insurance aspect from affecting his ability to focus on good PT. He's slowly but surely understanding what I mean - he's currently working as a PT Tech and he's seeing what the office people have to deal with.

My wife was a PT assistant in her younger days and one of my daughters has worked as an admin in a PT clinic. Regardless of the level of care, which I assume was great, they both said the places where they worked were horribly run. Finding someone competent to handle the business side is a great idea.

It's horrible. Having spoken to may insurers to beg for more time for patients, and I do mean beg and plead, I can vouch for the ridiculousness. Now couple this with a handful of surveys that don't give you all 5s, and it gets worse.

My husband, age 80, is a typical idiotic scenario. He is 80 and expects, after a few sessions of PT, to feel like he did when he was 45-50. This will not happen. Full stop. Yet he confuses what he wants with what the therapy can accomplish and ...complains. Insurers, take notice of the complaint not of how unreasonable it is (and of course, patient adherence to therapy is also the fault of the provider)

They use Ivermectin on cattle, and they are certainly intended for human consumption. There is probably a time window required between the administration of any drug, and the slaughter of the animal, out of an abundance of caution.

338 Also, horses are slaughtered for human consumption still today. Just not here in the U.S. So now horses with no other market get to be shipped twice as far and the ones closer to the Mexican border get a far less humane slaughter than they would have at a U.S. facility.
