I applied online for disaster assistance on Wednesday, and to the state for D-Snap -- basically food stamps in the context of a disaster. Haven't heard a word. Seems to me the response to disaster victims was much swifter for Katrina, and bigger. (Of course, look who's in charge of FEMA and the government as a whole now.)

She was discharged on Wed only to be readmitted on Thursday Morning with the same problem. Waited about 5 hours in waiting room both times to be seen by Dr in hospital. No one could stay with her due to the rona.
The good of American health system.
Friday my Dad had a eye Dr visit for what he called cloudy vision in the mid morning. Turned out he had a detached retina. The Dr. had called and set up an appointment with Eye Surgeon. Last night at 6:30 he went under for eye surgery, was released at 9:30
Can we compare these two? Not really because one is a known (eye). The stomach problem not so much. Point God bless the American medical system. Greatly Flawed yes. But much better than anywhere else in the world.

These "medical" facility administrators who are keeping people away from loved ones are doing it because they 1. don't want to jeopardize their government funding by bucking the government narrative. 2. are too cheap to provide a protected environment for visitation, 3. are not keeping up with the real SCIENCE! or 4. just don't give a fck.

Thanks. So I just went through it quickly. Most of the studies involved are either in vitro or animal. The only human study I see them quoting is the Elgazzar, which was found to be fraudulent. They allude to ongoing human studies but I can't find any. Anyway, I hope it works for some people. I still want to see a real, peer reviewed study to make a final call. The Clown Show running out health system means that regular people have to do The hard, honest work.

In the EU a Mid East immigrant family cost the country about $600k. I would guess thats about the same here. An illegal from Mexico or Central AM cost the US around $200k. If you look at wage suppression and chain migration that cost can go into the millions.

Actually, if I remember the turnout numbers correctly, the turnout for the Democrat primary she won was somewhere around 10%. And the turnout for the general election was somewhere around 50%. So 10% of registered Democrats voted for her in the primary. And 50% of registered voters in her district voted for her to represent them.
She won by Bronx residents' apathy, not because a majority of Bronx residents actually voted *for* her.

Actually, that should say that some % of 50% of registered Bronx voters voted for her.
So, for example, if she won 50% of the vote, that's actually only 25% of registered voters. The other 75% of registered voters either voted against her or didn't vote at all.
